Black Button?

Hi lenovo community,
I wanted to ask you guys what does the lenovo "black button" do. I recently bought the lenovo t430 and the black button is on the top left side and is beside the microphone mute button.
On the manual it just says black button, but I don't know what the purpose of this button do. Can someone help me out and thanks in advance.

Yes, the T60p is about 50% heavier. But that's because it's made from heavier material like die cast aluminum rather than carbon fibre. Remember the technology in the two systems differ by 6 years. But we're digressing from the (apparently) far more important issue of maintaining colour coordination and purity of design in the ThinkPad lineage

After upgrading to Windows 8 (from 7), I can't seem to get the black Thinkvantage button to work or do anything.
Can someone point me in which piece of software I need to install to get it to work? I have looked through the drivers/software list and seemingly installed everything (including the Hotkey Features integration drivers).
All of the other function keys, volume, mute, etc. work fine, just not that button.

Black button has no function on Win8, except in the Lenovo preload, in which cases it launches Device Experience which is a preload-only thing.
On Win7 it was possible to modify registry to make the black (or formerly blue) button launch anything you want, but this just isn't possible on Win8 with the Lenovo tools.
Black button has been phased out (it doesn't exist on 2013 systems like T431s) and admittedly the product teams did not handle this transition well, as shown by the fact that the button isn't even labeled on your system.

Registry entry to activate "black button" on X230T?

I'm about three weeks into running Win8RP x64 on my brand new X230T, upgraded to 16 gb ram and 500 gb SSD drive.
Overall I love it. I have one application that would run MUCH better with a higher resolution screen but overall I love it. For me this is a completely successful upgrade from my X201T.
I definitely prefer the X230T keyboard to the X201T keyboard due to: same great key press experience, back light, and improved position of delete key.
I did a clean install of Win8 Release Preview x64 and combined Lenovo Win8beta drivers and Win7 drivers to get everything working except for the black button. I don't really need the black button, but I'd enjoy getting it working. I used VLC for DVD playback.
Does anybody know the correct registry entry to make something like the Lenovo Solution Center or SimpleTap open with a press of the black button.
I have found this entry in my registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SOFTWARE|IBM|TPHOTKEY|8001|C:\Program Files\Lenovo\SimpleTap\BlueButton.exe
but this must be designed for a different model. I guess the Win7x64 SimpleTap installation added this entry.

No, I really want that virtual keys are transparent in the home of the album, and not completely black (the images can be seen through the virtual keys). I have seen that they are transparent in the images that you send through the update centre.
What I wanted to say about the application Movies is that on the main page you can see this, and I'd like to apply it to the album.
Perhaps it is not possible, I'd recommend it for next updates since it looks much better.

Im unable to open my wireless mouse back to change the batteries. The little black button seems to be stuck - I've tried to pry it open using 2 small screwdrivers but to no avail. Will I need to buy a new mouse?ve tried to pry it ope

I am unable to open the back of my wirelss mouse to change the batteries which I've changed several times before. The black release button on the back does not seem to work. I've tried using a couple of small screwdrivers to pry it open but I don't want to break the plastic and therefore the mouse. Anyone have any other ideas or do I need to buy a new mouse?

You may have caused more damage with the screwdrivers. It can be tricky as it works the opposite way to what you may first imagine. Hold the mouse, bottom upwards, the black catch nearest to you. Then flick the black catch towards you with your nail. (Not away from you towards where a space is showing).

The blue button on my trackpoint keyboard 41A5091 appears broken - is it at all possible to get a replacement for this please?

My minimize button is black instead of colored

I have a 15" Macbook Pro Retina and for some reason my close/minimize/maximize buttons are black instead of red/yellow/green.. I tried to look through the setup but could not find anything to change these.. Where is this setup?

Try System Preferences > General > Appearance > Change to Blue, if its set on Graphite.
That's the only thing I know that changes the color of those icons. Hope it helps!

[SOLVED]Xorg 1.10.902 upgrade - doesnt handle XI2 SD buttons...

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know that the latest Xserver update from yesterday, is a bad one!
Initially, you may not notice any problems. (which is probably how it made it through testing). However, anyone using any software that includes gestures, middle-clicks/right-clicks (with dragging) will probably notice this. and it's a big problem depending on what software you need to be able to use.
I had originally posted about Easystroke being broken (found in AUR, gesture recognition software). as this is how i noticed the problem. That discussion was moved to AUR forum, but it's not an AUR problem. It is a problem in the "EXTRA" repo, and thus a problem for anybody who may have, or will upgrade yesterday/today!!
In general desktop usage, you may not notice the problem. Basically, mouse clicks/dragging do not work properly when using Easystroke, Opera, Chrome, Maya2011...and a bunch of other applications, i would assume. it doesn't seem to affect the First mouse button (or in my case the tip of my Wacom Stylus).
It is really noticeable in any applications that require "clicking/dragging" with second/third mouse buttons held down. Opera's navigation gestures do not work (hold down right-click and mouse your mouse) - usually you would get a big-black button on the screen, not anymore, it disappears instantly... in Easystroke your clicks will get held, and easystroke will not register a single input/gesture. In Maya2011, i am screwed until this is fixed.
you will be able to use your desktop just fine, but be aware xserver 1.10.902 should have never left testing! ...and you might want to wait to upgrade it until this problem ahs been fixed.
The bug is upstream and apparently has been reported (upstream) by the people at Launchpad;

It's not an Arch specific bug, so i didn't file a bug report. i just wanted to let everyone know, as it isn't obvious if your not using certain types of software and combinations of whatever type of input (mouse/tablet) you are using....

I've been using MacOSX instead, for most of my work. Which is exactly why i still have OSX running, because it is rock solid and never gives me problems, ever thus, it is a good fallback. (and most of the software i use in Linux, is also installed in OSX)
Hopefully, this is resolved soon, it's been a couple of days ~ and i hope upstream is taking this bug seriously, as it is a really stupid bug, that could have easily been avoided - had the code been tested properly, before pushing it out the door.
All that someone had to do, was try to do a mouse-grab, and they would have noticed... strange.
I also don't get why it hasn't been pulled from the extra-repo?!?!?!?? clearly, it is a broken package, and should not be distributed, or be available as an update in the extra repo at all ~ this just seems stupid to me, someone has really dropped the ball here.

IPhone top sleep/wake button is not working & Apple Logo screen at startup

I have the original iphone. I have two problems, both just happened tonight at the same time. For seemingly no reason just my iphone external top sleep/wake button is not working. I tried powering the phone off and back on. I tried resetting my iphone, and restoring it. I made sure my Iphone software is up to date. None of these remedies have fixed the button. The button doesn't look broken, it pushes in and out, it just doesn't work anymore.
Second problem is, after I power my iphone off and then back on, the Apple logo screen will continue to flash on and off indefinitely. The only way to get my home screen to appear is to connect my iphone to my computer. Then it wants to sync. After syncing it then asks if I want to "power off" or "cancel". Huh, why does is it doing that? To turn my iphone off I am pressing my Home button down until it shuts off, since I can't power off with the top black button. Is that the reason my phone is having the second problem, because I am powering off with the Home button? Could it be my second problem is not a problem?
My iphone 1 year warranty is over. I can't call Apple Care, there is no apple store near me. I need a solution I can do at home myself. Please help. Even if you think the answer is obvious please suggest it to me. Before tonight nothing was wrong with my iPhone. It all started after I let my 6 and 7 year old nephews play with Google Maps on my phone for like 10 minutes - supervised. I consider myself to be a pretty Apple tech savvy guy, yet I can't figure out if they broke my iphone somehow, nor can I fix these two problems. Please help!

I'm afraid I have good and bad news. Apple sent me a new original iphone. So that takes care of me but does not take care of the issue for so many people like you. I do not know if you can purchase the Apple Care plan at this time. Look into that. It really is worth it. Apple products require Apple technicians in the rare case the breakdown. Apple did not offer me an explanation of how they'll fix my phone or even saying why they sent me a new one. I synced it with Itunes and all my personalizations and apps are loaded back on it. It's like my old phone only shinyer and probably going to last me longer than the old one.
I found out Apple Care covers the Iphone for 2 years past it's purchase date. So I would think that you could buy Apple Care even if you had it for like a year. Then it would at least cover you until the 2 year mark, which after that we're on our own(?). Please let me/us know if you were able to buy Apple Care protection and if they fixed your problem. I am impressed they got me a new phone so fast. I still love Apple.

Adjusting black and white contrast on Photosmart 7520 whilst copying

I can't find any instruction on how to adjust copying contrast on black and white copies..

I have the 7520, also. I am not aware of any adjustment for the contrast when copying. I am not at my printer at the moment, but I will check it out more throroughly a bit later. I will get back to you.
Update: I checked to see what settings were available when Copying. You press Copy button / Settings / Quality - Draft, Normal (Default) & Best. I suggest trying the Best setting and press the Black button to see if that helps. These are the only settings that I could find.

Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.

Gradient Button

I'm trying to build a gradient background button. The code works fine, however, it seems that you cannot place text or images once the gradient background is filled. Below is the code I used to build the button. Any input is greatly appreciated.

hi,
i did the above mentioned corrections of calling super.paintComponent (g) at the end of paintComponent() method and also setting the opaque property of button to false. But it didnt work for me. the button is showing its default look and feel colour of jdk 1.5. when i applied the similar approach to JPanel it worked and got gradient background. But i wonder why its not working for JButton.

2nd Loch Ness?- Ominous SEND button during call

Does anyone of you guys know what it is and what it does?
HOW DID IT APPEAR?
During a call today (I was getting called) I put the phone on the desk, making the display turn on again. In the top part of the screen, where you can find the caller ID and a timer for the call, there was a little black button called SEND. It was placed to the right of the call timer. Height of the button was round about the same right as the timer fonts.
Pressing it didn't do anything notable for me. However after having pressed the button it disappeared and I could not bring it back so far.
Searching the web didn't answer my question what this function does and how to evoke this mysterious button again.
Has anyone seen it too? If yes, did you figure out what it is for?

There are dedicated VERY big buttons for multicall management in the middle of the screen. I am talking about a TINY little button that I have never ever seen before which appeared in the top part of the phone screen where you can see the party you are talking with and the timer of the ongoing call.
Anyone who can help?

HP Officejet 6500 All-In-One 709n Won't print black

I am using a 6500 wireless printer. The printer has been in storage for 5 months. The cartridges were removed and placed in my refrigerator. Upon reinstalling the cartridges the printer seemed to print; but there was no ink on the paper. I cleaned the print heads several times. The level of the color cartridges went down significantly; but the black cartridge did not. I replaced the black cartridge with a newly purchased one. The problem persists. Test pages show all the color but no black. The Copy/Black button gives the same results. That is: the printer appears to print each line but no ink gets to the paper. It is blank.

I too suddenly cannot print with black ink. i replaced the colored and black cartridges. I am getting colored ink. I have tried numerous solutions offered on the internet including, wiping the print head, saoking the print head, running multiple printhead cleaning cycles via my hp6500 officejet all inone printer. i have now spent better than a half day on this issue and consumed nearly all of the new colored ink! on occasion i would test the black ink and get one short email to print in black. the subsequent test minutes later only a blank page or text so faint it could not be read.
several months ago i had an issue with no printing...cleaned the print head and it seeems to have worked fine until now.
what options are left? i have spare new colored cartridges i hate to throw away if i need to buy a new printer. my printer is 4 yrs old though only used for the last 3 as it was in storage for nearly a year.
are there new hp printers using the 920 cartridges?
