BIS while roaming

If I understand correctly BIS will work while roaming as long as there is data roaming with the foreign carrier. All BIS data is tunneled over the internet with my existing service-book of my carrier (Verizon Wireless)?

Hello,
If, by your description, you mean that you leave your VZW SIM installed in your BB AND your account has been fully and properly provisioned by VZW for full international roaming, then, yes...all of your data services will function just fine while you roam on other carriers networks. I've done it many many times this year alone.
That said, I can say from personal experience that the first two times I tried (last year) and was assured by the VZW rep that all would be fine, it didn't work (well, that is to say, it only worked on CDMA networks that I roamed on...not too many of those outside of North America). Only the third try, after my IT Director got deep into VZW to an engineer, did things work just fine. Further, if it is not configured properly before you leave the VZW network, there is nothing that can be done until you return onto the VZW network.
Good luck!

  • Using find my iphone while roaming without notifications activated

    Hello,
I used to be able to use "Find my iPhone" while roaming internationally without have push notifications on (iOS 4.x.x.) but now with iOS 5 there isn't a way to use that feature without enabling notifications as well.
    In Settings>General>Network
There is an option of Cellular Data but it turns off Data Roaming when you disactivate Cellular Data.
Basically my question is, is there anyway to turn off all notifications while roaming yet have find my iphone activated.
I know that if I send a message in say "whatsapp" in 4.x.x it would send but i wouldn't get notified unless I was in the app, but now they are pushed either way which makes it expensive for me since I am roaming 270 days out of the year.
    Thanks

You cannot trace it if it is offline.
Hopefully you have a passcode on your iPad and you have backups of these documents.

  • Ipads Disconnecting While Roaming (WPA2, 802.1x, Radius)

We are having an issue that is apparently only affecting Apple Ipads. These are user devices that we are allowing connections to "Guest" SSID through an anchor to our DMZ. They are authenticating over 802.1x to our internal Radius server. Below is the debug of one of the Ipads disconnecting while roaming. After about 10 seconds the connection will resume. This is occuring on a 5508 WLC running 7.0.98.218 code and 1142 APs. Ipad is running 6.0.2 firmware. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I wish I can share the email I was given. But, the largest healthcare system in the US discovered a roaming issue with iOS devices on 6.0.1 and 6.0.2.

  • Problems while roaming since last update of an iPhone 5

Since last update the phone loses signal intermittently while a regular phone in the same network/account has a steady, strong signal. I've reset network settings and since it didn't work I did a hard reset, erasing and restoring the phone. The problem persists

    Hey Manuel Flores-Arce,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like the iPhone is having a service issue while roaming. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • Lumia 900 crashing/freezing while roaming in Canad...

My Lumia 900 (AT&T) is crashing and/or freezing while roaming in Canada. It appears to stop doing this if I have the Data roaming turned off. It has also done this before while roaming in India. Has anyone faced a similar situation? Any words of advice? I travel frequently for business and need my data connection while roaming internationally. If the phone continues to behave like this, I might be forced to go back to the iPhone. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there, I am experiencing the same issues. Was wondering if your hard reboot worked?
Hi. 'Same' may not be the exactly similar. Please provide us details regarding your case. Does it happen randomly or when accessing certain apps on the phone? What connections are enable on the phone (Bluetooth, tap+send, data connection, WiFi)? How about the background apps running on the phone?
Ensure that the software of the phone is updated. Latest update is the 'Black Update' currently rolling out globally:  http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/
Aside from the phone's software, it's also important to check that all system apps are up-to-date. Please refer here: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Nokia-Windows-Phone-8-App-Updates/td-p/1640082
    Hi, mmansour.
To verify, the issue starts after updating the phone to Black. Correct? Or have you been encountering the issue prior updating the phone? After updating the software to Black, make sure that all system apps are updated as well. You may refer to the above link for the system apps.

  • Limit email downloads while roaming?

    Hello
When I am roaming I would like to limit my email downloads, to just download headers, or just the first 5k, like I used to be able on my Treo. Even being able to set "no attachments" or "no images" would be great.
Right now I'm finding my email charges while roaming are huge, because I get a lot of email that really isn't crucial, but I have to download it all in order to see the messages that are.
    How would I enable this?
    Thanks

Here is what I have noticed with attachements.
I can test and send an attachment to myself from PC to iPhone accuont that it is checking.
Open Mail App. It checks and says connecting...etc. I see messages show up.
    Get the Ding.
Shortly after that the paperclip will show I got one with an attachment.
But then the progress at the bottom goes away. However, if I don't go into that mail message and just wait. The progress indicator at the top will start and will process and process and process. Once that if finally done. If I open the message. The attachment will be there already downloaded. Only if one goes into a mail message around the time it arrives (before it had time to download) have I seen it say attachment is there but not downloaded (or at times it will take time and process and download on open).
I have just found (from my experience) that if you don't go right into email when an email with an attachement arrives and let it sit it will eventually be there when you do go check.
Now this also happens when I don't open the mail app at all. As I described in one of my earlier posts. I listen to music/podcasts on FM transmitter in my car. I get the now and then interference for txt, grabbing new cell etc. When new email arrives (I don't seem to get interference with just checking...odd) but when new email arrives I hear the itnerference (longer than txt interference) then it stops, I get a ding. But I will leave it there as I don't need to be reading email while driving. But if an attachement was included, then it will start to process again (long time with interference...could be minutes if big attachment especially while moving and jumping towers). I have had to pause playback as it is just unbearable. I have at times gotten fed up knowing it was a huge file that I can get later and gone and turned of my email after having gone into mail to press and hold home button to force quit it.
All my accounts I check are POP.

  • Cannot receive Texts while Roaming in Canada

    Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to be, but I'm having a hard time getting an answer or a solution to this.
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy 5. I spend a good amount of time in Canada and have had no problem sending/receiving texts while roaming there until I got this new phone. When I had my iPhone 4s, everything worked just fine. But upon "upgrading" to this phone, it doesn't allow me to send or receive texts unless I call someone. Is this normal? Is there a way to fix it where I don't have to call?
I set my phone to allow global data roaming, though I do not use it as my phone is always connected to WIFI.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I have had no problem texting in the US. As I have said before, it is only
while I have been ROAMING IN CANADA. I have tried uninstalling and
reinstalling every 3rd party texting app I have on my phone, and even tried
to use both of the horrendous texting apps that actually came with the
phone. Also like I said before, it simply has a problem RECEIVING text
messages. I can send them just fine. If I do not make a call, I will never
receive texts. I type the entire number when sending a text, this includes
area code because I'm ROAMING and it would FAIL to send to the correct
sender if I was daft enough to not put the area code in front of the
number. I cannot call you for support because that would expend the
remainder of the Canadian minutes I bought specifically for this trip.
What is terribly strange to me, is before, when I was using my iPhone 4S, I
had NO problems sending or receiving texts while roaming, and even received
a message describing both texting and roaming data rates while I stay in
Canada. I did not receive any such message while on this trip with my new
Samsung Galaxy 5. Not that I have been able to receive any sort of text
    lately...

  • TS2755 Texts from other iphone users not coming through while roaming.

I am roaming daily in the US.  Ever since I upgraded to ios 7 my phone won't receive any texts from other iphone users unless I am on wifi.  Texts do come through from non-iphone users.  I do have cellular data shut off while roaming (I don't want to be charged roaming fees for facebook notifications, emails, etc.) but this never stopped texts from arriving before updating.  I pay $20 a month to text from the US and want to be able to utilize this feature!  Any suggestions?

Settings -> Messages --> see what is checked for receiving messages
    Does your iPad have 3G/4G?
If not then most likely the messages are going to your Apple ID email
You can uncheck that and just leave your number checked
It should then come to your phone

  • IMessage intercepting SMSs while roaming

iMessage is a great tool, which I use all the time. However, it has one major flaw while roaming (data roaming off) or out of data coverage.
iMessage can be tied to your cell number across multiple devices. Apple are actively marketing this as a wonderful way to access your message on multiple platforms and even now to "handoff" between devices. It's great to be able to send iMessages (and soon SMSs) from the comfort of your laptop, or the ease of your iPad when your phone is in another room.
The problem is that an SMS is a way of communicating when you are roaming or NOT in data coverage. Apple cleverly came up with the "Send as SMS" option to ensure that your message got delivered to the recipient when the recipient was out of data coverage. This is where things go horribly wrong.
Let's say you're travelling and have left your laptop or iPad in a hotel room (or even the iMac at home). Someone sends you a iMessage and this shows as "delivered" on their device because it was received by one of your many devices. However, it never got to your phone and the "Send as SMS" fallback fails.
I rely on SMS as a basic, but very robust means of communicating. The only was around this is to remove my phone number from all my devices except the phone. Kind of defeats the whole purpose. I think there are solutions to this problem. Thoughts?
Note : This is in essence a version of the class action suit agains Apple by those having left the eco system and illustrates a major design flaw.

    I stand corrected.
After some testing, I have found the following seems to occur. If my MacBook is on the lock screen with no activity and my phone is out of data coverage, messages from someone sending me an iMessage with "Send as SMS" enabled get through to my phone as an SMS.
    This is perfect!

  • Software upgrade while roaming

I couldn't find any reference to this, and while at first the answer seems intuitive, the more I think it about it the more uncertain I become: can I upgrade my iPhone 3G to 3.0 while roaming? I have upgraded to iTunes 8.2 and would be using an Internet-enabled computer so I think that it should be OK and that any (re)registration of my iPhone 3G will be fine, but on the other hand.....
Anyone offer some certainty on this please? Many thanks!

    gordiasUK wrote:
Wifi from my own internet home network. My premise is that the cellular network is incidental to registration rather than a requirement - it's iTunes that activates it, after all. Plus even when roaming the iPhone is "known" to the home network, O2 in this case.
Of course, theory and practice can differ, and I am far from keen to be a guinea pig in this - at least if there do turn out to be issues with 3.0 I will be one of many, rather than in a painfully small minority if I have reactivation problems while roaming!
If you are using O2 to connect to your cpu and create an internet connection that will be expensive to do. I would wait til you get back to the UK.

  • Disable "Allow automatic sync while roaming " in iOS5?

Hi! I would like to know in detail what happens if i disable "Allow automatic sync while roaming " in iOS5?

According to what I can find, it prevents activesync from automatically synchronizing mail, calendars and contacts when the phone roams onto a different carrier network. It can still be synced, but it must be done manually by the user. The intent is to help control data roaming charges.

  • Activesync - long delays in email delivery while roaming / local activesync log on BB10-device?

    Hi,
A couple of our users are experiencing serious delays in email delivery on their BDS-controlled Z10s while roaming. With "serious" I mean delays in the magnitude of hours. This is something however that purely relates to Z10 and the way message sync is done (activesync)
Since we've got both legacy (OS7) devices and BB10-devices on our network I can confirm that email delivery on the legacy devices happens instantly while BB10-devices experience the above mentioned delays when roaming.
    So here are my questions:
Anybody else experiencing this problem (I saw a post under BB10 automatic sync not working while roaming in US mentioning US roaming problems, but in our case it's Europe and travelling between European countries)
Is there a way to get an activesync-log from the Z10s itself showing dates/times of activesync and error-messages respectively? (Afaik the phone has an end-to-end-connection to the activesync/exchange server) - on other platforms (IOS, Androids) you can find a local activesync log on the smartphone so I'm positive that something like this must be present on BB10 too.
Any known cure - or at least an idea how to track this down?
Thanks much in advance for any clue
    -bblacksheep

I don't know if my situation is related or not, but I have (since Friday) been experiencing delays with Gmail on my Z10. However, it's not universal. I have 9 Gmail accounts, and only a subset are affected by delays, while others receive everything immediately. They are all integrated via ActiveSync, and delivery elsewhere (e.g., Outlook client, Gmail webmail inteface) is not affected.
If the problem affected all of my Gmail accounts the same, I might believe that the problem is with BB or my carrier services. But, since it's only affecting a subset, I instead believe my issues to be rooted at Google. Given all they have recently done to alienate the BB platform, I'm actually not terribly surprised either.
Note that no roaming is involved...this is on home network carrier and also almost completely on WiFi. No changes have been made to the configuration...but this behavior started suddenly on Friday. Eventually, everything gets delivered and reconciled...but on some accounts, the delay is quite large.
If your issues can be narrowed down so as to truly know a root cause, and that root cause results in being something in the BB device, OS, or infrastructure, then you need to contact your mobile service provider for formal support and potential escalation up to BlackBerry for enhanced support.
    Good luck!

  • Use prepaid while roaming in Mexico?

I am looking for information on if it is possible to use a Verizon Prepaid phone while roaming in Mexico. I am going to be staying in Cancun Mexico and it looks like Verizon does have service there.
Unfortunately, I am not able to find any information on pricing for phone calls from Mexico on a prepaid plan.
Additionally, I came upon this following website which lists a $15 option to add 1000 minutes in Mexico but it looks like it is only for a Share Everything plan. Is something like this available for prepaid?
    http://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/global/plans-and-pricing.html
Thank you for all your help!

        Hi there sergey333!
What I wouldn't do to enjoy some warm Cancun weather! I definitely want to ensure you get the information you need for your travels and know the rates if you need to stay connected with your Verizon Prepaid services.
It does seem the availability may be dependent on your prepaid plan. If you visit this link: http://vz.to/10zGE60 and use the drop down to select your plan type, choose "View Plan Details", then "More Information" at the bottom of the description.
Within these details it describes the International Roaming Rate is $0.20 per minute, $0.99 per minute from Mexico, and $0.50 to send a text and $0.05 to receive a text.
To ensure you have all of the information you need for your specific plan and phone I would recommend contacting our 24/7 Prepaid Customer Service at 888-294-6804.
Have safe travels and enjoy your trip!

  • Help needed to access internet while roaming

Hi, I m new to this community and do not know properly how to get support. I have I pad mini with retina display, WiFi & Cellular, 32 GB, OS: iOS 7.1.2. To use internet I have taken Vodafone SIM (UP, West, India) which is a handmade nano SIM. I am able to use internet facility when present in home circle. However, when I visit to other states I can not access internet (even after the setting change as a roaming). Whenever I open the browser, message comes on screen "Could not activate cellular data network" or "You are not subscribed to a cellular network service". In this connection I contacted ISP (Vodafone), but they say there is no problem with ISP and suggest me to contact Apple. I made contact with apple too. They made all the heat and trial with the setting but the result was the same. Finally they say this problem could be because of hand cut nano SIM and suggested me to get factory cut nano SIM. I am still having hand cut SIM. I request all of you to help me in this regard so that I could use internet while traveling.
    Thank you
    Arun Verma

Get a factory cut nano sim as Vodaphone suggested. The handout sim seems
to have a problem. Is there some reason you don't want to follow the suggestion
    you have been given?
