Bizarre: iTunes skips importing Track 1 on ALL discs!

I am having the strangest, most frustrating problem: I have been importing my large music CD collection and midway through, I have noticed that the first track of EVERY disc has NOT been copied to my library. The remaining tracks (Track 2 and up) were imported fine. When each CD was importing, everything looked normal and I got a green checkmark next to the first track. What's even more bizarre is that now, I cannot recreate this problem because iTunes imports the first track of every CD as normal. What the heck?! I'm going to have to re-import the first track of every disc now... Did a Google search and got nothing. Anybody have the same issue? I'm running the latest, up-to-date iTunes (v9.2) and Mac OS X (v10.6.4). Please help! Thank you so much in advance.

May never know the answer I guess.

  • Importing tracks from a Mini Disc player

Does anybody know if you can import tracks from a Mini Disc player (non HD) into Garageband via my MacBook's Line In port, and then put the tracks into i-tunes as MP3 files?

does not bring up the two small purple arrows in the new track.
What "two small purple arrows" are you looking for?
I'm trying to get the playhead to go to the end of the new track by pressing
the 'end' button on my keyboard but it is just going to the end of the whole album.
    That's how it works.
    Any Ideas?

  • How do i stop itunes skipping the tracks

    could somebody help??
i have just bought a mac and when i play my albums through itunes it skips the track after about 20 secs of it playing

I have had a similar problem, but it was on  the ipod and it skipped after one second. Make sure you have imported the files from a good source- an incomplete download or a scratched CD could cause this problem. Does this happen with all your music?

  • Itunes places imported tracks in different albums with same name

When I import a CD, itunes can't seem to keep these files in the same album if they happen to be by different artists.  I've tried manually editing the track information using the "get info" screen, but just can't get it.  The initial download places the tracks together, but after I use the "get track titles" option and download the track titles from Gracenote, I'm left with multiple albums, even though the albums show as having the same name.

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.

  • My iP5 will not play any track not purchased from itunes Store, red circle with red square inside appears and skips the track, any ideas?

my iP5 will only play songs purchased formmthe itunes store.
all over songs, uploaded from cd's on my laptop and dragged into itunes will no longer play, a red circle with a red square in the middle appears and skips the track.
anybody know why Itunes / iP5 will no longer play all tracks, has worked for years, only stopped with the latest itunes update.

    Hey Kelsieee,
First, I would try to resolve the issue with the ! in a circle that you're seeing in iTunes. There's some steps in the following article that go over what that ! usually means and how to fix it:

  • ITunes skipping tracks in the middle

I have a bunch of new tracks that I've added to iTunes, and I would say 25% of the time, iTunes will play 30 seconds of the song and then just skip to the next track for no reason and without registering a play count.  All of the start and end times are right for the tracks, its just randomly skipping them.  Also, if it skips a track, and I play it again, it will skip to the next song again at the exact same point.  So far there is nothing I can do to stop these particular tracks from skipping.  Needless to say its extremely annoying. Is this happening to anyone else? Anyone know a way to make it stop?
    Thanks

In iTunes, select all the songs.
    Right click, get info.
Click the Options tab and set *Remember playback position* to No.

  • ITunes not importing all files

    Hello,
I just got myself iTunes and imported my music folder inside of which all my music is located. Now I noticed it only imported some music, whilst it skipped other music. I tried to drag&drop the missing files into the library, but I doesn't work. BTW, works fine with WMP.
    Thanks in advance,

iTunes 7 & 8 are very picky about MP3 headers. Here's a good web page on it:

  • HT1351 When I import cds to itunes the albums do not contain all songs. If there are multiple artists or a duet, each song shows up as an album.

When I import cds to itunes, the albums do not contain all songs. If there is a duet, each duet is listed as a separate album.
As an example," Genius Loves Company" or "Tuskegee" each are listed as many albums---each album has a separate song.
I spoke to Apple Help and they were of some help, but did not answer the question.

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value).  You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these).  Without details of the issues you're seeing it is difficult to suggest a remedy other than going through the media album-by-album, track-by-track, and correcting the inconsistencies.
In the absence of a backup or access to the original library data there is no option other than painstakingly recreating your library as described above.  As you do so, you'll now realize how important creating and maintaining backups are - in my case I have at all times three separate duplicates of my library, in two different locations, where none is ever more than a week old compared to the content of my master library.

  • ITunes is skipping every track I listen.

iTunes is skipping every track I listen when it reaches 03:55s
I have also tried to re add those albums to iTunes again without success.
I have also tried opening any song with Quicktime (where I can listen them perfectly)
I have the latest version of iTunes & Maverick.
This started happening me yesterday, (I have already tried restarting my computer)

    Hi lucasrod
Thank you for trying that.  I also recommend verifying that your software is up to date.  You can check for updates by going to Apple () menu > Software Update…

  • ITunes asking for apple ID when importing tracks from Windows Media Player

I have a friend who is a new radio DJ. I have convinced her that iTunes would be better to play her tracks from than WMP. What has happened is that iTunes has imported all of her tracks and albums from WMP but it is asking for her Apple ID for every track she tries to play.
Most of these tracks were imported into WMP from CD so why is iTunes asking for the Apple ID? How do I resolve this for her?

Are these songs MP3's or WMA files? What is the source of those songs? Did you rip from CDs into Windows Media Player? If you did then they shouldn't be protected files. iTunes will now have to convert them to an iTunes compatible file (MP3/AAC)
    I only use MP3.

  • Can't import tracks from an older version of iTunes

Since my rMBP has no optical drive I've found a practical use for my old G3 iMac which is for ripping CDs.
The G3 of course is only running iTunes 7.6 (the newest version available for G3 Macs) whereas my MBP is running the latest version.
I've shared the iTunes Library on the G3 and can access it on my MBP, and can even play tracks, but there is no Import button at the bottom of the window so I can't import the ripped tracks into my MBP iTunes. This works fine if I use my wife's MBP (my old one) which is also running the latest version of iTunes.
Have I missed a setting on the G3, or is this a limitation due to the big difference in iTunes versions?
I'm ripping to Apple Lossless if that matters.

    Limnos wrote:
How did you share this library?  If you're talking about what iTunes has, there is a difference between Home Sharing which is a feature of newer iTunes and enable copying fo files, and plain music sharing which older iTunes had but only allowed music to be played.
Ah, thanks, that will be it.
Guess that means I can't use my G3 for doing this. Oh well, not to worry.
    Limnos wrote:
You say, "This works fine," but "this" is vague. Do you mean Home Sharing from your wife's Mac to yours? If so, then yes it will work because they are both capable of Home Sharing.
Yes, "this" meant importing tracks from the Library on my wife's MBP

  • My iTunes has about 3000 tracks but not all of it will sync onto my iPod

i recently purchased an 80GB iPod shuffle which can also play videos and movies. i bought it recently, but i'm haveing a hard time getting used to iTunes and all this apple, mac business.
i have windows XP professional, i made sure i put all the music i had on my pc and put it onto my iTunes library, now i have a lot more music to put onto my ipod from cds etc but i can't even get all my music from my itunes to download onto my iPod first!
they're all in mp3 format, and when i go to "sync music" instead of syncing all of my 3000 tracks its only syncing like 1700 or so!
also, if i already have music on my ipod, but i just want to add say an extra one or two songs onto my ipod, i tried just adding those tracks, but then all my older songs already on the ipod god deleted!
does that mean i have to download all my music from the itunes ALL OVER AGAIN?
if so, i don't think i like this ipod / itunes business, i may even have to return it. this is just ridiculous, i never had this problem with my smaller mp3 players. the whole reason i bought the iPod was because it can store alot of music, 80gb and it only cost me around £140. its new, not second hand or anything.
    help!

Hello, and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
first of all, I don't think you have a shuffle, as they come up to 4 GB.
Syncing is a concept that some users have a hard time adjusting to - it means synchronizing the content of the iPod to your PC.
When you tell iPod to sync only two songs, it does exactly that; you may want to set up playlists in iTunes that contain what you want on your iPod and sync those automatically.
Another option would be to Manually Manage your iPod, in which case you can just drag and drop songs on it like you would with any other MP3 Player, however, you lose the convenience of syncing.
Hope this solves your problem, cheers.

  • When importing tracks from a CD to iTunes, only 10 of the 13 songs are imported or shown on the list. How can I import the missing three?

When importing tracks from a CD to ITunes, only 10 of the 13 songs are imported. How can I display and import the missing three? Thanks.

It depends on eaxactly what is wrong with the old laptop. If you're lucky the drive can be extracted and connected to a new computer to extract the data. Otherwise see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
