Bizarre Streaming Behavior / Device Won't Stream

I haven't used my Apple TV in a week or so, but last time it worked fine. I've made no changes to any network or device settings. Today, however, here's what's happening. I'd make it shorter, but this is the best I can do:
I can turn it on and navigate it without problems, but if I try to stream by tapping the Play button (Netflix, HBOGo, YouTube) the screen goes blank for a split second then reverts to the screen with the Play button. The only time it behaves differently is in Trailers, where for a brief second I get the green MPAA Ratings screen and the time/progress bar suggests that it's begun to buffer.
If I go to "Music" then I get stuck on the spinny loading screen. Blank cover art and it says Untitled / Unknown Artist. The graphic flips from side to side as it normally should and hitting the Menu button gets me back to the menu, so the unit itself is still responsive.
I have already done a factory restore. That worked for a few seconds when I tested Netflix, but then I left the video satisfied that I'd fixed the issue and went about restoring my other accounts. The moment I left Netflix I got blank artwork and Untitled / Unknown Artist on the bottom left corner, overlaying the normal menu graphics. When I look at my Apple Remote app on my iPad it suggests I'm playing music right now (again, Untitled / Unknown) but I didn't hit a play button, select a song, etc. I can pause it, but after a few seconds it goes back into Play mode. If I try to play music from my iTunes library and stream it through the Apple TV then the music plays, but through my Mac mini's internal speaker, despite how I've set it in Mavericks.
I'm at a total loss. Advice?

Just got off the phone with support. Switching from Ethernet to wifi has fixed it at least for the time being. Will have to try a few options to get it back to my preferred hard wired setup.
I'id delete this thread but I don't see the option.

2) Intel HD GRAPHIC and HD Audio version
Intel GMA 15.22.52.2559 (Vista/7) 14.46.8.5387 (XP)

Select your OS and and whether 32 or 64 bit. I recommend the .exe version as it works very smoothly. Uninstall HD AUDIO DEVICE or whatever it is called maybe "unknown device" with ac97 device ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0662&SUBSYS_17AA3604&REV_1001." Afterwards install AC 97 HD Audio Driver.
After install reboot and wait till computer completely starts.
Now uninstall Intel HD Graphics or your graphics device. When you get the uninstall box open, select delete the driver software for this device and then OK. When prompted to reboot select NO and Immediately start the install of the Intel GMA driver. Which installs both the Graphics Adapter and the Intel HD Audio. Reboot when finished and all HD Audio devices will be functional (hopefully). You will now have these versions installed. As shown in device manager/device properties/Driver tab
Now uninstall Realtek AC97 driver you first installed to delete annoying Red Lexmark/realtek icon in Notification area (If your computer shows it after reboot) and windows driver update will install a microsoft driver (shown below)that works without the stupid lexmark red icon. See below. You will now have these versions installed. As shown in device manager/device properties/Driver tab

You need to go to the App stores and find compatible apps. iOS device do not natively have to ability to transfer info to a computer via BT to a computer.
With iOS 8 you can use AirDrop

if you dont have the options to forget network you can reset your network settings, but than the device forget all networks

I've tried everything others have suggested without any luck.

"another device is using the same ip address.." - iOS devices won't connect to AEBS wifi.

I've got a Motorola modem/gateway - 3360 from WalMart. I have the AEBS working in bridge mode connecting my iMac & Printer fine, but my iOS devices won't connect.
While troubleshooting & trying all types of settings, I was able to get EITHER the iMac or the iOS devices connected to internet, but not both at same time.
Then I noticed I am getting "another device is using the same ip address.." message.
I have changed the AEBS ip address & had been able to get either the iMac or iOS devices working depending on which ip address I use.
BUT now, all my iOS devices dont connect to the internet regardless of the ip address of the AEBS.
All my iOS devices see the network, and accept the network password, but they do not connect to internet, circle just keeps spinning...
Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated.

It looks like may have to go back to square one and delete my network & set it up from scratch if I don't figure it out.
If you do go this route, I would like to make a suggestion for your consideration, and that is to assign static IP addresses to devices that are "permanent" on your network or ones you want to make sure can be reachable at all times. These (again) would be servers, routers, wireless access points, network printers/scanners, NAS devices, etc.
I would recommend the following IP addressing scheme as a baseline and you are certainly free to deviate in any way you see fit to meet your networking requirements:
Reduce the number of IP handed out by DHCP. By default, most routers will provide 100-200 private IP addresses within their DHCP leasing scope. The AirPort, by default, assigns 10.0.1.2 thru 10.0.1.200 via DHCP. Your Motorola may assign 192.168.0.2 thru 192.168.0.150. Either way, I would reduce this to no more than fifty (50) total which should provide you with plenty of addresses even if you are hosting gaming convention at your home.
I use the following IP address scheme for the "permanent" network clients:
Network Printers: 10.0.1.200 - 209
NAS Devices: 10.0.1.210 - 219
Wireless Access Points or routers reconfigured as bridges: 10.0.1.220 - 229
Servers: 10.0.1.230 - 239
With the "permanent" devices pre-assigned with static Private IP address that are outside of the DHCP range, you shouldn't ever get an IP address conflict again.

My device won't appear on desktop of DataViz'z Documents to Go. Help?

Anyone out there solved the "Device won't appear on 'Documents to Go' desktop" I've tried several times and DataViz Support basically sent me their trouble shooting document which I had already gone through and tried but no luck. They have wiped their hands of the issue and said Good luck.
The problem is that I can't synch Documents to Go (ver. 1.1) on my iPod Touch (1st gen) with OS3.0 with the DTG desktop. My device won't appear on the desktop. I my desktop is a MacBook Pro 17" with latest OSX 5.7
- I don't get any specific error messages; the device just doesn't show up in the DTG desktop window
- my internet connection is fine and both apps are on the same WiFi network
- my Firewall settings are set to "Allow all incoming connections"
- also tried setting Firewall set to allowing just DTG
- I successfully installed and ran the iPhone/iTouch app "Remote" (it shows up in iTunes
This is weird. I've had pretty good luck syncing any and all iPod Touch apps with the Desktop, but not being able to do this one pretty much renders Documents to Go useless.
Any suggestions?

I solved my own problem. The device was there all along. However on my iPod Touch I noticed I have no user name - - it is just a blank. So it appears in DTG desktop as a blank line which looks invisible to me, i.e. no device. But if I click on the blank line, there it is: a successful link and My DocsToGo.
I discovered all this by syncing my wife's iPhone, which does have a visible name.
Now I just have to figure out why my iPod Touch has no user name.

MTP device won't install

I wanted to install Ovi for my new N86-8mp, I continuously get the nmessage that my MTP device won't install, a bit of a nuisance since I want to use Nokia music. Th new hardeware wizard says something like: right section not found in INF section (in dutch...) Hardware manager shows some problems as wellin in CDC Comms manager.
I have tried the following: uninstall PC suite, remove folder 10208913 on private, total reboots several times.WinXP profSP3

I've recently had the problem with my 5800xm & the failure to install the MTP driver issues.
When I first got my phone it would connect in media transfer mode & sync music from WMP with no problems whatsoever. It had been a while since I synced music to my phone & after ripping some new cds, I wanted to transfer them to my phone. Herein started all the MTP driver problems.
I tried allsorts to rectify the problem over several days, various installs/un-installs of Nokia PC Suite & Ovi Suite (going against everything I hate about Ovi, but they are not related to this post), installing MTP drivers direct from Microsoft, messing about with my PC's registry among the many things I tried.
Hunted high & low through these forums to find a solution, but just kept going round & around in circles, all suggesting the same remedies as above, all with the same result - no avail.
Then I finally chanced upon this very thread, tucked away in "connectivity". The only new solution was to locate the 10208913 folder in 'private' on the phone & SD memory card.
At this point I was willing to do anything to save my sanity from this problem that was becoming increasingly irritating to me. Anyway, located & deleted said folder and honestly I wasn't expecting it to make a difference. Connected my phone via USB, the little balloon popped up "installing device driver software... Searching preconfigured folders"...
"not all this again" was my thought... and then...
"device driver successfully installed"
Staring at the screen I was expecting to open my eyes and see my girlfriend waking me up with a cup of tea, as seeing that message must have meant I was dreaming!
So, after all this it came down to two silly little folders on the phone & memory card....
I can only wonder what has happened to Nokia not to have picked up on this issue and created an update or patch to resolve this problem. How many more people are there with this problem that have little knowledge of how to find the folders and delete them, and have resigned themselves to the fact that syncing music is not possible anymore and have dented their confidence in Nokia.

As MANY others apple devices won't connect to my WiFi, but only when it is locked by a password.....
I have tried everything I've seen on here & I am beyond fed-up.
I have a 5c, but when others have visited with their iphone or ipad it also does not work.
Before the update it said 'unable to connect to network,' now it says 'incorrect password.'
This all began months ago when I replaced my router with COX. My laptop works completely fine...
My iphone will connect, but only when the network is NOT password protected. I live in a condo, so
it isn't an option for me to leave it unlocked.
Please help I will try anything! Also I am not a 'techy' so if you ask me something complicated
I may need some guidance.

Bizarre tabs behavior

After the 10.4.11 update Safari has had very bizarre tabs behavior.

The active image isn't showing, or shows up completely screwed up. I've tried reverting to Safari 2, which fixed the problem, but when reapplying the update the problem comes back. I've tried every magic script I know to repair the system.
I have no plug-ins whatsoever.
Any ideas?

Sorry, no ideas, but I have an odd situation, too. When working with multiple tabs, I click a link that opens a new window, but it doesn't open a new window. It opens in oldest tab with the header (and URL) of the old web page, but the body being the pop-up.
Go figure that one out!

Bizarre VPN behavior with Cymphonix Web Filtering Device

We just purchased some Cymphonix web filtering devices. These devices sit in-line (as a bridge) on the way from our internal network to the inside interface of our failover pair of 5520 ASAs. The ASAs are active/passive, single context. The software rev is 8.4(2).
We run about 320 site-to-site VPNs as well as AnyConnect VPNs to our ASAs. When I brought the Cymphonix devices in-line, all appeared to be working. Traffic was flowing out to the internet from our internal network. I was seeing stats and analysys from the Cymphonix device. However, after a few minutes, almost all of our VPNs went down (both site-to-site and Anyconnect). Traffic from the internal network to the internet was still working fine. When I tried to re-establish an Anyconnect VPN using my laptop on an outside connection, it failed. The message said the ASA "rejected" the connection. I turned up some debug on the ASA and got messages that included text like "internal error". Once I cabled the inside of the ASA directly back to the switch instead of going through the Cymphonix (and rebooted the ASA, just to be safe), the VPNs came back up.
I'm scratching my head, to put it mildly. A VPN is negotiated to the ASA. The traffic involved in establishing and maintaining the VPN will never see the Cymphonix box because the ASA processes it and it goes no further. So, how can connecting something to the inside interface of the ASA cause the VPNs to crumble? I should be able to connect anything I want or nothing at all to the inside of the ASA and it shouldn't matter one bit to the health of the VPNs. Here's another twist: all of the traffic that comes out of those site-to-site VPNs is delivered to an interface other than the inside (traffic from our customers is delivered to an isolated part of our network). So the inside interface is even more "uninvolved" in those site-to-site VPNs.
Traffic from the internal network out to the internet was flowing fine. Basic functionality was fine. Since I first tried this, I've wondered if I should have used a cross-over cable, but I find that hard to accept as a problem. How could non-VPN traffic be working fine our to the internet if I needed a cross-over cable? I'm reasonably certain the interfaces on the ASA are supposed to support auto-MDIX anyway.
Anybody have an idea of where to start on this one?

To help us to help you: include the debugs, I mean more details than "some debug included the message internal error"
Give us details (sanitize usernames, passwords, public addresses) and logs resp. debug output.
Networks are deterministic, the art is to understand how things are determined.

Bizarre email behavior

After having successful Mail use for years I now have a strange problem. Mail fails to send my emails using my Cox ISP. I receive emails without any problems. I can send my emails through my gmail account. Here is where it gets weird. I did all of the usual remedies, resetting the SMC, resetting PRAM, and performing verify disk and repairing disk permissions without correcting Mail's behavior. This behavior continued about one more week then corrected itself and I regained Mail send through my Cox account.
After being 'nice' for about 12 days, the problem has returned and I can send only by my gmail account. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Another point of information. My iPad (iOS 5.1.1) Mail sends and receives email OK through my Cox ISP but I always get the message "The mail server 'pop.west.cox.net' is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings." Since I get and send all email without any problems, I just sigh and ignore it.
All of my device accounts have identical account info. I now have iFatigue.
On a better note, my iPhone (iOS 6.0.1) Mail performs properly as expected.

I wish I could help but I still live with the problem on my iMac. My iPhone (4S) has no problem but my iPad would not recognize the Cox accounts. I finally deleted the Cox email accounts and re-entered them. That worked for the iPad. Bizarre!
On the iMac, I apparently at random, I successful send email using either of my Cox email addresses, but usually Mail forces me choose my Gmail account to send. Again, bizarre!

HP OFFICEJET PRO 8500 PRINTER - new printhead installed - "checking device" won't shut off.

My magenta cartridge was not printing. All I got on the printed sheets was red ,yellow and pink colors. I replaced the magenta cartridge and the same thing happened. I then replaced to ccyan cartridge with the same results. I searched the tutotials and installed a new magenta/cyan printhead.
Now the "checking device" message won't go off. After about an hour I tried to turn the printer off and received the message that the mechanical operations coud not be turned off.
After another hour I just unplugged the printer.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Sorry to hear that the Officejet Pro 8500 is not printing its colors correctly, usually this type of issue is resolved by replacing the printhead. Hopefully we can get the printer past "checking device" to see if it has resolved the problem.
You can try removing and installing the printheads and the cartridges again, here is a walk through guide: 'Initializing' Displays on the All-in-One for Longer Than Expected During Setup.
If that helps get the printer to finish "checking device" and you are still having the missing or incorrect color issue, take a look through this support page: Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality.

Brand new Mac Pro - Suddenly iOS devices won't charge

So I've been using my brand new Mac Pro 8-core for about a week now and I've already had 1 force reboot (kernel panic, error 14 page fault) and earlier tonight, when I plugged in my iPhone 4S, its screen didn't turn on as usual after being plugged in... The "charging" icon didn't appear in the phone's menu bar, and neither Xcode nor iTunes recognize the phone as being plugged in. I'm running Snow Leopard with all the latest software updates.
I've tried:
plugging it into other USB ports
using a different USB cable
unplugging and plugging in quickly, repeatedly
charging my iPod touch and my wife's old iPhone 3G - they won't charge either
My "old" Mac Pro that this Mac Pro is replacing had a very similar issue... after leaving the computer on for a while and returning, usb devices wouldn't charge, apps would hang, and i'd have to cold reboot. This got progressively worse over time, and eventually "died" when the system crashed w/ a never-ending beachball and wouldn't boot back up. I'm starting to wonder if I should just return it and get an iMac or something since I have a hunch this is hardware related.
Something also weird is that before I plugged my iPhone in, I was using Xcode and had my phone selected as a build target... even though it wasn't plugged it in. (Normally if it's not plugged in, the name will not appear in the list.) Nothing happened when I tried running my app obviously so I stopped the build, then plugged my phone in. That's when I noticed it wouldn't charge.
THEN it gets even worse... while I was typing this, when trying different USB ports, in the process I unplugged my keyboard. After plugging my keyboard back in, it wouldn't work. Cold reboot.
I'm really hesitant to lug this brand new Mac Pro back to the Apple store just to hear them say "The diagnostic test looks ok to me!" and have the issue crop up again a couple weeks later.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this, or have you seen anything similar with your Mac Pro? Again, I just picked this Mac Pro up last weekend at an Apple store.
