BizTalk 2006 R2 and SQL 2012

Just wondering if anybody is running BizTalk 2006 R2 on SQL 2012?  I can see it's not supported on the link below;
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926628
But we are currently running it on SQL 2008 R2 which works fine (unsupported).  We need to migrate our BizTalk databases to SQL 2012

There are too many dependencies on the SQL version. You can try but 95% you just lost your time. 5% you could manage this, because MSFT claims some level of the back compatibility. I know nobody who managed this. For sure, there would be a lot of tuning
up.

  • Lync 2013 and SQL 2012 on the same server

    Hi,
I'm in the process of migrating Lync 2010 to Lync 2013.  I have a clean install of Windows Server 2012 R2.  Is it possible to install Lync 2013 and SQL 2012 on the same server or does it have to be on separate servers.
    Thanks
    P

Configure Separated SQL Server to use in an Enterprise deployment of Lync Server. Standard Edition servers use a collocated SQL Server Express version of SQL Server that is right sized for the workloads of a Standard Edition server.

  • Is it possible to install SharePoint 2013 and SQL 2012 on single Azure Virtual Machine

I had a Azure subscription, I need had created only one Virtual Machine, is it possible to install SharePoint 2013 and SQL Server 2012 on that single virtual machine in azure.
I had SharePoint 2013 and SQL Server 2012 licence from MSDN subscription,
Finally on Azure virtual machine is it possible to Install SharePoint 2013 and SQL server by downloading these software from MSDN.

    Hi,
It is supported to install sharepoint 2013 and SQL server on the same server. However, please check the size of your Azure VM and make sure it is compatible for that.
The minimum recommended size for a virtual machine is A3 when using SQL Server Enterprise Edition. Select A3 or higher when using SQL Server Enterprise Edition. Select A4 when using SQL Server 2012 or 2014 Enterprise Optimized for Transactional Workloads
images. Select A7 when using SQL Server 2012 or 2014 Enterprise Optimized for Data Warehousing Workloads images. In addition, the default size for SharePoint 2013 image is A3.
In addition, as a best practice, you can install them in different servers and then deploy SharePoint 2013 with SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups in Azure:

Trying to get MSMQ working in a SQL 2012 Cluster. We have two nodes, OS server 2012 R2, and an instance of SQL 2012 on each node. I can send test messages to private and public queues. However when trying to send message through a stored procedure call the

  • Help -- sql 2008 SP3 (x64) and sql 2012 R2 SMO

We have a sql 2008 x64 sql server with SP3. We need to upgrade a third-party app (related to our SAN) and it needs to install
    a. Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package (x64)
    b. Microsoft SQL Server 2012 CLR Types (x64)
    c. Microsoft Sql 2012 R2 Management Objects (x64)
Are there any known compatibility issues installing these on a sql 2008 SP3 server?
    TIA,
    edm2

    Hello,
The components you post above are stand-alone packages that provide additional value for Microsoft SQL Server 2012. The installation of these components will not effect the previous installed SQL Server instance.
SQL Server Management Objects (SMO) is a .NET Framework object which can will work with SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2, and SQL Server 2012. You can download the SQL Server Management Objects (SMO) and the requisite CLR Types from

  • SQL server 2014 and Sql 2012 installation on VMWare machine

    Hi ,
Please let me know Can we Install SQL Server 2014 RTM version and SQL Server 2012 SP1 On Vmare machine version 9.
Does it Supports on VMware 9 . If yes please give me the links .
    Thanks a lot

    Hello,
You can find that on VMware Web site for their high end products only as you can see in the following URL. For VMware
    9 you won't find it.
    http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/sim/interop_matrix.php
VMware 9 is a PC product that basically allows to install any product that works on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 or earlier. VMware 9 introduces support for Windows 8 and Windows 2012.
So, SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012 should install on Windows 8/Windows 2012 RTM with no issues on a VMware 9 virtual machine. Earlier operating systems may require installation of service packs and updates as explained on the following URLs.

  • What does "Scale out deployment (Web Farms)" mean for SP2013 and SQL 2012 SSRS?

    Dear community,
    in the
Feature List of Reporting Services 2012, it's written that "Scale out deployment (Web farms)" is not possible for SQL 2012 Standard edition. However, does this relate as well to SSRS in SP-integrated mode, or only to native mode?
In other words: is it possible to deploy SSRS using SQL 2012 STANDARD on more than one server in a SP2013 farm?
And just to be sure: am I right to assume that in both cases, you can create multiple SSRS Svc Applications (be they all running on the same server) and assign them to different web applications (through their proxy groups)?
    Cheers,
    C

    Hi CHinz,
According to your description, you want to configure scale-out deployment for SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 standard edition. Right?
As you can see in the msdn liabrary, for SQL Server 2012, scale-out deployment is only supported in Enterprise and Business Intelligence editions. This is related to both native mode and sharepoint integrated mode.
It's not supported to deploy a SSRS 2012 standard edition instance on more than one server.
Since scale-out deployment is for different report server instance to share one report server database. You can use different web applications to access the same report in different report server instances.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Storage layout (Hyber-V and SQL 2012)

    Hi,
I have SQL 2012 virtualized Hyper-V and was looking for the best practice for storage layout , is it the same layout ususely using for physical SQL Server.
This SQL instance will be the backend for MS-TFS 2013

    >is it the same layout ususely using for physical SQL Server.
Basically yes.  Each VM should have a separate disk (.vhdx) for OS, Data, Log and TempDb.  If you have multiple disks on the Hyper-V host, you can place all the VMs' OS .vhdx files on one disk, all the VMs' on another disk, etc.
And if you don't have separate disks on the Hyper-V hosts, building the VMs with multiple .vhdx files makes it easy to move the data or the log or the tempdb .vhdx files to a separate drive at a later date.  Also it makes it easy to monitor IO from
the VM and the Hyper-V host by separating the IO into different channels.

  • SUP and SQL login failed

    Hi,
Been racking my brain about this one, searched online (including here) but haven't found a solution yet. My scenario is: SCCM 2012 R2 and SQL 2012 (with databases CM_SCM and SUSDB, instance name is MSSQLSERVER) installed on the same server. SCCM will only
be used to build servers using TS. I'm using SCCM as a SUP to do offline servicing of the wim files. This setup was working up to several weeks ago (don't know exactly when it stopped) and since, whenever I do a software update sync, I get
'Sync failed: WSUS server not configured. Please refer to WCM.log for configuration error details.. Source: CWSyncMgr::DoSync'.
Checking the WCM.log I get the following error:
    System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\MACHINENAME$'.~~   at Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.BaseApi.SoapExceptionProcessor.DeserializeAndThrow(SoapException soapException)~~   at Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.DatabaseAccess.AdminDataAccessProxy.ExecuteSPGetConfiguration()~~

If I then check the SQL Server log, I have (over and over again) the error:
Login failed for user "DOMAIN\MACHINENAME$". Reason: Could not find a login matching the name provided. [CLIENT: <local machine>] - Error 18456, Severity: 14, State: 5
According to http://sqlblog.com/blogs/aaron_bertrand/archive/2011/01/14/sql-server-v-next-denali-additional-states-for-error-18456.aspx , state 5 indicates (as the error msg mentions) that the login doesn't exist, however in the SQL server it does exist
and is also present under both DBs\Security\Users.
There was no SPN set for the service account I created when setting the server up (in this case sccmsql), I've now set it manually to MSSQLSvc/FQDN:1433, as mentioned in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh427336.aspx#BKMK_ManageSPNforDBSrv
    , but without any luck.
Thanks in advance for reading this.
    Dan

    Dan,
Remove the SUP role. Remove WSUS and delete the SUSDB. Reboot the site server and reinstall WSUS and SUP. It'll recreate all the required permissions as part of the install.

  • Installing SQL 2012 BI on a server with Exchange 2010

I would like to create a new SBS-type network ... and I know that SBS2011 is dead, so I am looking at moving into the new Server 2012 world.  I understand that Server 2012 Essentials has some really nice management and remote-access capabilities.
I definitely want to install Exchange 2010 on-premises and I know that it cannot be installed on Server 2012 Essentials, so I will have to deploy a second server running Server 2012 Standard.  Not thrilled, but I can live with that (I miss SBS already).
I am also interested in installing SQL Server 2012 BI because I understand my POS (Point-Of-Sale) vendor should release a new SQL-based option in 2013 and I want to anticipate that and be ready.
I should have 15-17 users on this network without heavy use - mostly file + print sharing along with Exchange-based email.  I do understand that Exchange takes up a lot of RAM, which is potentially a conflict with SQL Server, but I can put
8-12GB into each box.  (Each box has two dual-core 2GHz AMD cpu's.)
    So, my questions are:
Where should I best install SQL2012 BI?
Can Exchange 2010 and SQL 2012 BI live on the same box?  If so, are there any tuning/install recommendations?
As you can see, I'm a newbie to the 2012 world and I appreciate any advice / pointers you can give.
    Thanks!

    Hello,
    Please see the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997379(v=EXCHG.80).aspx
“Running SQL Server on the same computer as a production Exchange mailbox server is not recommended. Both SQL Server and Exchange mailbox servers consume a large amount of memory and disk resources to operate optimally. Co-hosting SQL Server and Exchange Server
on the same computer in a production environment will likely lead to poor performance by one or both of the servers. Additionally, troubleshooting and securing such an installation is not well understood.”
“Move either Exchange Server or SQL Server off the computer. Completely removing one of these programs from the computer is recommended”
    Hope this helps.

  • In place upgrade Windows 2008 and SQL 2008

    Hi all,
We are planning to upgrade to Windows 2012 and SQL 2012 , can we take this in-place upgrade path in the following order ?
    Setup 1 Host with 2 VM's running Windows 2008 R2 on Host and Windows 2008 R2/sqL 2008 on VM's.
    1. Host1(running 2 VM's) - In-place upgrade windows 2008 R2 to windows 2012 R2
    2. VM1 on host1 - In place upgrade windows 2008 R2 to Windows 2012 R2
    3. VM2 on host1 - In place upgrade windows 2008 R2 to Windows 2012 R2 (AD Server)
    4. SQL running VM1 - In place upgrade SQL 2008 with DB/reporting services to SQL 2012 DB/reporting services
All Servers ( including Host and VM's) are stand alone in a workgroup setup.( except one VM a stand alone AD server by itself).
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
If you want migrate from windows 2008r2 to windows 2012r2, you must install windows server 2008r2 sp1.

For the host 1 upgrade, please refer to the following:

  • MS SQL 2012 Supported for v6.2?

    Hi -
We are still on P6 6.2. The client with enterprise db (no web).  We have other tools (non Primavera) that now require to upgrade to MSSQL 2012.  Our IT department would like to apply this to our Primavera as well.  Is this possible?  The last tested configuration document that I can find is from 2012 and of course doesnt list SQL 2012 as a tested config.  If there is an updated config file can someone send the link?  Why Oracle doesnt make these simple inquires easier to find I do not know.
PS Long story why we have not upgraded but basically my company doesnt want to shell out the $ for both the maintenance and license upgrade with what we use it for (schedule only not costs, web, reporting).  Believe me I would love to use the new features but managment and IT do not want to unless it is mandatory coming from our customers or Oracle states no more version 6.
    Thanks for any feedback.

    Hi Boomer,
There is no official document published about incompatibilities between AD FS 2.0 and SQL 2012. Though many people have issues about this combination, please see this thread below:
    ADFS 2.0 + SQL 2012
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/6842274e-dca6-423d-9ddb-f5949fa83076/adfs-20-sql-2012?forum=Geneva
In the meantime, SQL Server 2012 is supported with AD FS 2.1 for sure, you can try to upgrade AD FS 2.0 to AD FS 2.1 if the issue persists.
In addition, I couldn’t find any resource about migrating AD FS configuration database from SQL to WID, only the other way around.
