Bitdefender Quickscan Firefox plugin is broken on firefox 36 in WIP

Just figured I would post this for other users.  You need to contact Bitdefender as we have no special knowledge of it
Wanikiya and Dyami--Team Zigzag

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
* [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
* [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
* [http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/disinfection/5350 Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller]
* [http://general-changelog-team.fr/en/downloads/viewdownload/20-outils-de-xplode/2-adwcleaner AdwCleaner] (for more info, see this [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ alternate AdwCleaner download page])
* [http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ Hitman Pro]
* [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
[http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

  • After Installing Bitdefender 2011 Firefox is very slow and worse when multiple tabs are open

Firefox performs very poorly after I installed Bitdefender 2011. There was no such problem with Bitdefender 2009. When multiple tabs are open, switching between them is not possible until tab contents are completed.

As ninjafox says, the problem seems to be the BitDefender Anti-phishing Toolbar. Disabling this through Tools -> Add-ons and restarting Firefox seems to fix the problem for that session. However, the problem then reappears when the computer is restarted, presumably because BitDefender re-enables the toolbar.
Another way of disabling all add-ons when starting Firefox is to hold down Shift while clicking on the icon (Windows only I think - at least doesn't work on Ubuntu for me).

  • Jsp:plugin seems broken on WL 8.1

              Hi.
I've tried using the <jsp:plugin> tag in a JSP page, conforming to Sun's JSP
1.2 spec. It works alright with Tomcat, but it fails on WL8.1: the tag is passed
as is into the resulting HTML.
After hours of investigations, it seems that the WL server only transforms correctly
the <jsp:plugin> tag, as long as there is no nested JSP syntax in it. However,
the JSP 1.2 spec explicitely states that some parts of the <jsp:plugin> tag can
be JSP expressions of the form <%=xxx%>. It is allowed, for instance, in the height
and width attributes, and as applet attribute values in <jsp:param>.
Is it a known problem? I have found no reference to this limitation in any BEA
              documentation.
              Thanks.

  • Is the plugin page broken?

Simple question, and of course I am asking it on a Sunday when no one wants to fool around with stuff...but...the Plugin page here:
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
is reporting Flash "Update Now", which I did twice and then and installed twice, again, from windows Control Panel, and then checked once more from the Adobe Site here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
which tells me I am using the latest version, 16.0.0.287, the same version the Plugin page reports is "vulnerable."
Either, 1.) the plugin page is messed up, 2.) the plugin page is right but Adobe has not yet released the version needed (which seems unlikely) or 3.) just earlier this week I reported an issue with the Google Prefs cookie here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1042916
And the plugin page is sourcing in part from ssl.google-analytics.com and now won't work for me.
I think I've seen this before, however, it was something wrong with the plugin page and the advise of the time was just to "ignore it until it's fixed."
Just reporting an issue, Mozilla friends. I don't like bothering people twice in one week. ;-)
    Regards,
    Axis

hello, adobe has released a critical patch to mitigate yet another vulnerability in its flash plugin, which is reportedly already exploited in the wild. https://helpx.adobe.com/security/products/flash-player/apsa15-01.html
please update to Adobe Flash Player version 16.0.0.296 as soon as possible, which you can download from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (use the windows-exe for plugin-based browsers).

  • Why does Firefox Security Updates 3.6.8 & 3.6.9 say installed on Dec.31, 1969? Details link doesn't work. The 3.6.7 was installed on July 21, 2010.

I saw a quick Firefox notice at the lower corner of my screen about security updates available or being installed so when I checked to see what they were, I found an installed update 3.6.7 on 7-20-2010, and the next one 3.6.8, said installed on 12-31-1969, the next one 3.6.8 says installed on 12-31-1969, and the last one 3.6.10 installed on 9-16-2010. I've clicked on the details link but nothing happens. Firefox has been acting a little strange lately (won't get out of Firefox when I click out of it unless I shut down my laptop, using 100% CPU and freezing so I have to shut down through Task Manager) can it be some kind of bug/glitch?

Firefox safe mode is meant for diagnostic purposes and not for permanent usage.
Possible suspects can be the BitDefender extensions (BitDefender QuickScan, BitDefender Antiphishing Toolbar) and plugin (BitDefender QuickScan Web Netscape Plugin)
You can also remove the Java Console extensions and disable the Java Quick Starter extension.<br />
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions
Disable the Java Quick Starter extension: Tools > Addons > Extensions
Control Panel > Java > Advanced tab > Miscellaneous >Java Quick Starter (disable)
See http://www.java.com/en/download/help/quickstarter.xml - What is Java Quick Starter (JQS)? What is the benefit of running JQS? - 6.0
If it does work correctly in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />

  • 9.0.124.0 Update - Firefox Illegal Operation

My system, Windows XP SP3, IE 7, Firefox 2.0 , Flash Player
9.0.124.0. After a recent Windows update which included SP3 I had
to install Flash Player latest version for IE7. The normal Flash
download and install wouldn't work. It caused IE7 to crash
repeatedly. Followed Adobe's online recommendations - uninstall and
redownload didn't work. Downgrading IE7 security to medium didn't
work. The Adobe Flash uninstall tool didn't work. Their final
online solution (which required several steps) regarding Windows
registry permissions was successful for IE7in my case: from the
    Adobe technote -
"Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that
prevent the Flash Player installation. For instruction on how to
run SubInACL to fix these permission issues please refer to
"Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that
prevent the Flash Player installation" (TechNote fb1634cb)."
Of course I was using Firefox 2.0 to do this online
troubleshooting (version info: latest version - Mozilla/5.0
    (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404
Firefox/2.0.0.14). Flash had always worked fine in Firefox
previously for me. Firefox is my preferred (default) browser. I use
IE7 only for a very few Microsoft and other sites that
display/download correctly only via IE7 (including Microsft
Update). Now following the suggested IE7 fix, my Firefox
    Flashplayer plugin is broken.
When I first opened Firefox after the IE7 fix, any pages with
Flash reported the missing plugin message. Using the Firefox
"Install missing plugins" feature tried to install the Flash Player
Plugin but failed. Visiting the Adobe website and following the
download and install Flash Player instructions with Firefox seemed
to work. The Flash plugin reported successful install. Now visiting
almost any Flash enabled website in Firefox results in this Firefox
    error message -
"Shockwave flash: The plugin has performed an illegal operation.
You are strongly advised to restart Firefox"
Now uninstalling and re-installing Flashplayer are not
working for Firefox. Searching the forums here doesn't give any
recent instance of this error message for version 9.0.124.0 (that I
can find anyway...) that seem pertinent. I need to get Adobe Flash
Player working with Firefox 2.0 again. Any help appreciated.
    - note - don't use any 3rd party pop-up blockers etc. Do use
anti-virus AVG 8.0 Free (disabled for installs/uninstalls) with
their LinkScanner tool disabled. thx - Andy

  • Quicktime movies in Firefox 3.0.2

Since I've installed the newest version of Firefox, i can't seem to open any quicktime movies inside my browser (it shows me the message that it lacks a plugin, altough it says being installed when i go to the Extras section).
    Any help? Thanks already.

I think I'm having the same problem.
Firefox doesn't play any quicktime video from apple site. Let's take any Mac x PC ad, for example.
    Versions: Firefox 3.0.2, Quicktime 7.5.5, Leopard 10.5.5.
    Background:
The Safari plugin was broken until I removed the /Library/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin today so now, Safari is good to go.
    What I've already tried:
Firefox on the other hand apparently uses the /Library/QuickTime Plugin.plugin filder, which exists. If I remove it, Firefox doesn't display any more messages regarding the lack of a plugin and the video doesn't play - I've waited about 2 minutes on an 3MB ADSL connection. After this I reinstalled Quicktime 7.5.5 and the folders were there again. Removed the Safari one and Safari was ok again. Firefox was still no good. As the about:plugins address on Firefox showed something like this:
aplicativo/sdp Descritor de transmissão SDP sdp Sim
aplicativo/x-sdp Descritor de transmissão SDP sdp Sim
aplicativo/x-rtsp Descritor de transmissão RTSP rtsp, rts Sim
    v Filme QuickTime mov,qt,mqv Sim
v Vídeo para Windows avi,vfw Sim
v Vídeo para Windows avi,vfw Sim
v Vídeo para Windows avi,vfw Sim
    v AutoDesk Animator flc,fli,cel Sim
    Áudio WAVE wav,bwf Sim
I'm pretty pretty shure that this a Localization problem because it doesn't display the letters with accent:
    video == vídeo
    audio == áudio
So I've tried to edit the file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist to this:
    1 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    2 <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

    17 <key>WebPluginTypeEnabled</key>
    18 <false/>
    19 </dict>
    ... (many more lines)
with console's vim. Reopened Firefox ant it was the same: when try to access a video page, Plugin not found... Still not happy, I tried to remove the pref and restart Firefox. Still not good...
Opened System Preferences/Quicktime/Advanced(tab) in Mime, changed some codec to false and the file went back to pt_BR:
    1 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    2 <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

  • Firefox memory footprint

    greetings,
i write regarding the memory footprint of the mozilla-firefox package for arch.  i downloaded the gtk2/xft binary of firefox 0.9 from the mozilla website and used it in anticipation of the arch package being released.  previously on my arch box i had used the mozilla-fire* package rather than the mozilla.org binary.  but now i have noticed a discrepency in memory footprint between the two.  'ps v' gives for the arch package and mozilla.org package, respectively:
    <pre>
    1798 pts/1    S      0:04      0    66 37829 23280 18.2 /opt/mozilla-firefox/l
    1979 pts/1    S      0:06      9  9190 27345 19564 15.3 /tmp/firefox/firefox
    </pre>
both were taken immediately after firefox startup.  this seems to be a pretty significant difference.  it is enough for me to prefer the mozilla.org package on my obsolete box with 128 megs ram, anyway.
p.s.  i've been using arch for some time now.  i would just like to take this opportunity to thank those who created and maintain arch linux.  it is an enjoyable distribution

i have mozilla-firefox using mem this way:

  • My security software controls the license verifications, firefox refuses to acknowledge this.

I am running BitDefender Total Security 2012, it manages all the licensing and verification for websites. BitDefender has a root kit that it keeps trying to give to firefox to show that the site has already been verified by BitDefender, but firefox will not accept it. Any website that requires a user name and password, including gmail, facebook, and websites for my school (I am an IT student at the local community college) firefox refuses to load it saying that it can't verify the site when BitDefender already verified it. Instead of loading the page it just shows the box with the yellow man holding a flag. How do I make FireFox comply?

  • Despite settings, firefox does not clear history.

Had this problem with vista and now with windows 7 (full instal - not upgrade) - Security settings for firefox are to wipe everything when closed - firefox32.exe hangs when program closed and history (etc) is not cleared. System is 64 bit. Possible causes (symptoms I've noticed) are - MTV stream open when computer rests - divx or megavideo stream open when computer rests - none of these things work everytime so it's hard to tell what causes it - has been a problem with two versions of windows.

The sessionstore.js file that stores session data includes cookies from open tabs, so if tabs are restored and you haven't logged out then you may still be logged on unless the session has expired via other ways.
You can set the <b>browser.sessionstore.privacy_level</b> pref to 2 (never) or 1 (non-HTTPS) on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable saving cookies via session restore in the sessionstore.js file.
The browser.sessionstore.privacy_level_deferred pref is used when you do not reopen the previous session automatically via "Show my windows and tabs from last time" and uses the same values.

  • Why does Firefox wipe it's settings every startup?

I'm running the latest version of Firefox on my Mac. Firefox happens to wipe it's internal settings every time I start up the program giving me the import setting option to gain information from other browsers on the computer. Simply closing the program and opening it again causes this issue and I have no idea what could be causing it.
Removing Firefox and reinstalling it doesn't fix the issue nor does restarting it. I believe it maybe an issue with it requiring permissions to save it's settings but I've no idea where to find them and how to fix that.

A possible and likely cause is a problem with the profiles.ini file
    *Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\<br>C:\Users\&lt;user&gt;\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\&lt;profile&gt;\
    *Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/
    *Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
You can use one of these to make Firefox create/use a new default profile:
*Delete the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile
*Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
*Use "Choose Folder" when you create a new profile to select the location of a lost profile and recover this profile

  • [Crash] Plugin without intl support on intl OS

(I apologize if this is the wrong place - I'm new here)
Platform: Windows XP SP2; tested with Mozilla Firefox (1.0) and Microsoft Internet Explorer (6.0).
Java Plugin version: Java Plug-in 1.5.0_01 for Netscape Navigator
    java version "1.5.0_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_01-b08)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_01-b08, mixed mode, sharing)
These steps seem to crash the browser when the Java Plugin is started:
    1. Install the JRE:
    1.1 Select Custom install
1.2 Do not install internationalization support
    2. Set computer to have non-US (or maybe non-Latin?) locale - I had Japanese
    3. Go to a page with a Java applet in the browser.
    4. Browser dies.
Basically, if you don't install the intl support but use an OS that requires one, the plugin crashes, bringing down the browser. Using something that actually exists would probably help a lot.
For step 2, using Microsoft's AppLocale also triggers the bug (so one would not need so many reboots to test)
    The hs_err_pid####.log file, for reference:

Yes, I realized that not installing intl support for an intl system probably was dumb. :) I was doing it to avoid getting the localized control panel applet. (Only the plugin is broken; I can run Java-based apps fine without the intl support)
Just thought that it would probably be a good idea to not crash.

  • Link to PDF of visual quick start guide broken?

If I want to access http://seminars.adobe.acrobat.com/vqs-participants/ Firefox 5 reports the Adobe Acrobat Plugin is broken. If I try the link with IE 9 the site is very very slow and the PDF never shows up...? Anyone else having the same problems? I need the VQS Guide for a presentation..is there another place to get it?
    Thanks
    Gilbert

    Hi Kay,
thanks for the file. I could download it. But nevertheless I find it strange that some of us can not download it, while others can. I had Acrobat Pro 9 before and after installing Acrobat X it was somehow broken. Anyway you helped me for my work but the problem to some of the webpages to Adobe still persists with my system..
    regards
    Gilbert

  • How do I get the "Bitdefender Quick Scan" box that suddenly appeared uninvited on the lower right coner of my screen to disappear??

A non-movable black box with "Bitdefender Quick Scan" "you haven't scanned your computer in a while. Would you like to start QuickScan now? appeared at the bottom right corner of my screen. How do I remove it?

Your system details list shows a "Bitdefender QuickScan Web Netscape Plugin", so you must have or had Bitdefender software installed.
You can set the plugin.expose_full_path pref to true on the about:config page to see the full path of enabled installed plugins on the about:plugins page.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:plugins
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers via the navigator.plugins object, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.
You can use the MSConfig program or the Autoruns utility to see which software and services are getting started.
