Black Friday Insignia 39" LED 1080p 60Hz HDTV

So this a two part question:
This is my first back Friday that I want to take part of. They're two deals that interest me. The $179 40 inch Toshiba and the insignia 39" LED....
First, for people that have experience. I am looking to hop in line around 5 am on thanksgiving. With the new hours is that too late?
Also does anyone know the black Friday price for the Insignia?

I suggest you do regular surveillance of your store. If you've got a lot of time on your hands, log off immediately and get in line/start one.

  • Insignia 39" LED 1080p 120Hz TV

Just bought and set up a 39" Insignia 1080p 120Hz LED tv. It's connected to my cable box via HDMI but the tv says the picture is 720p and 60Hz. I've tried almost every HD channel and they all say 720p. The box and manual both say the tv should be 1020p capable. What am I doing wrong?

Pretty much all TV stations only use 720p.
For OTA, FOX and ABC are 720p, NBC and CBS are 1080i.
There's a slightly out of date listing of Sat/Cable channels here, I doubt the resolutions have changed though.

    Hello outlawmen,
Our Deal of the day offers are only valid on their specified day and this offer was only good for 5/11/13. While the movie itself is still available, it would no longer be at the Deal of the Day price.

  • Black Friday TV Deals

So I'm thinking of upgrading to a bigger size TV.  Wanted opinions on the deals for Black Friday.  I was looking at the SHARP 60" LED 1080P 120hz for $999.99.  But I'm kinda dissapointed that SEARS has same set right now for same price.  There are also reviews suggesting picture is not as great as higher 'SMART' model.  Would've hoped for a better Black Friday deal as price is same as SEARS.  I'm also looking at the Toshiba 50" LED 1080P 60hz for $399.99.  I'm not too thrilled about the brand and specs, but seems like a good deal at that price.  The other deal is the Panasonic 55" LED 1080P 120hz SMART 3D at $899.99.  Bundled soundbar and wireless subwoofer for additional $150.  I don't HAVE to have SMART/3D but it seems like good option at that price.  What do you all think?

The Toshiba TV may SEEM like a good deal - only problem is Best Buy's Black Friday ad is deceptive.  Best Buy doesn't even have any 40" Toshiba HDTVs.   NONE!!  Channel 19 News (Cleveland) reported on one poor soul who started camping out at Best Buy last Thursday.  That poor customer was talking about the money he 'knows' he'll save on the 40" Toshiba by being the first in line for Black Friday.  BB has known for days they don't even have the product but hasn't bothered to post this information at the door.   I'm not wasting my time or $ shopping at Best Buy.  Wal-Mart .... here I come!!

You should have simple clicked on the Specifications tab:

No, it is not a SmartTV.
No, it has no USB input.
No, you cannot connect a USB dongle and get WI-Fi.
No, you will not get Netflix/YouTuve in this price range.
When shopping the lowest tier of TVs, you will have to realize that the bells and whistles will be few and far between.
If you want the tings you listed built in to your TV, then you'll have to look at higher priced models.

Stores do nothing to "tweak" channels in the store. TVs have many dozens of settings that can be changed by a user at home, and sometiems have presets to switch between certain values that the manufacturer has deemed "optimal" for certain viewing situations. If none of the preset settings offer the picture you desire, you will either need to learn how to change the settings to fit your viewing situation, or pay for a professional calibration.
It took me almost 6 months before I got my TV settings the way that I wanted them to be, using the calibration settings on various Disney DVDs, Star Wars DVDs, and special calibration DVDs, and constantly having a critical eye for everything I watched. After all of that time and effort, my TVs are about as close to profesionally calibrated as I can get them.
Have you had Time Warner out to the house to verify that it's not actually a cable problem? Just because they put "bigger cables" in the ground doesn't mean that the signal to your home is any better. Most cable and satellite companies compress their signal quite a bit on HD, and the quality suffers as a result.

  • Purchased Creative Cloud complete on Black Friday for $40/mo, I've been charged twice and can't find out how to license my trial. PLEASE HELP!

I signed up and purchased a discount plan of Creative Cloud Complete for $40/mo for the first year on Black Friday (11/28/14). I downloaded the Creative Cloud desktop app as well as Lightroom and Photoshop a few days later when my new computer came in. They have both reached the trial limit (I'm not even sure why it put me as a trial when I had already purchased Creative Cloud Complete). Since then I have downloaded and installed AE and PR and they have about 15 days left on the trial. My account has now been charged $40 twice. The first time was on 11/28/14 when I signed up, and the second time was on 12/29/14. Both were for the amount of $39.99. When I log into my Adobe Creative Cloud account online, it's asking me if I'm "ready to buy?". Why does it say this if I have already purchased a plan? How do I get the information to license all of the software? Nowhere in my account settings can I find a way to license all of the Creative Cloud programs I have installed. Please help! I have tons of projects I need to be working on and cannot afford any delays!
