  • Faded/ No Black Color Printing HP PhotoSmart 5510 Series

I have a HP Photosmart 5510 Series device.
I have cleaned printheads, changed the ink/toner, checked the vents and still I can't get the black color to print properly without being REALLY faded or sometimes not even showing.
I have read numerous articles for help and still no luck.
    Suggestions?

    Hi Kkenny,
I have a feeling the printer may be printing from the computer using composite black. For black and white images and photos, a blend of colors called "composite black" may be used to achieve significantly better image quality and smoother gray tones than can be accomplished with black inks alone. - Source
My suspicion is that the black ink cartridge itself may not be working or the printhead is not letting the black ink through to the page. Let's use the following links to begin our troubleshooting journey!
Please complete all of the steps in the following document; Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages. Although I hope this resolves the issue, it might not. As you have a 5520, If the issue persists,  I would suggest calling HP Phone Support regardless of whether it is in or out of warranty as you may require a replacement printer.
The number to call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
Please let me know if the document resolves the issue, or if you called HP and the outcome of the call. Thanks.

  • C7250 Printer, Black color print problem

All colors except black perform well.  The black prints light and dark (normal) usually on alternate lines, sometimes at random throughout the document.  Have tried replacing cartridge and cleaning print heads (three times).  Also cleaned contacts on printer and cartridge.  Seems like a partial blockage, any suggestions?

    jgpat wrote:
You might be accurate in your analysis.  I inspected the cartridges and the label on top of the black cartridge is centered under the slot of the receiver, but the color cartridge is off-center to the left of the slot.  I removed the color cartridge and re-inserted it but it still isn't lined up as the black is.  Can a novice make any adjustment without damaging the printer head?
It would appear there is an issue with either the latch or the capping station.  In either case it would be best to have HP service the unit if it is still under warranty.  To Contact HP click here, or in the US call 1-800-HPINVENt.

I have an HP deskjet color printer that only prints in black and white from my mac ... how do I get it to print in color

Check the printer itself.  Some printers you need to set the color & B&W settings on the printer itself instead of the Mac.   If that is not the case w/your printer, contact HP tech support and/or post in their forums if they have one.

  • Getting Darker Blacks from My HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer

Hi. I own an HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer and am on a Windows XP system. For regular printing, it works great. However, for some graphic work I am doing, I can not get the blacks to print out dark enough. I can not find any settings on the print properties panel that would allow me to set a darker black coverage. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hey,
I see you are having an issue with Air Print on your CP1525nw Color Laserjet Pro.  Have you tried a full network power cycle?
Unplug the router and printer while on
Power down the iOS device completely.  Check out the following link for how: http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonehowtos/qt/turn_off_iphone.htm
    Wait 30 seconds
Power the router up and wait for it to completely initialize before proceeding
Power the printer up and wait for it to completely initialize before proceeding
Power the iOS device back up
It sounds like the network most likely lost communication with the bonjour service of the printer.
If you need to update the firmware of the CP1525nw please click the following link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=lj-86473-9&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
Let me know how it goes.

  • OSX Print in Black and White on an HP Color printer?

I have an HP8500 Color printer connected to OSX 10.8.3 through a JetDirect port. The OSX Driver for the HP8500 does not have the option to print in color or B&W that the windows driver has. As a consequence, even when printing in B&W from a PPT deck, the driver prints using all four color toners to produce a black and white output that looks like it has a hint of purple in it. Is there a different driver I could use that has the option to select black or color output? As it is I'm buring through very expensive color toner for balck and white docs.

The Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter has the same print mechanism as its All-in-One counterpart the Officejet Pro 8600.  This printer has a printhead mechanism that contains 4 individual cartridges: CMYK (cyan/magenta/yellow/black).
One will have to replace the cartridge, if the unit provides a message of one of the colors being empty, before the unit will resume printing.  It is a maintenance mechanism to prevent the product from self-damage.  Hope this helps.

  • Color Space Issue: One Black On Screen But Two Blacks When Printed

I work at a print shop (using Windows 7 and Adobe Acrobat X) and often receive PDFs from customers that were created from PowerPoint. These PowerPoint PDFs often present a printing issue when there are black objects in the file.
On screen, there will be only one consistent shade of black but when the document is printed, it becomes evident that there are actually two different blacks in the file, one darker than the other.
I have done a lot of online research (including these forums) in an attempt to find a complete solution that will always work for these problem-files but have yet to find one.
I know that the issue stems from the fact that PowerPoint uses RGB colors and not CMYK like printers but trying to manually convert color spaces in Adobe Acrobat Pro to be uniform did not help. Whether I convert the entire document's color space to CMYK or just individual objects, I always get the two shades of black when printing. Can anyone explain why this isn't working for me?
I have used the Output Preview tool to determine that the two blacks in the documents are almost always C0-M0-Y0-K100 and C75-M68-Y67-K90. I have read that a custom Preflight fix can be created to seek out all instances of one black and convert it to the other but I did not have success when trying this method. I must be doing something wrong. After running my fix, I always get a message about how no issues are found. If someone can post a step-by-step guide on how to create a Preflight fix that will resolve this issue, I would really appreciate it.
I have uploaded three sample PDFs that I'm currently working with. Please feel free to review and troubleshoot them. My goal is to uncover a solution that I can apply to all three files to get them to print with one consistent black.

  • Only scanned document (jpeg) can print black color

    Hello everyone,
I have a weird problem with my printer. Black ink is not printing properly. Whenever I print  any .doc or text files, a blurry page comes out..and sometimes, i got nothing but an empty page. What makes it weird is, I can print any scanned doc saved as jpeg with no problem. Black color gets printed with photos.
I already used the maintenance tools like cleaning and aligning the ink cartridge but to no avail. The ink level is also full.
    Any idea what's happening?

OK, I checked the versions of the different machines running IE and they are all 5.00.2614.3500. Also, for the time being, my policy file consists of:
    grant {
            // Allow everything for now
            permission java.security.AllPermission;
};What other security issues to I need to investigate? Thanks so much for your responses!

  • Help with rich black color for print project, please

We are using CS5 photoshop to create a 3ft x 8 ft vinyl banner. We've never created something this large for print before.  Included layers are a black to white gradient, a black filigree graphic from DigitalJuice, and black text (that was created in Illustrator by someone else).  We set the project up using CMYK.  The printer informed us that we need to change the blacks to rich black (C50%, M40%, Y40%, K100%).
How is this best done?  I can see how to change the color picker to the rich black %, but this doesn't appear to change the blacks in the project.  Is there a way to change them, or to export the project with rich blacks?
Do we have to begin from scratch - and if so, how do we get the graphics and gradients to the rich black color settings.
Any help will be greatly appreciated -

In RGB mode I can't create non - rich black. For example if I set the color palette to CMYK, choose C=0%, M=0%,Y=0%, K=100%, fill the canvas with this color, and then measure the color with the eyedropper, the color reads C=70%, M=68%, Y=64, K=74%.
This means that if your document is in CMYK mode and you have blacks that read C=0%, M=0%,Y=0%, K=100%, converting the document to RGB and then back to CMYK these blacks will become rich. Though the numbers of the rich black my vary depending on how your color management is set.
Have in mind that the numbers above preserve the tonal intensity of non-rich black when converted to rich black. If you want the numbers your printer suggested they will be fine for elements like text and flat colors but for things like photo images this will intensify the blacks and will alter the tonal balance appearance which may be not what you want.

  • HP Color LaserJet CP1215 - Color printing - Page prints yellow background

Good morning --- I don't believe I have posted to this forum before, so I hope someone can help me solve this issue.
    My CP1215 color LaserJet -
    printing pref set to color-
printing a document with colored icons, etc. or color photograph
Results: the "background" or what should be the white area, is yellow - bright yellow.
If I switch printing pref to B/W, I get a black/white document or photo.  Of course, no color.
I have replaced the yellow toner cartridge (HP product) TWICE, the second one just this morning.
    There are NO error messages.
Tried running the cleaning tool; disconnect/reconnect, etc.  No luck.
I gave up trying to solve this issue 2 years ago, and have kept the pref set to black/white with no tech issues.
Now, however, I have the need to print in color, and I would really like to figure out how to correct this problem.
This printer is a monster - ~30 lbs or more, and I would rather not have to haul it to a computer shop or ship it.
If anyone out there has had this problem, please let me know how/if you were able to resolve it.  Many thanks.
    Susan - Threecats

    Hi Threecats
I understand when you print in color you are getting a yellow background.
I have included a document for troubleshooting the all yellow background printing.
Print out a configuration page from Solution eight first. This document  will provide steps for cleaning and calibrating the printer. The Print quality troubleshooting page will identify the print cartridge that is causing the issue.
Let me know the results when you compare it to the one in the document and if the background printed yellow again. Also the Print quality troubleshooting page results.
What kind of paper are you using?
