Black and gray box keeps popping up on my monitor and I cant get it to stay off

Black and gray box pops up on my monitor. Cant move my mouse over it. Cant remove it. It just recently started doing this. I know it has to do with the settings on my monitor, but im not sure how to set it. When I tried, it would go off for a few minutes and then pop right back up. I want to try to set it so that it wont keep appearing. I would aappreciate any suggestions, as im not good at figuring out this sort of thing. Thanks, Mary
My monitor is a wide screen HPw2338h

Could you perhaps describe this "black and gray box" better?  Does it have any text?

  • HT1212 I've done the steps above and a box keeps popping up that says your iPhone is locked! Duh

I've done all the steps to reset the iPhone 4, acts like it is working then 23 minutes into it a box pops up saying your iPhone is locked

Not really. Photoshop, Numbers however I do have 3 browsers running with a number of active windows.
I'm beginning to think this is a Firefox issue. Activity Monitor is showing Firefox as the largest use of memory at 2.57GB (I'm on my MacPro currently) with nothing else even close to that. 6 FF windows open.
One of my designers has just told me that he's been having the issue for a couple of weeks on his iMac too. He's concluded the same about FF and instead of leaving windows open overnight he's been quiting FF altogether in the evening and has not had the issue in the morning when he wakes his machine. (That's when it's been happening on both of mine, in the morning after leaving FF running overnight).

  • Download dialogue boxes keep popping up in FF 26 and 27. I've reset and cleared all cache items as recommended here. I have screenshots. Any ideas?

I've also run malwarebytes and Super anti spyware.
These (screenshots) show about somewhat randomly while websurfing.

  • Windows Help and Support Message box keeps popping up

I am not really sure what happened but my keyboard stopped working.  It kept typing out random letters and not the ones I typed.   At the same this "Windows Help and Support" box started popping up.  So, I can't use my keyboard but the pop up window keeps interuping Netflix and vidoes and I can't watch them and  Word documents.  Pretty much anything I do gets interupted by this box and stops whatever I am trying to which is trying to build a website at the moment.
I uninstalled the support.   It no longer appears in my program list but the box still keeping popping up and stopping everything I am doing.
What I am suppose to do?  It doesn't say its the HP Support it says "Windows Help and Support" at the top of the box.
    I have tried everything.

    Hey @c4yp ,

You installed a variant of the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
This malware has many variants. Anyone else finding this comment should not expect it to be applicable.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.2c232f1e4d12129e.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.2c232f1e4d12129e.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.2c232f1e4d12129e.helper.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/2c232f1e4d12129e
    /System/Library/Frameworks/v.framework
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

the find/change box keeps popping up off the screen. Rebooted and screen is fine, box is not

Is it visible at all? If so, drag it to a new location, hit the "Done" button to close, close your document and launch InDesign again. By the way, are you on OSX or Windows? I'm on OSX and that works for me. My InDesign version is CS6. Hope this helps.
    Cheers!

  • A box keeps popping up tel available for application memory. What does this mean? It lists Firefoc, Safari Mail, Pages and Finder.

A box keeps popping up on my MacBook telling me that my Mac OS X Startup disk has no more space available for application memory. It shows Firefox, Mac Mail, Finder and Pages. What does this mean? Thanks. Jessie

  • A message keeps popping up saying JavaScript Application and under it uninstal set. How can I get rid of it?

The box keeps popping up every time I bring up a new page or refresh a page, saying at the top JavaScript Application and at the bottom uninstal set. Don't know how to get rid of it. Can someone help me?

I had this problem too, drove me crazy until my son figured out that it was just Firefox (we also use Internet Explorer)...I looked on the help site & immediately saw that others had the same problem.
First I did the "DISABLE Java Console 6.0.22" that did not work, so I disabled the Yahoo toolbar (as another user had mentioned). I don't know if it was just the last thing, or both...but the annoying pop up is gone! Yaaay! It only took a few minutes.
Firefox Help is great! Thanks to those who post their fix, it does help the rest of us!

  • HELP!  Exporting pdf issues - no email links and gray boxes around text

I'm a newbie to indesign, and trying to learn the program as I go.  I need to export my pdf for onscreen viewing.  When I "print" it works, but I get no email links, and those annoying white lines here and there.  I read that exporting would solve the email link issue, but it opened another can of worms for my project.  Now all my graphics have black or gray boxes across them, almost like censor boxes.  But my email links work.
Learning Adobe is like learning a new language, and I have far from mastered it.  So when I exported, I used the lowest resolution presets, assuming it knew what worked better than I did.  After dozens of unsuccessful exports, can someone please help??
Also, I've been reading posts that say to convert all spots to color to resolve the white line issue.  But it's grayed out in the ink manager.  What is the secret to unlock it?
    Thank you!!

Thank you for any and all help!
I have CS5.5, running on windows 7.  It is up to date as of 1 month ago.  Here's a sample of my problem pages.  Also, a screen shot of what it should look like.  My guess is it has something to do with the transparencies, since it's 2+ layers of embossed objects.  If I export in Acrobat 4 (1.3) these boxes don't happen. But then I get the thin white lines across my graphics, and no email links.  As for spot colors, I confess complete ignorance on all color issues,  but  I'm trying to learn as I go.  How can I export this correctly?

  • I have a box keep popping up saying JavaScriptApplication uninstal set can you tell me what that mean?

I have a box keep popping up every time I go to a different page saying Java Script Application uninstal set. What can I do to stop it?

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
