Black Line through Video

Im creating a video presentation for my community colleges Graphics / Multimedia Department. Ive used FCE very little so im still a novice.
I create some text in LiveType and made a video clip of it. In FCE i imported the text and the Lower Third it was going to go onto. The lower third video however was not in the correct position so I had to position it lower.
Every time I Export the video a Black Line appears at the top of the lower third clip in my video and fades with the transition. However in the preview there is no line.
I have a deadline to meet and would really like to know how to get ride of the line..

Cropped of the top of that clip, problem solved. I feel like a idiot.

A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this:
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Just bought a cannon eos 70d and every picture I take has black lines through it....?

Welcome, Rachel. Can you post one or two examples of pictures with black lines through them? That might help us figure out what's wrong.
One quick thing to try - format your memory card inside the camera and see if that helps. Yellow wrench menu #1, last item, and press SET. WARNING! This will erase all pictures on your card, so if there are important pictures on there, copy them to your computer first.

Thick black line through iPad 1- will screen replacement work?

There is a 2 inch black line through the width of my iPad 1. iPad is out if warranty and apple genius told me the only fix would be to buy another one. Could I fix this issue through replacing the LCD screen? Any suggestions would help.

Might. Might not. Could be part of the backlight is bad. Could be the equivalent of the graphics card is bad.
Dunno how much your screen replacement is but you may want to weigh that cost against it not working and you paying and still not having a functioning device.

Black lines through .pdf images

I'm using Word 2007 and Adobe Pro X. The figures I insert into my Word file are .pdf's that have been converted to .tiff or .png files. When I create a .pdf directly from my Word file, my figures end up with thick black lines running through them. If I just go to file > print > Adobe pdf, then my images print fine. The only problem with that though is my Table of Contents isn't automatically bookmarked. Any ideas why my figures are messed up when creating my .pdf directly from Word? Any solutions?

Bookmarking is not a feature for Printing a file by Adobe printer , it just produces a flat PDF ,so you wont get bookmarks through that route.
I didn't quite get your issue . Are the images inserted into your word file .tiff and .png or any other format ? Can you please share a word file which contains such images ?

HELP! CANON 5D MARK III TO FCP 7- WHAT IS CORRECT COMPRESSION? LINES THROUGH VIDEO-HELP!

Hi there, so Ive just upgraded from the T2i to Canon 5D Mark III and this is the first time I'm importing footage to final cut. I have FCP 7 (Mac computer) and my video files are 1920x1080, h264 codec shot at 30 fps (29.97). Previously, when importing from the T2i, I used MPEG Streamclip to convert my video files to Apple Prores 422, and then import those compressed files into FCP 7, with field dominance being UPPER, pixels SQUARE. I never had an issue of quality loss or lines through my viewer and canvas using these settings. However, after attempting to do the same with my footage from the Mark III, I got lines through my footage. After researching a bit, I was convinced that the way to eliminate the problem was to download the 5DTORGB app for $50. This has not fixed my problem! Have tried multiple combinations of different field dominance settings and nothing is working. Is this an interlacing problem? I attempted to catch a screenshot but everytime I pause the video or take a shot, the lines do not show...I do not know what is going on! My original mov files are fine, it is only once I convert and import to final cut that they get these little lines... I am desperate for answers, please someone help!!!

Still no change....However, I did export a trial and the vid looks fine, no lines. I guess fcp is just being a little *****! It is just really frustrating me to have to work with these lines going through my clips, even if they do not appear in my exported file....I feel that there must be some hidden issue with my sequence settings....Could you possibly provide a screenshot of the appropriate sequence settings you would use to match a 1920x1080 file with 29.97 fps (already converted from h264 to apple prores 422 thru 5DTORGB) ? I know that usually it is fine to import the newly compressed prores files, and then set sequence to match clips, but since I'm having issues, maybe setting the sequence directly would help?

I am concerned because it shows Aspect ratio as HDTV 1080i (16:9) though you have told me my clips from the 5D should be progressive (so shouldnt it be 1080p not 1080i??) Being that there is not option in frame size for 1080p, i tried selecting the "Custom (16:9)" option, but it will not allow it...Just sets it back to 1080i......Any thoughts?

Black line on video after publishing

I have an issue with VC3.
I import an AVI file and add my effects to it. I then publish the video to FLV format, dimensions 512 x 288.
The source video have the exact same dimensions.
After export all videos have a thin black line on the right of the video. The line is about 1 pixel wide.
It's almost as if the published video have added on a pixel to the dimension and made it 513 x 288 but not stretched the video.
Although when I check the properties of the published video it has the correct dimensions.
I have tried to publish in AVI format as well but I still get the thin black line so it's not just the codec it's something VC does to the video.
This is very annoying as these videos are then embedded on a website with white background and the black line is very apparent.
Does anyone know how I could fix this please?

Thank you Terence , I re-loader the printer driver a third time and this seems to have fixed the problem.

Black line through dock

Hey,
Basically i've just realised that sometimes when im on my computer, theres a thin black line going straight through the dock horizontally..
It's very thin and doesnt affect me opening any programmes, but its just annoying really..
I tried taking a screen shot but it didn't show up on the picture..
An odd one.. hopefully some of you mac geniuses have an idea

Its only sometimes though, and doesn't appear to be a monitor fault.. surely if it was a monitor fault it would be random pixels? This seems to be a perfect horizontal line across the lower screen.. Being a student i cant really afford to take my monitor into be serviced incase there's nothing wrong with it..

can you give some more details, like is it thru the speaker or headphones or both? if from the headphones, the cable may not be pushed in all the way.

CoverFlow album art has a black line through it?

Anyone else have this problem? There's a thin black line running from the top left corner to the bottom right corner of all my album art. What's the deal? Can you somehow disable this?

Dropped my phone. Black lines through screen. Fixable?

I'm a very clumsy person. I've dropped my phone multiple times, & it's never sustained any damage. Unfortunately, last week I dropped it screen-down. The phone is still functioning normally. The only problem is that black horizontal lines have appeared near the top of the screen. They started off at probably about half an inch in length, now the lines have spread across the width of the screen. I'm assuming that dropping my phone has caused damage to the touch screen.
My question is this - is this something that can be fixed or do I need to get a new phone? Will the lines keep spreading? I'm due for an upgrade in December... does Verizon allow early upgrades?

Sounds like not much you can do, lcd sounds like it cracked inside.. depending on the phone you could replace the screen through some 3rd parties *shrug*

Thin white and black lines on video output

I loaded a packaged project to make some changes. (The project was packaged with a different computer than my current. Everything looks clean within Premier. I’m outputting standard Vimeo settings. One of the GoPro clips exports with come-like white lines that cover the screen. Cuts before and after are from the same camera, but do dot display any such problems. The project originally outputted just fine. I originally used neoscene to uncompress the footage. I even ran the original footage through neoscene again, but not change. Suggestions?

Thanks Jim. I fixed the problem. I'm not sure what the cause was, but when I re-uncompressed the file using GoPros free software, the files outputed clean again.

Weird Lines through Video when playing

I was importing video from Canon HF10. It was in 1080i60. When I imported it all in with HD settings in Final Cut the video appears to play with lines running though it when something is moving. I played same video on Quick Time and its the same. I think I shot in weird setting or imported in weird setting, but all was set on Normal and Usual Setting. Anyone knows why video plays with lines though it?

From the way you describe it, it sounds like you are seeing the interlacing of the images. Which of course makes sense given that you shot at 1080i.
Computer monitors are not made to handle the interlaced images. But if you were to watch the image back say on a Television, you should not see those edges.
Anyone can jump in and correct me if I am wrong.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds). No data will be lost.
