Black all around picture in slideshow

I made a slideshow but the pictures are centered with black all around the photo's. I have tried it both standard & widescreen but still the black. How can I make it so it will cover the tv without black?

It sounds like you have selected the 'keep images in TV safe area option' in iDVD.

  • Black Bars Around Picture

Has anyone else noticed black bars around their SD picture recently?
I have a Samsung TV and only subscribe to U-verse 200, not HD. We didn't have any issues before and now the picture has shrunk with big black bars around the edges defeating the purpose of the bigger screens. I'm wondering if the recent UI changes has done something that forces SD users to upgrade to HD packages. Anyone else seeing this?

Keep in mind that if you use the "zoom" feature, you may lose picture quality as the image is artificially made bigger.
Very little as the video processors in the DVR/STB are very good.

  • Why is there a framework black all around the vidéo ?

When I watch the vidéo in full screen, the video don't take the whole screen.
    In 16/9 it doesn't work
    In 4/3 it's worse .

    Just another thought -
In iMovie, go to the menu item iMovie > Preferences. In the General tab, make sure that the preference for "Full-screen playback" is set to "Entire Screen".
The other options for that preference item are -
    Entire Screen - Reduced Resolution
    Actual Size
    Half Size
Maybe you have the preference set as "Half Size" or "Actual Size". If you have imported the clips as Large (960 x 540) and have the preference set as Actual Size, then when viewed full screen it will take up half the screen, both horizontally and vertically - so you will see the video on only one quarter of the screen (assuming your screen is 16:9 1920 x 1080) - hence the large black frame around the video.

  • Black border around all the pictures in my video.

I'm new to the forum here and am struggling to find an answer to my problem and wondering if someone might help me. I am using adobe premiere elements 9 to make a picture slideshow.  I have about 90 pictures, with text on several of them and audio throughout the whole thing.  I don't know this program very well, I've used it one other time to make a video.  When it's all done, I burn it to a dvd.  The problem I'm having is that when I burn it to the dvd and play it back in my dvd player, the pictures are reduced in size and there is a black border around them all (all 4 sides).  Do you know what I can do to make it go away?  The last video I make didn't have it so I'm not sure what I've done with this one.  And I did try compressing the pictures and it didn't change anything.
    Thank you so much!

    Steve,
I actually went through last night and compressed all the pictures to a document size.  Some of them are smaller  (628x439) than 1000 x 750 but some are a little bigger (1024x768).  I noticed as I compressed them in the folder outside of premiere, it also changed them in premiere.  However when I  burnt the new dvd, there was no change.  If I make them smaller (for a website) will that help?  Also, is it something that I would have had to have done before doing the project?  I've already put about 10 hours into this video and really don't want to start it again.
    Bill,
As of right now I have still images and 3 video clips in this presentation, but if it helps I can get rid of the video clips.  I've actually removed them and tried it again, but had no luck.  And I plan on just burning it to a dvd-r disc to watch on the dvd player.  What this project is is I take pictures from the last year of my daughter and make a "birthday video" for her with music and some text on the still images.
Also, should I turn on the scale to default frame size?
I don't know a lot about the video making world, so the verbage kinda goes over my head, but when I began my project I just said ok to whatever it opened it with which says "DSLR-1080p-DSLR [email protected]  I'm now thinking maybe I should have changed the setting, but am at a total loss for what it should be.  Please excuse my ignorance   What I'm wanting to do it just be able to play it on a dvd.
And lastly, I can't even thank you guys enough for helping me!  I'm beyond frustrated and I really appreciate your kindness!

  • Black border around all clips

    Hello
I have a black border around all my clips from one camera even when I set the canvas to "fit to window" I'm having to scale up these clips to 138% to get them in line with other clips in the project. I suspect this may have been an incorrect camera setting but is it possible to fix them all in FCP without having to scale each clip individually?
    Many Thanks
    Adrian

If you get one clip the way you want it, you can copy it, select all the others, right-click, choose "Paste Attributes", and check "Basic Motion".

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

I have reached the same conclusion in the mean time. I have done a bit of investgation in to other grahics cards and am seeing some that show SPDIF connections from the card to the mother board. I was not familar with SPDIF but it did a little bit of sluething. It is of course a digitally enconded voice. I am guessing that in that case the mother board ( assuming it supports this hardware option) would use this output and be able to translate that digital audio to its other audio outputs. That is a lot of guessing of course. I think my "solution" might  be a whole new desktop - a rather drastic course of action! I was in the proceess of getting ready to upgrade this machine anyway with a new graphics card (which I will now return), go to Win 7, and maybe even a new digital TV reciever,  and I don't want to throw good money after bad anyway.
    Thanks for your comments

  • I have these black boxes around all the images i add. why are they there and how do i get rid of them?

i have black boxes around all the images i bring into pages. why are they there and how can i get rid of them?

Pages rememebers the last setting you used on images.
So if you had a border on the last image the next one you bring in will have one too.
    To change that select:
    Inspector > Graphic > Stroke > None
Spend a little time exploring the menus and particularly the Toolbar and Inspectors whcih are in reasonably logical progression from big things down to smaller details and clearly labeled.
It is also possible that you have show Layout on which outlines objects on th screen so you can see what's what. To change that:
Menu > View > Hide Layout

  • Black frame around slides

I like the slideshow option in iDVD, but I would like to stretch the pictures all over my TV screen. Now, there is a large black frame around every slide. Is this possible?

To solve this problem to "iDVD" in the menu and choose "Preferences".
Choose the third tab called "Slideshow", you will get a panel with three checkboxes, uncheck the second ("Adjust dia size to tv-area") to fix the issue.
(The option names and descriptions might be incorrect since we use a Dutch MacOSX version.)

  • Using HD plasma as external display, black border around mac desktop

Hey all, I'm having some difficulty setting up my Panasonic plasma tv as an external display for my Macbook. Whenever I hook up the display I am faced with thick black borders around the mac desktop on the external display. I have messed with the resolution setting for probably 2 hours with no success and the borders persist. I have it hooked up via an hdmi to dvi cable connected to a mini dvi cable. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get it to display full screen on my plasma display without the borders? The displays native resolution is 1024x768, I believe. Any help would be appreciated!

The problem isn't with your mac, it's the settings on the Plasma.
Make sure you are outputting the correct resolution (1024x768 you said), although are you sure the display doesn't want 1366 x 768? That's what mine wants through it's DVI board.
Once that's set, if you have boarder alignment problems then you need to adjust the overscan settings for that input.
If you have a commercial version of the Panasonic it's easy, just use the Picture Pos/Size button on the remote to get to the menu to adjust it. If you have a consumer version Plasma, then ?.. It might be buried in the service menu? I don't know, but once you figure that out you can adjust it. Do a search in avsforum.com for your model number + overscan and you'll find the info you need.

  • Change caption style for all captions in a slideshow?

I'm working on a slideshow that has 111 photos. I had Photoshop Elements 4 add captions, which were already stored with each photo (I had added the captions using different software).
I probably will want to use a pdf file for the output of this slideshow. But I may also simply want to have people view a set of numbered jpg's with captions visible, using something like Windows XP fax and picture viewer.
My problem is that the captions are plain white, without any shadow. Any of my photos that have been rotated have blank white areas to the right and left of the photos. If the caption is wide, it isn't readable on the sides.
I want to change the caption style, probably to use the choice that is white with black shadow around it. I can see a possibility of how to do this one photo at a time, and it seems to take several steps. I'd choose a style, create a new textbox, copy and paste the caption into that textbox, place the textbox where I want it. Even then, I'm not sure how to replace the existing poorly formatted caption.
I'm wishing to avoid repeating that 111 times. Is there any way to just change the caption style? Or to create a macro that will take these steps repeatedly for each slide?
I just watched a tutorial on creating slideshows in Premiere Elements that appears to offer many more options for working with titles and their styles. But I don't think I want this to be a Premiere Elements slideshow. One use of this slideshow will be for people giving presentations, and they may want to move forward manually, so they can talk for a longer or shorter time for each slide.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Harriet

I am willing to stand corrected Harriet, but I don't know that you can.
Having said that you could change the background colour to black or some
other colour that white will show up against like blue... this will
    alleviate the "font colour" problem.
    Cheers

  • Down loaded all my pictures to my laptop and lost all my contacts! help

I wanted to put the picts from my phone on my new non apple laptop. I do not have I tunes on it yet. I plugged my phone in and it asked what I wanted to do, I said import pictures form phone, I did not select to delete after. All the pictures transfered fine. I was looking at the pictures and my phone started making funny noises (beeping lie when yo plug it in) and a small rotating circle in the middle of a black screen (like when yo power it off i think) I unplugged it from my laptop, and it went to my home screen, battery is charged, it had the bar on the top that said to tap to return to phone call. yet there was no phone call to return too. I thought that was odd but no biggie, it was not untill my phone rang and no name showed up fpor my son that Irealized all my contacts were gone form my phone! unfortunatly my old laptop died and I have not backed it up to my new one.  Did it back it self up somehow, and if so where would the data be and how can I restore it. I dont want to install i tunes and have it over write any file and prevent me from being able to recover the data if possible. Any ideas what happened? I looked in my gmail account, the only email account on this lap top and the contacts were not there wither. I have windows outlook, but it is not set up with a email account yet sonce this is a new laptop. I was just sitting down to install everything and now !!!!!

more info, I started going through recent call log and text history and recreating contacts, all is fine and tehn I notice that pictures are showing up with my new contacts, but not the correct pictures, but they are pictures that were asigned to contacts before, but just to different contacts. That leads me to believe that the missing contact info, or parts of it may still be hiding in my phone somewhere,
    Any thoughts?

  • I was trying to update my ipod touch and an error occured. Now it says I'm suppose to connect it to itunes and restore it to it's original settings. That's going to make me lose all my pictures and stuff right?

Okay, while I was updating my ipod an unknown error occured. Now It's telling me I need to connect it to itunes, even though it's plugged in already. And when It does connect it shows up as a generic "ipod".  It doesn't even show my ipod anymore. And it wants me to restore it. It said something around the lines of "restore ipod so it can connect to itunes." Isn't that going to delete all my pictures and stuff? I don't think it saved the reboot from when it was updating!I just want all my settings and stuff back! I don't want to lose all my stuff especially my 2,000 pictures on there! Ugh! Help!

Errors when updating leads to corrupt system files and this may be your problem. If you're using windows, connect your device to PC and run any third party app like Syncios. If it detects, you maybe in luck and try to back-up your data if possible. I hope that it won't and if doesn't, there is no other way to recover files. You should be restoring with iTunes and all data will be erased, or else your device may become unusable.
