It's to enhance the call audio.  While on a call, press the menu key and select Enhance Audio Call. You can change it back to Normal audio.

Not sure what the origin of the problem is, but you should try deleting iDVD's preference files.
First, close iDVD and go to your Home(YourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.idvd.plist
Drag this plist file to the trash. iDVD will automatically create a new fresh one when you reopen it.
    Open iDVD.
See if the main screen is now visible.
Post back if that did not help.

  • Printer aligns BUT only with Black and Blue all other diagnostics print with all colours

Initially when installed the printer REFUSED to align, took 7 attempts (OK I have heard of Einsteins quote !). Each time I used the printer screen to ALIGN PRINTER - the process failed. So I looked on the web, and:
    Cleaned the cartridges,
    Cleared the vents
    Removed and cleaned the printhead
    Prayed
    Tried again
All to no avail, so then I tried doing the diagnostics via the PC software, and here the mystery deepened.
When running the HP Photosmart B210 Series tool box I got three differing results from the three printing options
A Print Quality Diagnostics Page gave me Ba full five colour printout
Align Printheads gave me black and blue lies/boxes/grids and the Alignement Successful message
Print Diagnostic info gave me all four colours with lots of meaningful info including the 73 Print head Calibration COnfidence Level:0
Any Ideas ANYONE, before I bin this and buy a Kodak or Epson in disgust
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

What exactly is the issue?  The alignment aligns the color printhead to black printhead, and only one color (cyan for your printer) and black are needed for that.  (There is likely an additional set of blocks that prints gray blocks fading to white.  This section is used to calibrate the energy for the colors.)  The other test pages you printed will print various diagnostic or test pages which will use all the colors.
A successful alignment page requires the page be printed on unused white paper and requires that the black and cyan sections are printing properly.

  • Wake/Startup is Black and Blue. Kernel Panics?

Hi, Over the last 72 hours my Mac Pro 3.1 has started exhibiting baffling and ever changing behaviour. My boot drives are now a clean boot of 10.6 right off the dvd, and my main drive, which last night was restored from a Time Machine backup, so everything should be nice and clean. The disks have been repaired and permissions corrected from the boot disk and with Onyx.
Essentially these are the problems (They occur on both boot disks):
Wake from sleep does not work. The power light will stop "snoring", but the screen will remain black. I can adjust volume from the keyboard, it's just as though the display isn't woken up (but it stops snoring too) The machine does this on waking, booting or rebooting without any interference.
The kicker is, if I held option to select my boot drive, I'd get video right away and can boot up from either drive. After a couple run throughs, this still works, but the system boots extremely slowly, and hangs with a blue screen for many minutes. A couple times this has reported a kernal panic.
Booting from the SL DVD is very very slow, but normal otherwise.
    UPDATE:
The last time I ran onyx and restarted, the machine booted (slowly and hanging with a blue screen) with video without interference. A small step forward. The inconsistencly leads me to believe it isn't a hardware issue, but I really have no clue. I'm baffled.
    Any help?

Problem isolated...sorry, please see new thread.

  • Black and Blue Screens

I have an A305-s6843 that was fine until last night.  It froze, wouldn't bring up task manger or shut down.  When I did a hard boot, I got a blue screen with "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME."  When I re-booted using repair mode, I got a black screen with a pointer that moves.  Have tried booting from the provided recovery disc and I get a black screen.  Have tried re-formatting and all I get is a black screen.  Any ideas?  I've backed up the important stuff on my hard drive so I'm not really worried about losing data.  I just want my computer back.

If you are really booting from the recovery disk and getting nothing but a black screen, then you have a hardware problem requiring service.  Hope you're still under warranty.

  • Strange black and blue bar and New Tab location bar

Hello, I have a few questions that have stumped me.
[1] For some reason I have a strange black bar between my tabs and my location bar. I thought it might be a border, but I have no idea as I've tried to remove borders on a lot of selectors and still nothing. Then again, I want my tabs off the aero windows-ish part. I've put my tabs below the location bar before, but all that did was make the location bar on the aero windows-ish part for some reason.
[2] How do I change the font-style for the location bar in the new tab? Before you start typing it's in italics and I'd like to make the font-style normal. I haven't got a clue on what selector that would be to fix that.
Here's an image of that strange black bar for question [1]
    http://content.screencast.com/users/ErraticFox/folders/Snagit/media/6eda3571-94f9-489e-b249-935f8af11a51/02.15.2014-19.21.png
Also, here's another picture of another strange blue bar under the location bar.
    http://content.screencast.com/users/ErraticFox/folders/Snagit/media/6eefffb9-0724-479c-80ce-d47245cfd58c/02.15.2014-23.43.png

I don't see how it's a problem with my code, as I don't add borders. I've taken off a border for basically anything I've seen. I even went through my code just now and didn't see anything that effected this. I even tried to had border: 0px !important; to some relevant properties and nothing changed.

  • Why does my fairly new MacBook Pro i7 have a checkerboard pattern in red, black and blue upon startup?

Upon startup my MacBook Pro has a checkerboard pattern running down the right side and along the bottom upon startup.  When I turn it on, the screen goes from black to white to blue and then the sign on screen appears with this pattern.  Sometimes it does not appear at all.  Now it is there everytime I turn on the laptop.  I am able to sign on an then it goes to the customary grey textured screen and I have to sign on again.  Then I finally get to the the desktop area. Does anyone out there know what is going on? It is my first Mac.   It has 10.7.3 OS X,  2.2 GHZ Intel Core i7 processor. Memory- 4GB DDR3. Graphics- AMD Radeon 6750 M and Intel HD 3000 graphics.  Below, a downloaded an image. The white stripes actually are baby blue and white checkers. Please help!

I am also getting the same problem, even i am not be able to login. below is the picture. I sent same picture to Apple authorised service centre but they are not responding and even not answarring my phone call.

  • I've got ipad 4th generation but I can not connect to iTunes .when press video or music it ask me to g iTunes Store when press that the iTunes come up with white page and blue icon saying can connect to iTunes Store .any help please .thanks

I can not connect to iTunes from ipad

This what Apple's iTunes specific error codes support article says about that particular error.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • Black and white and coulored icons in Gnome3 title bar

    Hello all,
I wonder about icons in the Gnome3 title bar. I did'nt changed any related settings.
I have an up to date physical installation and an up to date Virtual Box with beautiful black and white icons:
Today I upgraded a clone of the Virtual Box machine. This machine was not updated since months. The icons are colored now.
I thought all up to date installations should have the same theme and icons. Just for know, why they are different and where can I fix it?

Don't export it as a .jpeg which is unsuitable for B&W images, blurring them as rgb files (not B&W).
Better is .tiff (compressed B&W tiff are tiny) or 1 bit .gif.
It is also possible that .pdf vector files might work but I haven't experimented with those.

This is very retro lo-tech with unattractive results, which is why I guess Apple hasn't bothered with them.

  • Black and White photo with splash of color

I just bought photoshop elements yesterday. I'm completely new to this and I want to know how to make a photo turn b/w, but keep a point of color,ex: a red hair bow but everything else b/w.

Another way is to create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer over your photo. (It's one of the choices that is found on your layer's pallet under the black and white icon.) This will create an adjustment that can be masked.
Double click the adjustment layer with "Master" selected and move the saturation slider to -100. Once this is done you can use the paint brush to paint back color. (Black hides the adjustment; white reveals the adjustment; shades of gray provide a partial adjustment.)
I think the mask option is preferable to using the eraser because you can easily go back and refine the image if you make a mistake. It also gives you the opportunity to change your mind without having to start from scratch. Another advantage is that your image will have a smaller file size.
You can also use filters that work in gray scale on the mask. One useful one is Gaussian Blur. I like to paint my selection edges with a hard edged brush then soften (feather) the edges with the Gaussian filter. The Maximum and Minimum filters are useful if you need to expand or contract the mask edge a little.
If you want to have more control over the black and white adjustment, use the pull down menu in the Hue/Saturation adjustment dialog to select each color; reduce each of the colors to -100 Saturation; then go back and adjust the "lightness" slider of each color to taste.

  • Can FCP Black and Code HDV tapes?

(Reposted from the FCP Express forum)
    I'm running FCP Studio 5.0.4.
I'm trying to stripe some HDV tapes for an upcoming shoot. I've set up a project using the 1080i60 Easy Setup. I have my Sony FX-1 set to HDV record mode and HDV input. When I go to Edit to Tape and hit the Black and Code icon, a dialogue box pops up giving me a dropdown menu from which I can choose the 1080i60 setting.
After the warning that I'm about to erase the tape with black and timecode, I hit OK and a status bar pops up saying it's 'Conforming HDV Video.'
All that is what I'd expect, but the estimated time for it to do this is 10 hours! I let it run for about 15 minutes just to see if that would change, but it looks as though it really would be that long. The status bar counted up to 1% complete during that time. That seems way too long to wait to stripe a tape.
I also tested doing this with Print to Video. I created an hour long sequence and filled it with slug. The same message popped up...only the estimated time was now 3 hours. Better...but not reasonable just to stripe a tape.
    Any thoughts?
Other than the inevitable argument over striping tapes, I mean? : )

Its always been about a 50/50 chance of the previous footage cutting through frames of the new video when I have done this, so I never overwrite. Would overwriting black video be a safer bet?
And so the argument begins... Black is previous video whether it comes from a deck via edit system or a capped camera... either way is the same, you are laying down something that you are going to erase!!!!! If you have a break between takes, something is going to bleed through. The only reason you need a stripped tape is for insert editing.
That's why the recommendation is to not bother blacking tapes for shooting. Instead, take the time to ensure that you follow proper shooting practices that will avoid time code breaks.
As for re-using tapes... (that is essentially what you do when you black a tape before use.) Tape is cheap, why risk your money and rep by re-using tape.
