Bit locker drive encryption failed due to power failer and hard disk corrupted

I ran Bitlocker drive ecryption drive D. My pc is windows 7 ultimate, while it was in progress of 1% due to power failer the encryption failed, when power resume the drive didn't showed the file format nor the size but it shows the size in disk management.
It showed like this in My computer
I do Have the recovery code password and back of recovery password so I ran the "manage-bde-_unlock D:-rp[my code ]
and my pc got hang  no other option rather than to press the restart button.
then I used commang "repair-bde -force D:I:-rp[my rp] and following info showed but it stucked in 1% about 8 hours, and there was no increase in the pecentage
I also connected the hardisk to mac but all othe partation showed but didn't showed the encrypted one.
I had lots of memorable picture and other backups so any one kindly help me to get out of this problem. Thanks for help

Hi,
The BitLocker encryption and decryption processes can be interrupted by turning the computer off, and it will resume where it left off the next time Windows starts. This is true even if the power is suddenly unavailable.
Bitlocker-repair (repair-bde)  tool
can't repair a drive that failed during the encryption or decryption process.
In addition, could you please explain a bit for what drive you are trying to deal with? external one?
When you first restart your PC, have you seen any signs that indicate that the encryption is in process?
Regarding your scenario, please take a look to see if the following articles could help here:

Besides, when running manage-bde command, did we followed the steps mentioned in the below article?

  • Bit Locker Drive Encryption of Windows Vista

Have just downloaded the Bios Upgrade version 2.2 (QG40 BIOS_W220.exe), but I inadvertently omitted to turn the 'Bit Locker Drive Encryption of Windows Vista' off first, as Toshiba had advised.
Is there any corrections I can make to rectify this omission and ensure the G40 and the software operate correctly?

Thanks for your prompt reply Jeka-Nn. But I have several further questions before going too far with the suggestions as I am not familiar with software modifications.
    1. What am I actually trying to do overall by downloading and using the suggested application.? Can you give me some overall picture of what I am trying to do?
    2. Does this fix the problem without me having to make choices--is it self sufficient/self-installing?
    3. Will it return the system to its correct operational settings before I downloaded the Bios upgrade?
    4. I have downloaded the application suggested, but when I try to open the file it sends up a message that reads:
Error; this installer does not contain any compressed files. To create a self extracting installation package (with embedded files) run:
    "TrueCrypt Setup.exe" /p
When I press OK, it simply reverts to the downloaded list which has the TrueCrypt v7.0 included, but nothing else happens.
What do I need to do to fully install the application?
    5. Are there any other steps /inclusions that I need to make to fully correct my 'stupidity'?
Sorry about all these questions but you can see I am a raw beginner at this work.
    With thanks, rons

  • Power on and hard disk password issue with rescue and recovery ?

I have set a power on and hard disk password to prevent any unauthorized user to boot the computer and thats works fine but the problem is that it can be bypassed very easily by pressing the THINKVANTAGE blue button and going through the initial screen of the rescovery process.
When you reach the main screen of the recovery process just press on "restart system" and on the next boot up you won't be asked for a password and it will boot into Windows. Is there any way to prevent a user to initiate a rescue and recovery to bypass the password or even better a patch that will trigger the password screen as soon as the blue THINKVANTAGE button is pressed ?

I just recently discovered this problem as well.
I'm hoping someone can help us with this.

  • HP Envy 17, Win 7 64 Bit - How do I re-install windows when the old hard disk has failed?

The laptop wont start up and the hard disk fails the diagnostic start-up tests. Restore doesn't work and taking the hard disk out the laptop & connecting to my desktop I can't access the recovery partition. The laptop is out of warranty.
I have a replacement disk drive but as I have no install disks and the recovery partition can't be accessed how do I reinstall the OEM win 7 on the new hard disk?
    Any help would be appreciated.

If the complete 25 character windows activation key is visible on the Microsoft Windows COA on your notebook, you can download an identical iso file from here and install Windows.
Download the drivers from the HP web support portal for your notebook. Put them on a usb flashdisk (thumbdrive) for ease of installation.
Use the Microsoft Windows  7 USD\DVD download tool and a 4GB usb flashdisk (thumbdrive) for the fastest and most reliable means of installing Windows.
This way you can have your laptop in a useable state while you wait for your ordered recovery disk set.

  • Full load from r/3 failed due to bad data and no psa option selected

    SDN Experts,
Full load from R/3 failed loading in to ODS and in the infopackage on psa selected. how to fix it? can i rerun the infopackage again to load from R/3? May be it will fail again? is this a design defect?
i will assign points. Thank you.
    Les

    Hi,
There is obsolutely no prob. in re executing the package, but before that, check
your ODS and Info Source is re active and update rules are also active if any..
and you can check the option of target info provider selected properly along with
the PSA option and also check whether you have any subsequent process like
updating data from ODS to Cube and so on..
You can also check the data availability at R/3 for the respective DS by executing
    RSA3.
    Hope this helps..
    assign points if useful..
    Cheers,

  • HP Pavilion g6-2230ew Start-Up Test and Hard Disk Short DST: Failed

    Hello community,
As you can see, my notebook model is HP Pavilion g6-2230ew.
I bought it one year ago, and it keeps freezing and hangs for about few months.
I've searched what i could do and I did a Start-Up Test to check if its the hard disk problem.
The result was that everything passed, but hard disk short DST failed.
I saw replies for similiar problem with other HP notebooks and solution was a new hard disk.
My warranty is still actual, but I want to ask if there is any other solution than exchanging my hard disk, and if that's what I should do - how long I would have to wait for such service.
    Looking for reply.

Well the hard drive has to be replaced and it sounds like it is overdue. The ordinary means to do that under warranty is to send the laptop to a Service Center. We have heard that, sometimes, when the moon is full and the Call Center rep is in a good mood, they will send you a hard drive, charge your credit card 2 or 3 times what it is worth at retail and refund when you return the defective drive. But that is purely a matter of grace and they do not have to do that. Turn around time varies all over the map from 3 working days to a couple weeks or more and there is no way to predict. A hard drive replacement should fall at the low end of that range since they should always have hard drives for replacement and it is a very easy fix.
On hard drive replacement under warranty, given that a new hard drive is well less than $100, I might be tempted not to lose 4 or 5 days' use of my laptop and come out of pocket myself but that's me and your cost/benefit analysis could be different and likely is.
They will return it to you restored to factory specs and will make no effort to preserve any of your data. When I do send them in for repair I always try to image the drive, if it is not too dead.

  • G570: CD/DVD and Hard Disk drives not recognized

I have a Lenovo G570 laptop. It used to run fine until it started taking longer and longer boot into windows. Soon the computer would not boot into windows and instead try to repair windows, which would finish but never actually repair the computer. Soon after that the CD/DVD drive dissapeard from the BIOS, and it hasn't been able to do anything with a CD except for twirl it around (but not let it read any of that beautiful data.) Soon after this the hard disk was no longer recognized. I have been able ot get the computer to boot off of a linux live flash drive, but that's only a temporary fix. I wasn't able to reach any hard disks thorugh linux to back up files, and the CD drive wasn't recognized either. How can I fix this? Thank you for reading this.

    hi argiflex,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
AFAIK, if the HDD/ODD isn't recognized under BIOS then it's a sign that the device is already failing and needs to be replaced.  You can try using a 2.5" SATA Enclosure to read the drive via the USB port on the G570 or on another PC but if the problem remains then you may need to replace the drive.
If the data on the HDD is very important, you can opt to send the HDD to a professional data recovery firm (i.e. DriveSavers) to recover the data.

  • Hard drive not recognised - do I need a new hard disk?

I have a 2010 year MacBook running Lion. Performance dropped off this week, all actions very slow. Then the machine would not boot, I just got the white screen with the fan circulating at the bottom. I did a re-start with control-R pressed and got the Lion console. I ran disk repair, green initially. Fix Permission was/is red and said to run run repair disk. Then the hard disk cannot be viewed in disk utility. I've been round in circles trying this a few times. I have tried to restore from time capsule and also re-install Lion. The issue is always that the machine cannot find a hard disk to install to. I have also tried putting in the Snow Leopard disk but it will not install the OS from that. Is the hard disk dead? What am I missing? I had the hard disk replaced under warranty in late 2011 just before the 1 year warranty was up. This seems poor to me. Any help appreciated.

That SCSC documentation is quite good. I can see why others are referencing it so often.
With that in mind, you're really facing several possibilities:
    The drive is bad
    The cable is bad
    The system is bad
If you could do something with an external drive, like set it up to boot and load the OS, you could would at least know that the core logic board is functioning properly, excluding the SATA cable, internal HD, and any connections it makes. If it works consistently in that mode, you know the CPU, RAM, and at least most of the connections between the I/O controller are decent. I'm basing this on the SCSC document about "path isolation." I would suggest using Scannerz on it, but your system would need to be at least bootable to do that, and I'm not really sure it is. If you could get an inexpensive external enclosure to swap out drives, you could do some of these tests without needing Scannerz at all. Mind you, it would be a lot easier with Scannerz but not necessary. The big "trick" with Scannerz is that if the results can be replicated from test to test, it's the platters of the drive that are the problem (and in most cases it is), but if you're getting long irregularities or I/O errors and they don't correlate to the surface scan progress, it's either the cable (most likely) or logic board problems.
As an FYI, years ago I had a 14" iBook and it developed some type of bad connection at the junction between the hard drive connector and the logic board. Attempting to use it with an internal HD renderered the system useless. However, by connecting a small FireWire drive in an external enclosure, the system was rendered useful again. Kind of a pain in the posterior to use, but not the end of the world,FWIW. My point is that if the problem ends up being related to the logic board, it doesn't mean that system is useless.
With all this in mind, I'd like to add that Scannerz is a great product. It's clever. Genuinely clever. Using the surface scan progress to segregate drive platter problems, which are typically consistent, and cable/system problems, which typically occur randomly without warning is somewhat ingenious. Using path isolation is also ingenious. However, and I stated this on another thread, the manual that comes with the product is overly technical and long winded. Better information is obtained from their web site, for anyone interested, IMHO.

  • I install window 8 and Unfortunatly all drive format. And all drive mix, now i have only 1 DRIVE C. I want Bit locker Drive's data Back

Last sunday i install a window 8 and this window format my all drive & make it 1 drive (DRIVE C). Before all of this i have 5 drive in different size with 1 Bitlocker protect drive.
So i try data recovery software to recover my data. i got back all my data without that ( bitlocker ) protected drive.
so please guys help me how can i get back data from bitlocker protected drives.
    please please help me.

    Hi,
I sorry for your experience, but there is no way to recovery the data encryped by BitLocker untill now.
BitLocker is designed to make the encrypted drive unrecoverable without the required authentication. When in recovery mode, the user needs the recovery password or recovery key to unlock the encrypted drive. Therefore, we highly recommend
that you store the recovery information in AD DS or in another safe location.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 OSD - Pre Provision Bit-Locker Drive Label Name Issues

I am trying to image machines Pre-provisioned for BitLocker.  Everything works great in the Task Sequence except the Drive Label on Boot is "MININT-XXXXX" rather than the actual computer name.  This happens whether the computer is known
    or unknown.
The only other post regarding this issue I can find suggested changing the OSDComputerName variable name in the TS but that will not work because the hostname is set during the WinPE setup.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f9c6f565-e137-4c59-a8de-7314d9b88fe7/how-to-change-computername-on-bitlocker-pinrecovery-password-screen-drive-label?forum=mdt
I have tried to set the OSDComputerName variable during the Pre-Start and TS but the Drive Label always remains "MININT-XXXXX".
    Any ideas?

First in Customsettings.ini or in a TS set the %OSDComputerName%
Then just add this to a Command in the task sequence before provisioning.
    REG ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\ComputerName\ActiveComputerName /v ComputerName /t REG_SZ /d %OSDComputerName% /f
    REG ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\ComputerName\ComputerName /v ComputerName /t REG_SZ /d %OSDComputerName% /f
SCCM now believes the name of winpe is %OSDComputerName%

  • My hard drive is slow due to i-photo and i-movie

I just bought a LaCie 1TB external HD to store iphoto 5 and imovie 5, because my computer is now so slow! How do I move just these files on to the LaCIe? If I do so, how do I remove the files from my computer's HD to speed it up. It's scary to just trash them! When I want to work on iphoto or i movie, will I be able to do so if they are now on an external drive? I don't want to start this process without being very sure -- I don't want to lose my precious old photos and family movies. Thanks!

1 - you need a minimum of 10GB of free space on your boot drive to avoid speed problems or even data loss
2 - iPhoto is just fine with the iPhoto library on an external drive - just be sure it is available whenever you launch iPhoto, that the external hard drive is directly connected to your mac (not over wireless) and that it is formatted Mac OS Extended (journaled)
3 - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library from the internal drive (the pictures folder is the default location) to the external drive, depress the option (alt) key and launch iPhoto - select the new location and fully test the library in its new location - once it is fully tested quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library on the boot drive to the trash and launch iPhoto and test one more time before emptying the trash and you are set
I do not use iMovie - it would be best to post in the iMovie forum for suggestions on moving it's library to the external drive

  • Power Mac 5500 hard disk woes...

I had a PM 5500 but with a faulty HD. I decided to swap in an 800 MB Quantum Trailblazer from a Performa 5200 I had laying around and was met with some success. However I wanted something a little bigger for my purposes so I found a 40 GB Western Digital Caviar and another 4GB Quantum Fireball SE from an older G3 I have. Here are where my problems start..
To format these, I have been using an external firewire drive enclosure so that I can do it from my Powerbook. So I try formatting and installing Mac OS 9.1 onto the 40 GB and no go. I try again with the 4 GB and still nothing.
    This is what happens...
I boot up the 5500 with one of the other HDs in, and it gives me the floppy question mark error. It spins up, there's a delay before the question marks appears, then the HD sounds like it resets itself and the question mark is shown again. I've checked jumper positions and they are all on master. Just to see if it would help I tried other jumper positions but the computer obviously didn't like that so I was greeted with a black screen.
My question is.. What makes the 800 MB so special that it is allowed to boot, while the other two are victim to a continuous spin up, reset, spin up,
reset cycle. These two drives are both functional, and when I boot into the Mac OS 9 install they are recognized.
It is also important to note that I have tried to copy over the 8.6 system folder that resides on the working HD and copy them over to the other HDs, still met with no success. Also, this 5500 may be living in another chassis. I don't remember exactly but I do remember transplanting mobos from all-in-ones like the 5500 and the 5200 with their respective drives and outer plastics. Not sure if that would change anything.
I think I'm missing something and any help is greatly appreciated... Thanks.
Powermac 5500   Mac OS 9.1.x   Not sure.. But I believe this 5500 lives in another chassis.. I might have swapped it some time ago.

If you format a drive in a firewire case, it might not get the drivers installed that it needs to work internally. Also, if I read your post correctly, you installed OS9 from your PB while the drive was in teh FW box. This is also a problem as the installers often install things that are needed by the computer hte installer is running on.
Is there some reason why you can't boot the 5500 from the OS9 installer and format and install the OS in the 5500? That's your best chance of success.
