when we were Deploying Package using MSI we got the following error

I have read in one of the article that this is a bug with CU6 Update
Can anyone help me is there any way we can import this MSI?

One option you can try is delete the BizTalk application completely and reinstall this package again. This issue occurs when the update to the previous deployment schema and its namespace.
For BizTalk 2009, there is no release to fix this issue, yet some customer had raised this issue in 2009 environment. May be the time when the customer raised this issue (or when they/MS realised this as an issue) Microsoft's Mainstream Support for this
version is going to end (08/July/2014).

If there is an issue in BizTalk in the production environment(version 1.0) and lower environments executable already have other fixes(version 1.5), how would we test and promote the production defect to production

It would depend on where the defect was and how you change the dll versioning depending on the fix.
For MAPS, the associated ports need to be stopped, the MAP removed from the port configuration, the MAP related resource undeployed, the DLL un-gac'ed and deleted. The reverse needs to be done then for the revision.
For schemas, it is a bit more complicated since the associated orchestrations have to be stopped/un-enlisted (something not possible for long running/dehydrated processes), maps removed before one can even start working on redeploying the schemas.
The pipeline components, the route is the same as the MAPs.
For orchestrations, well for a version change, you can un-enlist the existing one, remove the receive port binding (to ensure no new instances are created) deploy the new one with the bindings and you;d be good to go.
In case any of the orchestrations are published as web services or schemas then you;d need to re-publish them for the changes to be affected.
In case of BAM activity changes, BACKUP the existing BAMPrimaryImport, remove any TPE bindings, remove OR Update (possible only if definitons have been added), and re-apply.
In some cases, you may have to remove (Control Pannel) and then re-install the package.

BizTalk Server 2013 and deployment MSI with dynamic send ports

Hello community, wonder if any help out there for this odd problem.
Deployment of application msi fails into BizTalk 2013 prod environment, fails when deploying the project dll that contains all the orchestrations,
and reports a failure to apply early bindings. The only early bindings in this project are dynamic send ports. I cannot recreate the problem in in my QAS environment where deployments of the same msi works fine.
I can build an msi without any bindings at all except for the dynamically created ones, and this also display the same behaviour on import.
I have test deployed a 2nd unrelated app that also uses dynamic send ports, and this displays the problem.
Adding the assembly directly to BizTalk console displays the same behaviour.
Deployment of msi apps without dynamic send ports are ok.
The dynamic ports use a pipeline including a custom pipeline component which I can confirm is available in the correct directory
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013\Pipeline Components
No specific further detail is available in the error except.

Other information that may be relevant:
The main difference between QAS and PROD is that PROD is a two node cluster. Import behaviour is the same if attempted on either node. Assemblies are installed in both nodes currently.
The dynamic ports are set on handlers that are non-clustered hosts (all are for adapter type SMTP).
I have ensured that all the adapter handlers are identically setup in both environments.
The project files were migrated to BizTalk 2013 from BizTalk 2010, imported and then converted using VS 2012.
The msi has installed the assemblies as per usual and they do exist in the .net 4 gac
There is a reference to a shared resource in a different application, this application is installed and imported ok.
I’m a bit stuck at what to try now, I have option where I could recreate the dynamic ports from scratch in the orchestrations and redeploy to dev in the hope it’s something that VS2012 didn’t handle too gracefully
when converting the project. I could move the functionality into a helper class and forget about using dynamic sends, rather not go down that route. I'm still suspecting this is small difference in setup
of the group between QAS and PROD but I can't see anything jumping out.
Any comments are most welcome.

Two things.
1. That's what I would do first, recreate (really just change and reset the properties) the Orchestration Ports in Visual Studio.
2. Probably not related but, Custom Pipeline Components should not be placed in the Pipeline Components folder. All Custom Pipeline Components should be in the GAC only. The Pipeline Components folder
is a compatibility vestige from BizTalk Server 2004.

Domain users creation for BizTalk server 2013 installation

You need to create below Windows group on your AD before you start your BizTalk Configuration .
1)SSO Administrators:Administrator of the Enterprise Single Sign-On (SSO) service.
2)SSO Affiliate Administrators :Administrators of certain SSO affiliate applications.Can create/delete SSO affiliate applications, administer user mappings, and set credentials for affiliate application users.
3)BizTalk Server Administrators:Has the least privileges necessary to perform administrative tasks Can deploy solutions, manage applications, and resolve message processing issues.
To perform administrative tasks for adapters, receive and send handlers, and receive locations, the BizTalk Server Administrators must be added to the Single Sign-On Affiliate Administrators.
4)BizTalk Server Operators:Has a low privilege role with access only to monitoring and troubleshooting actions
5) BizTalk Application Users:The default name of the first In-Process BizTalk Host Group created by Configuration Manager.Use one BizTalk Host Group for each In-Process host in your environment.Includes accounts with access to In-Process

We have deployed Microsoft Biztalk Server 2013 Enterprise edition on a cloud VM. We are facing an issue with SFTP adapter to receive. Following are the details;
On this VM, we are facing an issue with BizTalk server 2013 SFTP adapter. The SFTP location can receive and send message through SFTP clients and .Net code. But using BizTalk server 2013 SFTP adapter we are only able to send the file on SFTP location but
could not receive the files from same location.
We are getting just one line error in system event log that is :
Event#7011. A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the BTSSvc$BizTalkServerApplication service.

BizTalk Server 2013 SFTP Adapter with private key - Did not poll any files

Hello,
We have a requirement to connect SFTP secure site with the private key and polling files. Initially I have
tested BizTalk Server 2013 SFTP Adapter receiver Port using Bitvise SSH SFTP Server tool and it was working perfectly in our local network environment( with public private key authentication).
However when we connected to Client SFTP server with private key authentication, It successfully connected to SFTP Server but
did not poll any files from SFTP Site. I added only one file to SFTP Server ( 145 kb file) for testing purpose.
However BizTalk Server 2013 SFTP Send Adapter is working well with the same configuration.
I could not find any errors in Event viewer also. I can download\upload file using WinSCP tool .
So I downloaded nSoftware SFTP Adapter trial version and deployed on server. nSoftware SFTP adapter is also working find
without any issues for Client SFTP Site.

This is how SFTP Server download folder permission configured. I have got this details using WinSCP tool.

BizTalk Adapter for SFTP is where the polling logic is implemented. It is not part of the SFTP Client logic. any SFTP Client is for User Interaction and you do what you want/when you want.
The BizTalk Receive however is for purposes of automation and the adapter polls the receive location using the credentials every polling interval to check for the files matching the filter. When it find a file, it will read and publish to message box or
submit to pipeline for processing. Your setting the polling interval to 0 (ZERO) might actually be disabling the polling.
Set your poll interval to a non-zero value and check the behavior.

Virtual BizTalk Server load balancing

We in process migrating Physical Biztalk server from current datacenter to a cloud based datacenter.
The requirement is the all server deployed that must be ritualized.We are using Citrix load balancer in the new datacenter and VMware 5.1 as host OS.
we were not successful deploying the load balancing with NLB and Software LB within the virtual world.

Seeing that you have an external load balancer available, you really should not be trying software load balancing. Windows NLBS is a software based load balancing and is not really dependent on the physical/virtual hosting of the OS. There are certain gotchas
w.r.t the NLB modes since they depend on network protocols such as arp, propagation of MAC addresses and usage of the MAC in the L2 routing tables of network devices.
You should be taking the help of the cloud service provider as ONLY they would have an understanding of their underlying networking infrastructure such as VLANS. addressing, routing rules and such.
You could also refer to the VMware support forum for KB's such as

Most importantly, NLBS is a base OS related service and you're more likely to get a response in the Windows Server Forum. In the specific case of BizTalk, the Windows NLB is only used for hosting the out of process services such as those associated with

Visual Studio on Production servers is not recommended. If gacutil is what you want then, you may choose to install ONLY the Visual Studio Developer Tools which would get you the required utilities.
You have not mentioned the version you're migrating from? As part of the BizTalk documentation there are migration documents such as for TPM Database, Parties, etc. which you might require.
For the applications (BizTalk), they would need to be migrated to .Net 4.0, recompiled and deployed.
Ideally you should setup a migration environment T & D where you'd examine and explore these various options including the suitability/applicability of the 3rd Party adapters/components that you currently use.

BizTalk Server 2013 R2 EDI EDIFACT custom Target Namespace is not being used

I have a client that has a partner that doesn't use the "out of the box" BizTalk EDIFACT 97A DELFOR schema. I'm using BizTalk Server 2013 R2. I need to use a custom target namespace. I have created a custom schema for EFACT_D97A_DELFOR with
a different namespace http://schemas.microsoft.com/BizTalk/EDI/EDIFACT/2006_<partnername>.
In the Parties agreement/Transaction Set Settings/Local Host Settings, I have the following in a separate row under the "Default", UNH2.1=DELFOR, UNH2.2=D, UNH2.3=97A and TargetNamespace=http://schemas.microsoft.com/BizTalk/EDI/EDIFACT/2006_<partnername>
It wants to use the out of the box schema from the error below but I need it to use the custom schema. If I change the input file with a UH2.5 value along with changing the root node to match it EFACT_D97A_DELFOR_<UNH2.5), it works but the partner
will not be sending this, so it's not an option.

All,
Because the trading partner is not sending the UNH2.5, UNG2.1 and UNG2.2 values in the incoming message, the EDIFACT custom targetnamespace schema will not be used. I created a decode custom pipeline component where I inject the UNH2.5 element,changed
the rootnode to the trading partner specific schema to EFACT_D97A_DELFOR_XYZ (where "XYZ" is the value in the UNH2.5) and in the Party agreement->TransactionSetSettings->LocalHostSettings default row specifying the UNH2.1, UNH2.2
and UNH2.5, it will then use the custom schema(http://schemas.microsoft.com/BizTalk/EDI/EDIFACT/2006#EFACT_D97A_DELFOR_XYZ. I could've injected the UNG segment
and used a custom target namespace and not changed the rootnode of the custom schema but didn't want to add all that extra segment information.
The example below assumes that the UNH segment only has values "up to" UNH2.4 only and appends the UNH2.5. Uses the UNA segement to dynamically set the componentDataElementSeparator.

BAM Activity and view issue on BizTalk server 2013 R2 machine.

I am trying to make BAM portal work since couple of days but no luck yet...
I ma using BizTalk server 2013 R2.
I am trying to deploy the activity and view from my Development server to Test server ( it's working fine on Developemnt).
I have gone through one post and found this and followed steps here is the output for that :
First confirm that you can see the name of the activity in the list of deployed activity by executing this command:
bm.exe get-activities
--> I can see the activity name in there so I belive that activity is got created.
While creating the BAM activity you must have created/deployed a view get the name of the view by using this command:
bm.exe get-views -Activity:<activity name>
--> I can see the view name in there so I belive that view is exist.
You need to provide permission to the account you are using to access the BAM portal on this view by using this command.
bm.exe add-account -AccountName:”<AccountName>” -View:<viewname>
--> while executing this command is got error as :
Using 'BAMPrimaryImport' BAM Primary Import database on server 'TESTSERVER'...
ERROR: Security management of the BAM view failed.
The SQL role for the specified view is missing.
Note : My BAMAlert service is running and running using
GROUP\~biztalkservice account I am logged on Test Server using "NitinUser" account with administrator rights.
What does this mean - if this mean that I needs to give rights to my user (NitinUser) on SQL Database please tell me how to do that ? with command....

His solution for this problem is to remove the view and re-add it, which worked for him. Obviously I didn't encounter this error, so have to suggest the solution from community.

also have noticed one thing that by executing following command in sql management studio.

on my development box it's showing my user GROUP\nitinUser and Name = CustomBizTalkDB
but when I execute this on TEST server, entry for GROUP\nitinUser is not in database

Connectivity problem with MS BizTalk Server 2010

I have a connectivity problem between MS BizTalk Server 2010 and SAP.
There are two virtual machines (VMs on VMWare), the first one is SAP ERP6 Ehp6 (IDES), and second one is MS BizTalk Server 2010 (BT). On BT side I have deployed a package which sends ORDERS05 document to SAP and has to receive a reverse call. The bottom line is that SAP can receive a call from BT but cannot send a reverse call. "Microsoft.ServiceModel.Channels.Common.XmlReaderParsingException: The segment name is not valid for the IDOCTYP, Release, or CIMTYP. Segment name: E2EDP01006GRP   IDOCTYP: ORDERS05    Release: 620   CIMTYP: . Ensure that your message xml validates against the operation schema.

MSTDC Error in clustered Environment in while interacting to DB Server from BizTalk server

Hi All,
After completing all my required Biz-talk Integrations (All were related to WCF-Custom Adapter : SQL Binding), I deployed the same to the client environment. But, the same thing which worked for me in my development environment was giving some issues in
the deployed environment.
The main difference was, at client environment - The DB Server was clustered environment and the interaction was through the load balancer.
The first issue I encountered was, there was firewall blocking the access to the DB server from Biz Talk server. Then after enabling and opening the Port 1433, the issue got fixed and I was able to communicate with the DB Server.
After this, I was getting the error related to MSTDC. For this to work properly, in my BizTalk application Configuration, if i set the property for "UseAmbientTransaction" as false under "SqlBinding" for the WCF-Custom Send Port, it is
working as expected!
But, I heard from our Architects that the best approach is to set the property as "TRUE" for "UseAmbientTransaction" property.
So I set the property as true and done the below configurations.
1. Enabling Network DTC using "dcomcnfg.exe"
2. Adding and enabling Fire wall exception for DTC.
Even after making the above changes, I was getting the same error. Then after cross checking with DTCPing and DCTester on both local and deployed copy, i got the below difference.
1. Port 135 (RPC EPM) was opened in my local environment but it was having "Filtered" access at the deployed copy.
So my question is, after opening the above port, will it solve the issue?
Secondly, is there any security threat ter opening the above Port?
Any quick suggestion/solution is highly appreciated.

Performing operations on SQL Server using BizTalk Server always involves two resources—the adapter connecting to SQL Server and the BizTalk Message Box residing on SQL Server. Hence, all operations performed using BizTalk Server are performed within the
scope of an MSDTC transaction. So, to use the SQL adapter with BizTalk Server, you must always enable MSDTC. To enable the adapter to perform operations within the scope of an MSDTC transaction, you must configure MSDTC both on the computer running the SQL
adapter and SQL Server. Also, you must add MSDTC to the exceptions list of Windows Firewall. That is the reason why recommend setting for this binding property is
true; otherwise you might either experience message loss or duplicate messages, depending on whether you are performing inbound or outbound operations.
Exception is for operations where the adapter client does not write any data to the SQL Server database, such as a Select operation, you might not want the additional overhead of performing the operations inside a transaction. In such cases,
you can configure the SQL adapter to perform operations without a transactional context by setting the
UseAmbientTransaction binding property to false.

MSDN version to access Biztalk server development/test?

In what MSDN version is access to BizTalk dev./test server included? and is there any difference if its a cloud install or not?

For BizTalk Server, you need minimum of "Visual Studio Premium with MSDN" (Or also unofficially termed as MSDN Premium).
Development for MABS (Microsoft Azure BizTalk Services) can happen using on-premise Visual studio, but to deploy and used them on cloud, you need to pay for the Azure storage and usage credit. With "Visual Studio Premium with MSDN" license you
will get $100 monthly credit and with Visual Studio Ultimate with MSDN license you will get $150 monthly credit. This credit is something like "use it or lose it" type. i.e. monthly you have been given with the money credit, if you don't use it you
lose that month's Azure credit. Next month you will get new credit, last month's credit will not be carried forward.

BizTalk Server Developer 2013 Vs BizTalk 2013 R2

I would like to know that if user production environment is BizTalk 2013R2.
Can I use "BizTalk Server Developer 2013" for my development? Does they compatiable?

Yes it’s possible.
BizTalk 2013 R2 support both .NET Framework 4.5 and .NET Framework 4.5.1 not just 4.5.1.
Artifacts from BizTalk 2013 are .NET 4.5 and they are compatible with BizTalk 2013 R2 environment and hence they can be deployed in BizTalk 2013 R2 – Technically it’s possible.

Then the question comes, would I do this? I will not. But if you don’t have an option, you got to use BizTalk 2013 in BizTalk 2013 R2, then I can. And for future development I would use BizTalk 2013 R2 environments for BizTalk 2013 R2 deployment.

Biztalk 2010 updating visual studio solution in dev then updating dlls MSI/Bindings in biztalk server prod

Hi,
I have my biztalk vs solution in Dev and deployed my dlls MSI/Binding files to prod. The biztalk solution is only in dev. Now every time I want to make changes to my biztalk vs solution in dev such as changing data type in fields in schemas from string to
integer, then I have to build my project again. from that point, how do I automatically update my dlls, MSI/binding files in biztalk server prod so that it uses recent code from biztalk vs solution. I really don't want to keep exporting MSI/ binding files
from dev and importing them to prod.
Do I have to configure biztalk deployment framework to do that automatically?
