Black plastic part under the screen is loose (MBA 11,6)

The black plastic part under the screen is a little loose. If you press with one finger you push it in and it will move a bit. Anybody else got this problem?

Hi, was it covered under your one year warranty, I opened my Macbook Air one day and heard a crack, when I looked in the back of the computer the hing had broken and something was hanging out of the back. When I tried to close it the screen turned green and then went off, so I took it to repair however was told it probably wasn't covered on the warrant. From googling the issue it appears that many other users have experienced the same thing. I'm assuming if enough users complain it will eventually become covered!

  • My ipad gets a black bar over part of the screen then freezes up, please help

Just today my 16gb ipad 2 ,bought in December 2011, started to get a black bar over part of the screen.  Sometimes 3/4 of the screen sometimes 1/4 then it freezes up and will not do anything.  If I try to reboot it I get a faint backlit only.  Any help would be appreciated!

On the iPad tap Settings > iCloud
Toggle Documents & Data off then back on then restart your iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
On the iMac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Documents & Data then reselect it then restart your iMac.

  • Black "specs" under the screen?

    Hi,
Just got a new 64GB Playbook.  I noticed there are two black specs (irregular looking dots) that look like they are under the glass screen (as I cannot clean it off).  They are quite noticeable when the screen is on a light colored background.  Anyone seen anything like that?  Looks like something is caught under the screen perhaps during manufacturing?
    Thanks,
    Pete

    Hello !
Yes this seems to be unusual.
Well I would recommend that contact BlackBerry  PlayBook Support from the website.
Hope they can resolve your problem!
Or else you can take it to the nearest BlackBerry Authorised Service Centre to look into the matter.!

  • How can I quit my iPhoto screen that as crashed and locked on. The locked screen has no iPhoto file list on the left and the part of the screen that should have uploaded photos is blank except for the rotating download icon in the centre of screen. Help?I

My SD card reader has caused my iPhoto screen to be locked with no list of files on the lefthand side and a blank main photo area apart from the rotating download icon operating in the centre of the photo part of the screen.
I have tried to quit iphoto but when I restart it the same locked screen appears.
I believe I caused this problem when I removed my SD device without first ejecting it when the blank screen appeared without downloading my new photos.
Can anyone help a 66 year old computer illiterate fool ?.
    Regards

Use Force Quit (under the Apple menu at the top) to close iPhoto.  Then try opening it again.  If it locks up again force quit and try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists.
If the problem does not persist try the following: make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If the problem persists in the test library do the following:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Bugs under the screen????

Hi, my Portege M400 laptop came with a manufacturing defect where the screen would separate from the lip of the plastic whenever I'd close it or flip it into tablet mode...But I'd only noticed it once little specs of dirt got underneath it, and I'd tried calling support for them to fix it but they said they wouldn't, keep in mind this was about three years ago, and now I open my laptop to find a little bug crawling under the screen! I'm pretty sure my warranty is out anyway but I accidentally squashed it against the LCD(or whatever type it is)...What should I do? Should I open the top and clean it out or what? I'm kind of worried that there's more somewhere under it, and this one's annoying, it's right on my Firefox URL box!
    Help??
NOTE: I don't have enough money for a new laptop!

zenny53: I've seen no mention yet of whether the same design has been used as the Micro.
Dust getting into the screen is not a function of sealing the screen. It will get in through air gaps e.g. where the buttons are. All I can suggest is keeping it in a good quality case, and away from dusty environments.
As for the headphone socket, technically you can only return the player when it's developed an actual fault. Is the sound reproduction actually effected?

  • Speck of dirt under the screen - extremely annoying!!!  What now?

On the top of my screen about 1/16" under the black border there's a tiny speck of dirt stuck under the screen. I suspect it got in there through the ear-speaker of the headphone jack.
How could it be removed? Is this something the Apple tech could take care of for me? I think the screen would need to be removed. It's annoying the heck out of me!
    -Jacob

People are taking them apart and documenting it all over the web.
    Here's one link: http://stream.ifixit.com/
I probably wouldn't do it, but some people are more hands-on than others.
I'd take it back as I've heard of the Apple store replacing dropped phones free of charge (usually they would not do this). Now is the time to take advantage of Apple's elevated "we want you to be satisfied" sentiment before it fades.
You may get a brand new one just for asking.
The question then becomes "How do you keep dirt specks out?"

  • X1Carbon gap under the screen

    Hi,
Is anybody found a gap between the screen and the "black plastic cover" over the edge of the screen, especially for the bottom side. I doubt this is due to the regularly opening and closing of the screen, which leads to the seperation of the screen and its cover.
I can even see the tapes throug this gap... Can anyone resolve this problem?
    Thank you very much.

  • Dim part of the screen

In previous versions of Captivate you could dim part of the screen, highlighting an area you want to focus on.
I cannot find that in Captivate 7.
Is that still avaialble, and if so, where is it?
    Thanks.

Insert a highlight box and check the option under Properties > Fill and Stroke for Fill Outer Area.

  • How do i zoom into a part of the screen during playback in QT 7.6.6?

I'm analyzing my racing vid from this past weekend and would like to zoom into a part of the screen and cant seem to figure this out.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks, Joe
    QT 7.6.6 Pro
    Windows xp pro
crappy HP laptop but I can go to my desktop Mac Pro

There is no feature in QuickTime Player to zoom into a part of the screen. You can change the size of the full frame (using the options under the View menu or by just dragging the QT Player window larger), but that's the only "zoom" type capability that exists.
    Regards.

  • Is the 2G Touch prone to getting dust/lint under the screen?

I have a Contour Showcase, but it tends to get dust/lint beneath the plastic surrounding the edge of the screen; and the dock and headphone jacks are exposed. I keep the Touch in my pocket, so it collects lint. I get paranoid because I had a cellphone once that got so much lint under the screen I couldn't see anything. I tried using a Power Support screen protector, but it attracted even more lint and only covered the screen itself. Is the Touch likely to accumulate dust/lint under the screen?

It can. Mine has a lot of dust inside the unit that has settled on top of the LCD that got in through a gap between the screen and metal on the right hand side of the iPod (also called a light leak, as when it's used in the dark you can see light emitting through said gap).
Apple has refused to acknowledge the problem.

OK, it now sort of works. A couple of problems here:
After updating IOS, Safari iCloud was "automatically" switched off
Switching it on had no effect
resetting my iPad automatically switched off safari iCloud again
after switching it back on, it said "turning off safari data"
switched it off and on again, now it said : "turning on safari data" and the sync worked
    On IOS 7 no problems
The bookmarks not being displayed was because after pressing the book icon, it defaulted to showing the history and I had to press "Back" to get to the other options

  • Will I get a replacement for dust under the screen?...

    Hey everyone!
I've had an iPhone since the 3G came out and I've never had any problems with dust. My 3G got replaced by 02 insurance about 5 months ago and I got a new 3GS 16GB. Since then I noticed the odd little bit of dust appearing under the screen. Most of the time I couldn't see it so I didn't really care but now I've noticed a few larger pieces and they're really annoying.
I understand that I should get a 12 month warranty with this and surely it's not meant to happen so I'd expect a replacement. I've searched around and I seem to get mixed answers. The problem is that I'm currently working in Cologne and there are only 3 Apple Stores in Germany (I can't believe it!) and the nearest one is still over 100 miles away.
What do you recommend? Would Apple do anything like post one (I doubt it?) or am I going to just have to wait until I'm near Frankfurt (or even back in London) and book an appointment there. Even then... what are my chances of getting a replacement?
Thanks in advance everyone! Much appreciated

I doubt they will give you a replacement. I know here in the States you can take your iphone to an Apple store and they can replace the screen and charge you $200 for that. But I find it hard to believe they would replace the screen for free just because there are dust particles under the glass. That's just my opinion.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Is there another way to close apps other than deleting them from the multitask bar.....I have a small crack in the bottom of my screen and that part of the screen does not recognize the touch.  :(

Is there another way to close apps other than deleting them from the multitask bar.....I have a small crack in the bottom of my screen and that part of the screen does not recognize the touch.

There's generally no reason to be closing them that way at all. The apps you see in the recents bar are just that, apps that you used recently. Most of them are doing absolutely nothing. The only apps that are really doing anything in the background are ones that play music and ones that are using location services. Just leave them be.
    Best of luck.
