BIS unlocked bb

I use brand new unlocked bb 8520 in indonesia using the local carrier (Pro  XL). The phones in Indonesia mostly unlocked. I have any problem with BIS.
Then I move to Canada, the first day I still use Indonesia SIM Card. I'm able to connect to internet, bbm is working over the wifi. he second day I switch sim card to Fido prepaid service with data plan unlimited email. Fido CSR said the plan might not work since my phone isn"t Fido phone. BBM is working over the Wifi but i cant get internet connection or set up my email. Every time I try to set uo my email the message is "your device had a problem connecting to the server"
Of course Fido won't help me.
Is there any solution for this issue?thank you for your help.

Hi diah1012
If you have the correct BlackBerry data plan with Fido, try going to https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=fido from your computer to setup your BlackBerry Internet Service account.  If this doesn't work for you, send me a Private Message with your PIN and I can verify you have the correct data plan.
Thanks

I have a verizon BB8830(unlocked) am on Airtel and BIS worked fine some 6 months back. But now BIS has stopped working when activated,I wiped then device and tried OS update still nothing and it can no longer receive service books fro my carrier including after sending host routing table registration messege,I get no response. How can I solve this problem?

    Hey Jackonberry,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the post.
After checking the PIN number you provided, I have found the issue:  Currently there is no active BlackBerry® data plan on that BlackBerry® .  Contact your network service provider to resolve the issue.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Troubleshooting BIS in BB storm 2 9550

My Blackberry Storm 2 9550 is not able to get EDGE on the phone so i am not able to use BIS it was previously on Verizon but I unlocked it.It was working properly but after six months of purchase.I am not able to register neither on vodafone server nor on blackberry or host routing table, service books are also not available.... I tried it with other sim cards of different service providers then to it is not working.I tried each and everything which service provider told like battery pull, restart, security wip etc. Please HEL ME

I"m not fully understanding the words you are posting, so let's see if I am interpreting correctly:
    1) You have a VZW 9550
    2) The 9550 is unlocked from VZW, as validated by this:
    http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_determine_if_my_BlackBerry_is_%22unlocked%22%3F
    3) You have a SIM from Vodafone India, that you wish to use in the 9550, locally in India
    4) It worked fine for 6 months on Vodafone India, but has recently stopped working
If I have that correct, here is what I suspect happened. When you unlocked it and put the Vodafone India SIM into it, it properly registered to Vodafone India. But, your BIS-level services did not get shut down from VZW. Sometimes this happens...a carrier may not immediately shut down your BIS services when you move onto a different carrier. And some carriers allow the BIS services to function, even though they are traversing to a different carrier. Once VZW caught up, they finally shut down your BIS service since you'd not been paying them for those services.
Consequently, what you now need to do is to get your BIS services working directly from Vodafone India. And that is where the challenge will lie. The 9550 is capable of both CDMA and GSM services...it has a multi-function radio. Clearly, since it was working via Vodafone India for those 6 months, you have it properly configured to operate on that network. But, until you can activate BIS services from the Vodafone India network, you will have no ability to receive BIS services from them.
If you indeed have a BIS-level account from Vodafone India, then that's only the first step in getting this working. The next step is obtaining the Service Books from Vodafone India (you previously had them from VZW, but when they shut down your BIS account, the Service Books were automatically removed from your BB). Even if the BIS account at Vodafone India is fully functional, the Service Books must still reside on the BB in order to actually use the service. And the Service Books come from the carrier. Most carriers will only deliver Service Books to BB models that they natively support...so if Vodafone India does not support the 9550, then they will not push the Service Books to you.
There are tedious and manual methods to obtain the necessary Service Books, but please first clarify if all of the above that I have written to you is accurate.
Oh...one more thing...are your voice-level services, from Vodafone India, working fine still?
Good luck and let us know!

  • Need to be "released" from Veizon Blackberry Server to get BIS in New Zealand??

I have a Verizon Blackberry Tour that has been unlocked.  I am now with Vodafone New New Zealand and have registered for Blackberry Internt Service with Vodafone.  It does not currently work - Vodafone tells me that the phone is registered on Verizon's Blackberry server and I need to contact Verizon to have it released from their server before Vodafone can provide me with BIS.  Verizon tells me that because I never had a plan with them, the phone is not registered on their server (not sure I believe that, but....).  Verizon has told me to contact Blackberry as the phone would have to be released from a Blackberry server.  This doesn't make sense to me ... but I can't seem to find a way to talk to someone at Blackberry to find out.  Can anyone help?

It makes sense to me, in that whoever used the device prior to you, did not "remove" the PIN from their account. Hence, the device remains registered on the previous account.
Verizon will need to do this. RIM doesn't do this. It is a common question asked here of users purchasing used devices. Call Verizon.

  • BIS, Email and BBm abroad on a PAYG sim?

Hi All, currently on UK Orange carrier. Leaving the country for the foreseeable future. So am buying myself out of my contract but keeping my Curve. Want to take it with me to Thailand and continue using it. I can get it unlocked by Orange which is fine. My question is this:
Can i pay for internet service and email/BBM etc  monthly straight to blackberry and can i then continue using my phone on a normal Pay As You Go simcard that i'll buy when i'm out there? If so, how do i go about setting up payment straight to RIM?
    Cheers!
    Sam

You do need the device unlocked, yes. Orange will usually do that for free. If not try unlock.berryreview.com for a reputable low cost unlocking vendor.
I don't know any companies that offer the BIS BlackBerry Internet Service without voice, as the SIM card in the device is part of the connection to the device to register the Data Plan on the device. Does that make sense?
Several carriers around the world do offer PAYGO voice and Blackberry Data Plans. However I don't know which carrier you are looking at in what countries.  Say you were traveling to Thailand, you would need to investgate those carriers ahead of time.

Perhaps, you intend to say "stopped" working?
If you have a BlackBerry Data Plan on your service provider account, on your BlackBerry device, go to:
    1. Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register.
    2. Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site:
    From your handheld device:   http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402
Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and log in. Then under Help!, select Service Books, then select Send service Books.
    From your desktop PC:  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American Carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
WorldWide Carriers - Find your carrier on the list
    3. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot. This reboot, even if you have already done this, is often needed to install the service books.

  • I have AT&T & Curve 8300 running BIS - Can I upgrade-

to version 2.5 of the device firmware along with the companion v4.5 or 4.6 desktop software?
    Here's a little background:
I bought my Curve last fall at an AT&T store.  I had been a quite satisfied Palm customer since 1994 and so had accumulated over 1500 very detailed contact records, as well lots and lots of appointments.  But I had to return my latest Palm device, a Treo 680 within the 30 day warranty period due to a severe problem with battery life.  To my frank amazement, it stay charged up enough for use for more 3-4 hours at a time.  (I'm a heavy data user but not that heavy!)  So I decided to make the big switch, thinking that Palm technology was becoming obsolete anyway and the company's future was in doubt.
It turns out this was a really good move, except for one thing:  with the Treo I had become acustomed to not needing to lug my laptop around on planes, etc. because I could do most anything I needed on the Palm, including most MS Office work via the Dataviz software product Documents To Go.   While this software was not yet available for BB at the time, I was told that this was coming in a few months.  So I decided to get by without MS Office temporarily - really meaning only the loss of MS Word and Excel because I knew that the Curve integrated well with MS Outlook.
But what I didn't expect was to still be waiting 15 months later!
As I say, I've been very happy with my Curve and Dataviz did in fact come out with the BB platform support a few months ago.  However, the issue remaining is that this software requires me to upgrade to at least v4.5 BB Desktop (I'm running 4.3 now) and to upgrade to Curve firmware version 2.5 (I'm running firmware v2.4.2 now).
I was in contact with AT&T "support" again today and I'm still being stonewalled. The trouble is AT&T only supports the software versions I'm running now and apparently have no plans to support anything newer.
Obviously there are no worries about running desktop v4.5, but I have two specific questions about the v2.5 firmware:
    1.  Can I upgrade the firmware to 2.5 and still safely receive AT&T voice and BIS data services?  I guess what I'm really asking is whether there are compatiability issues I shold be aware of???
    2. If I find later that have any issues, or AT&T arrests me (kidding, sort of) can I safely downgrade back to firmware v2.2.4?
I don't care a wit about whether AT&T offically supports these O/S versions.  There little of that expected or needed anyway.  What I'm asking is "will it work technically or is AT&T doing something funky on their network with file transfer protocols, etc.?"
Any feedback here will be much appreciated!

  • At&t to T-Mobile on unlocked Bold - Why does everything work? Will it keep on working?

Due to at&t's lack of coverage at my house, I changed to T-Mobile.  I unlocked my Bold and simply put the T-Mobile sim card in.
To my surprise, EVERYTHING works perfectly.   I am on the BES Data plan.
The one thing that I don't understand is why my BIS email accounts are still working.  I still manage these BIS accounts at att.blackberry.com even though I'm on T-Mobile's BES service now.  Shouldn't I be managing these from tmobile.com/bis or something like that?  If I just leave it alone, will it keep working indefinetely?
    Thanks

I have the same problem. Developed just this past week. But my phone is older (iOS 3.1.3).  There are many replies in many forums here, but no answers. Does anybody have a solution? Could the headset jack or the MONSTER adapter for my jack have damaged the silencing function in the jack port?

  • My 8830 world edition won't register to local carrier BIS

I just bought this 8830 word edition from ebay. Originally it's locked to Verizion but I already unlocked.
In a first time when I insert my BB enabled GSM sim card, it's registered and my BIS service works fine. But After I wipe and reinstall the OS (I use 4.5.175 from verizon because there are no any local carrier have it the installer for 8830) - I still can registered (got RIM registration message and GRPS signal) but the service book is not pushed to the device. I am tring to push the service book from my carrier BIS site but there is no response in the device to receive it.
Currently, I can't see the email settings icon - and in the setup wizard there are no option to add/create personal email - just BES email activation.  When I go to my local carrier CS - they remove my BIS account and ask me to do wipe and HRT. I do it but again, I got RIM registration message and GPRS signal but no icons for email setings, ym, gtalk that's usually pushed when the new device connected at the first time. Then my local carrier trying to create a new BIS account for me - but got "Invalid PIN or IMEI/ESN/MEID format" message. I ask them to use PIN and ESN instead of PIN and IMEI - still no luck and gota message as below:
This BlackBerry(R) device is not registered with your wireless service
    provider.
Please register this device and verify that the URL of the current web
    site matches
the one provided by your wireless service provider.
    To register:
    1. In the Application list on your device, click Options, or click
    Settings Options.
    2. Click Advanced Options > Host Routing Table.
    3. Click the Menu key and click Register Now.
If the error persists, contact your wireless service provider.
My local carrier then check to their billing system and they said my simcard was not connected to the device. Then they said is strange issue and mention about the "invalid imei format" is not normal (the last digit of imey number on the device is 0 but the correct one is 8).
I need help for clear out this issues. Any suggestion? Was I bought a suspended device? I'm trying to email [email protected] asking the information but they just auto-replying. I have plan to rise a dispute on ebay but I need to clearly the issue first.
Hope got any enlightenment from this forum. Thanks.

    Hey jackonberry,
    Thanks for the reply.
After checking your PIN number I see that your BlackBerry® data plan is not active.  Contact your network service provider to resolve this issue.

  • A problem with BIS

    Hey,
I've recently started using social apps a lot(things like Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr) but I've been having an annoying problem, whenever I disable wi-fi and use 3G, the apps don't work and I get an error that says
"You are currently on a data plan that does not support this application. If you want to use this application, please connect to a Wi-Fi network or contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan" Blackberry Messenger and the web browser works except the social apps.
I live in Saudi Arabia, my carrier is STC and I have the BIS plan it offers(there is only one) Many people have said that by calling their carrier, they usually fix the problem and it starts working but when two of my friends tried to, it didn't work so I didn't bother wasting my time.I've also heard its because that all network traffic in the country is monitored, and thus browsing has to pass by the local proxy, which is a function that doesn't exist with BIS servers.

You need to make sure you PIN of the BB is registered with the new account, and your emails are setup there.
    http://eu.blackberry.com/eng/support/blackberry101/email.jsp
But also, make sure Orange provisioned the BlackBerry Data Plan to the account, sometimes people make mistakes and it might not have been activiated.
On your handset, go to Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table. Press Menu > Register. If you are set up correctly for a BlackBerry Data Plan, you should get a registration message in your Message folder within 15-20 minutes if not sooner.

  • Change of mobile provider has caused a problem with BIS on my bb pearl

    Hi, hope someone can help.
I have just changed mobile provider from O2 to Orange via sim only contract.  I had BIS set up when I was with O2 although it took approximately 2 weeks before my e-mails could be pushed to my handset.  Now I am with Orange, I have asked them to set me up with BIS, but, to date, I have been unable to receive any e-mails.
Do I need to do something on my handset?
Pretty desperate for a solution as I am having to pay for BIS with Orange and am paying for something I am not able to use at the moment.

Hello, I just bought an unlocked BB 9720, as a provider I choosed Vodafone (I live in Spain). Can I register for BIS online? I contacted vodafone, but they dont even know what it is.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You need to ring them back up...they certainly do know what BIS is, or at least what the specific plan they sell is required for BB devices. The person you spoke to might not be properly trained...so try someone else.

  • BB9630 verizon unlocked in Russia

    Hello
My friend have presented me a Verizon BB9630 unlocked that he've purchsed on e-bay in USA. I've registered BIS in local provider (MTS Russia) and now I have following problem. BIS is working only after I switch of GPRS service on my sim-card (GSM). And once GPRS is enabled BIS is not working.
Is there any solution for this problem or this phone is unable to work in Russian network in a way when GPRS Internet and BIS exist simultaneousely.
    Thanks,

    Hey netdancer,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Just to clarify, your emails are coming through if GPRS is disabled?  Or it does not work at all?
I look forward to your reply.

  • BB Torch (unlocked). Cant setup email (times out when selected) via Virgin Mobile

    Hi Everyone
    I have a BB Torch 9800.
It was originally registered on the Rogers network, and everything worked fine.
I recently unlocked the phone, and switched to Virgin (ie new SIM card), including a data plan.
Im not able to setup an email account now.
When I go into Setup->Email Accounts->Internet Mail Account, it says "Check for updates'.
After a couple minutes it will timeout saying it can't connect.
In searching the fourms, I came across Host Routing Table settings. My HRT has  "* No entries *'. I have "Register Now", which tells me the Registration message was sent, however I havent had a response back.
Im also wondering if this phone is still "registered" with Rogers somehow?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

My providor is Virgin Mobile in Ontario, Canada. A quick web search seemed to indivate they support this BB, but IM not positive. So it coul just be thats the issue.
From what I can see in the official Download Portal, Virgin Mobile Canada indeed does support the 9800...you can double check here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html
If a carrier lists an OS package for a specific BB model number, then the carrier supports that model, and everything should be fine.
But, that is step 5...what about the things included in steps 1 through 4? Those, of course, are all steps...requiring the success of a prior step before considering proceeding to the next step. So, for instance, if your voice services aren't yet working from Virgin, then you should not even be thinking yet about getting data to work.
    As to your questions:
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Do I request this through my BB?
Normally, I suggest the following steps, in order (again requiring success before proceeding), even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Unfortunately, we already know that your BB fails on step 1 here (register HRT)...which then precludes moving on to step 2. Which leads me back to the prior steps...did steps 1 through 4 all result positively?
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Would the providor do this for me automaticall?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no...when in doubt, the steps above are the way to force it.
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Would I request the providor to do this?
If it does not work with what is above, then the next logical step would be to contact the carrier for formal assistance...after all, it's their network with which you are attempting to get your BB to communicate.
    phantasie wrote:

Do I login into BB to do this (ie I found this link https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html which I tried logging into, but it says my device isnt registered on the network. It told me to setup my Host Routing Tabels to fix that, which I tried, but hasnt worked yet).
There is more than one way to accomplish many of these things. But, until your BB properly registers to the carrier network (HRT), attempting to go any further is pointless.
With all of that, we're back to steps 1 through 4 of what I previously sent...if those are not completed properly, then nothing else will be useful.
    Good luck!

  • BIS not available for Z10 due to carrier request ?

It has been told me (see this post : Z10 without BIS just a kind of pale iPhone copy) BIS was not available for Z10 due to carrier request, thus I sent my Z10 back to my carrier and turn live my old 9860. One question remains: if carrier ask BBY to stop BIS service for Z10, why or when will they ask them to do the same for ALL bby ? Or the information I've got is just bull$ or one day or an other we all be catch in the trap ...
can someone confirm if this is true or not ?

It is the way the BlackBerry10 operating system is designed to work.
