BLACK PAGE

I am using Safari.4.0.3 and most things are going well but when I tried to print out some tickets from Ticketmaster the page was totally black except for the address bar. I used Firefox and the page was fine and I could print out the tickets. Does anyone have any idea as to what this might be?
All help greatly appreciated.

HI,
Try some Safari maintenance.
Go here http://guides.macrumors.com/SpeedupSafari and follow the instructions to...
Empty the Cache
Reset Safari
See if that makes a difference.
Also, try printing just a short text document to see if your printer is working as it should.

If you are running Mac OS X 10.7.3 then you have Lion installed, not Snow Leopard. It's probably not important to this discussion, but something you should be aware of.
What application are you printing the PDF files from? Have you tried opening the PDF file using the Preview application that can be found in the Applications folder? Does the issue still occur? Have you tried other PDF files from a different source?
Another poster in the following discussion thread reported that this method resolved their black blank PDF issue when viewing (and presumably printing) PDF files from Safari.

There's a solution if you want to see the PDF inside Safari's window :
Go to the folder : Your Hard Drive / Library / Internet Plug-ins.
If you see a file with PDF in its name drag it to the trash.
Quit and restart Safari to test with a PDF.
If it works you can empty the trash.

  • Doesn't open the PDF file (i.e. articles, books pages). It appears a black page. Thanks for help

Safari doesn't open the PDF file (articles, book page, etc). It appears a black page. Before that it was working perfectly. Thank for your help

    Try this ...
Open a Finder window then from the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
    Click Go.
If you see the:  AdobePDFViewer plugin (or anything Adobe related) in the Internet Plug-Ins folder, move it to the trash.
Restart your Mac and try opening a PDF file.

    Every time Firefox opened

How about if you right click on the PDF and select Save Link As..., and then open it locally from within Reader? Does it work ok then?  That might be a workaround until the issue within the browser is resolved.

I seem to be having trouble getting downlaoded pdfs to print off. I can view them and they look ok but then i go to the print setup and all that shows is a black page. If i try to open the saved file from the desktop it say the file is damaged or corrupt . this doesnt always happen. sometimes it's fine, so idont know what is wrong, the file , my printer , adobe reader?? can anyone help?

HI thanks for that Pat, but doesn't seemed to have fixed it . I dont have that option on my print set up.
this is message i get when i try to open the file.     Adobe Reader could not open 'calleen-2014-a4-form.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
when i am viewing the document online i dont have any access to adobe reader menus or bar at the top, then i go to print from safari browser and then the page in the print box is black , no image. Any other suggestions . thanks

  • Installing AcrobatPro after removing Adobe Reader Safari displayed pdf urls only as a black page anymore

After installing Acrobat Pro it installs in Library/Internet Plugin-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin version 11.0.03. Allthough after selecting a PDF-link it leads to a displays it not in Acrobat Pro, it diplays it as a black page in Safari. When I have a look in Acrobat Pro into the preferences/internet/webbrowser-option/PDF to show inBrowser with: isnt checked! And there is still listed/Application/Adobe Reader.app instead of /Applikation/Adobe Acrobat Pro!!
There is no way to select this Applikation. Having a look at Lbrary/Preferences/com.adobe.acrobat.pdfviewer.plist listed:
    AdobePDFDriver file://localhost/Volumes/Sicherung%20laptop/Applications/Adobe/Adobe%20Acrobat% 209%20Pro/Adobe%20Acrobat%20Pro.app/
    ReaderInstallPath file://localhost/Applications/Adobe%20Reader.app/
    WebBrowserUsePath file://localhost/Applications/Adobe%20Reader.app/
Has anyone changed the ReaderInstallPath file or WebBrowserUsePath file to the path of Acrobat Pro  and as a result a good diplay of PDF-urls in Arcobat Pro or Safari??
Thankx, I hope my english isn´t to bad for a german apple-user!

Thanks for the screenshot, Pat. I think the light bulb went off for me. I was looking over the tips for configuring Firefox at the link:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html
And I think what confused me the most was this screen shot for plug-ins for Firefox mentioned Acrobat.
I had Acrobat installed myself, but most of our users do not use Acrobat, since it's not a free product. I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat, and the Adobe Acrobat plug-in was still there, so that forced me to realize that the plug-in that comes with Adobe Reader 11.0.3 is called "Adobe Acrobat".
I went into Tools->Options->Applications and selected "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)", rather than "Use Adobe Reader (default)".
This now allows me to not only view PDFs within a browser window in Firefox, but it also enables the save icon (which "Use Adobe Reader (default)" was not allowing me to do:
It's a shame that the default setting is not for "in browser", because our customers may have to make a configuration change.
There is no way to programmatically force a configuration change on a user's browser, is there?

All PDF print as completely black pages.  I can read the PDF fine.  This is true on any printer.
A google search shows others have had this problem, but I have not seen a solution posted.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat, without help.  I'm wondering if this is a registry problem.
I saw some post that referred to a stuck switch of print colors as black, but I know nothing about this.
    Please help!

I am using a Mac (all software latest version - Mt. Lion and Safari as web browser).  I see this exact problem but NOT with all PDFs.  As you might not know, PDF creation is built-into all Macs and I do NOT have a problem with any of those, nor has anyone complained to me about those.  Also, Macs have a bulit-in PDF viewer ("Preview") which also can NOT view the file correctly.  If I try to open the file once it has been stored on the desktop, Acrobat gives me an "incorrectly formatted PDF file" error.
My AMEX statement is unprintable and some other stuff that comes from our local school board, and other online sources.  (My suspicion is that these files are not perfectly formatted).
    Here was my work-around:
I use FIREFOX browser to retrieve the same PDF and it prints fine.
I, too, would LOVE to know why this is happening because it is annoying.

Just bought Adobe Photoshop Ps , clicked on the icon in my Mac dock and am staring at a black page with a perimeter of symbols and a heading that reads "Adobe Photoshop CC  2014. I don't have a clue what I do next. I would like to transfer some photos from my iPhoto library. Where do I start?

Photoshop does not transfer files nor import files. It can open files from any place that finder can access for files.
    This is the normal process:
You need to log into https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/catalog/desktop.html Download Center
Select the app you would like to start with
The Creative Cloud manager will install first.
When done installing, the Creative cloud (adobe manager) should open in the middle of your screen.
If no apps automatically start installing then click on Apps
Scroll down to the app you want to install and click the install button
Once the manager says it is done, you can start your app like you normally do with any other app.

  • In Safari, opening a web-based pdf results in a black page?

Whn I am using Safari which is  the default browser on my IMAC, opening a web-based pdf results in a black page? This does not happen when using firefox. Also does not happen when opening an emailed pdf.

    Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Safari 4.0.4 Displays All  PDF's as Black Pages

When using *Safari 4.0.4* all PDF's are displayed as a dark black page. I have loaded dozens of pages from different sites with the exact same results. If I use Firefox or Camino the PDFs load and display correctly.
I spent over an hour on the phone with an Apple Expert without resolving the problem. We uninstalled and reinstalled Safari, and the Adobe Reader. No Joy.
The last act of desperation was a full reinstall of Snow Leopard. Again, no Joy.
All my software is up to date.
I have also loaded several 3rd party PDF readers and they have all displayed the pages correctly.

    Tom:
I had a similar problem and the cause of it was that a 3rd party pdf reader replaced the default one and it was not compatible with 64-bit mode. If that is your issue, you can find out by opening Safari in 32-bit mode and see it a pdf will load. Alternatively, you can do what I ended up doing and uninstalling the 3rd party reader and using Safari in 64-bit mode.
    Hope that helps!

  • Swapped out CM2320nf Fuser Causes Black Pages. FW: 20140625.

I’m sorry this is so long but I want to avoid unnecessary “Tried that” posts.
My fuser was working fine except the sleeve and pressure roller were worn out and causing wrinkles along the left side of the page and occasionally folded over the page onto itself.
I swapped the fuser out with one from one of my CP2025s that I know work. No wrinkling or folding now but the printer prints out all black pages.
I’ve tried everything including, resetting to factory defaults both from the menu and using the up arrow and cancel buttons down on power up, recalibrating and cleaning. Secondary functions to clean the belt produced a smeary grey page. Color calibration causes black pages plus horizontal lines about a quarter of an inch high of the other 3 colors about an inch apart between the rest of the black page. Scan calibration also gives similar results. I also tried reinstalling the latest firmware dated 20140625. I tried using the Automatic Document Feeder to make a copy of a scanned page, same black page.
I took out the fuser and reinstalled it to make sure I didn’t miss any electrical connections. This time I didn’t waste my time following the instructions in the Service Manual which tell you to remove all covers and the scanner unit. All’s you really have to do is pop off the back door right side stopper bar and remove the 3 screws at the top and lift up to remove back cover panel. The back door then comes off with the cover. Then 2 screws to get the fuser out. Nothing wrong or missing from the first installation so I reinstalled the fuser and still get the same results.
I tried hooking it up to the network and was able to look at and set things up using the web based interface. All are working fine. I did a printer control panel keyboard test twice to make sure all keys are working and none are stuck in the down position. No problems.
Finally I tried to print the test page from the Windows 8.1 64 bit OS Devices and printers page for this printer. Again no text only a black page.
At no time have I gotten any text on any pages printed. Sometimes the black page will come out with a little color. Usually green.
I read the entire User Manual, Technical Reference Manual and Service Manual. The Service Manual has one section stating you can’t replace 2 of the circuit boards at the same time because one contains information about the other so if one is replaced the other will restore its information once the new board is installed. If you try replacing both boards at the same time both boards don’t have the information about the other so neither board gets restored causing major image quality problems.
I did not remove or install any circuit boards. I only removed the straps connecting boards that I was instructed to detach using the instructions in the Service Manual.
I’m at a loss as to how to fix this and don’t know how it could have happened unless one of the circuit boards got damaged during the process.   This is real annoying because these boards did not need to be exposed in the first place and were only exposed because of the unnecessary instructions to remove all the panels and covers in the Service Manual.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Paul Mighetto

  • C5280 prints black page when copying and scanning

    Can anybody help please.
C5280 prints a black page when I want to copy or scan but it prints ok from the computer. The light seems to be working on it. I am unable to reinstall with the disc as the CD drive is not working now. Does it need to be reinstalled.
    Thanks for any help possible.

    Hi @Dani77 ,
I see by your post that you are getting a black page when copying and scanning from the printer. You can print fine and you updated the HP software, the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and you have the same results.
I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
I wasn't sure whether you just updated the printer software on the printer or the firmware.
If you haven't already, please update the printer's firmware. HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer Drivers.
Disconnect the USB or Ethernet cable from the printer.
Make sure the printer is still connected directly to a 3 prong wall outlet.
Try making a copy with a blank sheet.
If the output is blank, then try and copy a text document.
I will send you another step to try in a private message.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet)
Please let me know the outcome.
    Have a nice day!

  • Black page when copying and scanning

    Hi,
I have a HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP, all was working fine until I changed the ink cartridge two days ago.  Printing is fine but when I go to copy or scan I get a solid black page printed.  I've checked the light goes across when copying and scanning, tried switching off printer and on again, plugged it straight in to wall and updated all HP software.  Any ideas?
    Many thanks
