Black Bounding box?

I just upgraded from CS3 to CS6. I hate this big black bounding box I am now working inside of. Makes it much harder to Command-zero an image up to full screen size, and Also I haven't been able to figure out how to bring 2 images up together, so I can see them both. To clone stamp one to the other for instance. How do I get rid of th big black box?

Which OS. Floating windows or tabbed editing. There is also a sight difference between how on a PC perhaps Mac too how Command+0 works on CS6 as compared to previous versions of Photoshop. I think right now you seeing tabbed editing for the first time.

  • Text put into a canvas element with context.fillText() always has a black box where each letter goes. If the text is black you just see the black rectangle. If the text is not black you see it on the black bounding box. Surely this is not right.

This has happened on the last few versions of firefox, as long as canvas has been supported. I see other people's screen shots from canvas tutorials, and the text always looks normal. On my system, any text put into a canvas element via context.fillText() will have a black bounding box for each letter, sized appropriately for the letter. If the text is black, of course you only see rectangles. If the text is a contrasting color, then you can read it, but it looks bizarre.

    Thomas...same kind of crap here.
I used Custom Text - entered a sentence, hit return, entered another.
    Set to 72 pt.
The default alignment is centred - I want left aligned text...the text start point stays at the centre of frame and the sentence runs off the edge of the bounding box.
There is no settings in the Text or Title inspector dialog to correct that!
Using Transform will not sort it!

  • Black Bounding Box Appearing on my screen.. driving me mad!

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. Somehow I have managed to get this black bounding box to appear n anything that I select. I don't know how I did it, my only guess is that some keyboard shortcut backfired on me!
It wouldn't be such a big deal except when I'm working in Quark, I keep getting a huge box the length of my screen appearing and its in my waywhen I'm trying to work. I guess its a finder feature somewhere in settings but for the life of me, I just can't find it.
I would be very grateful if someone could help me.
    Thanks,
    Joni

Did you turn the Universal Access Voice Over on? (cmd-F5 toggles it.)
You can go to Universal Access in System Preferences and check the 'off' radio button too.

  • Effects change bounding box background color

This is a technical continuation of my earlier inquiry - to which I found a workaround but not the solution.
Create a document with a black background.
Drop a graphic with a transparent background, or a block of white text, on that background.
Print. You have stuff on a black background.
Now apply an effect to that graphic or text - emboss, glow, whatever.
Print. If you're like me, you have stuff in a noticeable dark-black bounding box on a less-black background.
    Why?
Despite much discussion and suggestions of the obvious (match color spaces, use CMYK graphic, remove underlying black background, etc.) not one thing I ever tried eliminated this bounding-box shadow, which, oddly, does not seem to appear on other colored background, even dark ones. ID is doing something with the black background... but what?
This also happens when (as in my specific case) a photo with a rich-black background refuses to match with a black background of the same color build. The photo is a deeper, shinier, rich black while the graphic black is colder and grayer.
The only thing I can think of is that it's an artifact of my HP print drivers, so I'd be interested in seeing who can replicate this fault and who can't. ...thanks!

The full-rasterization technique in the original post fixes the problem, yes. I experimented with quite a few other settings along this line including letting the printer handle color and setting the mode to PS2. Nothing - as before - corrected the issue.
So what exactly is the problem here? Is ID sending badly formed PS code? Is there a bug in the PS3 interpreter? Or what? And is there any way to actually fix this, or is the ID-rastering setting the only way?
And, finally, is this only an issue on my printer, or will the magazine's page imager render the same fault? These are pretty expensive ads for the client and I don't want to see these lovely bands when the magazine hits my desk. If it's just my printer, I can live with the workaround. But as this is a high-end HP with genuine PS3, how can a RIP with PS3 handle it any differently?
Thanks for the workaround, in any case. I'd still like to fix the PROBLEM, if I can.

  • Bounding Box

    Hi Guys
I'm a newbie to Spry and I attach an image of a problem. I get a partial black bounding box line to the righthand bottom edge of the heading and a partial white line to the left and part of the bottom edges of the dropdown box. Yet when I check out the variousSpry options in the properties panel, I can't seem to find one to turn this off. Can anyone offer some guidance please?

Hi...just had a brief moment here..

    Hello
As promised, I've uploaded my test page to: http://www.gbatdemo.co.uk/sprytest/testpage3.html. The problems are all in the button "services". I have two problems (as I now have 2 sub menus. The first issue is the lines I mentioned above around the left and bottom of the drop down box. The second problem is the 2nd sub-menu that opens to the right kind of mashes into the1st drop down box. I'm sorry if this is obvious stuff from this newbie but I just can't seem to find what I'm doing wrong.
Any help would be appreciated or let me know if you need more info provided.
    Happy New Year!

The middle handle on the rectangle is not there anymore when I select it with the black arrow (v) tool. Show bounding box and edges are both on. Where dd the middle anchor go??

    haggyabeken,
I am afraid you have come across the Live Rectangle bug which is limited to the MAC versions starting with 10.7 and 10.8, but not 10.9 (Mavericks), see this thread linked to below.
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1595973
So a switch to Mavericks with a reinstallation might be the way to solve it here and now.
To get round it in each case, it is possible to Expand the Live Rectangles to get normal old fashioned rectangles, or to Pathfinder>Unite, or to use the Scale Tool.
A more permanent way round that is to create normal old fashioned rectangles, after running the free script created by Pawel, see this thread with download link:

  • Blue bounding box - Can't Remove

    www.cfhda.com/menu.html
In Firefox and Navigfator, but "not Safari or Explore," there
is a blue bounding box around a link (pricing) at the bottom.
It shows up in the DW doc, but I can't get rid of it. The
link is a png in a table cell but there are no border or background
colors selected or on the png.
The page property is set to black, but I can't see that that
    would make a difference.

The link-ness of the image causes it to have that boxed
    appearance. The
    explicit border attribute overrides it.

  • Photo bounding box shows when printed

I'm a new user to the programs and I've edited a photo in photoshop, took the background from around a moth, then placed it on a book cover.  When the cover is printed you can see the bounding box(shows darker than the background color) where the background used to be.  On screen you don't see any difference.  I can't figure out how to get the file not to show the background and whether it is a photoshop change or an InDesign change.  Can some one please help in how to make this change?  Thanks for helping out a newbie!

It sounds like the bounding box area is almost black and your background is black. The difference between what you see on screen and what prints can be as simple as rgb vs cmyk. Where as the rgb or monitor shows both to be black and cmyk or printer shows a shift in brightness between the two values.
If this sounds like whats happening a simple fix is to use the levels command, you will find three eye droppers the bottom one sets the black level, click on the dropper then onto the area that is suppose to be black. This will force that area or I should say values to be black.
In other words if you had three shades in an image, one thats white, one thats 50 % grey, and one thats black. Using the eye dropper and clicking on the grey shade would tell photoshop to treat anything in the image that is between 50% and 100% black as black and leave the rest of the image alone.

  • Scripting: Bounding Box Paragraph Style

I just got off of a chat with Om of Adobe Tech Support.  He informs me what I am trying to do is possible with scripting, but I am not skilled at this at all, so I was hoping the community here might be able to help me.  What I am trying to do is this...
I am laying out a document that has certain paragraphs that need to be surrounded by a box with a 1p0 black line. When the paragraph in question is split between two columns the top half of the box needs to surround the text in the first column, and the bottom half of the box needs to surround the text at the top of the next column. In other words the box needs to be split as well as the paragraph. When in the middle of a column the box is intact. I had been drawing the box by hand, but when the text is reflowed for whatever reason all of the boxes need to be moved and many of the 3 lines of half boxes need to be be redrawn. I am looking for a way to accomplish the same thing programatically by designing a style to handle not only the text, but the bounding box as well.
Below is a screenshot of a finished PDF that illustrates both a bounding box in the middle of a column, and one split between columns.  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
A sample script (I may be able to alter if necessary), or a finished script would be great!  I am also quite a n00b with InDesign, and would need a quick tutorial on how to use the script.
    Thanks!
    Alex D. Karaczun

Ariel, rest assured it wasn't the price for a custom script I was objecting to. I'm sure you have more experience with that than me (considering my one and only commercial script took 6 months for creating a working concept only -- $450 would not be enough to cover those costs!). A fully custom job, plug-in or script, can be very expensive, and maintaining and updating it can be time consuming as well.
Karaczun: there are some major differences between scripts and plug-ins I need to mention. The same script can run, by and large, on both Mac and PC versions of InDesign, and with some luck on different versions of InDesign as well. Also, it has no influence at all on the document itself -- this can still be opened and edited without having the script installed.
A plug-in, on the other hand, works only on (a) a certain version of InDesign (you need different versions of the plug-in for different versions of ID), and (b) a certain platform (you need a Mac OS version or a Windows version). Also, depending on how the plug-in operates, it may be impossible to edit or even open the document on computers without the plug-in.

  • Unwanted bounding box resets

I'm having a rather infuriating issue with Bounding Box resets.
    Image here:
    http://img848.imageshack.us/i/unled3j.jpg/
Sorry—I can’t get it to show up in this message.
The first row of the linked image shows a roughly isometric view of a machine decal, followed by straight on views of a red box and a newer version of the decal.
To turn this new decal into a similar perspective, I normally:
1-rotate the decal using the black/closed arrow hovering over a corner handle
2-use the Free Transform tool on the rotated side handle of the bounding box to skew the rotated image
The second row shows what happens to the red box and its Bounding Box after rotation.I would normally use the handle that had been the middle right to Free Transform this object
The third row shows the new decal rotated. It's bounding box has reset itself automatically and is no longer useful with the Free Transform tool.
These two objects are on the same document, so I'm guessing the Bounding Box reset has something to do with some attribute of the new decal. Whatever it is, an operation that normally take 10 seconds has become suddenly impossible. Anybody know what to do to fix this?
    Thanks.
    Matt
    http://img848.imageshack.us/i/unled3j.jpg/

I had this problem as well, and it was driving me crazy. This happens when you have multiple objects sellected that have bounding boxes set at different rotations. They can be grouped or ungrouped, it makes no difference, and the bounding box will automatically reset. I found that resetting the bounding box (before applying the transform) fixes the problem. This seems counter intuitive, because the bounding box doesn't look like it needs to be reset. It already appears straight, so there is no noticable change after applying the reset bounding box command. However, afterwards the bounding box will stay in the correctly rotated position because all objects have the same bounding box rotation.

  • Transform/Bounding Box Bug Illustrator CC 2014 18.1.0

    Hi Guys,
I did a little screencast here, anyway the bug is a simple one to explain. For some reason the transform/bounding box disappears on single objects, but behaves normally on multiples and groups.
Such a small thing but very annoying.
    cheers

Any fixes soon Adobe Illustrator ?

Thanks to you both Monika Gause and Jacob Bugge
All those alternatives certainly match up to the testing I'd done, probably the fastest/cleanest is to just hit "unite" in the pathfinder palette.
For the benefit of other users, coming only recently from CS5 this is an interesting new option, MENU = OBJECT > SHAPE > EXPAND RECTANGLE (snapshot below) once you have "Expanded" the rectangle it will behave as expected where toggling back to the black Selection Tool (V) will show the transform handles.
I'll be heading over to Yosemite in the next week if I get some downtime to make it happen! (crosses fingers - back up - back up - back up...)
    cheers

  • Scopes limited to a bounding box!

I've put in a wishform request (  https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?event=processform&name=wishform#wishprodlan g  ) for something that would have a HUGE effect on the speed of my grading: being able to have the scopes limited to the data in a drawn bounding-box! I'd want it to be a key-boarded shortcut, but one you could set to "on" and just leave as you wanted to.
Think of how this would assist you in  skin-tone corrections/controls, being able to at any moment draw a quick bounding-box and see where on the vector-scope your "skin" falls, both for rotational degree (hue) and saturation!
Think of the way this could work in checking for secondary corrections ... both in determining IF you need to do the work of making a secondary, and ... if so ... showing you where you need to start AND where you need to go.
Currently the only way to do this is to make a top-level primary layer, create a mask on it futzing around to make the mask fit exactly the area you need to "see" in the scope, set the layer for controlling the outside of the mask, and then "grade" the outer area to black.
You need to do all this anytime you want to restrict the scopes to one small section of the image. The control as I've suggested, only because I've learned it is something available in some other software and is slicker than SNOT to use (    ) ... well, it would be available INSTANTLY all the time. What a huge time-saver this would be for me.
Y'all are welcome to post this on to Adobe also ...
    Neil

    FWIW Neil
In my experience ..."skin tone" and any other is ultimately CC and graded to the "eye-ometer"
Key to subtleties and control  is the use of Secondaries thru HSL qualifiers and masks.
Personally ..once I get into areas such as skin tone...its all eye and not a glance at a scope ...apart from the constant eye on Black and highlight levels.
I would like to see Adobe gain scope consistency across the apps.  SG , PPRO and AEFX
I am not adverse to a "floating point scope" as an optional tool. ( Another scope).
If you can get a look at DVRack (Serious Magic)  or Adobe On Location scopes... do so.

  • Bounding box much larger than object?

    Hello all,
Ive been working on this project in Illustrator for a day or two now. All of a sudden, all objects, both preexisting and newly created, have a very large purple bounding box regardless of what layer they belong to (pictured below).
In order to alter the size of the object, I have to find the corner of the large bounding box. I have a feeling it may be a setting I hit as this began happening after I was fiddling around with adding more artboards.
Any know what is going on with this? Help is much appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply!
I am able to make a direct selection without the bounding box present, however I dont believe having it grouped anywhere is the problem since even new objects created have this same problem.
Also, when I move the object with the black arrow, the bottom left corner of the purple bounding box stays fixed while the other three points move as I drag.
