Bizarre file size saved after using Pen Selection Tool in CS4/3

Bizarre file size after using and saving pen selection. Image file  size = 69.9mb at 300ppi for 14.2 x 9.5" image. If one crops the image about by hal and saves it, the file size = 34.2mb. If one uses the pen tool and selects the same area that was cropped, the file size = 75.1mb... this is crazy. I don't think the PS is saving it as a 32bit rather than a 16 bit.
Any ideas of what's going on. Nvere have encountered such a problem in the past.

    Use the path selection tool to select the path.  Then copy it: ctrl/cmd-C.  Use the pen or shape tool to create a SHAPE layer.  just make a small box or something to create the layer.  Then press ctrl/cmd-V to paste your path into that shape layer.  Select the small shape you made to create the layer and delete. it.

  • Is there a file size limitation to using this service?

    I am working on a large PDF file (26 mb) and I need to re-size the original and mess with the margins. I don't beleive there is an easy way to do this in Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Pro. It sounds like I have to convert the file back to a Word document, do the adjustments there and then produce a new PDF. I have two questions:
    Is there a file size limitation to using this service?
    Will a PDF to Word doc. conversion mantain the format of the orginal PDF?

    There is a 100MB file size limitation for submitting files to the ExportPDF service.  As for the quality of the conversion, from our FAQ entitled Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and formatting information?:
    Adobe ExportPDF is capable of exporting high quality information, but the quality of your Word or Excel document depends on the quality of the PDF file you start with. For instance, if your PDF file was originally authored in Microsoft Word or Excel and converted to PDF using the PDFMaker functionality of Adobe Acrobat®, your PDF file contains a rich set of information that can be captured by Adobe ExportPDF. This includes relative positioning of tables, images, and even multi-column text, as well as page, paragraph, and font attributes.
    If your PDF file was originally authored using simpler PDF generation methods, such as “print to PDF” or “scan to PDF” options, Adobe ExportPDF will convert any recognizable text and then use sophisticated conversion intelligence to preserve as much of the page layout as possible.

    I took the  (full-featured) LabView OI and modified it to my needs.
    Now the problem:
    I only have sequences with LabView Action Steps. Those Steps (VIs) all have a Cluster Output "Test Data"
    Now i would like to display one element of that Output Cluster (Step.Result.ReportText) direct on the OI after using "run selected steps"
    It would be ok, when the Result would display after every step (also in UUT/Single Pass) but most important, after Run Selected Steps.
    How can i connect the Output of the step with an element on the LabView OI?
    (sorry for my bad english)

    Is the "Run Selected Steps Using Single Pass" feature not sufficient for your use case? That feature will run the selected steps along with result processing to generate a report for those steps.

    I am running Mac 10.6.8 and CS 5.5
    Photoshop: CS5.1
    After using the clone tool my keyboard freezes up. Why?
    When I use the clone tool repeadedly i can no loger use my keyboard.
    And that includes use for other applications.
    I have to do everything manually by scrolling down the menu bars.
    Also, I can't even type in any characters from the keyboard.

    But when I checked "about Photoshop it only reads CS5 12.1 x64.
    Also, my prefs read CS5.1
    Please advise.
    I also seem to have prefs I may not need. I thought when I installed 5.5 my
    old Photoshop version prefs would be deleted but they are still there (see
    my snapshop of my pref files. Should I trash any?

  • Need clarification using the selection tool

    Hi all,
    I have some strange (to me) occurrences while using the 'selection tool'...
    Explanation:
    I'm using PSE11 on a Win 7 (64) PC.
    What I want to do is to create a new pic from an existing pic.  The existing pic's background is unsuitable for what I want.  But the FG is what I need.  I thought that selecting the FG object and placing it into a new pic would be what I needed using the <quick selection tool>.
    To do this, I am trying to use the <quick selection tool>.  I've had varying degrees of success using it.  One main thing I don't understand & pretty much renders my task useless, is the fact that whenever I use <refine edge> so that I can refine my edge selection, my pic is immediately lost or taken away.  Since I have no idea as to what's happening, I am forced to close the pic (W/O saving changes, of course) & then re-opening the pic.  All's well until I use the <refine edge> button again, then, my pic disappears AGAIN!
    There are a few more details about this <selection tool> that I'm muddy on.  Is there something where I can read more about its use?  I would love to know more, but how?  Where?
    I am not a constant user of PSE, rather,  I only use it on occasions.  Normally, I use its scanning features.  I may play around with a few other features, but I also know that PSE offers many other powerful features, I rarely, if ever, use.

    There are many selection tool and way to extract a subject.  There are more way in Photoshop then in Photoshop Elements you should ask over in the Elements forum to get answers suitable for elements users.  You may get answers here that are not possible to use in Elements. Photoshop Elements

    hi,
    i have a problem with path edges after using shape builder tool or masking objects. This problem occurs when i draw bright colored objects above dark colored object. After that i have dark path's edges. Like this: http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/2051/dlm2.jpg     
    I have one solution (pathfinder->dive objects and delete some dark elements on the bottom) but maybe someone know another solution for this problem?

    Unfortunately, I don't have opportunity to print it, but as you wrote, it must be a screen artifact. I exported this file to tiff, then i opened it in photoshop. Everything is ok. All of the edges are clear.

    After using various retouch tools on an image, Aperture often (but not always) spontaneously returns to the orginal image and I have to start all over again.....this seems to happen most often after I use the clone tool.  Is this a new bug or what?  It just started happening a few weeks ago. 

    I fond the answer. Inexplicably,some of the song tracks, the 'deepest' files in the structure, had become hidden. There was no clear pattern - most of my music files come from CDs, with a small number of legal downloads (mostly from iTunes). So although the artist and album folders were not hidden, if there were no unhidden song files in the album folder, apparently iTunes skipped the artist.
    Changing the attributes of all music files to unhidden took care of everything.

  • In version 5, how do I use the selection tool to move objects?

    I can use the selection tool to select objects, but when I try to drag it, nothing happens. My workaround is to use the selection tool to select an object, and then use the transform tool to drag the object into its new position. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • PPro CC crashes when using Track Select tool

    This is probaby the most bizzare bug i have encountered so far - everythig works - i can scub, play and adjust footage, apply effects, titles and time remapping, but when i select Treack Select tool and click on the timeline, Premiere Pro crashes.
    This is a new develpment as well - i was able to use PPro CC just fine since i installed it (trial version), until yesterday.
    No new applications or updates for Windows, Nvidia card or Adobe were installed lately, but all drivers are up to date (according to various update managers)
    Premiere CS6 works fine with the same sequence (mixed RED and DSLR footage)

    Yep, buggy project..
    New project with same and different footage works fine
    Other project created in CC works fine
    Imported sequence from CS6 works fine
    Imported sequence from a buggy CC project into a new project causes crash on using Track Select tool
    I was able to revert the project in question to CS6 via Final Cut Pro XML, also works fine (for now, at least), just have to redo some time remapping which didn't come through with XML translation, small loss
    I guess i'll wait few more months before switching to PPro CC, maybe mysterious bugs will be worked out by then

Have thought about re-installing  it but I have lost my serial number.  I'm living in Ireland and trying to get to talk to someone in tech support is a complete joke. Any ideas what to do ? Thanks

    Ianp69549740 have you tried reinstalling Photoshop CS5.1?  If so do you receive any specific errors?  What operating system are you using?

    When I use the selection tool to move vector points and bend edges, I only see the change in wire frame.  Once I commit by letting go of the mouse button, the object does change.  It just previews with a wire frame. I would like to see the preview change on the solid object.  Is there a setting somewhere?
    I sure hope I am explaining this for people to understand .

    What do you mean by wire frame??And are you using selection or sub-selection tool since you have mentioned about vector point I doubt if it is sub-selection tool.Could you please attach a video demonstrating the issue where we see the mismatch in the preview and the output, so that we can understand the problem better and try to resolve it.
