Bit-rate -- please help

I have a Video Ipod ( 60gig ) and an Ipod HiFI speaker system. When I went to buy I tunes, I saw they are only 128 bitrate -- will they be ok? Don't you get better sound with higher bitrate? What do most people use and why

I have this problem also. I have not had trouble installing any previous version of iTunes. I am mystified why now it is a problem.

First post here, but I've been trying to figure out a solution towards iTunes opening my iPhone 4 so I can sync it. But every time I sync it, it gives me a message saying "This iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started".
To try and resolve this, I tried the enabling "Apple Mobile Device" in services method, but when I try to start the service again, I get yet another message from Windows saying "The Apple Mobile Device service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs".
At a first glance, I thought I needed iTunes to be running my iPhone whilst I try to turn the service on, but all I get is the same message saying "The Apple Mobile Device service on Local Computer......", either if the device is connected and attempting to run or not.
This problem appeared out of nowhere when I plugged it in, just to sync some songs and pictures to it. So I don't know what's causing this issue!
And yes, I uninstalled iTunes 10.4.1 and Apple Mobile Device and then reinstalled them. But the issue still continued. Grrr......
It has lasted a stressful 3 days now and if anyone knows a solution or can find one, please let me know as soon as possible.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Uninstalled MediaSmart TV, Now I can't reinstall it, Please help

Hello, I have a HP HDX X18T-1100 CTO. My TV audio was out of sync, so I did an update for the TV. Then error messages for the TV kept coming up, so I decided to uninstall the MediaSmart TV from the control panel and reinstall it using the HP drivers. The HP driver sp37430 failed to install saying that I have a new version on the system. I've also tried sp42505, sp43648, sp43595, sp43747, and sp4877, and some other sp files to no avail. I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. Please help me reinstall the MediaSmart TV. By the way, the other MediaSmart applications are working including the MediaSmart DVD, Music, Video, and Photos. It is just my TV that is gone. Thank you in advance for your help.
If I can't reinstall the MediaSmart TV. What other programs can I use to use my TV Tuner. The TV Tuner shows up in my control panel. Thanks

First of all, this forum is not very helpful. It doesn't look like there are any HP technicians assigned to support the forums.
Anyway, I was able to fix my problem by myself. The MediaSmart system is not as straightforward as other typical programs.
Here was the solution that worked for me. I did a system restore and was able to get the TV feature to return to the MediaSmart program. However, it was still not working, although the option was back. Then I ran sp42505 and it fixed the the TV. It also seemed to have fixed the audio sync problem.
sp42505 was not even offered in the software files available for my notebook. The update that was available from HP for my notebook was what caused the problem in the first place. Actually, it was the problem with the audio sync that got me to screw around with everything. Then the update caused the resident program failure issue. Thanks HP for providing faulty software and then offering updates to make it even worse. And finally, not provide any guidance to fix the problem.

_iiopClient.jar is not generated - please help!

I have an application where an EJB exposes its remote interface to the web application. The web application can ONLY call this EJB from the ejb application, no other. All other EJBs are accessed locally from this EJB (Business Delegate pattern).
The problem is that normal Java casting fails for the home object returned by the JNDI context lookup. So I am using PortableRemoteObject.narrow() and it predictably fails with the message that _iiopClient.jar is required on the classpath.
So, on OEM, I enabled IIOP for the target server instance by checking all three options:
Generate IIOP Client Stubs when Compiling EJBs
IIOP Wrapper Code Debug Mode
Keep Generated IIOP Source Code
Now I am deploying the application, but the iiopClient.jar is nowhere to be seen. Please tell me what I am doing wrong; or what alternatives do I have to get this application working.
I am using Oracle AS 10.1.3

Bit Rate too high Error - have specific details about files - please help

Just finished a project and went to burn the first DVD. It starts muxing the first mpeg2 video file and comes up with this error. Below are the specs for all the files on the DVD. Please take a look and let me know where I went wrong. Thanks a lot.

As far as the bit rate, I checked it and am exporting
currently to a max of 5 with an average of 4.5 (for
the video).
The audio is AIFF all the way, I think encoding in
Dolby is something a newer version fo compressor
does. I have FCP 4.5 with DVDSP 3.
I did export the audio as PCM AIFF, didn't shrin kthe
size in fact enlarged it slightly.
Do you figure if I have a bit rate max of 5 on video
with 3 1.5 bit rate audio tracks, I'll be all right?

With your version of FCP & DVDSP, you'll need to encode the audio into Dolby Digital 2.0 with A.Pack, which is a separate program on your hard drive. With Final Cut Studio, Apple did away with A.Pack and merged its functionality into Compressor.

When I Tick Convert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps and press sync it says are you sure you want to remove apps. Help please

Hi, I recently put music on my ipad (manually, I do not sync because I dont like leaving music in my itunes) I realised they take up a lot of space because of the bit rate so I went into iTunes and pressed "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC" Then I pressed apply and I got the message "Are you sure you want to remover 113 apps......." I have checked and sync Apps is unticked so my question is why does it say this and is there a way around it. Also if i tick convert to AAC will it convert the songs already on my ipad or just ones I add from now on.

Since you now want to sync the iPad and have told it you do not want to sync apps, it will remove them all.
Check the apps you want on the iPad.

It will only convert new songs added to the iPad.

Please Help with Compressor bit rate formulation....

This is my first time with Compressor 2.
I am used to working with Compressor1.
After I compressed a couple of sequences and brought them into DVD SP4.
My disk meter read 6.1 gb.
I compressed a total of 2hours and 11minutes at 4.2 mbps.
Using AC3 for my audio.
According to my calculations that should of worked.
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?
Did they add something to the new compressor that I should have set?

hey marco, what are you using as your calculations?
usually what i do is a get multiply the audio in seconds by the bit-rate of the audio i am using (0.192 .ac3 stereo).
then i take that sum and subtract it from the product of the disc size minus 5% of head room (dvd-r = 37600 Mbits)
finally i take that remainder and divide that by the product seconds of the movie.
that gives me the average bit-rate.
for my max i just add 2 to the number!
so in your case:
131 x 60 x 0.192 = 1510 Mbits
then:
1510 - (37600 x 0.05) = 34210 Mbits left for video
finally:
34210 / (131 x 60) = 4.35 Mbps for average and:
4.35 + 2 = 6.35 Mbps max
shoot we kinda got the same numbers. so what settings are you using?
is your audio stereo or surround sound?
are you using a 2 pass vbr?

PLEASE HELP ME. 12.1.1 itunes does NOT work for my windows 7 64 bit

I have read all the tutorials on here and elsewhere online and nothing works. My cousin goes to school for MIS help and she couldnt even figure out whats going on.
I HAVE DONE THIS NUMEROUS TIMES!
- Made sure my windows had all the necessary updates and everything was installed.
- I uninstalled ALL itunes products in the proper order according to apple discussions.
- Went through all the folders in program files.
- Reinstalled it and I get an error message. ( Apple mobile device service (apple mobile device service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services )
- I have gone through the Services window and tried stopping and restarting the program but I get an error message. (Windows could not start the Apple Mobile Device Service service on Local Computer - Error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion) I have gone through all the start and stop tutorials and none of them have worked.
- I have tried clicking ignore and sometimes it finishes installing but then gives me an new error message. ( iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (windows error 193) - I tried reinstalling and nothing.
- I tried finding the ituneshelper download but couldnt find it, I've also tried repairing and nothing works.
- I had downloaded and older version of itunes a few days ago that WAS working the 12.1 version (NOT 12.1.1) but then my cousin came to see if she could fix it and now I can't even download that version.
I am OUT OF options and I dont want to have to spend the money on support. Can some one PLEASE HELP ME!!! I have been trying to fix this for days.

Hi Thank you, the apple mobile service links did not work, i had tried them all. however that same link with the previous versions worked. I had to download the one below and I can at least use itunes.

My laptop does not detect my ipod mini (2nd gen 1 gb), when i connect it the orange light flashe 2 or 3 times then nothing happens. if ever that it will be detected by my laptop and when i sync music on it there will be an error and itunes will suggest to restore it to its factory setting and if i choose to restore it error 3194 happens. so my top priority of course is for it to be detected then fix the latter. please help any will be much appreciated

This is an Answer for a Possible Solution. It worked for me and is still working. The issue I was having with my 64 bit vista, was Apple Mobile Device Service was not being installed, I dont know why. But I disabled any active running program through MSCONFIG, to allow a clean uninterrupted install of ITUNES 8.02. This allowed AMDS and drives from ITUNES to install. Hope this works for most of you.
APPLE, please review your Support Methods. Re-installing doesnt help an issue that resulted from installing.
