Black border around all clips

Hello
I have a black border around all my clips from one camera even when I set the canvas to "fit to window" I'm having to scale up these clips to 138% to get them in line with other clips in the project. I suspect this may have been an incorrect camera setting but is it possible to fix them all in FCP without having to scale each clip individually?
Many Thanks
Adrian

If you get one clip the way you want it, you can copy it, select all the others, right-click, choose "Paste Attributes", and check "Basic Motion".

  • Black border around all the pictures in my video.

I'm new to the forum here and am struggling to find an answer to my problem and wondering if someone might help me. I am using adobe premiere elements 9 to make a picture slideshow.  I have about 90 pictures, with text on several of them and audio throughout the whole thing.  I don't know this program very well, I've used it one other time to make a video.  When it's all done, I burn it to a dvd.  The problem I'm having is that when I burn it to the dvd and play it back in my dvd player, the pictures are reduced in size and there is a black border around them all (all 4 sides).  Do you know what I can do to make it go away?  The last video I make didn't have it so I'm not sure what I've done with this one.  And I did try compressing the pictures and it didn't change anything.
    Thank you so much!

    Steve,
I actually went through last night and compressed all the pictures to a document size.  Some of them are smaller  (628x439) than 1000 x 750 but some are a little bigger (1024x768).  I noticed as I compressed them in the folder outside of premiere, it also changed them in premiere.  However when I  burnt the new dvd, there was no change.  If I make them smaller (for a website) will that help?  Also, is it something that I would have had to have done before doing the project?  I've already put about 10 hours into this video and really don't want to start it again.
    Bill,
As of right now I have still images and 3 video clips in this presentation, but if it helps I can get rid of the video clips.  I've actually removed them and tried it again, but had no luck.  And I plan on just burning it to a dvd-r disc to watch on the dvd player.  What this project is is I take pictures from the last year of my daughter and make a "birthday video" for her with music and some text on the still images.
Also, should I turn on the scale to default frame size?
I don't know a lot about the video making world, so the verbage kinda goes over my head, but when I began my project I just said ok to whatever it opened it with which says "DSLR-1080p-DSLR [email protected]  I'm now thinking maybe I should have changed the setting, but am at a total loss for what it should be.  Please excuse my ignorance   What I'm wanting to do it just be able to play it on a dvd.
And lastly, I can't even thank you guys enough for helping me!  I'm beyond frustrated and I really appreciate your kindness!

  • How to remove black border around image files?

I'm something of a beginner with Photoshop, so forgive me if I've missed something entirely obvious: for some strange reason I'm now getting a black border around all image files that I save through the "Save for Web & Devices" panel. Does anyone know how I can save without creating this border? It looks rather unsightly when I load it into a client site. The file in question is a .png, but I seem to be getting the same effect with all other image files as well.
    Thanks in advance,
    Shane

One cause could be having the matte color set to something other than none.
    Is that a png-8?

  • Black border around an inset clip?

I've done a movie with a little inset clip on the bottom left (comes in after about 5s).
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gB7oiBo1v0M
I want to put a black border around the inset clip - as can be seen I've done this (I know I need to remove the drop shadow).
But the vertical border on the left is narrower in width than the horizontal border across the top.
I've seen another movie by someone else where all the borders are the same width.
Just wondering how to do this as I couldn't see relevant controls in the generator's inspector..
I used the Shapes generator, btw. Set to rectangle, no fill, black border.
It's a bit of a fiddly process getting it to fit - is there a better way?

Ah, that's just what I was looking for - thank you!

  • Easy way to put black border around cropped video.

    Hi
I was wondering if anyone knows of an easy way to put a 2-3 pixel black border around a cropped, shrunk video clip.
Its kind of a picture-in-picture deal, but the "simple border" filter doesn't take into account the cropped edges. I've also tried drop shadow, but I need it to be hard lines.
Any suggestions (I'm looking for the easy way because I need to apply this effect to about 100 clips, otherwise I'd just put a black colour matte behind the image).
    Cheers
    Chris.

Layer the Boris Vector Shape generator around your clip. It's a great tool.

  • What about this black border around my movie?

I've just started learning about iMovie. With a Canon Digital I've shot some test footage. Thing is, some of the clips have a black border around the entire movie where other clips have no border top and bottom but do have side borders. What gives? Many thanks.
Mac Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

The problem sounds like it could be an issue with what format you selected for the project when you first created it. iMovie gives you a choice of DV, DV Widescreen, HDV 1081, HDV720, MPEG-4. If you choose one format for your project, but the camera is not set for that particular format, you will see the black bars appear on the sides or around the top of your image.
Which Canon camera are you using? Check to see what format the camera is recording, and make sure your new project matches this.

  • Black Border Around Footage

    Hello,
I have a problem when I import footage into Final Cut. If it is from my camera in SD at 16:9 I get a black border around the footage. It looks like the footage is scaled down a bit but when I open it, it isn't. When I capture it, it looks normal and I can work with it in iMovie but as soon as it is in the timeline of FC it gets the rectangle around it.
Please help, I need to fix the footage +by tomorrow+.
    -thanks

Please be specific. What camera is this? What format are you shooting? What are the item proprieties for the clips? What are the item properties for the sequence? Do they match?

What do you mean by "extend the display"? If you mean "magically make it bigger", then no.

  • Remove Black Border Around Embedded Flash Video

    Hi-
I have searched on the Web without luck, so again I have to
turn tot he forum for help. I believe this should be simple and
straightforward, but doesn't appear so. I have a simple little
Flash video embedded in a plain old web page created with DW8. When
the page is displayed in my web browser it has a thin black border
around the video. I would like to remove this border (such as one
might with image border=0). I have tried several "fixes" ranging
from setting the BODY margin height to 0 to altering my external
style sheet. None of these worked. I even created a fresh web page
with no external style sheet at all and the border is still there.
How on earth do I get rid of that ugly thing? Any help is greatly
    appreciated.

  • Black "border" around project

I just started using Captivate 4 (upgraded from 3).  I am building a new project from scratch.  It is 800x600.  My problem is the black border or line that goes around my project - see below.  I am using a customized skin that does not include this black rectangular border.  I don't know how to get rid of it.  I have changed skins but it doesn't make a difference.  It seems to be more prominent on the right side for some reason too in that there seems to be more of a gap.  The blue border I put around the project is 800x600 so I don't understand why this is showing at all.  It is much more noticeable when I publish as a swf an run it in our LMS.  Can someone help me?  Thanks!

    Thanks for responding.
It turns out it was an unhappy coincidence.  When you preview, Captivate adds this black border around the skin you have already chosen.  Although it does not do that when you preview in a web page.
But then I am placing the Captivate swf file in another product called Datango.  This also put a black border around the Captivate file.  This was the real culprit, but at first it looked it came from Captivate.
    Sorry!

  • Black border around jpegs even tho frame size set right

    Hi
Can a friendly soul please tell me why my images are not the same width as my video footage.
The project is set to "standard" at 720 by 576.
When I set up the image prior to importing to CS3 i make sure they are the same 720 by 576.
Yet after theyve been imported i get a virtical black border around the left and right side. the pic is too narrow.
Experimenting with the sizes before import it seems 769 by 576 is about the right size.
But now the image (its a movie title) moves ever so slightly as i play the timeline. Its the first clip in the project.
Images are created in photoshop and then saved as Jpegs.
Video footage is DV PAL quality filmed on a Sony pd150 camcorder (this is a GREAT bit of kit btw)
    thanks in advance

  • Black border around bg image

Hi I have given up on the random bg images for my client's site at www.carterbrands.com  I have allocated an image per page.  I am getting a black border around the image.  I dimly remember that there is a way around this but I have forgotten what it is.  Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance, Matt.

But... my layout grid is 1010 by 740.
    I'm sure it is
However, your grid floats on a page that is whatever size your various viewers choose. Change your screen resolution, pull your browser window out wide or shrink it up small - a web page is fluid, flexible - and has NO fixed size.
We design for a particular width in pixels (some of us, not all the time) - in the hope that most of our target audience will see that fitting neatly on to their screen most of the time, but we have to accommodate people who make different choices.

  • Export from FCE to iDVD, results in black border around movie

    Here is the problem....
I have edited a movie in FCE where all of the footage is 1440 x 1080
I export it using: File -> Export... QuickTime movie
I choose "self contained" movie and "audio/video", plus "chapter markers" in the pop up menu.
I then take this into iDVD amd all looks ok in the preview, but once burnt to DVD, there is a large black border around the entire movie.  It is almost like it is a smaller movie which does not fill the screen correctly.
Any idea why this happens and how to overcome this. When I lok at the exported movie from FCE- it is 720-x576 and not the full size- is this the problem?
    Thanks for any tips.

    Hi
    Is it widescreen ?
Did You in Your browser window set sequence and material to anamorphous. To me it was a revelation that the Browser window was exstendably to the right with lot's of columns - and one of them was Anamorphous.
Did you start a WideScreen project in iDVD - First window that opens after You clicked Start a New iDVD project (top button). At bottom this new window You set 4:3 (SD format) or 16:9 for WideScreen.
In iDVD You also need to go up to Project and down to Projectinfo
then set 16:9 here TOOO !
Proportion - Change it to 16:9
When I go from FinalCut to iDVD - I do
    FCE/P to iDVD
    Several things
    • How to go from FCE/P to iDVD
    • Free space on Start-up hard disk
    • Encoding
    • Brand and type of DVDs used
    • Burn speed set
    • iDVD BUG
    • Chapters
How to go from FCE/P to iDVD I do
    • Disable Screen and Energy saver
    • IMPORTANT --> FIRST in FinalCut - Mix Down Audio under Sequence Menu / Render Only / Mix-down
    • Export out as a QuickTime .mov file
    • Select with Mark - Chapter Mark
    • Not as Self-Contained (not important but saves time and space)
    • NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION (IMPORTANT)
This QT.mov file I import into iDVD from within iDVD.
Free space on Start-up hard disk
I set a minimum of 25GB (for Mac OS and iDVDs temp files)
    Encoding
    • I use Pro Quality encoding
Brand and type of DVDs used ( Important as cheap brands DO NOT WORK )
    • I use Verbatim
    • I use DVD-R
    Burn speed set (IMPORTANT)
    • I set down this to x4 (or x1)
    iDVD BUG
    • One can not go back to movie-project for any alterations and then go back to
the iDVD project. It will notice and ask You to either Up-date or Cancel. Neither
    of them will work.
Medicine - Start a brand new iDVD project.
    Use of Chapters
    • I only use a to z and 0 to 9 in naming them. NO other symbol/letter !
    • NO Chapter-mark at very beginning - iDVD NEEDS TO set this by it self
    • No Chapter marks in or within two seconds from a transition
(Way around this last one - Export movie as QT full quality and NO Chapter marks
Import this into a new Movie-project and now You are free to set C-Ms where You want
them except at very beginning - still)
    Material used to build movie
    • video - I use streamingDV (or convert all other to this e.g. .mp4, .avi, .wmv etc)
    • audio - I use .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or from Audio-CD (44.1kHz) - no .mp3 or direct from iTunes
    • photos - I use .jpg - no .bmp etc
Problems - then Trash iDVD pref. file and run Repair Permissions - and have a re-try.
    from post ??
May not be relevant, but I had the same problem with iDVD, where burned DVDs showed a green screen. It was cured by quitting Quicksilver and Quickeys as well as disabling sleep and screen-saving

  • Youtube video has black border around it

I impoted a short clip from my camera (640x480 4:3 ratio) into the organizer, then from there opened a premiere elements project and shared the video to Youtube.  The video in premiere element looks fine, it has black stripes on the left and right sides which I think is normal given the source resolution/ratio.  The final video on Youtube, however, has a larger black border around the entire video, including black space at the top and bottom. Why is this, how can I get rid of this extra border?

This usually indicates a mismatch between your source video and your project settings.
Which camcorder model did your video come from and how did you get it into your computer?
When you started your Premiere Elements project, which project settings did you select?
My free Basic Training tutorials on Premiere Elements support site Muvipix.com will show you how to set up a project properly.
