Black and white and part color

Can you, on Photoshop elemetns 5, do part black and white picture and change one thing into color? If you can, what is an easy to follow way to do so.
Thanks

Hi Sue
<br />
<br />Check the example below... after you open a Hue/saturation adjustment layer at the top of the pallet, move the saturation slider to the left then press OK.
<br />
<br />Now set your foreground color to black... pick a soft brush.. and CLICK with your mouse on the attached mask to make it active... see example.
<br />
<br />When you paint with black on your picture the color will show.... if you show too much just switch your brush color to white and where you paint the color will be hidden

Do you think that apple would exchange my ipod gen 5 for another one because this one well, the screen isn't broken but the inside is half black and other colors? If covered by warranty. See:
Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage
Then if the iPod is within warranty, not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost. You can do it at an Apple store

  • Apple tv gen 1 only shows logo and black and multi colored stripes

My ATV sarts up with all the normal music sound however the screen only displays the apple logo with a background of horizontal black and multicolor strips. The strips about 1/2" wide are set in three sections across the screen.  The center section strips are offset by one strip from the two end sets.
Is this a video board issue or something else?

Sounds like a graphics failure to me, but I suppose it could be the HDMI cable. Try a different cable and try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, but I fear the worst.

  • How to make photo part B&W and part color

Anyone know how to do this with either Photo Shop Elements or CS2?

    Mark:
Yes, it's fairly easy to do. This is for PS but it'll be similar in PSE except the desaturation function is under the Enhance->Adjust Color menu selection (this is in PSE2. Later versions may be different).
1 - select the area you want to remain in color either with the magic wand, lasso or other means.
2 - in the Select menu choose Inverse.
3 - go to the Image->Adjustments menu and select the Desaturate option.
If you have several non-contiguous areas you want to remain in color you'll need to have each of them selected before performing the desaturation function. I always duplicate the base layer and do my editing on it because when I screw up I only have to remove that layer and make a duplicate instead of closing the file w/o saving and reopening. Saves me lots of time.

  • Yosemite load bar color changes / from black to white

    Hello there,
is anyone experiencing the same as me?
When booting my MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012 the load bar color changes from black to white. The color change happens as the keyboard background lights turn on. After this I get to the login screen with the blurred desktop background image (seems normal)
    Video: https://vid.me/hOX
    (sorry for the vertical video)
I know that the load bar is a feature of Yosemite, but not with the color changes.
I did a clean install of OS X Yosemite with the AppStore download and the Diskmaker X Tool.
    Thanks for answers...

    No
With a very advanced photo editor like PhotoShop and lots of skill you could do that
It is certainly not a simple operation if it is just a B&W image with no color information

  • How do I make one part of a picture black and white and rest color?

I am working on new campaign for Vi-spring orange county. I need to take a photograph of a woman with a bare back sitting on a mattress and make part of the picture in black and white and the other part in color. I then need to insert an outline of a spine on top in a bright color. I would really appreciate some help on how to start.

I think what we need is a little more information.
When you say you want to make part of the image black and white, do you want to make certain areas of the image black and white or just do away with certain colors in the photo. You can do a selective color and get rid of all but one color ie. A red rose in a green field, take out all the green in the image and the red in the rose is the only thing that has color. Or you can take out one color and leave the rest of the colors in, so basically the oppsite of what I just explained.
If you want certain sections of a image black and white ie. a room with a bed in it make the whole room black and white and keep the bed in color...you need to look into masking.
If you want to do masking I can find you a tutorial for it, but I need to know if i'm on the right track.

  • Printing part color and part black and white

    Hello Everyone,
I am wondering if you happen to know how to print part of the page color and part black and white. In other words, what I am looking to do is print a page, and be able to select how much of it is with color ink, and how much of it is just with black ink. Is there a way to do this? Even if its just choosing a half page to be one or the other.
Any info in regards to this would be great.
    Thanks

My post was not to specifically discourage you from posting in this forum. It was to point you to a better forum that would yield more relevant answers. If you choose to post in this general print design forum, you may need to be a little less general with your question.

  • How do I get the color of the address, in the address box, to be all black on white, and not part of it to be gray on white, and part to be black on white?

Right now, the address line in my address box, at the top of the page, begins "https://support", all in light gray, followed by "mozilla.com", in black, followed by "/en-US/questions/new?product=.......etc.", all in light gray on a white backround, so it is almost unreadable. Why did this start happening, and how do I change this, so that the address is all black on white, and not half gray and half black?

You can set the pref <b>browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled</b> to <i>false</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

  • How to get AirPrint on iOS to print color documents in black and white?

I use iOS 6.0.1 and I use AirPrint on my iphone4s to print documents wirelessly to my printer. The problem is that if the document that I am printing has ANY color on it at all, the printer will print that part in color. Sometimes I actually want the document in black and white only. But AirPrint doesn't give us the option to do this , like OS X for Mac does.
Color ink is way too expensive to just be using "willy-nilly".
Apple , give us a black and white option on AirPrint !
Anyone know any ways around this until Apple updates iOS ?

It might be a problem with your printer's color profile. Did you try to set the color profile in the print dialogue to "black and white" (choose: "more options" in the print panel) ?

  • PSE 8 coloring a black and white image

Okay, so I downloaded a free trial of PSE 8, so my experience with it is limited, which may contribute to my problem. I've watched tutorials on how to add color to a black and white photo using the paintbrush tool, though I haven't watched one for PSE 8.
I'll make a new layer, paint part of the picture, and then add another layer. But when I click a different color to paint with, it changes the color of what I already painted, even though I'm on a different layer.
Also when I tried to just save the image with one part painted, it didn't save it, and the image looked as it did originally.
    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi,
Are you using the right tool to paint on a layer?
For coloring a black and white image, you need to save different areas of your image on a different layer and then use either Paint brush or a Paint bucket tool.
It seems that you are selecting a wrong tool. For selecting Brush, press B.
Then try painting on one part of the image and then go to the the color swatch present at the end of the tools panel on the left as :
Now click on the foreground color swatch(on the top) to change the color with which you want to paint. This will not change the color of other layers on changing the color.
    Cheers

OK, but still, they built the poorly made HP drivers in their OS.
Ah, no. They published the only drivers HP gave them. If they didn't publish them, then Mac users would be unable to use HP devices at all, except for those devices supported by 3rd parties such as Gutenprint and the HPIJS Project. HP is solely responsible for the state of their drivers. And it's not just Mac drivers which are bad; a lot of Windows drivers stink, too. HP simply has a problem writing drivers. For the most part they have excellent hardware, but truly terrible software.

  • Mixing Black and White effects and color to one picture in iPhoto

is there any way to combine these to effects to have part of a picture black and white and another part color?

No, not with iPhoto. You'll need a 3rd party application like Photoshop Elements which can select areas in a photo and desaturate it, leaving the rest in color like this. This is another example of what you can do with it.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Colorizing black-and-white comic strips

I have here scans of black-and-white comic pages
which I would like to colorize.
How can I do this with Photoshop Elements?
(I gues I have to make the white parts transparent first
and then add a layer for the coloring behind the
    black-and-white layer. But how?)
(At the moment I'm using version 6.0 for Mac.)
    Thanks.

Not sure that I understand the fine points being developed here.
As I see it, the points to take note of are these:
The best method for making coloured comic illustrations is to use a vector program, which will give smooth sharp-edged lines.  Bitmap programs use anti-aliasing to provide the appearance of a smooth line, but this means that you have black lines edged with gray:
This becomes apparent when you create the fill layers and their masks:
By using the layers and masks, you quickly ensure that the anti-aliased areas are filled with the chosen colour:
By keeping the coloured areas on their own layers, you gain the ability to easily edit them.  This comes in real handy if you want to change an area from a flat colour to one with shaded colours to give a sense of depth.  You create a hue/saturation layer as a clipping mask for the appropriate layer, and you don't have to worry about colouring within the lines!

    Hello,
I have an image that is black and white, and I want to color parts of it with a brush. However, when I try to change the color, it won't change -- it jsut changes to a different shade of grey! What can I do?
