Bizarre Behavior Award...Need help!

I recently installed Lightroom V1.3 on my Vista x64 system and this is weird.
Whenever I turn off my monitor (30" Dell) and then turn it back on, Lightroom starts up!!!
The monitor has some card slots on the side for downloading images and is connected to a USB port on my computer, but the card slots are empty.
How can this be fixed so that it isn't starting up like that?
Do I get the Lightroom Bizarre behavior award or what?
Best guess: Lightroom also starts up whenever I plug in my CF card into the side of the monitor. It doesn't try to hijack the downloading process, it just starts up. I don't do all my processing in Lightroom, so how do I turn off the automatic downloading of files including all the deepest levels so that it actually is really turned off?

Hi Charlie,
The 30" monitor is great for Lightroom. It is great in general for Photoshop and CAD. I have it cranked up to the highest res (2560 x 1600) so web browsing is odd with it only using maybe 20% of the screen ;~) It's a bit on the bright side making it more challenging to calibrate properly. Also, in the fine print, Dell does not warrant the monitor unless you buy it with a Dell system! The good news is that the price has dropped significantly; I paid about $2k for it and now it is more like $1,300 ish.
Keep in mind if you get the monitor you need a killer graphics card with Dual DVI. I got the ATi FireGL with 1Gb of RAM. The graphics drivers for Vista have caused some bizarre conflicts.... Unless I unplug my smartphone via USB cable, Vista will reboot to a black screen with a blinking cursor. ATi denies that there is any issue, but a tech support session with Microsoft proved it. Now I need to buy a new smartphone to synch with Outlook...

I need help putting Classical Music CDs into iTunes

I need help - this question has lots of subquestions, sorry.
I have found just a few discussions that deal with this but I am still confused. Forgive me if I get wordy and misuse technical terms - I am trying to learn this thing...
I'm an iPod newbie and haven't a clue on the best way to organize my many, many classical CDs that I'd like to put onto my iPod Classic 160G. I'd also like to do this with as little fussing around as possible since there are lots of CDs I've got to deal with.
If each CD is a separate entry [album?] in the playlist and titled with composer name first [ex Bach, Brandenburg Concertos, Titov conductor] I'll have several playlist entries with the same titles, but different contents. No problem really.
But, should I separate it further, by having each concerto [say] be a separate entry in the playlist - without having to download the CD again. [I've just practiced on a few CDs but I imagine it being a problem if I had to download each CD several times - once for each work] Does it make sense to leave gaps between movements? [I'm not finding a way to remove gaps, though I have seen that suggested somewhere]
And when I come to play the pieces, if I start playing a work in a playlist, will the iPod keep going from one movement to the next as it makes its way through the playlist - or will it stop at each movement and wait for me to tell it what to do next?
Advanced Settings - are these the best? I'll be listening to music on an airplane using noise cancelling headphones and at destination attaching iPod to portable speakers to listen to music in hotel rooms.
General: Keep iTunes Music folder organized - unchecked? [not sure what this means or does or doesn't do]
Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library - checked?
Importing: AAC encoder? High quality -128 kbps?

Thank you so much for your help. You have sorted out a lot of problems for me. I've tried to go through what you wrote, add some more info and I have asked a few more questions below-
I re-ripped at 256. I too have the 160GB classic so it's good to know that it will take 10,000 tracks as lossless - now I have to re-rip again! I actually hadn't anticipated using the iPod with anything other than our high quality noise canceling airplane headphones, our cheap, portable travel speakers for hotel rooms and our Cambridge sound speakers for our cabin. It's that last set of speakers that makes me think I should follow you advice and go with lossless.
QUESTION #1 - When I re-rip and do an automatic sync, will the tracks at 256 automatically be replaced by the bigger lossless ones with the same name or should I delete everything from the iPod and begin anew?

What I did on my test was create a playlist for each composer breaking it down - ex- Bach:concertos, Bach:sonatas, etc. I have the Album column highlighted and it appears as if the movements stay together in the correct order. I fear that the task might be too large to create a playlist for each work, though that certainly is appealing.
QUESTION #2 If the Album column is highlighted and the movements are in the correct order in iTunes in the playlist, will they stay that way in the iPod?
"I tend to use just surnames for composers for example, or at least "surname, firstname"." I finally found in settings on the iPod the way to change sort by composer to last name, first name. In iTunes, the composer column which is imported from the internet search for info on the CDs gives composer with first name first and I can't find a place in iTunes to reverse this. Typing it or erasing the first name will be a huge chore.
QUESTION #3 Is there a place in iTunes to change the order of the composers' name in the composer column?

QUESTION #4 - are you referring to the preferences > advanced check box "Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized" ? If not, what are you referring to?

QUESTION #5 "dedicated disk"? as in hard drive? I have been using SuperDuper to back up my Mac to an external HD; I plan to put a copy of the iTunes folder onto yet another HD where I keep copies of all our photos as well.
"never change it"? I noticed a misspelling "Haendel" from the on-line CD/track info - no problem in fixing that - right? Since you later say you do change info, what is it you are never changing?
QUESTION #6 - "Disk N of M capability" - what? Where do I find this option? And when you say "for multiple CD albums, don't include the cd number in the album name." Where? when you put the CD into a playlist entry? or just in the list of music in the album column - do you change the listing?
ONE FINAL QUESTION - when I turn on the iPod when it's not attached to headphones or speakers, and I'm just looking at the screen to see settings or how the syncing worked, the iPod appears to begin playing something as soon as I turn it on. THIS IS A STUPID QUESTION, but I can't find the answer, how to I get it to stop playing without turning the iPod itself off???

Hi Nani,
The transaction used to create transaction variant is SHD0.
Using this you can change the screens, for example is you want certain fields to get a default value in XD03 / MM03 etc you can do so with the help of transaction variants.
Also you can go thru this links for more help .... please go thru and I believe that you problem will be solved....

Bizarre behavior of a View Criteria for a View Object

I remarked quite a bizarre behavior of the View criteria that I created for my view object, using bind variables.
lets say I have the generated query in the View object:
SELECT Paquet.ID,
Paquet.WEIGHT,
Paquet.VALUE,
Paquet.ORIGIN,
Paquet.DESTINATION
FROM PAQUET Paquet
I want to use the executeWithParams with bind variables for this View object.
I create a bind variable:p_o
I create the View Criteria vith the visual editor that generates an additional view clause:
( ( ( Paquet.ORIGIN LIKE ('%' || :p_o || '%') ) OR ( :p_o IS NULL ) ) )
test query works and explain plan as well.
Now, when I execute the view object on a page with the bind variable properly set, I get the error: java.sql.SQLException: Attempt to set a parameter name that does not occur in the SQL: p_o
Then I copy the where clause generated by view criteria visual edito directly to the query and delete the View Criteria, and it ALL WORKS FINE
If has to work like that, then what is the View Criteria useful for? I still think that there is a problem.

Hi,
ViewCriterias are not accessed with ExecuteWith Params. For this the bind variable needs to be in the where clause. Named ViewCriterias are listed separately in the DC list

Need help on Self Hosting Using channel Factory

     I am trying to self host WCF service using cutom Channel Factory class. but I am getting exception.
The scenario is something like below this : -
I want to create the endpoint connection to WCF service. I want to achieve this using custom channel factory(not using default channel factory API provided in .Net Framework).
I have written one class and it is derived from channel factory and we are reading the service endpoints, behaviors, bindings from external configuration file added in the project.
I am able to connect to server side service hosted on different machine using following sample code successfully.
In the case of “self-hosting”  I am receiving following error : --
     "There was an error reading from the pipe: The pipe has been ended. (109, 0x6d)."

There was an error reading from the pipe: Unrecognized error 109 (0x6d).
One reason was inconsistent binding between client and server <netNamedPipeBinding> <security mode="None"></security>... (no
communication)
The other intermittent issue was time-out related.

Publishing a flash movie, need help!

ok so i made several flash files and connected them with buttons with, behaviours [load external movie clip] but when i moved it to a cd the buttons dont work. I really need help!!! how do i keep them connected.

In the mail application, in preferences, accounts, choose your mail account, and click the account behaviors tab, if 'move deleted messages to a separate folder' isn't checked, the messages will stay in your inbox until you hit the 'erase deleted messages' time or you manually delete them from the menu bar (mailbox then erase deleted messages).

Need help for JFileChooser

I need help on this one. I have a filechooser class which extended from JFileChooser class. Every thing works fine except this: I want to by hiting the "Enter" key to save the files. The "Enter" key works only when the focus is in the file name text field now, I want it to work when the focus is in the directory area, the file list area and the file type area as well. I try to add the KeyListener but how can I get hold of the component of the three areas of file chooser? I tried to add the KeyListener as Accessory, it didn't work either. Some one please help me.

Need help with cannon RAW photos

Please help- let my employee go and nearly 100 photos of my products were left on my hard drive, but I can not get them to open. They are somehow jacked up (show a different icon than they did). They have no previous version, and absolutely NOTHING I have tried to open them will work. Would someone be willing to test one to see if they can figgure it out? Or, has anyone fixed this problem before?

Need help in converting DAQ to DAQmx

Hi,
I've struggled with coverting traditional DAQ to DAQmx for two weeks. I really need help from someone.
As you can see the picture below, I've tried to replace the old VI's with new ones. But, it doesn't work. Of course, the VI below is just a part of my VI. VI's after case structure are inside of while loop.
Could you please give me thought that why it doesn't work?
FYI: The strange thing about it is that it runs without any error messege, but there is no actual output (values on the graph, data in arrays, etc).

Assuming that the Traditional DAQ and DAQmx code are screenshots from separate VIs, I believe that the following parameter of the read functions in each driver would account for the different behavior that you are seeing (you have both set to -1):

So, when you give DAQmx Read a -1 for "number of samples per channel" when running a Continuous task, the effect is that it will return whatever data is available at the time DAQmx Read is called. In your case this is immediately after the task is started so there very well could be 0 samples available in the buffer. I'd imagine that you would see data if you change the value of this parameter from -1 to the actual number of samples that you want to read.
Having said this, if you want to acquire continuously you should call DAQmx Read from inside a loop. I agree with the others that you should take a look at the DAQmx shipping examples to help get started, you will probably find something very close to what you want to do. In my experience, the code created by graphics apps is less than satisfactory. And image based menus are very awkward for several reasons.
#1 If you decide to change your menu later, you must go back to your graphics app and re-craft the whole thing. After 2-3 times of this, it gets old in a hurry.
#2 Image based menus cannot be "seen" by search engines, screen readers and language translators.
#3 CSS styled text menus are better for your site's visibility, accessibility and they are a snap to edit in Dreamweaver.
That said, if you're still married to image based menus, use Fireworks to create images only. Use Dreamweaver's Image Rollover Behaviors to create your rollover scripts.
