Black line on Retina display

Dear support community,
today I realized a fine black line on the left side (Portrait, home button down) of the retina display of my new iPad. I´ve never seen it before. Is it normal/standard? Or how can I get rid of it?
Best regards, Supwolf

Suggests a hardware problem.  Try unpowering it and turning it back on.

  • Black Line in LCD Display - N95 Problem

I'm using a nokia N95 Finland Made Phone.
Yesterday i noticed a small black line in the display. Then after few hours the length of the black line was increased. Still its increasing but in a very slow manner, intially i thort it was a virus i used kaspersky to scan but no virus found, then did hard reset, no good
Please Help me to fix this problem
    Thnxx in advance.

The alternative is to leave the screen as it is, with the black line.
This is a hardware failure. You can't fix it by pressing a few keys.

  • Ssrs 2008 r2 black line incorrectly being displayed

In an existing SSRS 2008 r2 report, I just added a page header so that I can display global values in the page header like run date, run time, and page number. Within the report header, I placed all the report header data within a rectangle. Now when I run
the report, there is a black line appearing after the report header but before the details of the report.
I have changed all the border colors to be white and the borderstyle to none. The black solid line between last part of report header to before the detail data keeps appearing.
Thus can you tell me how to keep this black line from end of pageheader or rectangle to before the detail data from appearing?

    Hi wendy,
According to your description, I taken a simple test in my local environment (SSRS 2008R2). In my scenario, I insert a page header in the report, then use a rectangle to contain all the items (such as global values) within the page header after creating
a table in the report body. While everything goes well, and there is no such a black line between page header and report body.
As per my understanding, may be you have set the BorderColor property to Black and BorderStyle to Solid of Page header or Rectangle or Report Body. So we can double check those item properties in the report.
If this issue still exists, could you please post the .rdl file and your dataset with sample datato us by the following E-mail address?  It is benefit for us to do further analysis.

  • Black iPad with Retina Display Help

When I watch videos I downloaded in full screen, the screen gets very light and bright. Why does it do that?

I'm not sure why it would do that except that the (auto brighten) feature is trying to match the screen brightness of the movie filled entire screen to the ambient light. If the movie is being viewed in a smaller screen the iPad is trying to match the screen to the ambient light but in reduced mode their is much more on your screen than just the movie. If the brightness bothers you that can be changed under your settings app.

  • After changing my new mac book pro retina display new one have black lines and patches all over my screen

i am regular user of apple products never face such kind of problem,my new macbook pro retina display first have white spot and lines on my display after claming they chnage my dispaly and its surprizing me when i saw new display it has all over black paches and lines i am really disappointed ,a product claim best display ever has such kind of problem ,i want soloution ,at least if they have problem they exchange me with regular display screen dont need retina,

This really isn't something that we can help with. We're just other Mac users like yourself, only we don't live in Pakistan. (None of the experts who participate here live in Pakistan, to my knowledge.)
This problem should be covered under warranty, but if there aren't any authorized Apple service providers in Pakistan, getting warranty service may not be easy. But I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to handle such a problem in Pakistan. You'll need to contact Apple. The number for Apple in Pakistan is listed here:

  • How do you fix colored lines on Macbook Pro with Retina Display?

I have had my Macbook Pro 13" Retina display for over a year now, I recently opened it up and there were several green and blue lines running down the screen.  When I apply pressure to the bottom of the screen, where the black border is, some of the lines disappear.  It is progressively getting worse.  I don't believe it suffered any trauma.  It is a problem with the screen, not the GPU or anything else.  I was hoping there is a way to fix it without have to spend over $300 to get the screen replaced.  It is not under warranty.  Any advice?

That's why Apple no longer sells disks. All its software is now available on the App Store. So you can either purchase/download the iWork components from there, or, if you have access to another Mac with an optical drive, share the DVD from that across the network (System Preferences - Sharing - turn CD/DVD sharing on) and install that way.

  • Is it possible to connect my 2008 black macbook, to my new 2014 macbook pro retina display screen to make a dual monitor. If this is possible what cables would I need to buy?

You can try using Screen Sharing in the Sharing preferences. Or try a third-party utility such as ScreenRecycler.

  • Black screen on MacBook Pro Retina Display after installing Moutain Lion. Need Help!

My macbook pro (retina) screen went black after I installed Mountain Lion.
I got a HDMI cable to another monitor and the image worked nicely there.
But i cant get it back on my MacBook Pro! I tried taking out the HDMI cable, restarting, searching on settings configs..
    What should I do?
Are there any drivers i should install to get image back on my MacBook Pro Retina Display?
Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks in advance for all the help.

That helped me finding other people with similar problems.
But there is a major difference!
-They have a black screen after they login.
-My screen is black NOW! And I'm only using my BRAND NEW rmbp with the HDMI cable to my TV!
This isnt good at all and I would like to solve it asap..
I tried reinstalling Mountain Lion, taking out the hdmi cable and rebooting many times.
    Until now, nothing!
Is my screen broken or maybe my video card has some problems?
I hope not! I just traveled from the US to Brazil and I dont want to search for an Apple Store here.
Any tips or ideas are welcome, thank you.

  • Vertical Lines on MacBook Pro Retina Display

I have vertical green lines on the display of a 15" MacBook Pro with Retina screen.  Getting progressively worse with additional lines and colors.  Not due to any abuse or damage.

Well not much of a mystery,  your GPU/cable/connection is failing.

  • MacBook Pro retina display goes black while outputting video through HDMI to external monitor??

I frequently connect my MacBook Pro to my 42inch Panasonic TV to watch movies/videos. I use VLC media player for all my playback. The problem I'm running into is that when I put VLC media player into fullscreen mode on my external display, my retina display goes black (I can still see the finder bar at the top and when I mouse down the dock appears but the rest of the display shows all black. If I click on Safari it will open but I can't see it on my MacBook display unless I take the external display out of fullscreen mode.
I would still like to be able to do things on my MacBook while video is playing. I've played around with the display settings but they're pretty limited and I can't figure out how to get it to work the way I'd like. I've seen people having up to 3 or 4 displays hooked up, I'm just trying to hookup one. I would consider this a severe limitation of OS X if I'm not able to separately manage the displays. Hopefully there is a setting or something I'm just not seeing. Thanks.

Yeah, fullscreen mode still doesn't play nice with multiple monitors. The common workaround is to stretch the window out to the edges of the screen instead of using actual fullscreen mode.

  • Powerbook display BLACK LINE OF DEATH

Well, I just spent most of my evening replacing the LCD screen on my old G3 Wallstreet. My old display was showing neon greens and magentas in the blacks so I decided to replace it. I received an awesome factory display in what looked like perfect condition.
I haven't replaced a display on a Wallstreet before and it was a mess. I was quite pleased with myself at the end that I somehow got everything back together without any leftover parts.
Well, needless to say after some backlight problems and tearing it apart twice I finally got it up and running.
    But...
Now I have a diagonal black line going down my screen. It's about as thick as a sharpie line and it worries me.
Did I goof somewhere or did I get gipped on my new display? I've tried restarting and I'm keeping it on for an hour or so to make sure it doesn't start smoking, heh.
    Any suggestions/answers?

    I give up.
It's most likely a bad cable but now it is also running much slower than usual, too. I think I'm going to abandon this project for now.
Poor Wallstreet. I tried. I really did.

  • E90 Horizontal Black Line in LCD Cover Display

Recently noticed a small black horizontal line in E90 cover LCD display. Line was getting longer and shorter througout the day. Sometimes stretching across the entire width of the display. Updated the phone's software but no use. Nokia Careline advisor suggested removing the battery, SIM card and memory card for 15 minutes, but this did not help either. In the end, took the phone to the Nokia Care Centre where they admitted this is a common hardware problem with Nokia displays. They even have a problem code associated with this 'Black line in LCD'. Phone is under warranty and is with them for repair.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Phone back from repair and line is gone. Not sure what they did!

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

I noticed the bright spots on the ipad retina display in a black image. Used only 2 weeks.is it normal?

No its not normal. I'm not sure how big these bright spots are, but it could be a hardware problem. Without more details, I would suggest that you take it to an Apple Store or take it back to wherever you bought it and let the, evaluate the iPad.
