Dear HP Support Team,
I am using HP Pavilion M6 1019TX for few months long. It is a very good laptop. It is not only an entertainment laptopn, but also very good for professionals. It has Core i5 3rd Gen and 8GB RAM.
Now a days, I am thinking to change its Optical Hard Drive and to replace it by SSD (256GB or 340GB+). But here in local computer sales centers are telling me that it is not possible to replace optical HDD by SSD. SSD will not be supported.
Could you please let me know the following:
1) Is it possible to replace my internal HDD by SDD?
2) Which SSD - Brand & Models will be supported?
3) If any special suggestion to select SSD.
I love HP and I want to be with it. I will be waiting for your reply.
Thanks

Hi,
This laptop has an mSATA slot. Means you can keep the optical drive and use mSATA SSD (I have used Intel 525 series on the series laptop) with the hard drive as a storage. It's a bit complicated to make it work because the mSATA is not designed to be a boot drive so the OS bootloader must be installed on the hard drive.
You can always use a proper 2.5" solid drive. Samsung, Intel, Corsair, Crucial and other top brand drives should work fine on the laptop. I have a Samsung Pro but Evo is well recommended.

  • HP Probook 4320S Windows XP SSD Support?

    Hi Guys
I've got a HP Probook 4320S running Windows XP Pro SP3, and I'm considering upgrading the hard drive from a traditional HDD to a SSD.  I was wondering my HP Probook 4320S would support a SSD drive and would Windows XP even recognise it?
Any advice or help would be most appreciated.

    You're very welcome.
    You should be fine then.
If you have a HP XP recovery disk, that indeed should have the applicable sata ahci drivers included.

  • T420s SSD support - it's urgent!

    hey guys,
i'm about to aqcuire a new SSD for my T420s...
It looks like the only two options are Intel 320 (that isn't in stock atm) and Samsung 830/840 SSD - that is.
There's also the Intel 520 SSD, but from what i have understood - it's not supported. right?
Should I go with the Samsung 840? What about it's compatibility with my laptop? - MAIN QUESTION
    Thanks!
    Edit for future readers:
I went with the Samsung 840 PRO 128GB SSD (7mm) - great choice, highly recommended.

    Hi guyhimmel,
The specs match up so the Samsung 840, 2.5" wide - 7mm high, will work out in your system.
The read and write speeds are best on the Intel 520 and it looks like its supported too.
The only thing is that the 520 is a SATA 3 and the T420s maxes out at SATA 2.
So it would never run at full SATA 3 performance.
But you do get multiple and larger capacity drives.
Intel 320 - slowest read/write but largest capacity is 600gig
Intel 520 - fastest read/write and largest capacity is 480gig
    Samsung 840 - read/write like Intel 520 and largest capacity is 512gig
All will work with your T420s.
    Hope this helps.

  • Tecra R850 - SSD support for SATA III 6.0GB

    Hi.
    I bought R850 with SSD.
The bad thing is that SSD 256gb installed is limited to SATA II with transfer up to 300/mb. I read that Sandy Bridge Supports SATA III which covers 600/mb.
Is somebody successfuly installed better SSD disk capable with SATA3?
I tried Sisoft Sandra and it reported that SSD SATA is II, the same for Motherboard. The HwINFO reported that chipset is capable with SATA 3. The Everest shows only SSD data with SATA 2.
Is the bios blocked for higher transfers ? I got 180mb/s read, 150 mb/write - which is 3x worse than normal SATA 3 256gb SSD harddisks.
Can anybody help me and tell - if it is matter of R850 bios ? or just only the old Toshiba SSD firmware ? if I buy better SSD with SATA3 - will it fully support higher speed ?
    Best Regards
    Tomi2012

HI. this is Tecra R850-1D8 with Toshiba's SSD 256gb. I know that laptop has Sandy bridge and should support 6.0gb SATA III, but in strange way Toshiba limited it and Sandra and other programs sees that it its SATA II only compatible. I think the problem is hidden in the bios.
I think there is no hardware limits - only slow old SSD and limited bios.
Maybe this could be unblocked ? or Toshiba upgrade the bios - to allow user to use newer SSD drives ?
May they would like to sell new R850 with newer SSDs so they will need unblock it.
Let me please know what You think

  • SSD Support for W530

I was going for a purchase of W530 and had a clarification regarding the compatability of SSD drives.
The W530 data sheet provided by lenovo suggests the following SSD drives as available options.
    16GB SSD mSATA5
    128GB SSD SATA3
    Intel® 180GB SSD SATA3
    256GB TCG OPAL SSD SATA3
But I wanted to go for 512 GB SSD.
Can anyone confirm whether I can go for the 512 GB SSD option even though its not listed in the data shhet provided by lenovo.
    Thanks.

I bought a Samsung 840 Evo 500 GB for 220 EUR. Works like a charm here. Definately worth upgrading. Made a lot of difference compared to its original hard drive.

  • B570 1068 mSata SSD support

    Hi,
I want to install an SSD into a Lenovo B570 Laptop. According to the data sheet it has "Two PCIe Mini Card slots".
Do these support mSata SSDs like the CT120M500SSD3 (only source saying it would is this) or do I have to get a special PCIe Mini card like the FPN064C2RM?
I am not sure what would work, optically the slot looks like a msata slot, but I found no reliable source saying it will work?!
I just found this post saying it supports msata SSDs but they werent sure if booting off an msata SSD was supported. Can anyone provide clarification on this matter?
    Thanks,
    volucris

Yes, due to BIOS limitations, booting off the Msata SSD might not be possible, you can use that ssd as a cache drive to help boost system performance or use it as a data drive, but you will not be able to boot windows from it

  • SSD Support

Will the macbook from 2007 support Intel's 520 series SSD's?

Isnt SATA all backward and foreard compatible though?
If Cosmosis puts a 520 SSD thats capable of SATAIII speeds into a machine that can only do SATAI speeds, he will still use the device, but he will only get 1.5g link speed over SATA?
Or is it the case that this drive simply wont work with SATAI kit?

  • SSD support M5400 model

There should be a mSata port available. Just pug it in and install windows on the SSD.

    Cheers, Emanuele.
    Hi,
You can be sure only by trying it yourself. Buy one, try it and in case it works keep the ssd. If not, return it as unused. Make sure that the BIOS is the latest one. The lappy is quite new so I guess that solid drives will work on it.

  • Thinkpad S430 Samsung 850 EVO SSD support

Hi I have replaced the original hard drive in my Thinkpad s430 with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD and done a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit Once its booted up its works perfectly, but I have terrible trouble getting it to boot reliably. I will often end up with "Attempting Automatic Repair" bootloop followed by blue screen of death with Unexpected I/O Error Error code 0xc00000e9 Sometimes entering the BIOS and then exiting again will get it to boot up successfully. I've tried everything I can download from Lenovo website latest BIOS update 2.60, lates chipset update, lates SATA/AHCI storage controller update etc. Most likely cuplrit I think is the SATA/AHCI controller driver QuestionsDoes anyone have a Samsung 850 EVO SSD running successfully as the internal hard drive in an S430?Are there any drivers or firmware updates that need to be applied to the Samsung Drive or the S430 to get the two to work reliably together? When my S430 does boot up with the SSD it takes about 2-3 minutes. The old hard drive which is ten times slower boots up to login screen in about 30 seconds. Need help please?

    Yes, you can.

  • HDD to SSD, supported?

Well I'm interessed into upgrading my 320GB to an 250GB SSD.
On page 10 of the document in the url beneath supportedn 2.5" drives are listed.
    http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c03011618-1.pdf
The product is a bit older, so I think the laptop should recognise a 250GB ssd, but it says 128gb or 160gb as a max.
Is this the limit, or should a 250GB ssd work?

    Hi,
I can't see any reason why we can't moving up. I replaced HDD's on 5 of my laptops using 120Gb, 240Gb, 480Gb (2) and 960Gb and no problem at all. I've mentioned few times on this forum and please don't ask me why: I've got no luck with Intel, Kington and OCz SSD's.

  • HP tx2000z tablet SSD support question

Anyone know how to get an HP tx2000z to see a intel 520 series SSD?

I understand you need to use your Intel 520 SSD, but it's not seen by the tx notebook.
Is it detected in BIOS or is it not seen by the Windows installation disk?
If the old disk is still working, which it looks like it is, you could try the solution in this thread.  Cloning the HDD should function for this as it is the workaround for when Windows doesn't recognize the drive but BIOS does.
You could try this method, but it would require both drives to be accessible at the same time.

  • EDrive / Bitlocker on X1 Carbon 2015 with Samsung SM951 512GB PCIe SSD option

    Hi,
didn't find any information if the PCIe connected 512G SSD Drive is capable of hardware encryption for use with Bitlocker. While it seems to be supported on the non-PCIe drives (OPAL 2.0) available for the 2015 X1 Carbon, is that also supported on the PCIe drive (MZHPV512HDGL)?
    Thanks.

Lenovo doesn't support eDrive in any of the SSDs that ship in current ThinkPad models.  As you noted the non-PCIe M.2 SSD supports OPAL 2.0 (which is different than eDrive).  The PCIe SSD does not support any kind of hardware-mode encryption.  Actually PCIe itself does not support hardware-mode encryption.  There is a new spec coming for PCIe called NVMe that will add encryption capability.  You'll see NVMe show up in the next generation of ThinkPad systems.

  • Does Apple ssd ts128a supports trim?

I just bought a second hand macbook pro (mid - 2012) with an Apple SSD TS128A. After a fresh install of Yosemite 10.10.2  system profiler shows that trim disabled. Am I doing something wrong? As far as I know, Apple SSD supports trim out of the box. Any help would be appreciated!
    thanks in advance

Have a look at my blog here: http://www.markc.me.uk/MarkC/Blog/Entries/2011/4/17_Enabling_TRIM_on_OSX_for_any _SSD.html
This hack works on my 2010 Macbook Air, and my 2011 Macbook Pro running LION. The 2010 Macbook Air obviously has an Apple SSD in it - I still needed this hack to enable TRIM.
As with anything like this make sure you backup first. I've had it running since LION was released and it's been fine so far.
