Black bars around my screen.

I have recently gotten adobe premiere, and after effects. Everytime I export there is a black bar around the screen. http://us.toshiba.com/video-electronics/camcorders/camileo-x100/ That is the camera link , and it is 1080p 30fps. thank you in advance.Btw it is .avi.

We need to know what your composition settings are. If you create your compositions by dragging the footage into the New Composition icon icon at the bottom of AE's project window you should not get black bars. If you're getting a 2 or 3 pixel black bar in your footage that is probably normal. Cameras don't necessarily fill up every pixel.
A screenshot wold help a lot.

  • ST2421L, black bars around image suddenly appeared

This is a real puzzler. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, my ST2421L monitor displayed black bars around the screen image (doesn't matter if it is the desktop or a browser or MS Word). Seriously, when I started work in the morning, everything was normal. I blinked and then there were black bars. I've done some searching at the support forums and one suggestion was to install something called AMD Catalyst Suite. When I tried to do that, it ran and then the dreaded blue screen appeared. Using control panel, I checked to see if Windows felt the drivers for the monitor were up to date and they were. I've also gone through the factory reset via the OSD, unplugged the monitor's power and its HDMI cable, etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thank you, Chris. When I do that, I see the panel below. Note how it says the best driver is "win7_32_"  When I attempt a download, I eventually see an error message saying I have a 64 bit system and that driver is the wrong one and the process aborts. Any ideas?  And thanks!

  • Black bars around my youtube video - 16:9 issue?

    final cut 10.0.5
Rookie here, I have created a FCut video using video shot on my Canon Gl-2, and exported it to put it on youtube.
I simply use the Export Media window and choose default setting to go to quicktime.
Problem is that the youtube video has the black bars around the entire video.
How can I export this thing to youtube and get my face full screen?
I know it has something to do with the format 4:3, 16:9, etc. But can't find any settings for this and the Help menu *****.
Here is the youtube video with black bars:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVvMfL-olKM
    THANKS, Pros!

The GL-2 shot 4:3. YT displays everything within a 16:9 frame. If you had shot one of the 16:9 resolutions, it would have filled the frame.
If you want to have FCP automatically fill the frame, in the Inspector>Video, choose Fill for Spatial Conform. The image will be zoomed. After you do that, check the framing to see whether it's acceptable.
Many (maybe most) people disagree with this, but I personally prefer the bars because it maintains the integrity of the original framing,
BTW, why are you on 10.0.5? Many serious improvements since.

  • Black Bars Around Picture

Has anyone else noticed black bars around their SD picture recently?
I have a Samsung TV and only subscribe to U-verse 200, not HD. We didn't have any issues before and now the picture has shrunk with big black bars around the edges defeating the purpose of the bigger screens. I'm wondering if the recent UI changes has done something that forces SD users to upgrade to HD packages. Anyone else seeing this?

Keep in mind that if you use the "zoom" feature, you may lose picture quality as the image is artificially made bigger.
Very little as the video processors in the DVR/STB are very good.

I have an iPhone 5 and just recently when I opened the camera there is a big black border around the screen causing the picture itself frame to be smaller I don't know what I did to cause this or what I can do to make it go away can anyone help/

First off, try a reset of the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, see if the problem persists.

  • Black bars around video in premiere 10

When I upload a video, there seems to be black bars around it.  How do I fix it?

    Qualick
    Thanks for the reply.
When you open a project, you or the project needs to set a project preset to match the properties of your source file that you are going to import into the project.
You need a match between the project preset and the properties of the source so that the project is directed to set up the
correct space for editing in the Edit area monitor. Unless you can settle for black borders, you need
to make a match between project settings and source media properties.
There is no 1280 x 600 pixels project preset in Premiere Elements - video is typically 4:3 or 16:9. 1280 x 600 is neither.
    Some possibilities...
    a. You could record your images to 1280 x 720 16:9
    b. You could import your 1280 x 600 video into a 1280 x 720 project with 1280 x 720 Edit area monitor space and then scale (zoom in) the image until
it fills the Edit area Space without black borders.
Can you alter your recording settings so the your recording is either 4:3 or 16:9 video?
When you get to exporting your Timeline content, you have more flexibility in the export settings.
Please let me know what the requirements are for your export of your Timeline with this 1280 x 600 video.
    Thanks.

  • IPhoto adds ugly black border around imported screen grabs

When I grab a picture of an application screen (using cmd + shift + 4 and then hitting the space bar over the application), I get a screen grab that opens fine in Preview, but when I drag/import it to iPhoto, it adds an ugly thick black border around the whole picture. Why? Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Missed the Command....... I have used that command and don't get the border except when viewing the file as an thumbnail in the Finder.
Do you have a MMe account? If so upload the screenshot file to the Pictures folder and use the following code to add it to a post:
You'll get this: Click to View Photo. It's a screenshot of the screenshot and it's presentation in Safari.
So, I can see immediately from the photo in the link above that you have not used the key combi I am talking about - was that intentional?
Anyway, here's the link, and you can quite clearly see the drop shadow.

  • I get every time after rendering four black bars around the video, I would like to fix this because it is not really professional.

sorry for my poor english, I have a problem with adobe premiere elements 12 when I render I get a video black bars on all sides of the screen, which makes the video smaller. How do I fix this?

Are you OK with translating the language English to Dutch? Have you been using the Translate button at the bottom right of the posts to translate what is written in English to Nederlands (Dutch)? Is the major problem that you cannot find the locations that I point to in Premiere Elements?
    1. What are the properties of the video that you are putting on the Timeline? The quick way to find this
information is knowing brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video on the Timeline.
From this question I am trying to find out what the properties are for your video - video compression, audio compression, frame size, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio. I was hoping that you could tell me the brand/model/settings of the camera recording the video so that I could find the information myself.
    2. What are you setting (manually) or the project (automatically) as the project preset that will match
the properties of the video that you are importing? If you do not know, then tell us what you see under
Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readouts for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel
Aspect Ratio, even if the fields look grayed out.
Besides knowing the properties of your video, it is just as important to know the project settings. Are you setting them yourself or just dragging the video to the Timeline and letting the project set the project preset automatically? If you are doing nothing, then the answer is that the project is doing the setting automatically.
Either way, you can find out what is being set by going to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and looking for the reading that you see in the following screenshot.
    3. The next big question is "What do you mean by rendering?"
Do you see these black borders after you render the Timeline content in the Edit area to get the best
possible preview of what you are seeing in the Edit area monitor?
    or
Do you see these black borders after you go to Publish+Share/ and export the Timeline video?
If your "rendering" refers to the export of the Timeline, please tell us Publish+Share/and then what?
This question 3 should not need a screenshot. The question is where are you seeing the black border in your video.
    a. When you are in the Edit Area of the program and you press the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or the Render
    button above the Timeline.
    or
    b. After you have exported your Timeline using Publish+Share/ and one of the export paths.
Please see if any of the above helps. If it does not, then let us try this. In Dutch if you want, describe in your own words
what you are doing in much more detail and post screenshots of the areas involved on your Premiere Elements 12.
Then I will deal with interpreting what you wrote.
We want you to succeed. So whatever way works, that is the way to go.
The answers are in the details.
    Thank you.

  • IPhone black bars around video

I just learned that in order to remove the black bars from a video taken on the iPhone 4 you must take the video by holding the phone sideways (landscape) rather than upright (portrait).  I wish I would have know this sooner because I already have taken several videos in portrait mode and have these ugly black bars on both sides of my video.  Right now the video looks thin with most of the screen taken up by the black bars on both sides.  Is there anyway I can remove these black bars in the video that I have already taken?  I can't retake the video since the job is complete so I really need these to work.  I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 for my video editing.  Thank you!
