Black mark on (or beneath) Satellite P200 screen

Hi, I have a P200-1EE 8 months old. An irregular shaped black mark has appeared on (or under) my screen. I have done various dead pixel tests and that doesn't seem to be the problem. In fact this mark seems to be below the surface of the screen. Is this possible? How did it get there? What is it? Will my warranty cover a replacement? Can anyone help?
If you have time, please view these two pics-

Thanks for reply. I don't think it is cracked. I have pushed the area inwards under magnification and there is no sign of a crack expanding. Plus nothing happened to have caused one.
I'm baffled what this is. Do you think it will be covered under my warranty if it is (or isn't) a crack.

  • Satellite P200-P100 - Black screen after a Windows 7 update

    Hi,
    I have a Toshiba Satellite P200-P100 running Windows 7.
A few weeks ago, after a Windows 7 Update, my monitor would not show any image, it would light up, but still no image. Not even the BIOS it would load.
I fixed it by using System Restore using another monitor. The same happened again today, I must have ran the same update, but this time a system restore did not solve it, neither did reinstalling Win 7.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Spre3

    Hi
You mean you cannot see anything on the internal nor the external monitor even switching the display output pressing the FN + F5 buttons???
Hmm. in my personal opinion this has nothing to do with the Win 7 update
I mean the Win 7 OS update/installation should not affect the BIOS and you should be able to access the BIOS even if no operating system would be installed on the HDD!!!
So I assume the whole issue could be related to the motherboard issue or some parts placed on motherboard
    Did you try this?
Remove the battery and disconnect the AC adaptor
Then wait a little bit (1hour) and then connect both parts again.
Then try to power up the unit
If this will not help then the RAM modules should be checked.

  • Satellite A200 screen stays black when trying to boot

    Hello everyone,
My Toshiba Satellite A200 notebook is not working anymore, so everything started when I was playing a game, suddenly, the screen turned blue with some tiny text written on it. I had to hold the power button a few seconds to close it because nothing was happening on the computer. I then pressed the power button to open it. Everthing was going well, until the welcome screen. At this part, it was written "Welcome" but the Vista loading circle left of it wasn't turning.
After a few seconds, I decided to close the computer again, so I did hold the power button so the computer closed. Here is the problem : I tried to reopen it, but the screen stayed black. Nothing was happening. The power light was blue, but not any computer activity. So I let it like that a few minutes then closed it and tried again, but the same thing happened. I tried to disassemble it and noticed one of the two memory card wasn't fully in its slot. I fixed it, but it didn't fix the problem.
I also tried to plug another screen on it, but that one was also black. So I put back the screen on its computer and tried to boot my laptop and it worked. It was booting, but the first problem came back, the Welcome screen was frooze there. So yes I did close it again and then the same thing happened, the screen stayed black.
I don't think the problem is the screen because as I said sometime it goes to the welcome screen. Also I don't hear any welcome sound when the screen stays black as if the computer would simply not start up. And as I said earlier, I don't see any computer activity on the little light in front of the computer. And left of this one, I clearly see that the computer is ON because the power light is blue.
So this is my problem, next time the computer manages to start up I'll try to boot it on the SAFE MODE, but until then, I don't know what to do. Please, help me.
    Thanks in advance,
    MrRoy
    EDIT :
After letting the computer turned off for about 30 minutes, I started it, and booted in safe mode. At this step, I securely closed my comptuer with the shut down button instead on holding the power button. Then I reopened my computer, and it booted and the problem was fixed. Now my notebook is openened and working.
So if this is happening to you :
    1. Shut down you computer.
    2. Wait for about 30 minutes.
    3. Boot in safe mode
    4. Shut it down using the shut down button istead off holding the power button.
    That should work.

Finally, it doesn't work. I don't know why but my computer did start up after the 30 minutes, but now it's not working anymore. It just won't startup like I said later, with a black screen.
The computer did work for about half an hour. I mean, I managed to start it up but after executing a program, it just froze and I had to hold the power button to restart it. I did it about 3 or 4 times, then it simply did the black screen again. I think the problem is my processor, maybe it's damaged or something, could it be possible?
Because I see that the processor isn't working when I try to start it up.
So let's say it's damaged, would that be the symptoms of my computer?
And if it's the processor, the only way to fix it is to send it to a reparator or something, because I don't feel like it, I'd rather do it myself.
But right now, my computer is simply not booting, like I said in my previous post.
    Thanks in advance,
    MrRoy
Note : The edit button wasn't there so I had to double post :/

  • IPhone screen is different colours with a black mark in the corner and lines on it. Help?

I dropped my phone accidently but the screen didn't break and it was fine when I picked it up (I could view my lock screen). After a couple of minutes my screen went different colours with lines on the edges of it and a black mark in the corner. How can I fix this?

Try a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. If that does not work, then the LCD has probably failed. Despite the fact that the glass did not break, it does not mean that it was not damaged. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have it looked at.

  • Ipod 4 gen black mark in corner of screen, why is this?

Why does my 4 day old i pod touch 4 th gen have a black mark in the corner of the screen

Could you have dropped the iPod or place a lot of force on that corner?
Is the mark on a viewable part of the screen?
You can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and have it checked out..

  • Bb screen gone complety white with black mark in corner not been dropped can i fix this at home??

put my phone into my mouth today it didnt get wet, but the screen has gone blank, its white with a black mark in the corner i can still recive calls but cant see anything, can i fix this at home mums gonna go mentall (y)

Reset the iPad and see if that fixes it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't do it, you may want to consider restoring the device and if that doesn't work - you probably need to get Apple involved and let a genius take a look.

  • Can't install a clean Vista 64bit on Satellite P200-1I6

    Hello,
i have Toshiba Satellite P200-1I6. I have Product recovery DVD which works, but I want to do a clean install of Vista 64bit OS but
my toshiba won't but any Vista version - only Toshiba product recovery DVD.
Does someone knows how to fix that?

Usually the notebook would boot from the CD/DVD drive after pressing the C button.
You could also press F12 to get the boot menu on the screen. Then you could choose the CD/DVD drive as a boot source.
But if the notebook cannot boot from DVD then its possible that the DVD is not readable for the CD/DVD drive.
Try different DVDs from different manufacturers... I made a good experience with DVD-R TDK

  • Printing problems, black mark appears on document when printing using auto portrait/landscape

As the title says, pdf is fine on screen but when printing using auto portrait/landscape a black mark appears on the screen as in the photos below
when the orientation is selected the line disapears and the print works correctly
Anyone have any idea why this would happen?
    Thanks
    Ben

    Hello Pelle,
Thanks for the feedback. Our printing code in Adobe Reader Touch doesn't have that capability right now, but since you mention it we should probably do what you're requesting by default. I'll put that into our backlog for a future update, but I can't say yet when it will be available.
In the interim, if you have pages that are different orientations, you can print them in blocks manually to get what you want, but I understand that's a hassle.

  • Satellite P200: How do i calibrate monitor to get same colors using Photoshop CS3

How do i calibrate monitor to get print that looks like pic on screen?
    I am using Photoshop CS3.
When I get a pic the way I want it on the screen and try to print it, it prints much darker. I could calibrate my iMac monitor for photoshop but can't find a way of doing it with my Satellite P200.
My printer is a Canon ip4300 and I'm using Canon ink and paper.

I think you need additional software and hardware to calibrate yout monitor.

  • Re: How to reset Satellite P200-1FC upgraded to 7

    Hi there,
Is it possible to reset my Satellite P200-1FC that came with Vista, with the product recovery disc if I have upgraded to windows 7?
The problem is incredibly slow internet connection where other laptops all work fine - is this likely to help anyway?
    Many thanks

    Hi Tilda,
Yes, its no problem to restore you notebook to factory settings with Toshiba recovery disk. This can be done every time and how often you want and matter what operating system is installed.
So insert the recovery disk and follow the screen instructions to get out of box settings back :)

  • Satellite P200-1FC: CD/DVD drive will not start - error Code 10

My Satellite P200-1FC was purchased in January 2008 and preloaded with Vista Home Premium. The DVD/CD Drive is listed in device manager as "TSST corp CDDVDW TS-L632H ATA Device".
At first the drive worked perfectly, but has recently refused to start. Device manager now shows it with a yellow exclamation mark and it's status is given as "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
Clicking check for solutions produces "could not load driver software" but no solution.
Searching similar questions in user forums suggests a use of a Microsoft Help & Support page headed "The CD drive or the DVD drive does not work as expected on a computer that you upgraded to Windows Vista".
However this involves modifying the registry! As a relative novice I am reluctant to do this unless I can find no easier way.
Must I bite the bullet and and enter this minefield, or is there a better way?

    >At first the drive worked perfectly, but has recently refused to start. Device manager now shows it with a yellow exclamation mark and it's status is given as "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
This error is definitely caused by a wrong registry entry.
I had such error several times ago and I have solved it removing the lower and upper filters from these registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    Here are some steps how it worked on my Windows system;
    - I removed the CD/DVD drive from the device manager
    - Then edited the registry as described above
    - Rebooted the notebook
Im sure it will help you too.
    Bye

  • Re: Not responding Satellite P200

We have a Toshiba Satellite P200 laptop. Last time we used it, the computer shut down as normal. But when we tried to turn it on the next day it wouldn't do anything.
The blue power cable light is lit, but nothing else, and it won't respond.
    Please help.

I also have a Satellite P200d. Same thing has happened after approx 1 month use. Removing battery and replacing allows computer to boot up but during boot get message that a fault has been found which will be repaired. That happens and laptop boots up ok - error log show video hardware fault. Next time I close down and then try to reboot the same happens again. In addition, during month use I have had a blank screen which recovers with the message that driver atikmdag has failed and has successfully recovered. This happens 2 or 3 times each time I use the laptop. Any suggestions will be welcome. Otherwise its a good bit of kit.

  • Satellite P200: Fn keys and Bluetooth message in Vista

I just installed updated drivers for my Satellite P200, and now the Fn keys do not work for screen brightness, etc.
Also, I get a message when I boot up about not being able to power on the Bluetooth module (because the switch on the front is off).
I have the Value pack installed (re-installed), but still now Fn keys, can anyway point me to what drivers I need or something?
And also how to get rid of the Bluetooth message (but still have the monitor in the tray!)
    Thanks

Well, my Fn keys are back. I'm sure it wasn't uninstalling and reinstalling the value pack, so I think it might have been reinstalling the flash cards utility.
Incidentally, when they weren't working, I noticed very weirdly that F1-F8 wouldn't work, but F9 (disable touchpad) would!
I got rid of the bluetooth message by uninstalling Bluetooth Monitor 3. What this actually does I don't know, since I still have the bluetooth icon in my tray as this belongs to Bluetooth +Manager+ -- confusing!

  • Re: Satellite P200 PsPB3C-BB808C Cannot locate *Multimedia Controller*

I have just upgraded my neighbours' Toshiba Laptop to Win 7 after a bad Vista crash.
    It is a Satellite P200 -BB808C.
When I started there were two drivers missing, the Mass Storage Controller and a Multimedia Controller. I did a clean install, starting with formatting the drive.
Windows 7 loaded A-OK and all Toshiba drivers were installed following the recommended sequence. I was able to locate the driver for the Mass Storage controller but as yet cannot find anything for the Multimedia Controller.
I have been alternating between the Canadian and USA site with no luck.
I have also spent a lot of time Googling different variations of the same question, trying to locate some info on this driver. It seems a lot of people are having the same problem.
So far the system is performing very well with no glitches or hang-ups.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Thank you for the prompt reply.
Yes I have checked that out already.
There are no details given in the device manager for this item. There is a code 28 for this driver and an exclamation mark by the controller name.
It gives the location as PCI Bus 6, device 0, function 0.
The driver, details and resources tabs are all empty, no details whatsoever.
I was wondering, perhaps I should try re-installing all the drivers, etc.
    Your thoughts.
