Black ipod over white

I don't have a serious question, but I'd like opinions if possible. I'm planning on buying a video ipod and I'd really like the black one, but I was told that scratches show up really heavily on the black ipod.
I plan on buying a case/cover for it anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem, but I was wondering if anyone who has a black one has a real problem with scratches and/or fingerprints?
iMac, G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I have a black IPOD and while it really looks cool, yes it
does show scratches and fingerprints, quite heavily in fact.
I am hoping Apple will do something about this in the future. Even with a cover you still have to be careful.
Don't let this stop you from not considering buying a black
one. It's a slick looking device and videos look good on it.

  • Black iPod with White earplug?

My uncle just got his Black iPod he ordered. But it came with white earplugs! What is the sense in that? It doesn't look good to have Black iPod with White wire sticking out of it! Is this the norm, or did the dude who did the packaging put in the white ones instead of blacks?

Nope your uncle got the correct ones, they only come in Apple White

  • Curiosity - Black iPod with white/grey headphones

    hey,
i just got my iPod like 3 weeks ago. I thought it was wierd at the time but particularly now (b/c i got a black iFM).
My iPod is black but my headphones aren't. I thought they made black versions of those earbuds that come with. In any case, these are white where it plugs into the iPod and the actual ear piece but the rest (the wire) is sorta grey.
Is this normal? I guess the only other possibility is that there was a screw up with packaging but what are the odds on that?
    just thoughts,
    Thanks

Yes this is normal They probably did it because a lot of people want to show off that they have iPods and people recognize white earbuds as belonging to iPods

  • 5TH Generation iPod's:  White OR Black?

Before I begin here, these boards are a mess! I just returned as a new user after being here years ago and I have to tell you, these boards have really gone down hill as far as stuff being catagorized correctly. Also there are no 'general boards' for the iPod's, very frustrating! Not to mention that when I signed up with an Apple ID, I then couldn't use that same ID to post on the forums, I had to use the # 0's in my ID in order to use what I wanted...
Anyways I'm back again for another iPod. I really was interested in the BLACK 30GB OR 60GB model but I have heard numerous reviews that the BLACK iPod's will get scratched up as soon as you touch the thing...by just holding it!? And that any scratch or marks stick out like a soar thumb. Most people are telling me to forget about getting a black one and just stick with a white one.
What do you guys recommend? I REALLY wanted a black one, as I'm a huge fan of black with technology products but if it's going to look like trash after a week of owning it, I would just rather stick with the white one.
    Any suggestions, comments, etc?
    Thanks!
P.S. Just out of curiosity, if I do get a black model, I'm going to assume that the black models also come with BLACK earbuds and not white ones?

I have Green iPod Mini 4 GB. I didn't buy a protective cover for it. Now it seems like it has survived from World War II barely (Hey It still working propebly).
I buyed new iPod Video 60 GB Black of course. I buy zCover for it. Okay it was not cheap but it will protect my iPod.
It is good to by docking station. I buyed it, because I dropped my iPod mini few times while loading music to it.
For headphones. If you want soundquality forgot iPod own and buy goodones. I don't use earbuds but I buyed Koss Sporta Pro headphones. Sounds are like whole new world now.

  • Find my iphone - picture has changed from a black ipod to a white one

My son's black ipod touch has gone missing, and we've tracked it using Find My Iphone to a house 15 miles away.
Strangely, the picture of the ipod has changed from a black ipod touch to a white one.
Is there something that the person who has "found" the ipod can do to affect this, or is it possible that the tracking has gone awry?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    jb

I noticed the same thing on mine. The Apple Store Genius informed me that after the white iPod touch came out, they began using that as the stock photo. If you asked Apple to check their records for devices registered to you, it would show up as the proper color - black.

I'm bustin' your chops.  Some call it humor, some don't have a sense for it....
The real point is Kappy gave you a link to a list of video demonstrations of changing the digitizer to show you that what you intend to do can in fact be done.  However, not once but TWICE you questiofed what was freely given to you, and you obviously didn't take the time or make any effort to find out if white framed digitizers are available.
The fact of the matter is, white framed digitizers are available, and rather inexpensively I might add.
My post with the outrageous prices was intended to trigger some of your obviously dormant gray matter into some form of activity that might just resemble intelligent human thought and maybe generate a giggle or two.  Guess I was wrong....  But at least now I know why you have a picture of a box of rocks for your avatar....

Wow. I have not seen that question nor a discussion. I agree with James. I don't think it will, and if the power drain is different, maybe it'll be less and not more.
With a 10 hour battery, you have plenty of time to test it and see. If the battery depletes fast, just go back to the other way.
If you do try it, let us know what you discover.
    Thanks ! !

  • Could you trade in a black ipod touch for a white one

    Hello,
I bought an IPod Touch 32GB in January 2011 and I really want an Apple IPod Touch the color of white and same GB as the one I bought.
I was wondering if I could trade my black IPod Touch to the Apple Retail Store. I bought my ipod in a different store which I do not think I could exchange it.
Please give me answers ASAP please...
    Thank You, very much

If you didn't buy the iPod at the Apple Store, they aren't obligated to take it back. It's like you buying a greeting card at Hallmark and then trying to return it at a CVS store. Regardless, Apple standard return policy is 14 days.

  • Black screen with white apple logo won't go away! Help please.

Last night I turned theipod completeley off and restarted it. The black screen with the white apple logo came on and hasn't went of since.
I've tried everything I could find in the forums and on the support page.
iTunes will not recognize my ipod which has continously tried to start up again every 5 minutes.
I don't know what more to do, ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dana

I did try that. When I do that the red slider bar to turn the ipod off doesn't come up.
Its still trying to reset itself but won't go any farther than the black screen with white apple.

  • PLEASE HELP!!! Black Screen with white curser at startup...

at startup after grey screen fan turns on and screen turns black with a white curser in the upper left. Then one line of text shows saying something to do with single user mode failed with a bunch of other text. (sorry I didn't write it down) It then vanishes for a minute with just the white curser remaining and repeats.
    Ran hardware test... everything OK
I have repaired permissions which took almost an hour of CD.
I tried repairing disk failed " Invalid Key Length, volume check failed" twice.
I am currently running os off external backup HD.
I tried doing a archive and install but said I could not because the my os software(10.4.11) was newer than my original CD (10.4), is that correct?
I do not know what to do? Please help!!!!

You will need to reinstall OS X, but you cannot do an Archive and Install until you repair the drive. See the following:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • Agent 18 Shield for Black iPod 5G

Does the Agent 18 shield look good for the black iPod? Or does the white look better using this particular case?

I thought someone left a comment in the apple store about it making the black ipod look a little dull, but here are some pictures a guy from another forum took of his:

you serious man? you're quote their 80s models as an

    been white (their laptops/ipods/imacs)
I can't help it if "always" to you only means the last seven or so years. My last powerbook was grey.
if you think the choice to include a white powercord
was a deliberate aesthetic choice (and not a matter

I was just asking. If I had an idea why then I wouldn't have posted the question.
basically to me this is such an asenine aspect to
worry about that its ability to "annoy you" just
    perplexes me
Uh, I'm really unconcerned with what perplexes you. I am perplexed as to why they would ship a black computer with a different color accessories. If price actually IS the reason for this and not just a guess on your part then answer the question. If you don't know then don't answer it.
Now you are beginning to annoy me.

How did I manage to turn this on and more important, how can I turn it off?
    Thanks.
