Black iChat USB demo box

In the middle of my webcam sending screen, there is a black bar that says iChat USB demo box and I don't know how to get rid of it. I have a Logitech QuickPro 4000 and I downloaded the video viewer and they said it wasn't their problem. Does anyone know what's up or how to fix it???

Hi Rebecca,
You need to pay for the iChatUSBCam demo http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/

  • IChat USB problem with seemingly no solution

I am working on a PowerPC g5(10.4.10) and am trying to get my webcam(Logitech Quickcam 4000) to work through a program called iChat USB(http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/).
The webcam worked last year on my mini mac, but after moving to a new computer it will not work.
When I open the video function of a iChat it says, "Camera in use by another application". Well, its not. I have close all application, unplugged and replugged my USB cable. Downloaded Macccam.Downloaded the logitech drivers. Nothing works.
One odd thing I tried was plugging the webcam into my keyboard. When doing this the green light stays on(i cant remember if it did this on my mini(10.3.9), but it doesnt do it on my g5) But while plugged into the keyboard I do not have enough USB power.
This is coming from a guy who is 600 miles away from his girlfriend for a year, and he needs your help. So if you have any ideas, or know of a webcam that might work (I have herd somthing about the xbox 360 webcam) please let me know.
    Thank you so much

    eacahill:
Unplug the camera, shut down the computer.
    Start up in Safe Mode
    Login and empty Trash.
    Restart normally and log in.
    Connect camera
Repair Disk Permissions in Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Go to Apple menu > About this Mac > More Info > Hardware > USB
Please post back and let me know what you find.
    Good luck.

  • Modbus demo box website images do not load

the images on the website http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/A9C037C838B203FA86256A180078BE15
for the question "How do I communicate with the Modbus Demo Box" do not load.  In fact they are pointing to a url which begins with ae.natinst.com which is not a valid website.
Please fix or advise what the slave address should be for the box.  In essence what should be the Serial Modbus Settings to communicate with the Demo Box?
    Thanks.

Thank You for reporting this error, the images are being hosted on our internal server by accident. I will make the changes to the images in the KB and the link should be working in a few days in the mean time I have posted the images from the KB below in order.

  • Demo Box

    Hello all
We just got our demo box and have tried to configure it to work within our network but have had problems doing it.
I installed CCA 1.6 in my work station (which has 2 NIC's) and when I tried running the setup wizard, it tells me that the connection failed when trying to set up the UC500.
I disconnected my work station from the network and tried it again...no success. Both NIC's have DHCP enabled, but neither one is getting an IP address from the UC500. Any ideas how to get this up and running? Currently in our network, we have a router, a PoE switch, an MS SBS box (DNS & DHCP), and a VoIP system (Linksys Voice System).
We would really like it if we could have the Cisco system on the side so we can play around with it and only use it for voice...for now.
    Any help is appreciated.
    S.R.

Alright, so I borrowed a laptop and was able to connect to the UC500 using putty and the serial cable. However, it seems I'm in something called rommon mode. I read a little bit online but can't seem to boot to the actual router. When I type dev I get this:
    Devices in device table:
    id name
    flash: external compact flash
When I type reset, the system reboots...but I always get this line "Readonly ROMMON initialized"...blah blah blah. Suddenly, I see this other line: " Unexpected exception to CPU: vector 200, PC = 0x801762B4, LR = 0x8002B910.....SOME STUFF I DON'T UNDERSTAND....Writing crashinfo to flash:crashinfo_*******
    Queued messages:
    No warm reboot storage
***System received a bus error exception*** etc etc"
I don't know if this helps.
As far as I understand, it is supposed to boot to the router image but it's not doing it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    S.R.

  • Thunderbolt Demo box vlan support

We recently got one of the Thunderbolt Demo Boxes and hooked it up. I did not see any configuration to support vlans. Does the device not discover past layer2? Is there configuration in the device I am missing. Potentially something like added in subnet that it can scan?

I wanted to give an update to this. The Thuderbolt is still in demo at this time so I did get with my point of contact at Cisco. Their response is below but basically there will be features added as the device life goes on. Currently it does not work with multiple vlans.
"currently Thunderbolt discovers devices over the native VLAN, but we realize that discovery on multiple VLANs is necessary on many fronts, so we're planning for it in a future release. You could, however, manually add devices to your network, provided you know the device type, IP address and MAC address. All you need to do is mark the device which the added device is connected to, and click the '+' icon at the top of the topology. Fill in the details and the device will be created for you."

  • Black screen with white boxes?

I restarted my macbook about an hour ago, and it started up, then all I saw was a black screen with white boxes everywhere. I managed to login, but I can't see anything. Attached is what I see on my screen.

    Hi maxh231,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are not seeing video on your MacBook display, try these troubleshooting steps first:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
You can find the steps above and more information here:

  • New black MacBook, USB issue

I have a friend (no, seriously) that just made "the switch" and moved to a black MacBook at my urging. It's brand new, but from day 1 he has been complaining that anything he plugs into one of the USB ports keeps dropping out randomly. He said he found on some website that this is just a MacBook issue and that the solution is to use the other port. Then today he said the other one intermittently started drop out too.
I say it's broken, he should send it back and get a new one... but I don't know enough about the MacBooks to tell him that it's a unique issue.
Anyone else seen anything like this?

    Hey guys.
I use Scratch Live also, and BTW its Serato.
anyway, this is quite the problem over at Scratchlive.net
Many of the users have run tests and have come to the conclusion that when the SL1 box is plugged into the "bad" port, that being the USB closest to the firewire cable, it is somehow linked to the track pad, and therefore goes into some kind of sleep mode. If you leave the trackpad alone, when the SL1 box is plugged into that port, let it sit for 20 seconds, then touch the pad you will get a drop out.
This is the case for both the MBP, and the MB.
The funny thing is...when we run Scratch Live in windows XP, using bootcamp...the problem is not there, WHAT-SO-EVER.
So this is obviously a Mac OSX issue.
The problem still persists and I've got the Developer versions of 10.4.9, and still the problem is there.
This isnt just a case for Scratch Live either, it happens with ANY audio interface that is plugged into the bad port.
I.E. Mbox, Scratch Live...anything USB audio interface related.
So hope this helps and check the link...its a big problem in this DJ community.
    lol.
    help?
any Developers out there that can write a code that prevents the track pad going into sleep mode?

  • Black pop up / text box

I suddenly have a black & white pop up or text box appearing on my Mac. It seems to describe in the text field every action I make on the computer including what I am typing. At the same time if I am on a webpage it highlights each cell or window describing what it contains and makes it impossible for me to scroll through the page always popping back to where it is highlighting. I suspect my three year old is responsible for this! Please help if you can.

Turn off VoiceOver in the Universal Access or Accessibility pane of System Preferences.

  • Black border around dialog box, buttons, and everywhere

It's just started behaving bit crazy. Suddenly black borders started appearing everywhere with Leopard. I have tried to restart the machine a few times but no luck. They appear with OS dialog boxes, around buttons, Safari, Most of the applications, text fields and everywhere.
Please help if anyone has a solution. Thanks

I think the issue is caused by the Apple Voiceover Utility. Part of its function for the visually impaired is to highlight the button or text item that it is going to speak. i suggest you turn off Voice over either going to System Preferences -> Universal Access and Making sure that voiceover is turned off. Alternatively press Apple(Command) F5 to turn it on & off. The black rectangles should go away. If you want voiceover but not the black rectangles. You can open the voice over utility and change the settings to the text is still spoken but without the highlighting.

  • Remove Google Talk ID from iChat new account box

    Hello,
I recently set up an iChat account with a private email account just to test the software, but I want to delete the account.  I have gone into the menu under preferences and deleted the account within iChat.  However, whenever I open iChat again, the dialog box to start up a new account still shows my email address under the Google Talk option.  As this is a private email address, I don't want this to display when I open iChat.  I have deleted the entry from the keychain access, which helped to get rid of the password, but did not get rid of the ID being stored someplace.  I have also deleted all of the preference files for ichat from my library folder, as well as everything from the ichat folder under Library/Caches.  However, when I start up ichat again, this email still is being stored and pops up in the account setup window.
Can someone please help me figure out where this information is being stored and how to delete it?  I have tried setting up a new google talk account, trying to replace it.  The new account gets set up, but once I delete it and open ichat again, the original unwanted id is still there.
Thank you very much for any assistance!

    Hi,
IF you were starting with the Start Up Screens for iChat you an enter any Info in the AIM (@mac.com/Mobileme options) or Jabber/Google Screens as required as you go.
Those are then seen in iChat > Preferences >Accounts.
Deleting an Accounts/Screen Name here leave the ID used in the Keychain
Deleting the .plist for iChat (Namely com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist) does not stop iChat calling back that info from the Keychain ----- IF ------- you also happen to delete com.apple.ichat.plist at the same time (Forces the Start Up screens to Re-appear) at which point any Keychain info is "recovered".
    Solution.
Go to the Applications/Utilities folder and Launch Keychain Access.
    Go to the Password section.
Find the relevant entry and double click it.
This will open an Info window for this item
You can click the show Password box and then fill in the Allow Dialogue box to see it.
You can delete just the password.
You could delete the whole entry.
You can use the Access Control Tab to limit it to the app that should use the info. (i.e Mail if it is an email)
As a standard action deleting the account in iChat and then the Keychain references for the password should be enough with then restarting iChat
The first rewrites the iChat .plists that hold any info.
The restart of iChat cannot then access the Keychain info as it does not exist (the account is not in iChat to even ask for it).
    One more possible to check.
Certain Email Addresses are also iChat Valid Names.
The Address Book will be read and  @mac.com And MobileMe names, as they are Valid AIM names will be  placed  in the Start Up Screens even if they are not placed in the AIM name spot for IM names in the Card when you start up iChat for the "First Time"  (First time includes the double com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist with com.apple.ichat.plist deletions and restart)

  • Black out of the box?

Does lumia phones now come along with black update out of the box? Or we have to get it updated ourself once purchased!

Hi Jayacol, Lumia 1520, 1320 and 525 are shipped with Lumia Black pre-installed. The rest of the devices (excluding Lumia 810, 720T and 925T) will receive the update over-the-air. This means you have to update the phone manually by going to Settings > Phone Update.
You may refer to the below link for the global roll-out of the update. Status depending on the country, variant and device may vary.

  • Black dot in text box, can't enter texg

    Hello,
I have a black dot in both text boxes, and when I try to enter text, the canvas gets "crazy" on the left side. I fixed it this morning, but now I have it again, and I can't recall what I did to fix it.
    Thank you

Your guess is correct, Sir Doug of Gilmore, as is your suggestion to create a new track.
The black dot appears when the selected track is a graphic or other object, such as a background.
To the original poster and asker of questions, LiveType treats eveything as if it were typeable. Press any key and your object will appear once more, in so far as that it fits in the frame.
Please do not ask which one is the "Any" key.
Disclaimer: "typeable" is not neccessarily a word that you will find in a dictionary.

  • Ichat USB camera

Is there any way that you can use a usb webcam with ichat as if it were an isight so that its fully compatable with ichat. As apart from the rediculously expensive isights now i can't find a firewire camera anywhere.

Again Apple refuse to acknowledge those who don't have bags of cash to upgrade to a new machine every year, if their computers weren't so robust maybe we would have to. Yes bulit to last however to stay in the game you have to keep upgrading, so no new cameras, no new support....
Thank god for third party software, these are the mac'ers that do care. Anyway to get your USB cam to work install the above (www.macam.com) and also download and install 'Application Enhancer' at www.unsanity.com.
I have a Logitech Quickcam Express on my Powerbook and it now works fine. I have tested it on two machines and ichatAV is working fine with this camera. However i suspect if your chatting with other ichat users they may need to have this software installed too. Although I haven't tested it with other users. Hope it works for you.
