Bit of a difficult one

Okay so here is the persistent problem,
I have an iPhone 4 and ever since updating to iOS 7 i have had endless problems.
The biggest one being that every app that i have ever bought/downloaded, keep downloading all at once and it happens when i try to download a previously purchased app.
in full detail.
i open the app store go to purchased, scroll through untill i find the app i want to download again (This time GTA 3)
a message pops up saying that i have previously purchased this app so wont have to pay again and i have to click ok.
after clicking okay it shows my app is downloading i go to the home screen and after about 30-40 seconds it dissapears
i try again and the same happens including the message. but after it dissapears this time i will get the grey box that appears before the app logo/icon appears. then 1 by 1 or even 3 in one go. it wont stop even if i dissconect from wi/fi and mobile data.
the only way i can stop it is by plugging it in and restoreing the iphoine
if anyone can help please!!!

If you have endless problems with the update, you can restore it via iTunes but backup before you do so. Problems might be caused from OTA update.
Set Settings>General>International>Language>English
Settings>iTunes & AppStore>Sign out and sign back in.
You can also tried a hard reset by holding power and home button till it restarts and release power when u see apple logo.
You can also Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network settings.

Bit of a strange one.... HD Movies "Judder" when streaming to ATV2

Bit of a strange one.... all my HD Movies since the latest ATV2 update "Judder" when streaming.
It's very hard to describe but whenever there is a fast Zoom or Pan shot the image flickers for around half a second. It seems to happen every 20 seconds or so, this has only been the case since the latest update of ATV2.
I purchased Tron Legacy (HD) from the iTunes store and it occurs when playing that movie. It also happens on all my self generated HD contect.
Strangely it does not occur when streaming to my 1st Gen Apple TV, which makes me think it has nothing to do with my Home Network setup, as they are both connected via Ethernet cables.
There is only a problem with HD Streaming and ATV2.
Any assistance would be appriciated

The last update seems to have introduced a feature which lets the Apple TV detect the native frequency of your TV, in the UK this is probably but not always 50 Hz, this is beneficial for Home video and broadcast content in these locations where the frame rate is 25 fps. It isn't ideal for 30 fps or 24 fps content though which most of the iTMS movies and TV shows are.
Also of relevance is that some TV's make a better job of telecine/detelecine than others due to the quality of their components.
Although I don't necessarily think that Apple are responsible for the ability of 3rd party TV's, the problem could be easily overcome by allowing the user to manually select the Apple TV output as was the case with the Apple TV 1. This would allow the user to switch to 60 Hz for 30/24 fps content and 50 Hz for 25 fps content.
Some TV's have motion settings which worsen/improve the situation depending on their settings.

Synaptics touchpad on HP Mini 110 Windows 7 32 Bit - not working for one user - working for another

Hi,
I recently have an issue with Synaptics touchpad on HP Mini 110 Windows 7 32 Bit - NOT working for one user - working for another.
Windows 7 updates recently installed ???
By checking the device properties on the user that works - "Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad 13/10/2011 Version 15.3.29.0"
When the other user logs on, the touchpad works for a few seconds, then a displays a black square with a red diagonal line through it, then the touchpad won't respond. Trying to use the keypad to navigate to system diagnosics or anything to find further info is useless....

I will do my best in assisting to hopefully get the TouchPad to work on the second user profile.
What I would like to start off with, is to restore the original Synaptics drivers onto the profile that is not working correctly. I have included the document Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7).
Once you have installed the original drivers, you will need to complete all updates from both HP, as well as Windows. For these updates, if you open the HP Support Assistant, and select Maintain, you should see an option for updating.
Please let me know how these steps do work out for you.

Bit of a strange one this. Any help appreciated.

I have been stuck on a PPC g5 2gb dual tower for the last 8 years. 12 months ago the internal power died and I paid to have it repaired. A couple of weeks this happened again. It's not really economical for me to repair it and I really need to be getting up to speed before I fall further behind the Mac community. With this in mind I took the plunge and bought a new MacBook pro this week. I am excited about the possibility of this machine but my issue is this. I presume it will come with lion or mountain lion installed.
My G5 tower had two internal drives one with leopard and one tiger. A newish western digital caviar black 1.5 tb disc which was partitioned into a 1tb and a 500 mg drive. Both these were to host the OS 10.5.8 my files iTunes iPhoto mail docs and other bits. The other internal drive was a bootable 10.4.7? Disc running audio apps cubase etc
I presume the internal discs are still intact and readable although the Mac is dead. How will I migrate the data to the new MacBook pro. Is it advisable to buy an external usb3 enclosure and get the data somehow that way. Then I can use these drives as backups for the new Mac.
I know most poc programs I had will need to be replaced. However will I be able to get my iPhoto and iTunes library back from the redundant drives and what about my mail? Is there anything else I need to be aware of and will it be a complete nightmare or would this process be straight forward. I know I am moving three operating systems ahead so I can only imaging I may have some difficulty. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely. However, do note that it might in all likely hood boot with Snow Leopard, since the firmware has changed. At least that's the consensus amongst those buying up iMacs, MacPros, and MBPs. Apparently, won't work with the ones shipping with retina displays. That said, it might behoove you to spend $20 USD and get a Snow Leopard install disc. Borrow another machine, install it onto an external HD, update it to 10.6.8 and other OS X apps, and try booting the new MBP with it.

If successful, whether or not you wipe Lion/ML from the MBP, clone the SL volume to it, or clone the Lion/ML volume to the ext HD (another partition) so you can play with it, is up to you.
Bottom line is you can probably do most of your current Leopard work with the MBP running SL. If so, then you can take your time examining whether or not to move forward to the iOSified OSs, Lion and ML. I compute with SL and play with the others, but, since I have no iOS or wireless devices, they don't offer much for computing and minor security improvements.

64 bit version of Business One

I have looked at the supported platform list on this portal and see no mention of when SAP plans to release a 64 bit version of SAP B1. The current versions will run on a Windows 2008 Server x64 platform but they appear to still be running as a 32 bit application.
Has anyone heard?

Thanks Gordon. I wasn't implying they should replace the 32 bit version only that they should release a 64 bit version like Microsoft does for SQL Server and you can choose which one you want to install.
Since SAP B1 likes memory, having native access to more than 4 GB would probably help it perform better.
I think SAP moved to 64 bit only on their other SAP platforms.

Separating 16 bits of data into one 12 bit and one 4 bit channel

I have 16 bits of binary data and i'm trying to split these into one 12 bit and one 4 bit channel. I know that I could use something like:

but, i'm not sure how to grab those 4 bits out of the 16 bit channel1 and make channel2. It's like i almost need to say something like:

32-bit mode and only one Instrument?!?!

I have my Logic Studio/Pro 9.1.3 set to run in 64-bit mode... But unfortunately I can only view one Virtual Instrument at a time. Is there anyway to view multiple instrument interfaces or is this just a limitation of running in 64-bit mode.
Also, if this is a limitation of 64-bit mode will they eventually add the ability to open more than one V.I. at a time? I like to jump between virtual instruments and the 32-bit VIs (Which most of mine are) only run one at a time.

Strictly speaking it is a limitation of using 32-bit plugins in 64 bit mode. The plugins don't run in Logic anymore, so you effectively switch to a different program (32b AU bridge) when opening the interface of 32 bit plugins.
It is just a waiting game until most/all 3rd party plugs and instruments are 64 bit, or until the 32bAUbridge has improved to indeed show multiple GUI's at a time.

No idea what the plans are of the Logic developers. I hope they'll improve it, I expect they'll improve it, but I don't know anything for sure in that respect.

When I open a new window, it always opens a bit to the right , or to the left, or a bit above the last one opened. Is there a way to avoid this?

Are you using a bookmark? There is a little-known feature of bookmarks that can load them in Firefox's sidebar. This allows you to work with two pages side-by-side. To change that setting, right-click the bookmark > Properties, then uncheck the box for "Load this bookmark in the sidebar".
(You probably didn't set this yourself. If you use a link on a website to have the site add a bookmark to Firefox, due to restrictions on what sites can do, those will always be targeted toward the sidebar.)
If that's not it, have you noticed any pattern in when this happens?

Hi, a bit of a complicated one :)

We have move from Switzerland to Italy and I used a time capsule as back up disk and wireless in Switzerland. The Italian telephone company came to install the internet with their own wireless router and had no idea what to do with my time machine. We do have internet working but am not sure if I can connect my my time machine to the wireless router? Also would like to know if I can just plug in my time machine into my MacBook Pro with an ethernet cable to enable me to back up my computer?

Bit of a weird one!

A strange problem just started happening yesterday & continues randomly. Every now & then the sides of my Desktop reduce by 8mm on the L & 4mm on the R. Whereas the desktop should cover the entire screen it is now pure black on the L & R sides. However this problem recovers all by itself every now & then. It keeps happening. Any suggestions?

Maybe your monitor geometry is starting to go? Are you using a CRT? I'd try hooking up a second monitor and seeing if the problem reproduces itself first.

We're tyring to find the best way to solve the following, hope you can help please.
We have a fairly large table of users (2500+) and the users belong to 1 or more groups (at the moment the max number of groups a user is in is 32 but it changes daily).
A sample data set looks like:

Apart from that can you tell why is it that you need this ResultSet. It makes no sense at all. I am assuming that either you are mapping this with AD, LDAP or Kerberos. If you are using Kerberos, the TMS already have these
combinations(not permutations); (in your case -> 3C1 + 3C2 + 3C3=7). If you are mapping with AD or LDAP then I am not quite sure where is that stored but in case of LDAP, I believe that the search operation will take care
of all the LDAP DN.
But I am still not clear, why do you need this. What will you achieve with this that a role is assigned to a user in some group.(that too all the combinations of the group.
It means if the results aren't alphabetically ordered then, for MouseM, we'd need to additionally see.

No further data from the LDAP is readily available and the users are added to groups individually using a printed out cheat sheet matrix of which groups correspond to a role!
I need to know the Roles for an attestation/recertification exercise since the roles have owners/custodians who have to say whether the user needs the role (and therefore groups).

How can I work out the fact that full time employees are entitled to 28 days hoilidays in a year, and how can we stop counting for the previous year and start a new count if that employees first 365 days in employment has elapsed.
Now, I have the procedure below to insert holiday_taken per month for entitled employees

To stop records being inserted when the 28 days entitlement has been reach in the first 365 years of employment and secondly, for another 28 days to start counting afresh in the 2nd and subsequent years of employment.
to help, I have a query below that counts holidays taken for each employee within their first 365 days of employment, but would not be effective when employee go on to their second and subsequent years of employment.

Employee has already used up his 28 days holiday entitlement, and should not be able to have another day until he has used up his first year oif he is in his first year. His next 28 days does not become available again to him until his next 365 days commences, so we should be calculating from hire_date.

HT4113 My daughter changed her pass code to the more difficult one involving letters and #'s. she forgot what it was and tried several times and now her IPad says IPad is disabled connect to ITunes. What can we do to get into the IPad?

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
