Bitmap mismatch
I tried to install iTunes and QuickTime updates, the installations fail. Each time I then run "repair permissions," it comes up with this:
Symbolic link ./System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CarbonSound. framework/CarbonSound->Versions/Current/CarbonSound repaired
Symbolic link ./System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CarbonSound. framework/Resources->Versions/Current/Resources repaired
...but the installations still don't work.
I ran TechTool Pro which came up with a "bitmap mismatch." Is that my problem, and how do I fix it? Thank you.
Just a thought..
Install the QuickTime update first.
May be temporarily move the QT and iTune installer receipt packages from the Reciepts folder to somewhere else first.

Disk Utility says no problems but Diskwarrior disagrees
Need some advice. I ran Disk Utility yesterday to verify my drives before upgrading to 10.4.4 on my Dual 2GHz. It came up with some errors but said it couldn't fix them. Went to Diskwarrior which also said it couldn't fix it. Did a safe boot which is supposed to force an 'fsck' but the system never fully booted from that, probably failed at the fsck (the fans turned on full blast at the grey bootup screen then eventually powered off by itself). When I rebooted, I ran Disk Utility and it now reports the drive is fine. Diskwarrior still scoffs at that though.
Disk Utility said something about File Allocation Table mismatch.
Diskwarrior said the directory structure could not be repaired.
SMART says the drive is fine.
TechTool Pro reports a Bitmap mismatch and could not repair the drive.
Thing is, I don't see any problems with the drive at all. System boots fine and there are no corrupt files. It's a 3 month old 300GB Seagate so I don't think it's a hardware problem. But I've had some kernel panics related to my video iPod (the one where the G5 kernel panics if you have low space left on the iPod) which is where I'm guessing this all started from.
I've left it for now with Retrospect backing up the drive to a new external 250GB drive I had to buy just for this. I was planning on formatting the problem drive, testing it again and then restoring the Retrospect backup. (The only issue I've had with Retrospect is I Duplicated the problem drive to that new drive and had about 4000 files with different dates. I'm hoping that doesn't happen using the Backup function instead.)
Is this the right path? Or anybody think it could be a hardware issue? I've never done a full system volume backup with Retrospect, will I run into problems making the restored drive bootable again? And last, are there any other programs I should try?

Time Machine backups disappear
Hi - All my Time Machine backups (3 months worth) have disappeared from my LaCie Quadra Hard Drive after my last Time Machine backup. Either at the end or during the backup, I got an error message saying "Bitmap Mismatch". Any suggestions? Thanks, Bernie

I have done verification on both source & target drives. No issues found. Same with Techtool.
Yes, I also run Superduper every day to an external drive so at least all is not lost when TM fails. All drives are permanently attached & the Mac runs 24/7.
I also run the TM Buddy widget, but it only records info so far back and the challenge is being aware that you have lost the backup when you don't check it every day. By the time I notice the problem the info that might help diagnose the problem is gone!
I understand but it's really impossible to say now what might have caused it without seeing log info. file system errors are one possible reason but you say all drives check out fine. anything else would be unverifiable speculation at this point. once thing i've noticed in the past that any kind of problems with superduper backups can cause this. so if you ever get any issue with superduper check what's happening with TM. -

Redistribute draw input to multiple selected bitmaps in a layer/layers?
Hi all
I am very new here but have one really important question for me...
First off: I am painter/scatcher/ilustrator (or how to name it..sorry guys, my english is really bad) and came to a point where I need to have two bitmaps one above other with almost the same content EXCEPT the one on top is just stroke with no fill and the bottom one is stroke with fill - this way I am able to have my strokes still clearly intact independently from possible fill mismatch that may occur during such drawing (for example: if you ever tried to fill any drawing you have to play with its atributes and there are several times when you need to hange the color as the project grows...but then after many re-fillings you notice that the stroke line becomes more and more thinner, blury etc. (I know about "Preserve transparency" radiobutton but it is no help if one sets Tolerance value too high and let's say he was not aware of...), simply put> you need to redraw those lines again and so on and on...pretty unnoying as hell; ...or ju just simply want to have the stroke intact by filling which may pretty often happen depending on tolerance value one set when filling color may cut a bit from actual stroke etc.).
I know I can easily do this by duplicating my first drawing (scatch/stroke only) and let the first one be filled with colours etc and the second left alone as it is (just the stroke intself) BUT all the time I face the fact that as being in process of creation such drawing I almost all the time need to RESTROKE/RE-SCATCH some parts of the image, so the way mentioned before do not work here cos it would be almost imposible to draw two identical changes on those two separate bitmaps in a layer/s.
So my final question/suggestion: do FW CS5 support any kind of "redistributed input" to all selected bitmaps/layers?
That way I would be able to redraw both bitmaps at the same time at once so the chages would be 1:1 in both!!! Let's say It could be in a form of another small icon in layers pane at the end of every bitmap line so one could interactively decide which one - and when - he wants to send input to, so one could make it on/off independently anytime (I want to make changes in both bitmaps at the same time but let all the others intact? OK, no problem: one would set "on" only those 2 bitmaps, make his changes, and then set them "off" again to edit them separately as before).
Please, help...!

Im getting the following error when trying to run my application, which was migrated from 3.5 to 3.6A:
VerifyError: Error #1063: Argument count mismatch on mx.core::RSLItem(). Expected 1, got 3.
The original application was built with Flash Builder 4 (SDK 3.5), and imported in Flash Builder 4.6 (using SDK 3.6A).
The error is displayed only when the framework linkage type is set to RSL, when using the framework linkage "Merged into code", the application runs fine. But we need to use RSL as the application is quite large.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.After generating the link report, i found that the RSLItem is called from core classes, namely: RSLListLoader.as, RSLItem.as, framework.swc. Find below the XML report generated.

A generic error occurred in GDI+ while assing tiff image file to Bitmap and Image
Hi,
I am getting "A generic error occurred in GDI+" error while reading the tiff image file to Bitmap or Image.
Below is my sample code.
string filePath=@"c:\Images\sample.tif";
Bitmap bmp=new Bitmap(filePath); // here getting exception
int totalpages=bmp.GetFrameCount(.....);
etc......
I tried using Bitmap.FromFile() and also from FromStream() even for Image also but there is no use.
Moreover i m having full permissions for the file path and the tiff file is having multiple pages.
Can anyone help me to solve this issue please.

KishoreMake sure that the Tif file is valid (can other software open it)? If you are able to save a Tif using GDI+, try saving that Tif, then opening it. Part of me wonders if there is something about that specific Tif that GDI+ doesn't like.
You could also try using WIC to open the TIF, perhaps you would have better luck there. -

Anyways, answer to your question is --
You need to save your picture with lower-most bits BITMAP Type. When you were saving your picture as .bmp, take care you are passing lower-most BITMAP type and not 24-bit as it may be as default.
This way, your problem would be resolved.

As with many things Oracle the answer is 'it depends'.
In short the same considerations apply for a concatenated index whether it is bitmap or b-tree: 1) will the leading column usually be in the predicate and 2) will most or all of the index columns be specified in the queries.

As Re: why oracle db 9i optimizer can't choose to use the bitmap index? there are a number of issues with bitmap indexes. Your best bet is to read these three articles by Jonathan Lewis.
It does pay us to understand how the optimizer works with bitmap indexes. I posted some Re: Cost-based optimizer behavior to show how indexes on even very low valued columns can be useful in certain circumstances.

removing a column in a report will not affect at all at the values observed. Therefore,
it is unuseful to do it.
If there are inconsistencies in the assigned value, i suggest you to take the following steps:
1. Excute the report BPDIST03 via SE38 for the project in question.
2. Excute the tnrx CJEN.(Reconstruction of project information DB)
3. Excute the trnx CJBW.(Deactivate the availability control)
4. Excute the trnx CJBN.(Reconstruction of availability control)
5. Excute the trnx CJBV.(Activate the availability control again)

What it does is taking a Bitmap image and make a doppler radar effect on it and detect color only places that there are pixels(clouds) in it.
Here is a screenshot:
You can see the doppler shape and it's moving around and highlight the places with clouds.
So when i move the trackBar1 to the left each time on another Bitmap image it's showing the doppler effect and the clouds.
The problem is with the trackBar2 scroll event:
First when i'm running my program and enteric to this new form that scan the clouds and show the doppler radar effect a backgroundworker1 is working:

What it does is getting into bitmaps(Bitmap[]) 15 new bitmaps from one given bitmap. The given bitmap is b1.
b1 i'm using it in trackBar1 scroll event.
All the new Bitmaps in bitmaps variable array are Format32bppArgb.
While i checked on my hard disk the images(GIF type) i'm using with trackBar1 are all Bit Depth 8.
The images i'm using with trackBar1 scroll event are GIF types and Bit Depth 8 on the properties.
The images i'm using in trackBar2 are Bitmaps and they are Format32bppArgb.
So first thing i thought to convert all the 15 Bitmaps in bitmaps to 8bit:

But it didn't work it's just turning them to black gray scale colors not what i was thinking about.
In the backgroundworker completed event i'm converting the bitmaps to 24 like i'm doing with the Gifs in trackBar1 scroll event:

But the result in trackBar2 i'm getting without using the grayscale convertion is this:
You can see that the color that make the scan now is more yellow or green/yellow and not the same like it is when i'm using the trackBar1.
I can't figure out where the problem is:
1. Maybe since the Bitmaps in the variable array bitmaps are all Format32bppArgb ?
2. Maybe they are Bitmaps and not Gif types like the images in trackBar1 ?
If it does working good with the gifs in trackBar1 scroll event then the whole code in the new form ScanningClouds is working fine so i will not add to here the whole ScanningClouds form code since it's long.
The problem is somewhere with the Bitmaps formas or bits in the variable bitmaps.
Maybe they are not the same or the right Bit Depth or maybe they are Bitmaps and should be Gifs.

I think not sure but i think the problem is that the images on my hard disk i'm using with the trackBar1 scroll event are Gif type and the images i'm using with the trackBar2 scroll event are 15 Bitmaps.Hi,

If you want it to be colored, you'll need to create a color-palette for the 8bppIndexed bitmaps. The keyword for this process is "Color-Quantization".
The whole yellow-green pie you get is from the wrong format. If you convert the 32bpp bitmaps to 24 bpp bitmaps, you loose the alpha channel ("transparency"). You can manually set one color to "transparent" with the mMakeTransparent-method
of the Bitmap class, or simply use gif-images (they are 8bpp with a transparent "key"-color)
