Black Macbook Wont Load!!

Hey, I have had my macbook for 7 months and randomly one day I go to turn it on and all I get is the screen with the apple logo with the circle going round and round (like every startup) but it never goes on from there.. I can turn it on and off but it never gets past this point... Help me..

Welcome to Apple Discussions:
First, do you have a backup?
Turn it on, insert Leopard DVD and restart holding down "C" key.
If it boots into DVD, that's a start. After language screen in menu, top left, Utilities, run disk utility and verify/repair HD. See what happens, report back.
If computer will not even boot into Leopard DVD, then it's most likely a hardware failure, but not necessarily the HD.
When you turn it on are there any special tones you hear? A series of unusual beeps? If so, how many?

reading this, your hdd has unfortunately died. have you backed your system up? if you have it is not as bad as it seems.
you will have to buy a new drive and simply restore to that drive from the backup.

  • Macbook wont load up after latest apple update

Whilst updating the software today to the latest version i got a message saying that there had been a problem and it needed to restart. I did this and now it will not load past the white screen which usually has an apple logo showing but now has the circle with a line through it! over the top of this there are lines of code in black and white!
When i tried to load the recovery disk whilst pressing "C" it gets to the white screen with the apple logo but beeps 3 times in a row on loop!
I have after market RAM installed and I have removed and re-seated this with no change. I have also reinstalled the apple RAM which has had no affect.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I am having the same problem.  After running and installing App Store software update an error message appeared after about 7 minutes saying the installation failed and could not continue.  A restart came to to login screen. Adding my account password spun the circle a few moments then the screen flashed and no login.  I tried again.  Tried the guest account.  Tried zapping PRAM.  Tried recovery partition to repair disk permissions.  I was able to get an error message to get a new hard drive from a failed disk repair.
    2.5 Ghz MacBook Pro 15" A1260 titanium pre-unibody.
Tried safe mode. Get only about 30 seconds of spinning, 1/4 on the progress bar, and then shut down.
I doubt it is a bad disk. I say that because my Windows partition still boots normally using Option at startup.
I read several forums and posts.  Found something about a possible glitch with video card switching permissions.  Cannot get into any account to change permissions, so I don't know if that is possible at this point.
Found something to startup in single user Command + S mode and check disk persmissions.  Something about the 8th character ending in "r" seemed to be correct.  A /fsck -fy resulting in an error at catalog, if I recall.  A bad hard drive could be possible, but seems really unlikely as I have had no recent disk issues and the Bootcamp partition works fine.
There are a growing number of similar posts on no reboot after update or no login, etc.  I doubt sending people out for new drives or kernel panics is the issue.  Something with the install failed and is preventing reboot.  Any help would be appreciated.  I'm on a different computer as I cannot startup in any manner.

  • Keynote for macbook wont load

    Hi
I want to create and edit keynote decks on my old macbook running Mac OS X 10.6.8 but itunes store wont allow me to download.  What am I doing wrong? where should i get the right version and what versionn is that. Do I need an older version or is it just a no-no on my old machine?

Snow Leopard is not compatible with the latest version of Keynote, version 6.
Try ebay for iWork 09, which contains Keynote.

  • Macbook wont load

Hi, I was updating my macbook using the automatic software update. It froze as it was updating so I turned it off. It is now refusing to power up, all I get is the grey screen with the whirring circle. I've tried starting it up whilst pressing the 'Option' key and I've tried pressing the command, option, p and r keys whilst starting it up. I've taken the battery out and put it back in again, but nothing seems to be working. My computer is only 10 months old and I've never had any problems with it up til now. My knowledge of these things is minimal to say the least. Please help!!!

    Hi,
I would recommend backing up before doing this if possible to be on the safe side.
By the sounds of things the OS is messed up you will need to re-install it. It will not delete any personal files or applications or users or settings. It should only write over the OS files (i noticed my login background had returned back to default as i had changed it) i have done this myself.
    To do this
-hold down alt and turn on the computer until the selection of what to boot from
-insert the Snow Leopard install DVD
-select the Snow Leopard install DVD (may take a moment for it to come up in the menu)
(may take a while to load)
    -Select language of your preference
-Choose the drive to install to (the drive that had the OS that became messed up) (DO NOT GO into disk utilities and format the drive if you wish to keep the files on the drive)
-Click Continue and it should begin installing
Once the installation has completed and the computer has reset itself. You should be able to login as your user from before.
If an update appears to freeze leave it for a while (maybe about 30min) and come back to see if its still at the same location to be sure its truly frozen before turning it off during an update.
    I hope this helps

    Stephen

  • Desperate! My macbook wont load up?!

Hey, I'm new to this forum.
Right basically my macbook has decided not to start up today. I turned it on in the morning and it said to upgrade this piece of software for ipodtouch/iphone called simplify, so i clicked upgrade and suddenly its froze, I could still move the mouse but couldn't click anything so I forced shut it down and when i went to restart it, it wouldn't load up. It goes the the grey screen and then a couple of minutes later a folder icon appears with a '?' inside it. Can Some one tell me what this means and how can i fix it please.
Its got all of my college work on it which I really need for tonight!
All suggestions will be grateful, Thanks
    I'm running tiger

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
This either means the directory is damaged, the hard disk is too full, or the hard disk is dying.
In the future always backup your data before applying any update.
Its got all of my college work on it which I really need for tonight!
Unless you backed it up before you installed the software, you aren't going to be able to get back tonight. You may be able to restore it, but you'll need to get additional software such as Prosoft Data Rescue, Subrosasoft Filesalvage, or Boomerang's Boomerang and a Firewire external hard drive at least as big as your internal drive by http://www.macsales.com/ or another reliable vendor that has bootable versions of their hard drive for your version of Mac OS X.
My backup FAQ* may offer you some alternatives:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
Once you are backed up, you may be able to repair your direcrory*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/directoryfaq.html
If that doesn't work, replace your internal hard drive.

  • Macbook wont load!!! CMD+R doesnt work!

    Hi!
I just tried updating to OSX Yosemite, however halfway through the installation the Mac displayed a notice stating "an error occurred" and restarted.
Since then i have been unable to boot up my macbook. If i try to boot normally it just gets stuck in a startup/shutdown loop, displaying some text suggesting kernel panic. If i hold down CMD+R, a prohibitory sign displays until i manually turn the macbook off.
    I have tried:
    Resetting PRAM,
    Resetting SMC,
Starting in safe mode (will not boot),
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Makksta87,
If you are having an issue with being unable to start up your Mac and have been unable to boot to Recovery, you may need to boot to Internet Recovery. See this article -
OS X: About OS X Recovery
Note that an active Internet connection is required to do this. Also note -
Starting up from this system performs a quick test of your memory and hard drive to check for hardware issues.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • My MacBook wont load Mac OS X, just keeps chiming repeatedly

I had Firefox and iTunes open on my MacBook. I went downstairs to get a snack. When I came back upstairs, my MacBook was frozen. The mouse wouldn't move, so I held down the power button to turn it off. When I turned it back on, it got to a blank blue/gray screen, and it chimes repeatedly every few seconds or so. I tried sticking the Mac OS X Install Disk in, but it will not boot off of it. I've read many different posts and articles, most of them tell you to press a button or a combination of buttons after you hear the chime. Nothing works, it just keeps chiming, waits a few seconds, and then chimes again, over and over.
Is there anything I can do without having to drive to an Apple Store? The closest one is about 2 hours away.

Hi, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Let it cool down then try holding the Option key down from the gitgo.
    Slso try an SMC reset...

  • Installing Windows 7 Using bootcamp 5.0 on MBPr OSX 10.8.2 Black Screen Not Loading Windows 7 Install on Boot

I am trying to install Windows 7 using Bootcamp Assistence 5.0 on a MacBook Pro Retina OSX 10.8.2, I went through all steps on Creatting the Windows 7.iso into a bootable USB Dirve 16GB I use a separate USB Drive 2 GB and download Windows Support Drivers Step 2 on bootcamp assistence. I run into the problem in step 3 when the computer reboot I just get a black screen the back display still on like I can still see the apple on the back lit up, but the screen is black and wont load the window installer, if i shut it down and bring it back up i get error saying IOS not found so then i have to shut it down, enter recovery and restart on osx partition, i can see that the bootcamp partition was created but cant load windows to it. Please can anybody help me or guide me on what i am doing wrong? thank you so much in advance

this will install as normal. before installing however you will need an activation key cos in win 7 this is one of the first pages that is presented before instalation.
the key from your relative could possibly work especially if he used your internet connection to register. but this could cause problems with his/your authenticity after 30 days.
the only other option is to purchase a key.
you say a 30 day trial, does it give you a temporary key for this?

  • My macbook wont boot up, black screen and the cd drive keeps making a constant sound. What to do?

My macbook wont boot up. When I turn it on, the screen turns black right away and the cd/dvd drive keeps making a constant "ejecting" sound.
The strange thing though is that once in a while starts up propperly, but suddely goes black again (after a min. or two), and the ejecting sound comes back. What to do, and yh, I've never done a back up so would it be possible to take out the HD and regain whats in there?
    Any help would be appriciated!

Hello. Try resetting the PRAM and SMC first.

If your computer doesn't have enough disk space, yes.
If your computer doesn't have enough RAM, not without installing more.

  • My macbook wont start. it just comes to a black screen that sais no bootable device.  -asian gal

My macbook wont start. it just comes to a black screen that sais no bootable device.

Ok then either the drive has failed or the cable from the drive to the logic board has failed or the drive is so corrupted that the computer doesn't see the OS on it.
Boot the computer from the original install DVD that came with your system. If your system is new and came with Lion then at startup hold down the Command+r keys and that will either boot you to the built in Recovery HD or to the internet recovery system. From either of those you can check the drive for error and or see if the computer even knows there is a drive in the system.
