Black Magic HD Extreme capture problem

I recently switched from a PowerPC quad to a Macpro.
Blackmagic card worked 100% in the Quad.
So I installed the Blackmagic HD Extreme into the Macpro.
Now I have constant problems when I go to log and Capture. The card does not recognize the input source. I have to close out of FCS, reboot, re launch, re- launch L&C, etc..over and over and again until it eventually sees the source.
I updated the drivers- check prefs, ran disk utility, etc
Blackmagic support is stumped.
(In fact- I tried to launch L&C for 30minutes- called BM support while I continued to try and get it to work. As soon as I got the guy on the phone- I was able to get it to launch!
Like I said- I do nothing major to change any settings- sometimes it sees the source and sometimes it doesn't.
(My Source and Easy set-up is always the same.)
Please- what the heck is going on here. It's making me crazy.
Would AJA work better the Macpro?

Black Magic vs. DVD Pro

At my place of work we have the Black Magic 10 Bit Capture cards. But somtimes when I use the blackmagic compressed mov files with DVD Studio Pro I come across interlacing problems after the DVD is burned and I view it back on an ordinary NTSC monitor. This happens almost every single time. The movie files are jumpy and glitchy during playback. Any thoughts on why this is? Is it because I'm importing the mov file straight into DVD Pro without using Compressor? Or could it be a DVD Pro or buring glitch?
What's the best kind of capture card/ compression that is best used with DVD Pro??

It could be a field order problem. Try switching the field order setting opposite from what its currently set to in Compressor. If Upper first, then try Lower, vice-versa. then encode your clip.

Mac Mini (Black Magic) Powerful Enough?

Well I'm going to be buying my mac mini very soon, but I do have some concerns. I want to be able to stream, and upload videos to youtube, with the black magic extreme (link below) will the mac mini be able to handle these needs? I'll be getting $599.00 version, but I'll be updating the memory to kingston 8gb ddr3. (link below)

i havent streamed or used the black magic, but you might want to consider the quad core mini. I was able to bog down the base model with some video editing. Im happy as a clam now with my quad 2.0
you might also want to consider getting two 8gb memory modules instead of two 4gb. Or at least one (for 12gb). I sometimes often saturate my 8gb, paging out. I will be getting those two 8gb eventually (as in before the summer is out.)

Black Magic Capture Card

Hi Everyone,
I'm about to order a Black Magic card because I can't seem to output DV or HDV to my Sony GV-HD700 deck. Am I correct in believing this will solve my issue, and are Black Magic users happy with the card?

I'm happy with my BMD HD Extreme card. But I'm not sure that will fix your output problem. I noticed on Sony's website that the specification section for your model does not list Leopard as compatible. It only goes as high as OS X 10.1. My guess is that might be the problem. Also, double check the output settings in Final Cut to make sure you're setup for DV.

Black magic card a/v settings for capture??????????????????????

So I have a black magic intensity pro card. I am trying to use it with my JVC HDV 720p 60fps camcorder. I know I need to lower the setting to have it actually work without a ton of raid cards and so I have the "A/V Settings" set to:
Sequence preset: Black magic HDTV 720p 60 - Jpeg
Capture preset: Black magic HDTV 720p 60 - Jpeg
Device Control preset: Non-controlable device
Which is what everything I have read has said to do, but it refuses to work I get an error saying there is no video coming through the audio meeter does not even bounce in preview. It is not the cables I have tested both. What else could it be?

I also have the intensity settings in the mac system preferences set to y, r-y, b-y video & analog RCA Audio.
I am still stumped!

Adobe not allowing import of XML file captured from Media Express through Black Magic capture card

I have been going crazy trying to find a way to import the XML files to fix the digitized look Adobe capture gave my footage. Someone help me
These are not XML from Final Cut. They are files saved from Media Express, a Black magic design program used for Capturing.

What is the BEST cable connection from Canopus ADVC 300 to Black Magic Intensity Pro HDMI PCI Express Capture Card?

I must connect an ADVC 300 to a Black Magic Intensity Pro HDMI PCI Express Capture Card. For best quality, which cable should I use?
On the ADVC 300 there are outputs of firewire, S-VHS and RCA.
On BMPro it's a little confusing. On the breakout cable there are connectors that say:
-5 B-Y OUT
-4 Y OUT
-3-R-Y OUT
-7-R-Y IN
-8-Y IN
-9 B-Y IN
-15 AUDIO IN RIGHT
-10 AES/EBU OUT
-12 AUDIO LEFT OUT
-14 AUDIO LEFT OUT
-13 AUDIO RIGHT OUT
With the BMPro, there is also a separate, shorter cable. On one end it looks like S-VHS and on the other there are two connectors, one black and one blue.
On the actual BMPro Express card strip instead of using the breakout cable, there is HDMI IN (and HDMI OUT).
How should I connect this? Is there an adapter cable of FIREWIRE TO HDMI?
Any help is much appreciated.

Well, when I researched how best to digitize VHS (into Final Cut Pro 7), I learned two of the best devices to use are BMPro and Canopus ADVC 300. I’m using the ADVC 300 for the built-in time base corrector. I definitely want to use that to stabilize the video. I also read how well BMPro improves image quality. So, I thought to use the two together must produce outstanding quality (well, as good as VHS can be).
Perhaps I got confused into thinking I can use both. But the BMPro appears to have an S-VHS adapter.
I guess I’m wondering what is better quality:
Run the firewire from the Canopus ADVC 300 converter directly into the firewire port on the Mac Pro
Or, run an S-VHS cable from the Canopus ADVC 300 into the BMPro Capture card
(I should mention that I have purchased all these items and already have the BMPro Card installed so at this point it’s not a cost issue, but rather an issue of simply which works best?)

Capturing at 24 fps with Black Magic Decklink Studio

I keed capturing video at 24 fps. I would rather be at 29.97 fps. How do I get to that level. The black magic is set to NTSC.

Setting Premiere Pro with Black Magic extreme Tunderbolt/HDMI

Normally I work with Avid but, like everybody else, I think Premiere Pro holds the future. So I am working on that.
Question is, I have a Black Magic Extreme with Thunderbolt connected through my Pegegasus raid system. With Avid it works BUT with Premiere Pro it doesn't. So what am I doing wrong?

$15 for the kit $40 for assembled. I made the same thing for like $.05. Took some cat5E cable, one had a broken end so I cut that off and it become the monitor lead.
I set it up with a desktop, router, laptop. Ran ping -T to router and captured it all on the laptop.
Connect 2 systems to the blue cable, the monitor system connects to the gray cable.

Has anyone used the Black-Magic Design Multi Bridge?

Currently I have a Black Magic Multi Bridge Extreme. It works, but there seems to be an issue with a very (hot) running unit. The fan is running (very loud I might add), and does seem to cool down the unit, just a bit. If there is anyone using this or simular unit, could you provide some feed back. Thanks

Brett, I have the same problem when I bring the mac out of sleep mode. Have you managed to find out why we have to switch the TV Off then On again to get the picture? Or another solution? Very annoying when you have 1000's $ worth of equipment but the solution is still "Have you tried switching it Off and On again" (All due respects to the "IT CROWD").

Importation impossible de fichier black magic dans premiere cc

Bonjour, il m'est impossible d'importer des fichiers AVI dans premiere cc.
Ces fichiers proviennent d'une capture via media express de intensity pro, en 8 bit YUV, acquisition analogique....
Premiere les importe et ensuite ferme de manière imprevu...
IL est à noté que windows media ne lit pas ces fichiers....

hello, merci d'avoir rrepondu,....black magic est la carte d'acquisition, la intensity pro....j'ai fait des acquisitions via cette carte, même si j'aurai pu le faire à partir de premiere cc..
Oui Premiere est à jour...version CC (cs7)....
Je fais une acquisition via l'analogique.....intensity pro marche très bien et les projets 8bits sont bien intégrés dans première tout est nickel....
Lorsque j'importe ces fichiers même sans séquence, voilà lme message d'erreur:
Adobe premiere à cesser de fonctionner...un problème a fait que le programmme a cessé de fonctionner...
Voilà;...lorsque je fais l'acquisition dans premiere à partir de la BMagic, pas de probleme.???

Black Magic Intensity Pro Play only Audio when edit in CS 5.5

Hi i have an problem, when i try to edit with Black Magic Intensity Pro in premiere CS5.5
i can play only Audio but not Video so i check settings on Premiere and control panel for
Black Magic Intensity and everything is OK and i check connections the preview is connect
via HDMI cacle and Composite Video/Audio and in both cases i get only Audio but no Video
so what is the problem? An driver for Black Magic Intensity Pro issue or what?

Yes, it's possible to use the Blackmagic Multibridge Pro with Premiere but it's also complicated to use the card with video and audio together.
I use a mac pro with the Multibridge Pro 1 and need to use an audio card too, because the card makes always problems with audio in Premiere CC.
In the audio hardware settings tab you have no selection possibility for the card. You have to select your standard system audio and to route this in Premiere. In your system audio panel you have the multibridge as standard card set.
Only for a short time it was possible for me to use the card with audio and video but after the last Premiere update I have to use the audio card again. I spend to much time in optimize my system to work well with the card and heard to many people have trouble with Premiere CC and the Multibridge Pro Card. In Premiere Pro it wasn't a problem at all...
