Black border blocking top of screen

Since the iOS 7.1.1 update a black border with the time/battery/sim blocks the top of my games. Does anyone know how to get rid of the border?

How did you import your clips? From analog tapes?

The dark but transparent border at the edge of the screen only recently appeared. I have done some software updates and am running 10.10.2 Yosemite with all applicable updates.

20" display screen now has black border

My screen suddenly has about a 2" border of black on each side and a 1" black border on top and bottom. Toolbar, desktop picture, etc. all show up as normal. However, I am only able to use about 60% of the screen. In some apps such as Quicken, I can't reach the sizer because the bottom of checkbook register is now in the black part. May not even be a prob. w/the display, because altho the screen of the PC itself has no black border, the images in some apps are cropped as described above. I have tried changing display preferences and black border remains. Ideas/solutions will be v. much appreciated.

Sounds like you'll have to take it in to the Apple store for service. This happened to my wife's iPhone and they just replaced it.

Check that you have selected the correct screen resolution for your Mac in System Preferences>Displays. Depending on OS it's either 'Best for built-in display' or the top one on the list of screen resolutions.

Black border around max resolution 1920x1080

I recently bought the R6450 graphics card, the one i had before was a 9400 GT and it had no problems running both my main screen 1920x1080 and my second screen 1400x900. But when i plugged in my main screen using an HDMI cable i got a black border around my main screen only. With the 9400 GT i had to use an adapter (HDMI to Dual VGA) to get the HDMI to work but when i tried this on the R6450 the border only got bigger. I don't know why this happens, any suggestions?

I've not been on this forum for a long time. I used to be able to find the Scaling button/dial in Control Center. I "updated" to 2012 version of system drive ati_system_drive_fm2_mb.zip and could not find the "Scaling" dial anywhere. Did MSI move the Scaling somewhere? Thanks for helping.

LG Flatron L245WP-BN monitor is cut off at top and has a black border at the bottom of the screen. Connected to HP Pavillion laptop via an HDMI cable. Is there any way to align the monitor so the full screen is showing?

Yes, the product number would be helpful. Please don't provide the Serial #, however.
I believe your problem may be that the monitor is not compatible with Win 8.1. The only updates that are available are for Win XP and Vista. You can find this information in the link that I provided under the section titled "Software Update".

Iphone 6 top of screen goes black

I'm having an issue where the top fourth of my screen slides down and is blacked out at random times. I haven't noticed anything in particular that makes it happen. It's happened in the middle of filming a video and while playing games and while surfing safari. It goes away when I press the home key. It's not the search bar- just a big blacked out block. Any ideas?

If you are having issues with your iPhone's screen going partially blank during use, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device

IPad screen too small (wide black border)

there is a wide black border around the screen, obstructing the wifi, time and battery at the top. I'm not sure what I did to make this happen, but it wasn't like this always...?

2" Vertical Black Border on my desk-top

What have I done for this 2" black border on the left side and right side of my desk-top to show up? Why did it happen and What can I do to un-do it?

Also, are you using a desktop image which is not in the right ratio for your display?
If that's not the case try resetting your pram/nvram.

Black border around screen

Hello, I'm not entirely sure when this started but I have an annoying 1/4" black border around my screen. I think it has to do with scaling, but can't find an option within the integrated Intel HD Graphics to change built-in monitor. This notebook has Intel HD graphics 4400, and is running the most current Intel Graphics HD and WIndows 8.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Black border around iPad screen?

Hello, I recently noticed that their is a small black border around my iPad 3's screen in between the screen and the actual glass and steel border, is this normal?

IPhoto adds ugly black border around imported screen grabs

When I grab a picture of an application screen (using cmd + shift + 4 and then hitting the space bar over the application), I get a screen grab that opens fine in Preview, but when I drag/import it to iPhoto, it adds an ugly thick black border around the whole picture. Why? Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Black Border on my screen

Hello - My screen has a one inch black border on both left and right of my screen - which means I'm not getting full use of my screen. I cannot drag the screen to fill it and cannot hit the green button to make it any bigger. Any clues?

Just a guess. Go into System Preferences, then Displays and select 1280x800. I'm guessing you might be set at 800x600.

The first two problems (box cycling from element to element on page, scroll bar returning to top) can be caused by a stuck (or defective) Tab key on the keyboard. Such damage can be caused by a liquid spill; just one tiny droplet is enough to short a wafer switch under one key.
The last issue (black box, white text - sounds sorta like a debugger window) I haven't seen, but could be caused by something similar.
To check for that, try using a different keyboard. If you're using a wireless keyboard, turn it off and see if the oddities stop.

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software or apps.
If this does not work, set it up as new device, explained here:

If still no luck, get it serviced by Apple or visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider next to your place and let them have a look at your device.
