Black Plastic Theme

Black Plastic has been changed completely and is a very thourough theme.
d-livil has done an incredible job making this theme and updates it regularly.
i forget to OC my device haldf the time because this theme runs soo smooth on the n900 even at 600mhz!
IT IS A MUST HAVE!!!!
the main black plastic theme is now split into 3 different packages....the main holds the black plastic basic theme and there are 2 addon packs that include other types of themes that are easily changable and still very fluid!   they even have customized icons included.
for some of you who are looking at the meego stuff, you will proly like the pleego theme in the addon pack 2.
you can choose to have what ever font you want, type of transitions, standard or plastic theme, and theme style/color.
below is the code to install all the packs at the same time.   it is about 35MB total, so do it on wifi or 3.5g to aspeed it up.
its faster to use xterm, ut you can go through the app manager too.
open xterm
sudo gainroot
apt-get install black-plastic-theme plastic-addon-pack-1 plastic-addon-pack-2 -y
ENJOY....and if this was good for you,...share your thanks with a kudo.

Hello,
What font is the "cursive-like" font that is being used here Ceroberts75?  I do not see it on my drop-down list in the Plastic Theme Setup.
the font is called tabitha.   you can dl the ttf file from any website woth fonts for free.  i will try to attach it to this post,  but not sure the site will allow me.
hen drop the ttf file to the folder
/usr/share/fonts
open the theme customizer again and you should see the fvont there now.
as for the shortcuts/bookmarks,   if you look at my screen shots,   they have no borders at all or any type set.   just the ppix icon now to take less space.
if you want the original settings,  just inoinstall the theme customizer and it will restore.  if it is just the fonts you are worried about,  there is a drop down  menu on the top right.   choose default.

  • Black plastic piece fell out of printer!

I'm not sure where this black plastic part is supposed to go in my printer. I was messing around and moving the printer then I noticed this black piece on floor of my room. The black plastic part has teeth on it and its a flat square. Does anyone know where it goes? Is it broken? I have a Photosmart 6520.

    karliejw
    Yes, it is broken.
Black plastic bits with teeth are not supposed to fall out of your printer.
Does the mystery printer still work?
If the printer no longer works, then regardless of "what it is" it was important.
If the printer works, you are OK.
If the printer does not work, gather up the broken bit and the printer :  You can take it to a tech, take it to the IT department at your school, or take it to the nearest trash bin.
You can call HP, too.  If you can talk to a printer tech, they might be able to help you identify the part.
You will need to tell HP what kind of printer you have -- lots of printers have black parts in them.

  • Replacing Trackpoint Cap why do the replacements not have the black plastic piece? T420

So I feel like my trackpoint has begun to wear down on my T420 and I went to replace it today with the similar cap from the Trackpoint Cap Collection (73P2698) that I ordered with my machine. When I removed my cap I was suprised to see that there was a piece of black plastic attached to the underside of the cap. None of the caps in the collection have this plastic piece, and I seem to be unable to remove it from the cap. Without the black plastic piece, the caps don't seem to fit correctly.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

I'll try to take it out with tweezers. It is really wedged into the cap. Does the stick have a part number? If I accidentally break it will I be able to call have one sent to me under warranty?

  • Black plastic strip that connects the screen to the keyboard is cracked, ideas for fixing without replacing the whole screen?

The black plastic strip that connects the top portion (screen) to the bottom portion (keyboard) is cracked and getting pretty bad. I brought it in to get fixed, but I was told it is just a costmetic problem. I am worried that soon it will be cracked completely. Is there any way to just replace that portion without replacing the entire screen?

I completely agree. If it does crack all the way through, does it effect the use of the computer though?
I'm just trying to plan ahead.

  • Itouch 1st generation black plastic insert on back corner

Hello, the little black plastic insert on the back corner has popped out and cannot be found.  I know this somehow covers or aids the wifi connection.  Where can I find a replacement for this, and is it necessary?  I was only able to find one online site that listed the small plastic piece at almost $30...!!
    Thanks for the help

It is just a dust cover.  However the real metal antenna appears to be attached to the plastic.  You do need the metal part.  See the forst set of phots in the following:

  • Black plastic part under the screen is loose (MBA 11,6)

The black plastic part under the screen is a little loose. If you press with one finger you push it in and it will move a bit. Anybody else got this problem?

Hi, was it covered under your one year warranty, I opened my Macbook Air one day and heard a crack, when I looked in the back of the computer the hing had broken and something was hanging out of the back. When I tried to close it the screen turned green and then went off, so I took it to repair however was told it probably wasn't covered on the warrant. From googling the issue it appears that many other users have experienced the same thing. I'm assuming if enough users complain it will eventually become covered!

  • IMovie transitions and titles have black behind them

When I first installed iLife, everything worked fine. All of a sudden the titles and transitions have black behind them as if it's not keying right. (eg. the time and date graphic has a black bar behind it that should be there and the comic book look just shows black instead of the video.)
Am I the only person this has happened to?

Hi duff_golf - welcome to the forum!
Firstly, regarding your original post correction - for a short time after posting you can still edit your post. A small icon appears to the left of the other icons on the top right corner of your post. Click on this, edit your post, then click on Edit Message (I think it's called) in the bottom left corner of the Edit screen to republish your edited post.
Now to your problem. The first thing I would do is to close iMovie then delete (trash) iMovie's preference file. It's found in your User>Library>Preferences folder and is named "com.apple.iMovie8.plist". Don't worry, iMovie will create a new .plist file with the default settings when next opened. You may need to go to iMovie>Preferences in the Menu and change some settings to suit your own preference.
Hope this solves your issue. Sometimes the preference file can become corrupted and this can cause iMovie to behave strangely.

  • RAM black plastic ribbon in the way

    Hi all.
I'm trying to install some RAM that I bought from Crucial and install it into the spare slot. Unfortunately the back of the black plastic ribbon appears to be in the way when trying to to insert the RAM.
Is this normal or is there any way around it?

    hi willmx,
That black plastic ribbon is used to pull out the memory from the iMac and it is located in the middle of the memory slot , one end is lose and the other one attached to the memory slot.
So if the plastic is all the way in the slot try with slim tiny tool try to pull it out from the side that is not connected, it is really simple. Otherwise you can do this with no tools...
Take a look at this simple youtube video for memory upgrade:

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes.

  • Where can I get the black plastic feet/plug for a MBp A1278?

One of our children have apparently removed one of the black rubber/plastic feet, from the bottom of my wife's MBp A1278. I would have discounted it as a cosmetic item, but when the wife uses the laptop on a hard surface, it rocks. And well, she is unhappy, so I am here.
I understand that in the process of replacing one, I may have to purchase the entire set. But if it means that she is happy, then it is worth it. And who knows, down the road the kids may take out one of the others....

I talked to 1 person in Apple Store Sales, and 3 people in Apple Support. I could not get this kit ordered over the phone (and it's not available online anywhere). Apple Support advised me to buy 3rd party kits available on Amazon. (Not the same thing.) I made a Genius Bar Appointment at my local Mac store and showed them HT5236 in the Knowledge Base. I walked out with Part Number 076-1398 "MacBook Pro Foot Installation Kit, SIngle-Pack" times 2 since I needed to replace 2 of the feet. Each one was 10 bucks. You need a tiny bit of super glue to install, but it's not an onerous task. It comes with installation instructions. Only tool you need is the screwdriver to open the bottom case.

  • Some Photo thumbnails are black, selecting them crashes app

Scattered throughout my Photos are dozens of photos with black thumbnails. When I select any of these, the image appears full screen but with the arrow overlay indicating that it's a video (which they aren't). One second later, the Photos app crashes.
I have tried un-syncing and removing all photos from the iphone and then re-syncing. I have tried removing them again, rebuilding my iPhoto library and re-syncing again.
The photos that are giving me problems appear to be perfectly fine in iPhoto.
Image 1 http://cl.ly/4Ry0 Overall Photos navigation
Image 2 http://cl.ly/4S29 Selected image incorrectly shown as a video. Just after this, Photos crashes.

    I'm having the exact issue.

  • In the back of the iPad 2 is the Apple Symbol in black plastic.  Does this have a function or is it just a symbol?

There is a similar symbol in dark plastic on the front of my iMac.  It is the remote control sensor cover.  On the top of my Mac Book Air.  In this one, it lights up when the computer is powered on.
I'm curious if the symbol on the back of iPad 2 has a function or is just there for looks.

"The black Apple logo is still in the center of the back, and I assume the Wi-Fi antenna is still located behind it."

  • Is Black Plastic Better?

I am thinking about about buying a Macbook in the next week or two I have read the posts about the cracking of the cases. Do the black Macbook have better cases than the white? I noticed the plastic around the top edge of a Macbook at a local Best Buy was raised a little bit. Would the Macbook Pro be better choice as far as durability.
    Thanks
    Brian

I think my BlackBook is great. I have had it a year and it still looks brand new. I would suggest if you get a black one get a 3M Micro Fiber cloth. Moistened with a little water it will keep your Mac looking good including the screen. I have no gaps or anything like the other complaints I've heard. The MacBook Pro probably is more durable. When I replace my MacBook in a few years that will probably be what I get.

  • When I open a drop down menu from the tool bar, and move the pointer down the list of choices, they become constantly "darkly highlighted" and the typefaces change to black making them unreadable.

As the pointer is moved down the list of choices in a drop down box, once the pointer passes each choice, that choice becomes constantly “darkly highlighted” and the type face of that choice turns black. So, as the pointer moves down the list of choices all of the choices become a block of darkly highlighted black text, making it impossible to read the choices which were passed over by the pointer.
It is though the HTML, JavaScript or Java attribute of ''*<code>onMouseover</code>'' is missing the attribute of ''*<code> onMouseout</code>'', thereby when the user moves the pointer off the boundaries of the element, that element retains the CSS given it by the''*<code> onMouseover</code>''

I should probably add that i am working in asp!

  • Black plastic strip over hinge on july '11 macbook air

The plastic piece which is visible when the notebook is completely closed is the part that is loose. I can slide it side to side, and it makes noise occasionally. The screen doesn't seem to have any play in it, but im not sure if it is just an outer cover over the hinge or the actual hinger. My wife's macbook air has the same problem. Anyone else experience this or have any fixes?

Yes, I have this exact issue! It slides left to right but the actual hinge has no problem closing or opening and is not loose at all. It seems it is just the plastic hinge cover. Does anyone know if this is normal?
