Black Frame.

Hello to all and thanks for your input.
I am new at this and I would like to know how I can generate a black frame and tone bars to lead my project.
Thanks.

Hi -
Everything you are looking for can be found by pressing the Generator button located at the bottom right corner of the Viewer. It has the letter "A" on it.
You can get Bars & Tone in the flavor you want, and you can get Black by selecting "Slug".
Selecting either Bars & Tone or Slug loads them as sources in the Viewer, you can then edit them just like other clips.
Highly recommend the help manuals, they are well written and have tons of info about this stuff.
Hope this helps.

    Hello,

I just figured out - it might be a quicktime viewer problem...

    Hi MyAppleID99,
You may want to check to make sure the clip hasn't been moved back and forth between wide screen and standard aspect ratios; sometimes a combination of letterboxing and pillarboxing can lead to a black frame "windowbox" when playing the final video. You may find the following article helpful:

  • What is the best format to choose when converting mts files to fit well with iMovie? I am using iCoolsoft for conversions and can pick from almost any kind of formats to convert to. I don't want to get the black frames... what do you advice me to pick?

I have lots of MTS files stored on an external hard drive that I want to use in my iMovie films. Now, as you know, iMovie doesn't like them. I have bought iCoolsoft for converting my video files into any format I want but now I've got another problem: what format is the best for iMove? Some of the formats I've tried are giving me a black frame around the video clips and some are bigger and other smaller but anyway I don't want them at all! Can anyone recommend what format to convert to to keep the original clip's size and no frames and still be liked by iMovie to be able to import them?
Much thankful for any kind of support and reply on this one.
    Eva

The format iMovie uses when you edit video after it's imported is Apple Intermediate Codec, it will have the file ending .mov but internally it's set so the Mac can edit individual frames easier and play them back easier at full speed. If you have the option of saving to QuickTime .mov see if there is a pulldown list of all the different "codecs", that's the style or flavor of compression applied to the video frames. If Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) appears on that pull-down list choose that as your codec when you save to .mov.

  • Black frames after export in Premiere CC 2014

    Hi,
I am getting black frames in my exported video from Premiere CC 2014 and Media Encoder CC 2014. This is my first project in the CC 2014 suite, but in CC I never had this problem. When exporting directly from Premiere or queued from Media Encoder, black frames appear at random through out my video. I am using presets H264 HD 720 29.97 and Vimeo 720 29.97. My sequence is ProRes 422 1080 29.97. I am downscaling the final product for online.
I am making no changes to the process at all. Both formats of h264 give me black frames. Has anyone else had this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have also now exported to QuickTime ProRes 720 29.97 and H264 1080 20.97 and still get black frames in the final export. I am using Premiere v8.1 and Media Encoder 8.1.0.122.

  • Black frames at end of render

I'm creating 10 second video loops for playback on a website. But when I export the video, it seems to be adding a black frame at the end of the render, so it skips when it loops.
I've created several of these videos just fine awhile back with the same file, and same preferences. The problem didn't start until I updated to CC 2014.
Anyone have any ideas? Am I just missing something in my render dialogue box?

Thanks for the response, Kevin, I've tried this and it's not the problem. No matter where I mark the in or out—or even if I don't mark them at all—it still adds the black frame.
Now this is where things get interesting. The more I play with my export settings, I'm finding this only happens when I export with as H264. If I export as Quicktime, but with an H264 codec, it's fine.
I just did a test and there is no black frame on my export. Can you try again with a new project and different media?
    Thanks,

  • Media encoder inserts black frame at beginning, when converting my MOV file to H264 for YouTube 720pHD

I'm using Adobe Media Encoder to convert my MOV file to H264, and selecting "YouTube 720pHD" (for Instagram) as I was instructed by someone at Adobe over the phone. But it inserts a black frame at the beginning or end. When I open the converted file on my desktop, the black frame is the first frame. After I upload to Instagram, the black frame is at the end. How can I get rid of the black frame?! Please help!

    Welcome to the furum, Forrest.
Hmmm. I don't recall hearing of that problem. There may not be many users who can offer a solution.
This workaround should work, however: Open the exported movie in QuickTime Player and remove the first frame. (I think it's only the first frame that is black, not the first second. Remove all the black, whatever it is.) Save the movie. That may cause QT Player to save it into a new movie. Use the modified movie for your Web site. QuickTime Pro is required — $30 from Apple.
Note that you've posted in the iMovie 6 forum, not the iMovie HD forum for iMovie 5. There are fewer current iMovie 5 users here. Most were iM5 users, however, so someone might remember this problem.

  • Black frame in embedded quicktime movies in Keynote when exporting to quicktime movie

I've included some quicktime movies made in Photoshop in my Keynote presentation. When viewing the Keynote presentation from within keynote, the movie play perfectly. However when I export the presentation to a Quicktime move, the first or last frame of the embedded movie is black creating a flicker effect on play.
The quicktime movies have been embedded as loopable animations using the animation build in function 'Start movie' (after transition with 0 delay).
Is there a setting that will prevent the black frame on export or is this a bug?

  • IMovie - adding a picture (without black frame below) in the very bottom of a video

    Hello iMoviers,
I'd like to add a picture on top of a movie. As far as I understand this can be done by using iMovie's picture-in-picture feature. The picture, however, is centered in a black frame.
    1) How can I position the picture on the ver bottom of the video, so that there's no black frame below or let's say the picture is not centered anymore?
    2) How can I get rid of the black frames and instead have the video placed below shining through? I saw some green screen approaches, but it seemed to be very  tedious workaround.
Thanks so much for any helpful comments,
    mikkolaus

depends on the version of iM you're using:
in older versions, the pic-in-pic was limited: it allowed only to insert content with the same aspect-ratio as the project itself = 16.9 .... if the pic was square, iM added 'borders' to make it fit.
    Work-around:
make your pics 16:9 by adding transparency, read this in the UseR Tipp section of this board:
How to create a pointer or a custom title
or, update to latest iMovie10 ....
here, a diff. aspect ratio of pic has no 'borders' -effect; .....

  • Soft shadows around photos on a particular website appear as heavy black frames in Firefox 5.0 although they look like proper shadows in Firefox 4.0 and in other browsers. How can I get the shadows to display correctly??

The shadow effect on two sides of the photos on this site looked fine in Firefox 4.0. When I upgraded to 5.0, the heavy black "frames" appeared in place of the shadows. No change had been made to the website between the time I looked at it in 4.0 and 5.0 (I know because I know the builder of the site). Indeed, it was only about an hour between my two viewings. So I figure the odd appearance has to have something to do with 5.0. But what? Is this fixable? Or do I need to wait for 5.1?

That is either a bug in Firefox 5 or the script has a problem with Firefox 5.<br />
It works in all other Firefox versions like Firefox 3 and 4 and 6 (Aurora) and 7 (Nightly).

  • Quick Look for videos blinking black frames

When previewing any video file in Mountain Lion, I get a 50% black frame strobe as well as a frame strobe every half second or so.
This does not happen in QuickTime X or QuickTime 7.
Has anyone else seen this? This is on my 2011 MacBook Pro 15in.

I'm having this issue too. Intermittant frame dips to grey or black. Definitely not in the source video, as FCP7 plays it back just fine.
Had this issue ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I've seen the issue on another machine that wasn't mine, although I don't know if it was on Mountain Lion or not.
Strange that Apple is being quiet about this.

  • Black frames in QT after converting from HDV to ProRes 422

I've been making a movie, shot in HDV 25p. In the timeline, everything plays fine, but when converted to ProRes422 via 'export to Quicktime Movie', I get black (dropped?) frames every now and then, on an irregular basis. Can be every 40 frames or every 90, but they're all over the movie. Worse still: the last 10 seconds of the movie are 'lost' in the QT-version, it comes to a freeze frame while the sound runs on.
When I make the QT movie with a different setting (HDV-25p instead of ProRes422), the end is allright, but I still keep getting the black frames. Of course these black frames are visible in the movie, it looks like the movement stutters.
Also tried QT with AIC codec, but to no avail.
I never experienced this before, although I used this workflow several times.
I need to make a Bluray disk via Toast. Any suggestions of how to get rid of the black frames?

    Concertpix wrote:
...Now render before exporting to QT, I suppose?
You don't really have to. Exporting is kinda the same as rendering. Only thing is that if you do not render before export, FCP does not 'remember' this rendering.
If you think you'll needs parts of the render files later, you might render first.
Others in this forum do deliberately throw away the renders before they export, in order to avoid artifacts. Personally I prefer to see rendered footage before I export. I can see what I am sending to the export-application then. Haven't have any trouble so far.
    So. It's up to you.

  • "Black Frame" suddenly appeared

A black frame has "suddenly" appeared on my screen. It is about 1/16 in. wide, rectangular and about 3/4 the total size of my iBook screen. It will move (with my cursor), doesn't go beyond the screen dimensions and doesn't seem to affect usage other than being a nuisance. Wasn't there yesterday. Have worked with the posted "Universal Access" & "Voice Over" suggestions -- but that had no effect. I use OS-X and upgraded to version 10.4.8 which I downloaded today.
Would appreciate any ideas on how to retire my "black frame."
    Bob

It's ANOTHER "Universal Access" feature. Go to the "Seeing" pane and click the Zoom "Options..." button. Uncheck "Show preview rectangle when zoomed out".

  • Output only with "black frame"??

Hi there, I am editing rendered animations from cinema4d, which are in the format 768x480 (image on the right). I´ve been trying everything to export them in exactly that format in QT. I can´t find any export option to get a movie with a screen that is 768x480. Instead it is 720x480 (?), but the moving pictures cover only the center of the final window and leave a huge black frame around it (image on the left). Even if I set compression to "none" (which seems the only way to edit the pixel size of the export format manually) the frame appears (and the movie is in a very bad quality).  I need the movie for a client who will present it on a Windows PC, yet I wanted to finish everything using QT and then convert the final QT into WMV by using QTpro. Can somebody help?
    Thanx
Premiere Pro CS4 on MAC OSX 10.5.8

What options does Cinema4D allow, regarding the Frame Size, PAR and CODEC choices?
I'd suggest exploring those choices, finding the best combo, and then setting your Sequence/Project Preset to match. Note: you may have to use the Desktop (Custom) Preset, and then adjust the various setting to match your Cinema4D footage exactly. Your Sequence/Project Preset (and settings in Desktop Mode) MUST match your source footage 100%, or you will get things like black bars.
Good luck, and PrPro should be able to accommodate you on the Mac, so long as the Preset matches your source footage, and you should have some control over that source footage.

  • After Effects exports picture as a black frame?

I just graded a simple picture in AE and after I exported the picture I went to look at the image file and all It was was a black frame. I'ved tried different formats, and I've tried exporting it as a .psd for photoshop but it still won't work. Can somebody help me with this?

You have not provided proper information on your file and settings nor your system. Based on your tags we can assume that you are using MB Colorista and then you may simply exhaust its limits or there is a general issue with your graphics hardwre, since the effect uses GPU acceleration.
