Black Area taking over screen

So whenever I press play in logic express this huge black area takes over the screen behind the play head and moves along with the playhead. I don't know what to do to get rid of this huge black/dark display.

It's virtually the same program these days.
It would help if the OP posted the version he/she was using and what updates are installed.

  • Fan and Sleep mode are taking over!

I have read through many of the posts, but my problem still appears slightly different.
My computer will start up normal and the fan will be running silently and then get increasingly loud (like a plane taking off). Then, if more than one or two windows are open (with the fan still racing) the computer will put itself to sleep. I will click on the mouse and the computer will wake up for maybe 5 seconds before sleeping again, until finallly I just have to shut it off and leave it for a bit. The computer does not seem hot at all, either.
Is this the midplane power thing? (the serial number does fall within the range) Or is it something else?
I have noticed that the computer will most often fall asleep when Internet Explorer is running. Could this also be part of the problem?
    iMac G5

After discussing Apples with friends, it is apparent that the iMac has a strong will for survival. It knows when bad things are happening and will shut down, cool off or stall, all to save itself, which is a good thing.
So, yes I think you have a hardware problem, you will need info like, when did this start, how long it's been going on, new software, new hardware, new preferences etc etc etc... Good Luck, Rick

  • My purchased movies are taking over an hour to load.  Why?

Apple TV is telling me (suddenly) that my purchased movies will take over an hour to load and play.  This literally started happening 10 minutes into a movie.  It's never taken more than 10 seconds to load in the past.  My internet connection is up and working normally.  Why would this start happening so suddenly?

Power cycle the ATV and router then try again.

  • ICMXX.tmp Files Are Taking Over My Temp Folder

When I open and close Lightroom, a new file of the format ICMXX.tmp where XX=hexadecimal number appears in my "C:\Documents and Settings\**User Name**\Local Settings\Temp" folder. Sometimes LR cleans them up, sometimes not. They are small, 1-4k size files, but I'm up to 15 so far. Anyone else collecting these in WinXP?

Yes, they're there, but my temp directory is about 300 megabytes, and the LR stuff is a minuscule fraction of that. I frankly don't see it as a problem.

  • Help required urgently - Errors are taking over

So I went to the Apple store in Exeter (UK) to have my 3rd iPhone swapped as it had yet another problem. As usual they swapped it for another one with out to much issue.
I left the store and first I got a 'no service' issue. Then the phone started to crash. I went straight back to the store and they updated the firmware to 2.1 and they though the 'no service' might be resolved after a few hours when O2 (the UK service provider) updated their computer systems with the new the serial number of my new phone.
I went home and hooked it up to itunes. iPhone crashed. I did a restore as a new phone. Then the real problems started. I have been getting the following error messages.
    - Attempting to copy the disk "Thomo's iphone" failed device not connected.
    -Phone reset itself
    - itunes could not connect to the iphone because an invalid response was recieved from the device.
also had an error message with the code " OXE8000035 "
So far the best I have been able to do is reset the phone and sync about 4GB of data then it crashes.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

PS: I've also tried to sync without the sim in but still no joy. When the phone is not crashing every thing else (ipod, cal, setting etc. all work ok)

The Mid 2010 15-inch MacBook Pro problems are related to kernel panics, so the GPU is still working. In the case of the OP, the GPU has stopped working completely, so his/her problem doesn't belong to the kernel panic problem, so the OP may have to pay. I may be wrong.
Also, the 10.8.4 update won't help as this is a hardware problem, but it's always good to keep OS X updated

The first time I synced my iphone 4 with my mac, I didn't realize that all of my photos from the iphoto library would transfer over to the phone (more than 3,000).   Now, I need to remove some, as they are taking up too much space.  I cannot figure out how to remove them from the phone.  I tried to uncheck boxes and sync again, but I get a message that there is no room on the iphone.  I've read as many articles as I can find, but still cannot manage this.  Thanks for any help.

Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want, sync

I had restored my iPhone 5 to factory settings and that cleared the problematic "Other" problem.  Flash forward a couple weeks and the problem has once again resurfaced.
I tried updating iTunes and iOS to the newest versions and the problem still persists.
I'm officially ready to switch to Windows Phone or Android now...
    *edit*
A Google search with results restricted to the last month shows that this problem seems to be becoming more and more common.

  • Replacement screen shows all Blacks are instead, Super-Blue's!

My original Dv7-3065dx screen went blank with the back-light still going. Every so often, it would work for a second, then go blank again. so i changed the cable and screen. The new screen worked, except now all the blacks, are super blue! So, of course i thought i got a bad screen, so got another one, but this time it seemed even worse! Upon turning it on, the windows symbol, even steaked blue across the screen, then same thing, all blacks, super blue!
I do want to mention, just in case, the fact that i purchased after market screen, from Amazon, for like $85, that had a converter cable on the back running from the left side connect to the right side connect, so i could connect on the right side.
Could these cables on the back of the aftermarket screens be causing this super blue problem?
I have check connections, to make sure it is pluged in like it should be.
    External monitor works fine.
Also, i have already dissassembled the entire laptop, and cleaned the fan and re-thermo'ed the cpu! Runs alot cooler, screen works, but all the blacks, are still super blue, with occasional blank screen period.
    What's next?
    Anyone?

OK!!!!!!!!!!!!      I got my 3rd screen in today, from the site you told me about. I got the one w/o the converter cable on the back of it. AND GUESS WHAT?????????????? IT FRICKIN WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    AMAZON SELLS CRAP FOR SCREENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I almost kept the 2nd screen, because i thought there was no way it could be both screens, BUT IT FRICKIN WAS!
Sorry for all the caps and !!!!!!!!!!!!, but i am happy and pissed at the same time, because of the headache AMAZON caused me!
Anyway, i am hoping you also tried the one with the cable on the back, so if you did, your problem should be fixed with this also!
    Let me know.

  • Red Snow on black areas of the LCD screen

    Hello,
last week my MacBook Pro 13" fell on the floor and got a hit on the side of the LCD screen.
Now the LCD screen is showing a sort of red snow (like the snow on an untuned tv) on the black parts of the screen. As far as I can understand it's either an issue of the LCD, the motherboard or the cables between the motherboard and the LCD.
What do you think it could be? I am going to order the parts in order to do the repair myself but I want to be reasonably confident of what I need to replace.
    Cheers
    /Luca

The disassembly procedure is different according to the MacBook model you have. There are many guides around that you can consult in order to open the machine. You can search with "MacBook disassembly" and you will find many pages. I found mine on ifixit.com.
On a unibody MacBook pro you have only to remove the screws on the bottom (remembering the positions as few of them are different), and lift the bottom cover.
You will find a miniature flat cable on one of the corners of the motherboard. Just gently push it in the connector to make sure it is well attached. Important! make sure you have a static wrist strap connected to ground, or in alternative touch a ground connection before in order to get rid of any static you might have on your body.
    Hope this helps

  • Can't get past the are you over 15 screen

As a first time user I bought a season 2 pass game of thrones but can't get past screen asking if over 15 - screens keep revolving from episode 1 with highlighted play button to are you over 15.  Frustrating to say the least, hate apple tv already. Any suggestions to fix please?

    Hello Robin,
The first important thing to find out will be, if this is a hardware or a software issue.
I would first request you to run a test on the Hard drive. You can do this test from the BIOS.
    Steps:
    1: Shutdown the computer
2: Turn the computer back on and start tapping the F10 Key on the keyboard. This will allow you to enter the BIOS page
3: You will have diagnostics under which you can run a short and long test on the HDD. Run both the test and see if the test passes or fails.
4: If the test fails there is an issue with the Hard drive and the drive needs to be replaced. If the test passes then its an issue with the Software on the computer
If you have not deleated any partition on the computer or changed the operating system, you will have the HP Recovery option available
    Steps:
    1: Shutdown the computer
2: Restart the computer and keep tapping the F11 key. This will allow you to enter the HP Recovery manager page.
From here you can do a complete recovery of the computer
Note: Recovery will erase all the data on the computer.
If the recovery partition is not available, you can contact HP and request for a recovery disc
