Black cursor versus white cursor and grabbing text

Does anyone know why the cursor arrow shifts from black to white over some text boxes in an iWeb document?
This matters to us because when the cursor is black, then we are able to select the text, such as for copying.
When the cursor shifts to white, which it's doing over a couple of text boxes, we're unable to select the text.
We want to make sure all text boxes are selectable, since we're creating a media release where the readers need to be able to conveniently grab our text.
We've checked the inspectors and can't find any difference between the two text boxes. I've checked the discussion search, iWeb help, and any PDF manuals I can find, but no mention of what is causing the text boxes to be different.
Any explanations or suggestions?

Can you take screenshots of the two different cursors and post them here? I've only been able to get one cursor associated with text boxes and that's the black one with the white border. I do get the white hand over widgets.

Boot Camp partitions and restarts to black DOS screen, white cursor

I've tried installing Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro 8,1 three times now. When Boot Camp Assistant finishes the partition it restarts to a black screen with white cursor at top left. Nothing happens after that. If I restart it still happens. The only way to boot into OS X now is to hold option on boot and select my main drive.

Doesn't matter, Windows 8 is not supported yet (Apple have not released drivers) at the moment it is pure luck if it works (as many have discovered) Use Win 7 or wait for support from Apple.

Mail page now black background with white print and I cannot fix.

Black screen is in interactive and interactive text (console) mode

I want to install Solaris 10 on HP Proliant DL380 G5. After installing drivers for Smart Array (from CPQary3.iso) I can't see this:
"Starting Solaris Interactive (graphical user interface) Installation.
You must respond to the first question within 30 seconds or the installer
proceeds in a non-window environment (console mode)".
The screen now is black in both modes: interactive and interactive text (console)
If I don't install CPQary3 then graphical user interface works good, but "No disks found" :)
What can I do with it?

well the problem has been solved...hope this may help others having this issue.
i basically just let the battery run out, then connected the ipod to my laptop and voila...it reset and all is well again...
pretty random, but glad it is all working again.

Black window with white border and cursor location - how do I get rid of it?

I must have inadvertently hit some key or combo of keys and now I have an oblong black window with white border that is annoyingly telling me what the cursor is over and where I can go/ what I can do from there.
How did I manage to turn this on and more important, how can I turn it off?

BootCamp Black Screen with white cursor not like the others :S

i searched around but my problem is not like the others i was doing bootcamp than i put my win 7 cd and reboot but a black screen comes with a white cursor and nothing happens and now i dont want the dang win 7 i just want my mac back with my data i eject the cd and reboot my mac gray scereen comes and after 10 sec. black screen comes again says bootable device no found help ! i tried cmd at the grey screen nothing happens i tried cmd+r / cmd + alt / cmd + r +p / cmd+r+p+alt / cmd+alt+r and all that stuff it wont do nothing please helllp i cant even recover my recover thing is inside my mac but cant acess there :S it like im doomed please help please i use lion

iMac displays a black screen during installation of Windows 7

How to change pdf (with dark background) so it print with white background and dark text??

I have lots of nice presentations I am studying- the problem is most of them were made in ppt with dark backgrounds and white text then converted to pdf files. So when I print them, I get a dark (black) background with white text- very annoying. Is there anyway to get it to print with a light (or no) backround with black text? This is much easier for note taking/etc. I have adobe acrobat professional.

Use the rectangle shape tool. Draw a rectangle over the entire frame. In the shape tab, color it whatever you want. Export your TGA sequence.

PS: But if you place a colored bkg in your motion project that you will effectively have no alpha channel. Are they referencing the TGA's alpha?

Dv4-2165dx black screen with white cursor in top left

Hello,
I have the Pavilion dv4-2165dx running Windows 7 32-bit. Last week I was on the computer and a blue screen popped up, and then it went to black. I wish I would have wrote down what the blue screen said, but I missed it. Currently I have been trying to do a system restore on the computer to try and get back on it. I have tried pushing the F8 key to enter safe mode, but that does not work. I try to push the F11 key to enter the system restore, but that does not work. I have hit the escape key while the computer starts up to enter the system restore, and that does not work. I checked to make sure that the hard drive did not have any loose connectors, and it does not. I have ran all of the memory tests and the computer passes all of those. I ran another test and it said to replace the battery, so I did, and that did nothing. The thing that boggles my mind is the computer loads this screen where I can access the internet and check my email before it would normally load into windows. I am not sure if this computer came with a system restore disk as I received it second hand. Basically what I am asking is if anybody knows how to either restore the computer with out the disk, or know where I can get the disk that would be awesome.

Do you recall what the name of the specific virus is?
Did the rescue disk update successfully and not remove the virus or did it fail to update?
This version is the newest rescue disk from Kaspersky. Since the original one isn't working anymore, I recommend making a new one from this download.

Gradient to white, scaling and adding text help?

Hello, I'm trying to make a composite image for for a class, my idea was to take a side shot of a guy's head, cut it out, shillotte it and fade the back of his head to white. In the dad center of the picture I want to place a much smaller portrait picture cut to an oval.
As for the text I need to place the guy's name across the top and then fill in the area between the 2 oppisite facing shillottes and the central picture with the text about the guy.
I've managed to figure out how to cut the pics tthe way I want them and reverse the one, but how do I size them correctly? The one in the middle is 220x315, it's the only pic of the guy I could find... the 2 shillottes however are from a pic that was 3600x2400.

You might investigate using java script for your furniture presentation. There are a lot of possibilities out there. Some that I've come across are:
Jalbum a free application that has over 100 different skins/themes. This demo page shows some of them: Jalbum Examples. Most are customizable so that you can hide the control bar, set the background color, auto start, etc.

My black screen with white writing and is non responsive

Since this morning, the screen on my iphone 4s randomly went black and the apple logo appeared, the some white writing on the top also appeared. I've tried pressing the lock and home button at the same time several times and charging it but I have had no luck. I've also tried connecting it to my itunes on my laptop but it doesn't respond at all and my laptop doesn't even recognise that its been plugged in.
I've tried to chat online to apple but they need my serial number which i can't get as my phone isn't working properly, I can't open the sim holder and my laptop is new and for some reason itunes doesn't have my iphone info on it unless its plugged in.

tried to simply do a clean install of Mac OS X and
your other software? I normally find that this fixes
90%+ of all unexplained software related issues.
I could, but (a) I'm not convinced it's not related to the replacement logic board and thus a hardware issue, and (b) I can't see to do a clean install because it has no video signal

The icons in the bookmark tool bar are blank and the text that use to be below the icon is gone. I now have to cursor over the blank icons to see the text and the one I want. Can the icon/text customization be returned?

In the Navigation Toolbar, the icons "Back", "Forward" etc. show the small icon and the descriptive text below the Icon. My Bookmark Toolbar use to have the same icon/text format but at some point, possibly a browser update, that changed. Currently, I do have a visible Bookmark Toolbar BUT the icons do not show the website icon, as previously, and the text below each icon is gone. I an cursor over each icon and the text becomes visible next to the icon. This is a bit of a pain to find a bookmark. Can I do a customization to return to the icon/text format.
Was this changed because browser users requested this option, or was it an internal decision.? If the later why make such changes when not requested?

That wasn't a change in Firefox. It sounds like something is broken in your Firefox installation, or you are misunderstanding the different between the Bookmarks Toolbar and the other Toolbars.
In the Bookmarks Toolbar the text appears next to the website icon, not below the icon as with the other two Toolbars, and it's not switchable between text and no text as with the other Toolbars. With both the bookmark icon and the Bookmark name missing, something is broken in your installation. You need to do a little troubleshooting.

If your problem isn't related to an extension, your bookmarks data base file (places.sqlite) is probably corrupt.

Black screen with blinking cursor when installing win 7/vista x64 osx 10.6

i am using bootcamp 3 to install windows 7/vista x64 on osx 10.6.6.when i select install mac reboots and then all i get is a black screen with white cursor.
i have created a 20gb partition with disk utility in fat32 and i had installed windows successfully when i was on osx 10.5.i tried erasing and creating new partition but same problem.
any help will be appreciated

ITunes store is all blank boxes and blue text. How do I fix that?

I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and when I tried to access the iTunes store, 1) it takes FOREVER to come up, 2) it doesn't come up most of the time and is a blank white screen instead 3) when it does come up, it is a bunch of blank white boxes and the text is all in blue. Also the genius doesn't load either and takes forever.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I am really curious if apple has an explanation as to why they shipped the Black MacBooks with white cables and a white remote.

Ipad has black screen with white bar

My ipad2's screen has gone blank. after leaving it uncharged for a good 18 hours. I switched it on to see a blank, black sceen with a white bar moving downwards accross the screen this fades to black.
I have tried charging it for a good 7 hours as I thought maybe the battery has run down and caused this.
I have also tried resetting by pressing the on/off and home button together for 10-15 secs but no luck.
My ipad still synches to my imac okay. I have restored it to factory settings. This didn't help the problem either.
This actually happened when first took the brand new ipad out of the box and tried turning it on for the first time. But it revived itsself after synching to my imac and being on charge for a few minutes. The support technition I spoke to at the time didnt really know why it did this but suggested it was a very low batterry issue. Although I am inclined to think its something else, now its happened again and charging does not seem to work.
Has anyone had the same problem? If so what did you do? Any suggestions on how to fix it would be gratefully recieved.

I Don't know if this will work for anyone else but just FYI - after loading 8.1 on my iPad it froze for several hours on the black screen with white Apple and progress bar underneath. It would not do anything. I thought I was doomed. I accidentay left it sitting overnight without plugging it Back into the charger. I meant to but got sidetracked and thought it was plugged in. During the night the battery was totally drained so this morning my iPad was dead. I plugged it into the charger and after a few minutes the battery icon came up showing it was charging. I gave it about 30 minutes and then turned it on and the new operating system came up. It looks like it might be ok now. I can't say I recommend this, but it worked for me.
