Bit locker
when i encryapet a drive in windows7 64 bit power loss and my urgent data drive does not open
Hi,
As I known, If the computer is turned off or goes into hibernation, the BitLocker encryption and decryption process will resume where it stopped the next time Windows starts. This is true even if the power is suddenly unavailable.
Please run following command to check the status of the encryption:
manage-bde -status driveletter:
If the Percentage encrypted is not 10%, please wait for system to resume the encryption, or try to use the command to resume:
manage-bde –resume driveletter:
Hope this could be helpful.

Bit locker Mutliple Drives Mutliple OS's
I have a laptop with two hard drive in it. The primary has Windows 7 Enterprise and is a member of the corporate domain. The secondary has Server 2008 R2 and is a member of the lab domain. There is no trust or association between domain.
The laptop does the Windows multi-boot off the primary drive. I want to enable bit locker to secure the drives.
If the two windows environments were exclusively separate, setting up bit locker on each drive independently would be pretty straight forward, but when I'm in one OS, I will frequently need to get files and data from the other drive (and no, making each
drive big enough to hold all it's own data is not an option, plus the synchronization headache). Both drives will need to be bit locked to their respective OS, but the other drive will need to be accessible.
And not to make things too easy, the secondary drive, which i put in an optical drive bay carrier, routinely gets pulled (not while the system is running, of course) out and popped into a USB case to be used as a library transfer drive.
So....
the Windows 7 drive needs to be natively bit locked. and be accessible when running Windows 2008 from the second drive.
the Windows 2008 R2 drive needs to be natively bit locked, and be accessible when running Windows 7 from the first drive, and be accessible when run as a stand-alone USB drive on another system.
I would appreciate any wisdom you can share to make this all work. And please presume that i know next to nothing about installing and running bit locker, because that's pretty much true.
Let me know if you need more information about my configuration.
ThanksHi,
"and be accessible when run as a stand-alone USB drive on another system."
Firstly, if you enable bitlocker for one drive, it will be encrypted always until you decrypt it. Thus after you insert it to any system, it need to enter the credential to access it.
And then, if you want to access one drive in another computer, you need to get the shared permission. After you' re granted the sufficient permission, you could access it no matter if it's encrypted. Of course, another computer must be started.

Hi,
I loss bit locker password on Dell i-5 laptop, and I also made fresh installation of windows 8. I also loss backup file of BitLocker Recovery Key.
I contain many personal data i.e family pics, movies, and official data. So please help me that I open my drive and recover my data.
Waiting for favorable Help.I'm afraid .. Things will not get going well if you have lost recovery key + password..You have to export it while you are turning
bitlocker on.. If the key and the password is lost, no recovery
I suggest you to type the passwords as you can remember.. and try commonly used passwords by you..
"LOST
bitlocker key?? Can you believe that its the time to reinstall your os again??. Painful but this is true.. If you loose the key there is no way, other than formatting and reinstalling os.. That is why you really really need to keep the key in a safe place"

Problem with recovering data from Bit Locker enabled hard disk with bad sectors
Hi,
I have Lenovo T430 laptop with Windows 7 and Bit Locker enabled hard disk. While working I encountered blue screen error multiple times. After some time, the laptop stopped to boot by itself and started showing error 'A disk read write error has occurred.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart' message. I tried to connect the hard disk to a different PC as a secondary drive and tried to check the disk to recover the data. The 500 GB disk is showing as unallocated space and I am not sure how to recover the
data from the hard disk. Appreciate your help to recover the data from corrupted hard disk.
I used the Lenovo Diagnostics tools available in BIOS and it showed 48 bad sector errors on the hard disk. I also used Windows 7 CD and tried auto repair but it looks like it didn't do anything.
Thanks in advance!Hi SenneVL,
Since there are 48 bad sectors on your hard disk, this means the system can not boot any more, the data might not be restored in a normal way, you'd better turn to data restore company for help.

Hi,
If you lost recovery key and are unable to access the disk at this moment, then I'm sorry but I have to say that you're lost. If the data in that encrypted drive is very important for you, then you might need a data recovery center to help you.

Bit Locker Drive Encryption of Windows Vista
Have just downloaded the Bios Upgrade version 2.2 (QG40 BIOS_W220.exe), but I inadvertently omitted to turn the 'Bit Locker Drive Encryption of Windows Vista' off first, as Toshiba had advised.
Is there any corrections I can make to rectify this omission and ensure the G40 and the software operate correctly? Thanks for your prompt reply Jeka-Nn. But I have several further questions before going too far with the suggestions as I am not familiar with software modifications.
1. What am I actually trying to do overall by downloading and using the suggested application.? Can you give me some overall picture of what I am trying to do?
2. Does this fix the problem without me having to make choices--is it self sufficient/self-installing?
3. Will it return the system to its correct operational settings before I downloaded the Bios upgrade?
4. I have downloaded the application suggested, but when I try to open the file it sends up a message that reads:
Error; this installer does not contain any compressed files. To create a self extracting installation package (with embedded files) run:
"TrueCrypt Setup.exe" /p
When I press OK, it simply reverts to the downloaded list which has the TrueCrypt v7.0 included, but nothing else happens.
What do I need to do to fully install the application?
5. Are there any other steps /inclusions that I need to make to fully correct my 'stupidity'?
Sorry about all these questions but you can see I am a raw beginner at this work.
With thanks, rons -
HI.
I would like to find out what would happen if I were to user the bit-locker to encrypt my drive and all it files but at the same time ,the files that's in my one-drive are synced with 365 and shared among many other users.
When they open their one drive will the file I updated be encrypted forcing them to enter a decryption password as well.
thanksno
The file encryption is part of the filesystem. When the file is transferred it is sent unencrypted.

Sreekanth.Hi,
As narcoticoo mentioned, do we have TPM chip on the computer? Please take a look into Device Management, if the TPM driver is installed then it will show up in the Device Manager, under Security Devices as mentioned.
Please also take a look at the below article regarding how to turn on/off bitlocker without TPM:
How to trun on or off bitlocker without a TPM for Windows 7 Drive

is it possible to enable the bit locker only for windows 8.1 machines through windows 2008 r2 server group policy ?
Thanx and Regards,
ShanifHi Shanif,
Yes, we can do this.
Regarding how to enable Bitlocker via group policy, the following article can be referred to as reference.
Cannot Save Recovery Information for Bitlocker in Windows 7
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2010/02/16/cannot-save-recovery-information-for-bitlocker-in-windows-7.aspx
After configuring the settings, we can use security filtering or WMI filtering to apply the policy to specific computers.
Regarding this point, the following blog can be referred to for more information.
