Black "picture frame" around window

A strange black "picture frame" shows up around windows which are active. Doesn't show up on Entourage. Appears like a non-damaging virus, but I don't know what it could be. Any ideas how to get rid of it?

Hello teddyloop,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
It looks like VoiceOver was activated. Head to *System Preferences -> Universal Access* and click on the Seeing tab and there is where you should be able to turn it off.

  • 'Picture frame' around open window

After I updated to OS10.4.10 via a download, many applications (including Office) would not open. I reloaded the original disks for my MacBook (OS10.4.6) (not a clean reload) and the applications now work. However, the frontmost (open) window now has a bizarre antique-style picture frame as a border around it that I do not know how to delete!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I've never seen an antique picture frame around a window.
Check in System Preferences >> Universal Access >> Seeing

"You should not reinstall an earlier version of the same software over a later version. These "downgrade" installs may seem to work, but Apple does not test nor recommend downgrade installations in most cases. Some installers prevent downgrade installations. If you need to reinstall an earlier version of Mac OS X, erase your disk first or choose the erase option in the Mac OS X Installer. Be sure to reinstall any software updates after reinstalling the operating system."

  • Putting a "picture frame" around an entire video

Hey there! thanks in advance for the help.
I'm attempting to put a "picture-frame" around a video that will be visible throughout the duration of the movie. Is there any way to do this in FinalCut Pro?
    Thanks!

There are some great Frames in the Motion Content. Open Motion using same settings as your FCP project and find the one you like in the Motion Library and drag it to your new Motion project.
    Size it to your tastes.
Then open Layers (cmd-4) twirl the disclosure triangle and delete the drop zone.
Now export it. When you bring it into FCP you will have a frame you can place over any video and the video will show inside the frame.
    Good luck

  • Black frame around windows

    Hi all,
recently upgraded to SL. And, from time to time, I have black frames around my windows where the shadow should be viewable.
    Anyone else having this problem?

    PartisanEntity wrote:
I was able to narrow down the issue, these weird black frames only appear when or after I have used an application that requires 3d graphics, such as Maya.
Sounds like your system can't keep up with the rendering required...try to run Maya alone, right after a reboot and be sure to have sufficient free space on the HD.

  • How do I Add a Picture Frame Around a Flash Video?

I tried searching for this but "frame" has too many meanings. I have flv videos inserted in several web pages, but they look dull without some sort of fancy border or frame around them. Maybe a picture frame. Maybe the image of a flat screen TV surrounding the image. But how do I add the image "behind" the video so that the video sits perfectly inside the image, regardless of the monitor viewing the image.

Do a google search for the IE PNG Fix javascript.  Some work better than others.  The one you had didn't work at all for PNG backgrounds in pre-IE7.
Copy and Paste the following document into a new blank page and see how it looks in all the major browsers.  I changed your document type to XHTML transitional and replaced deprecated <div align> tags with inline CSS styles.  I also ran your Flash code through http://validifyer.com to make it XHTML compliant.

  • Black lines appearing around windows and on screen in Pro 9.3.1

I have just installed the update for Acrobat Pro 9.3.1 and now am getting random black keylines around any windows open on my Mac. It does not matter which application, they are appearing on everything. They also show up on the screen when randomly when clicking around the windows.
I have a Mac Pro 3,1 running OS X 10.5.8. Has anyone any ideas as they are very annoying?! Thanks

Today, 3/31/2008, we received a "patch" from Oracle/Hyperion support that consisted of 3 SQL scripts to apply to the BI+ repository. After applying the folder permissions are now able to be set along with the objects in the folders. We found we lost provisioning for MSAD groups to the reporting ans analysis applications (workspace), but not sure if this happened because of not shutting down all the services including Shared Services. Since this was a dev environment, not a problem, but in our production environment we will ensure a complete listing of the provisioning before applying. Awaiting word from support about the provisioning issue.
There is an open bug report from a different client and apparently this is fixed in 9.5.

  • How to create a fancy picture frame border around an image

    Hi there,
Does anybody know how to create a fancy picture frame around
an image that's inside an AP DIV? I want the image to look like
it's a picture hanging on the wall. Any of your guru's know how to
    do that - eh then?
Thanks a mill for any help!

Find or use your graphics program to create an image of a
    frame you like.
Size it so its inside measurements match your picture.
Option 1 - Paste your picture image on the frame image and
    insert in your container.
Option 2 - Place your frame image as a non-repeating
background for your container and then insert your picture.

  • Black frame around slides

I like the slideshow option in iDVD, but I would like to stretch the pictures all over my TV screen. Now, there is a large black frame around every slide. Is this possible?

To solve this problem to "iDVD" in the menu and choose "Preferences".
Choose the third tab called "Slideshow", you will get a panel with three checkboxes, uncheck the second ("Adjust dia size to tv-area") to fix the issue.
(The option names and descriptions might be incorrect since we use a Dutch MacOSX version.)

    Hi MyAppleID99,
You may want to check to make sure the clip hasn't been moved back and forth between wide screen and standard aspect ratios; sometimes a combination of letterboxing and pillarboxing can lead to a black frame "windowbox" when playing the final video. You may find the following article helpful:

  • Intermittent black border around windows

I've noticed this fault, as have others in relation to a graphics problem that seems to crop up after the machine comes out of sleep.
    http://homepage.mac.com/douglasm/.Pictures/frame.jpg
Shows an example of the fault. This isn't the Voice over box, and seems to be a graphics handling issue, relating to shadowing of some windows. I have noticed inconsistency in how it works. Some OSX system boxes open and don't exibit the fault, whilst applications and folders seem to suffer. Is it possible to turn off window shadowing to test a theory ?

There are black boxes around application windows, such as safari, firefox (like screen tearing). Also, for those scrolling pad on windows, and menu tab on the top are with kinda like a scratch displays. It can be solved by restart the system, but it will appear sooner after.

Its not voiceover. This has happened to my computer ever since I upgraded to 10.6. It always appears after I watch some sort of movie, whether it is on youtube or embedded in a website. Black boxes will form around windows, on my desktop, over the dock. I'll post a screenshot the next time it happens to see if we are talking about the same thing. It goes away if I restart the computer.
