Bkup multiple systems on one ext HD

I would like to use RnR to backup my 2 Lenovo systems to one USB attached HD. Will RnR recognize which backup belongs to which system, that is will they have different names? If not will this confuse RnR if I request a restore? One system is x32 and the other is x64. I have a second important question. I checked the help screen on the advanced menu for RnR 4.3 and could not find out if RnR does a verification step on the backup file. Does anybody know?
T23: 2647-8RU, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
A61E: 6418-12U, W7/Pro 64
X200: 7454-CTO, W7/Pro 32

Dont rename anything to anything.
Test your disaster recovery plan. I trash my system twice a year to see how recover works and what new updates waxed me. Do this on a calm weekend with no other issues.

No i would buy 2 USB  backups not 1.
Always backup to Cd/DVD every six months. Hardware does fail. The key is on this date, nov 2012, I had exactly this.
If you use RNR back on USB from nov 2012, fine.   Then restore to last week incremental. Your USB is not mirrored.
==
I have C, 160 GB, 30 mb used. 2nd hdd 320mb.  RNR backup up to D (320mb) All HDD will fail after 4 years.
I use www.nero.com to take Daily backups (quicken, email)  and Monthly to DVD-rw.Other files like HMM manual for my pc.
==
I do disaster recovery for a living. I swap out my daily backup DVD every 2 months to another, then reverse.
++
When it  all breaks, You will not shamble,  You might to buy a new $45 HDD. will it take 3 days, yep. WIll you be in shock, NO.

RNR is dead. not available on win8. "use windows backup".
LSC replaces Pc-doctor. WOW 17 pages of forum.
I cant commment, they will ban me.
OH, you have not taken a backup, you have not enough disc space. Click here. for hardware to purchase.  Just read the posts.

  • Transport to multiple systems using one package

    My customer has one development instance that services two test and production landscapes for seperate geographical regions.  This is a new installation and they are developing using packages.  They currently belive that they can transport the objects from those packages to each landscape via the same package, transport layer and transport route.  I'm contending that that is not possible and that they will have to create a seperate package with the same objects for each landscape if they want to transport to both.  I'm a bit inexperienced at this and could use any advice available.  Is it possible to setup STMS transport routes to transport to two seperate environments from the same transport layer?
    Regards.

    Hi Joe,
    One thing that you can do is to ask you Basis people to provide the Data and CO files for your transport request
    You can then send these files via mail, CD etc to any number of locations and import it into the system

  • Connecting multiple CRM systems to one backend R/3 and vice versa

    Hello experts
    Can you tell me whether it is advisable to connect 2 CRM systems to a single backend R/3 and vice versa? Is it recommended by SAP? I require some notes or docs on this. I got some notes on this forum but they are all Internal ones which I am unable to see.
    Please help!
    Warm Regards
    Debolina

    Hi,
    Though SAP does not recommend connecting multiple systems to one ECC backend. But still it has designed a procedure to achieve this.
    Here is the excerpts of the steps required.
    1. Execute report MCRM_SETTINGS for each CRM system connected to the ERP
    system.
    2. Check the entries of the table CRMRFCPAR of the connected ERP system:
    The field REM_LOGSYS should be filled for every entry marked with
    u2018Created by the MCRM reportu2019.
    3. Activate the corresponding consumers in the table CRMCONSUM
    (transaction SM30).
    4. Internal and external number ranges for Business Partners have to be aligned
    manually.
    Hope it helps you!!!!
    Good Luck.

  • Multiple DataTargets in the Same BI 7.0 System to One DataSource

    Currently, I do not have access to BI 7.0 system.  I am wondering whether it is possible to connect MULTIPLE DataTargets of a single BI 7.0 system to ONE DataSource in the source system?  I have searched the forum, but I couldn't find relevant posts.  If I am not wrong, until BW 3.5, once a DataSource is assigned to an InfoSource, it can not be assigned to any other InfoSource of the same BW system.  I have heard that this has changed in BI 7.0 with the new DataFlow concept.
    The current requirement is that multiple DataTargets of a single BI system need to get DELTA data from the same DataSource in the source system.  If this is technically possible in BI 7.0, should the source system also support such an assignment (since the DELTA load timestamps are maintained in the source system)?  What source systems currently support this feature, if any?  What are the appropriate tables in the source system that I need to look at to do further investigation?
    All the useful inputs regarding these questions will be rewarded with points.  Thanks!

    Yes, it is possible.
    Transformations and DTP's are Source - Target specific.

    Data is extracted into PSA from the sourcesystem and is taken from there to different targets connected using diff transformations. If the datasource works on timestamp then it all depends on how the data is transformed to diff targets from PSA.
    What source systems currently support this feature, if any?
    ECC, irrespective of sourcesystem it all depends on how the datasource functions as data is only extracted till PSA.
    What are the appropriate tables in the source system that I need to look at to do further investigation?
    Datasource properties - ?? ROOSOURCE...

    Hi Sameer,
    But since there is only one transformation between the PSA and DataTarget, all the data (irrespective of the indicator) will flow through unless I filter on the "planning stage" indicator
    You can create one transformation between Datasource and ONE DataTarget. But in your case, you have TWO datatargets. So you have to create two DTP's which can have diffrent filter parameters.
    You can fill two different targets ( cube1: before manual update, cube2: after manual update) using your datasource.
    For this, you need to create two transformation. Keep in mind, everytime you create a transformation you must create a DTP for data movement.
    So you will have:
    DS1 -- TRANS1-- DTP1 --Cube1
    DS1 -- TRANS2DTP2Cube 2
    In DTP1 set  filter for indicator :X and DTP2 set  filter for indicator :Y. Both DTP1 and DTP2 should work in delta mode.
    I would suggest you to create one initialization for your DS1. if it is not possible create two infopackages for two initializations. I suppose you have the indicator in selection parameters of infopackages.

  • Multiple SAP Systems In One MSCS Cluster

    We have installed a NW 7.0 EHP abap stack in a MSCS Cluster with 2 nodes.
    This was installed as a standard Cluster Install.
    We have now higlighted a requirement to install a 2nd (Java ) instance in this Cluster Group.
    The NW 7.0 EHP1 documentation and Note 1321854 shows that multiple SAP systems in one  MSCS cluster is supported.
    The documentation, however, is not clear if the 2nd instance can be installed when the 1st instance was installed without the preperations for Multiple Systems.
    There are no further documentation or guidelines to help.
    Has anyone come across this situation or managed to install 2 SAP instances in one Cluster Group based on Windows 2003, SQL Server 2005.
    Regards

    I am not quite sure if I understood your problem completley. But let's see...
    Usually you use on on MSCS Cluster Group per SAP instance. So you have your already existing NW 7.0 ABAP stack in a separated Cluster Group, and you create a new Cluster Group for your new Java system.
    You can find more information about it in this guide here on SDN:
    Link: [High Availability;
    More information about High Availability Setups for SAP System can be found here on SDN:
    Link: [High Availability]
    If you want to use the same database for your clustered ABAP stack and your new Java stack you can do a MCOD installation.
    Please see Link: [SAP Note 388866 - Multiple Components on One Database - Installation|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/388866]
    Hope this helps.

  • Is it possible to connect multiple R/3 systems to one APO system?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to connect multiple R/3 systems to one APO system?
    Kind regards,
    Kris De Smedt.

    Hi Kris,
    Yes, you can connect multiple R/3 systems to one APO system. All you need to do is to maintain connection parameters of all the R/3 systems with APO. (i.e. RFC Destinations, logical systems, partner profiles etc.)

  • Possible to connect multiple R3/Systems to one XI?

    Hi,
    is it possible to connect mutiple R3-Systems to one XI?
    How does it work?
    Regards
    Stefan

    Stefan,
    You can certainly connect multiple R/3 systems to one XI.
    1. If your R/3 system release is 4.7 then use point 8 from the configuration guide. (RZ70 transaction collects the system data and creates a technical system in the SLD)
    2. If your R/3 system release is < 4.7 (means 46c or 46B, 40B) then you should create a technical system in the SLD.
    3. For any other SAP product with ABAP stack (including R/3 47 system), you should check the SAP_BASIS release if it is 6.20 you should apply XI Add-on to use XI Proxy adapter. For SAP_BASIS < 620 you cannot have XI Proxy adapter. For SAP_BASIS > 6.20 you do not need any add-ons (from this point onwards it is NetWeaver)
    To find SAP_BASIS release -> SPAM Transaction -> Click on Package Level.
    Then create a business systems for each one of them and import them into the Int. Directory when needed.
    Regards

  • SMSY//Logical component definition - multiple roles for one system?

    Dear all,
    as our client has a divided system landscape (three-tier operational line as well as two-tier development line) some systems have more than one role to fill. The development system on development line is source system for all developments, as well as post-processing system for retrofit purpose from operational line. The maintenance system on operational line is target system for developments from development line, as well as source system for maintenance activities on operational line.
    --> What are the consequences of assigning multiple roles to one system?
    --> Is there anonther option than assigning multiple roles?
    Best regards
    Nick

    We have Event Manger 7.0 installed into a stand-alone SCM 7.0 system. When trying to set this up in SMSY, the only options given for setting up the Logical System is to associate with with EHP3 or EHP4 for in ECC 6.0.
    Obviously we have not installed EM into ECC. So where are the other appropriate entries in SMSY for recognizing that EM is installed in SCM?
    1) This system must be maintained as SCM 7.0 in SMSY and not as SAP ERP 6.0 or EHPX for SAP ERP 6.0, this is the reason as you can see this system SCM 7.0 can be assigned just to SAP ERP 6.0 or EHPX for SAP ERP 6.0.
    2) There's no Main Instance available to be selected when you have a SAP SCM 7.0. You must select one or more of the following main instances below.
    BI Content
    SCM Server
    cFolders on SCM Server
    GEOCODING
    Portal Content
    SAP LiveCache
    SAP NW - Adobe Docu. Service
    SCM Optimizer
    SCM WCL
    XI Content
    These are the main instances available to SCM 7.0

  • Multiple TREX systems with one portal

    Hi all,
    is there any possibility to connect more than one TREX system to a SAP Netweaver portal. Help and all other documents I found always talk about entering the name server into nameserver.address and it seems to me, that this is no multi value field.
    We have a TREX system in place that does all the indexing regarding conten of the portal and connected third party systems. In addition there will be a second TREX system to index our content management system. Of course I know that it is possible to set up multiple hosts within one TREXsystem but the installation guide has several notes that indicate it might not work with the scenario and hardware we are having in place.
    As far as I understand there is no chance to directly address the TREX web server from a portal I always have to go via name server. Any help or hint would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Holger Müller

    I have implemented TREX 7.1 64-bit on a cluster (note that SAP doesn't support this). I have installed the first TREX on server1 and the second in server2. I have to do lot of registry tweaking in Windows sever 2003 to point these guys to the shared SAN storage.
    I am using one as a master and second as a slave. So, I am getting high-availability for both search and also indexing.
    I am using server1 as a primary name server address and server2 as secondary in Visual Administrator. Let me know if you need more info.

  • Connecting to Multiple ECC systems via one Gateway system(Dynamic System Selection)

    Hi Experts,
    We have multiple ECC systems and one Gateway server. We want to connect to these different ECC systems using one GW system.
    I have created System Aliases for these ECC system in GW system. For a service, i added 2 system aliases.
    Now we are looking for the solution where UI can provide the system alias (it wants to connect) as a parameter while calling oData Service.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Rohit

    Hi Rohit,
    we have a similar scenario where we have two system aliases for one service. Both aliases point to the same system, but different clients; it should not make a difference though, having different systems. The feature you are looking for is Multiple Origin Composition (MOC).
    There are a couple of things you have to consider:
    in the SEGW the entity to be called has to be marked as addressable
    the URI of the service needs to include the tag for MOC (;mo) --> http://sapgw.domain.org:8000/sap/opu/odata/sap/ZSOME_SERVICE;mo/entityset
    Without the ;mo the call will be routed to your default alias. The ;mo will route the call to both systems. Using MOC will generate an additional key property into your entities --> SAP__ORIGIN. The property is the alias. If you want to route to a specific system you have to provide the SAP__ORIGIN like providing normal key properties in your requests.
    This will look like this:
    <content type="application/xml">
      <m:properties xmlns:m="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/08/dataservices/metadata" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/08/dataservices">
        <d:SAP__Origin>SOME_ALIAS</d:SAP__Origin>
        <d:Identifier>SOME_IDENTIFIER</d:Identifier>
        <d:Doublet />
      </m:properties>
    </content>
    The original Entity only consists of the key property "Identifier" and the property "Doublet". "SAP__ORIGN" is added via the ;mo.
    Hope it helped...

  • Can there be multiple accounts on one id?

    can there be multiple accounts on one id?

    Unfortunately you can't do the logical and convenient thing of authorizing a computer with multiple Adobe IDs that are active simultaneously.
    You can authorize accounts from different vendors; one account per vendor.
    If you have multiple operating system users set up on the computer,  you can register different OS users as different Adobe Account users.

  • Multiple databases in one file: a small snafu

    Hello everyone,
    Opening multiple databases in a single file is an administrative convenience. It is well explained in the manual (see db/docs/ref/am/opensub.html). Normally, there is little difference between databases in their own physical files or grouped together in a single physical file. There is one small sentence in the manual that says the following:
    (begin fragment)
    However, since multiple databases in a file exist in a single physical file, opening two databases in the same file simultaneously requires locking be enabled unless all of the handles are read-only. As the locks for the two databases can only conflict during page allocation, this additional locking is unlikely to affect performance.
    (end fragment).
    I didn't pay attention to it, except the "unlikely to affect performance" part which told me that I wasn't to worry about it. The sun was shining. Life was good.
    And I was wrong. It was one of those "epic bug quests" I had to embark on, only to realise that it may not be a BDB bug, but my carelessnes. Nevertheless, I'm left with an uneasy feeling which I would like to explain here.
    Consider BDB configured as a concurrent data store.
    There are 2 threads. The first thread has the following pseudocode:
    cursor1 = db1->cursor(...)
    while(cursor1->c_get(... DB_NEXT...))
    // 1
    cursor2 = db2->cursor(...)
    while(cursor2->c_get(... DB_NEXT...))
    The second thread does only the following:
    db3->put(...)
    db1, db2 and db3 are all distinct databases. All cursors are read-only (the cursor implicitly used in db3->put is of course a write cursor).
    While the first thread is running, the second thread executes db3->put(...) at "//1".
    Question: what happens?
    Answer 1: if db1, db2 and db3 reside in different physical files, nothing special happens. Everything proceeds as it should.
    Answer 2: if db1, db2 and db3 reside in the same physical file, both threads block "sometimes".
    The "sometimes" used here means "when the put operation in thread 2 needs to allocate a new page".
    Reading the BDB source code is extraordinarily difficult (which says more about my limitations than about the clarity of the code) but here is what happens, as far as I could determine:
    (thread 1) cursor1 needs and acquires a read lock on db1
    (thread 2) db3->put needs a write lock on db2 to allocate a new page. Since db2 is in the same physical file as db1 and thread 1 already has a read lock, thread 2 waits until the read lock is released. Thread 2 blocks.
    (thread 1) cursor 2 needs a read lock on db3. For some reason, BDB detects that the another thread is waiting for a write lock on the physical file, and thread 1 blocks.
    Both threads block waiting on each other to complete.
    I suppose the system is the way it is to avoid starvation, but there you have it: be careful when you're lumping together multiple databases in one file!
    Anyone who can clarify or confirm this is welcome.
    Vincent

    I had experienced a similar problem. I run multiple process. Each one of them starts a transaction that does db->put and db->pget to its own database (which also has a secondary index). When each database is in a separate physical file there is no problem but when I put all databases in a single file the processes start to dead-lock.
    The following combination of options solved the deadlocking problem:
    - use serializable isolation level instead of snapshot, i.e. do not pass DB_TXN_SNAPSHOT to txn_begin
    - do not pass the DB_NO_WAIT option to txn_begin
    - use Btree instead of a Hash
    Hope that helps.
