Black Rubber Feet for Macbook Pro Unibody

Hello,
The black rubber feet on the bottom of my macbook pro are beginning to wear down and so my laptop is beginning to slide around on flat surfaces... basically the feet have lost traction.
Is there any way to replace these feet or maybe restore its traction?
Thanks!

Is there any way to replace these feet?
Call Apple support or take it to your nearest Apple retail store or service provider and ask them.

  • Where can I get replacement rubber feet for Macbook Pro 2009?

Does anyone know where I can get the black rubber feet that go on the bottom of a Macbook Pro (2009)?
I have checked with Apple stores and they said they don't have them.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Ha ha! Then my MBP, sitting on top of a RoadTools CoolPad with a 3/4" rise in the rear in addition to that afforded by the Speck hard shell's integrated feet, will surely die of oxygen deprivation...

Replacement rubber feet for MBP unibody. This might sort the issue with the wobble I have.

This is what I sent. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for the input.
    Mr. Cook,
I've been a loyal customer for a decade. Recently three of the four plastic/rubber feet fell off of the bottom of my mid-2009 2.8 GHz MBP S/N W89XXXXXXYB. I called the Apple Store I use most often, Aspen Grove in Littleton, CO. I described the problem to a genius. They told me that they would have replacement feet waiting available at the Genius Bar within a week or so at no charge.
I went to the Aspen Grove Store on Wednesday, December 14, to pick up the feet. I met with a young lady named Kacy. She first told me that she would get the feet for me. She then told me that I had to bring my computer in and a genius would install the feet. Then she went in the back for a few minutes, came out and told me that the feet were not available. She said that I needed a whole new bottom piece, but that it would be covered. Kacy went in the back again, came and told me that the bottom wouldn't be covered after all, that my only option was to pay $186 for a new bottom piece.
About that time the business pro, Greg, came up. After hearing the problem he told Kacy that Apple could cover the bottom piece. They then conferred for a few moments, went back in to the back of the store and returned a few minutes later once again reneging on the offer to replace the bottom piece.
I had an appointment, so I voiced my displeasure with Greg and Kacy about being treated like a Yo-yo.
When I had time later in the evening, I called the Aspen Grove store and asked for the store manager. Instead I was directed to a manager on duty (I think), Hailey. I attempted to explained the situation to Hailey, but she continued to interrupt me, characterize Apple employees offers to take care of the problem and then renege on those offers as a "misunderstanding."  She was completely intractible and began to take on a tone of taunting me about the situation. Exasperated, I ended the call.
Hoping for a different experience, I went to the Briargate store in Colorado Springs on 12/26. Instead, I received a whole lot of "so what," shoulder shrugging and indifference from the employees there.
Sir, I understand that things wear out and break, but it cannot by Apple's position that the only way to replace three plastic feet that maybe cost 50 cents is by buying a $186 replacement part, can it?
The position and attitude of your employees in this matter is such a sea change from the exemplerary customer service I've previously seen that I'm struggling to understand what's changed at Apple. An ipad 3, iphone 5, new laptops for my wife and I and a desktop workstation are all on the wish list for my growing photography business in 2012, but I'm sure you can understand my new found reticence at purchasing more Apple products if this is the way I will be treated.
Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

  • Rubber Feet on Macbook Pro mid 2012 Replacement

One of the rubber feet on the bottom of my Macbook Pro mid 2012 Retina fell off and I would like to replace it. Only parts I can seem to find online are for the entire bottom case (which I don't need) or for non-retina feet. Anyone have this same problem and have a way to just fix the one rubber piece?
    Thanks.

I have a late 2011 MBP and my rubber 'feet' don't slip on my Formica desk surface. It could be that yours are thinning out, I suppose. Some people have had luck with Apple replacing the feet only while others have had to have the bottom casing replaced, feet and all.
Try taking your unit into your local Apple Store and see what they can do for you. I'm sure that they'll charge you something but if it's only for the rubber disks, it shouldn't be much.

  • How can I buy black rubber feet for my mac book pro mid 2009

MY 2009 Mid Mac Book Pro bottom pad came off.  Very very poor design.  These should last forever.  I noticed that this was a design or product failure.  Thus I need the part number to order them.  Cant seem to get any assistance.

I have located the pads on Ebay.  I biggest issue is the design for removal and install.  Yes nothing last forever!! If you look at the message boards they are failing on new product also.  Poor design any way you look at it!!

where can i get the little grey rubber feet for my macbook pro (late 2008 - before the unibody version)

  • I'm looking for screws for the bottom of my macbook pro unibody.

I need screws for the bottom of my macbook pro unibody. They started falling out after I upgraded my RAM, apparently they had some type of threadlock on them. Apple was of little help and directed me to a an apple store or service center which is not convienent. So far, I've been only able to find the 'old' pack of 5 screws, not the pack of 10 that my mac requires. I did find one seller on ebay advertising them but would like to avoid that path if possible. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreaciated. Thanks

No this is not a common problem.  Have you had the bottom off before?
The factory set screws you see a bit if blue lock tight which makes it more difficult the first time out.
They can replace the screws over the counter at any authorized repair service or Genius bar:

  • ACD 30" Dual Link DVI and MacBook Pro Unibody

    I have the following configuration:
ACD 30" Dual Link DVI and MacBook Pro Unibody
I am exhibiting some intermittent problems with the 30" display not coming up when I reboot for example and here are some more:
    1. MacBook Pro not in clam-shell mode and restart equals 30" display not turning on
    2. When in Snow Leopard and I have the MacBook Pro running in clam-shell mode and I open the display on the MacBook Pro it remains black.
    3. When waking the MacBook Pro from sleeping (MacBook Pro in clam-shell) the 30" ACD is "grainy" and the display is not usable and it requires a reboot to solve the problem.
Any help? In addition are there any other displays using mini-display port to mini display port technology?
What about a different monitor; will I still have to use the Dual Link DVI adapter to drive a display with higher than 1920x1200 resolution?
Are there adapters to go from mini-display port to display port?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Just came across your post and i have a couple of suggestions ive noticed with the Dual-Link to Mini-DP with the same configuration.
When working in clamshell mode for example, the 30" will become the MAIN/Default display...So if you open your macbookpro while the 30" is on and the system is running, the screen will remain black because it is in closed mode; basically meaning there is no signal to be sent.
so if you want the display to show up, either restart or put into sleep mode, then wake the system WITH THE LID OPEN.
As for the grainy/static artifacts, its beena reported issue since day 1, not sure waht the fix or issue may be with it but heres a resolution.
Press; SHIFT CONTROL EJECT-KEY all at once, this will disable signal to the monitor, but not shut off the machine...then use your mouse or press a key on the keyboard to wake the display and the grainyness should disappear.

  • MacBook Pro Unibody (late 2008) crash when using GeForce 9600M GT

Every time I do heavy 3D rendering or play 3D games (such World of Warcraft) with the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, after few minutes my MacBook Pro (unibody, late 2008) freezes, black screen and audio looping, no actions possibile, only hard shutdown... No problems with the 9400M.
What should I do? Get a replacement?

I've had mine for a little less than two months and I noticed the overheating shortly after I got it. I think it's mostly because the fans don't spin up soon enough because the SMC controller on mine does not work properly and even if you reset it, it reverts back to only spinning the fans after a cpu/gpu temps over 90 degrees Celsius (almost boiling point!).
Mine is currently in for service but I'm being told that they haven't been able to duplicate the issue so I don't understand what method of testing they are using. I hope they don't keep my computer in repair for a long time. I know that if I fire up the Black & White 2 Demo, Call of Duty 4, or Spore and play for about 10-20 minutes the computer crashes if the fans don't spin up... Apple released a firmware update for the SMC controller but it doesn't apply to my model which is a MacBookPro 5,1 , maybe Apple doesn't realize yet how widespread the fan problem even on the late 2008 model is but it needs to be resolved and a third party utility to control the fans should not be necessary on the finest laptops available on the market. I'm confident that they will come up with something...

  • Can you swap an SSD from a MacBook pro C2Duo to an MacBook pro unibody

I have a very trusty 17" MacBook pro core 2 duo that's due for an upgrade. Is it possible to swap my current SSD from my MBP C2D to my new 17" MacBook pro unibody? Im thinking there might be a problem with drivers? It will save me a lot of hassle trying to reinstall all of my pro apps particularly FCP. If it comes to it I'll have to do a fresh install.
    Thanks for any help

You have to install either the current OS that you were using on the new Mac or the version that Came on that new Mac when it was new. Not the OS that was on the drive when it was installed in the older Mac.
If Lion was the pre-installed OS on the new Mac that is what you have to install and there is only one way to do that. That is do use the Lion recovery system to Download Lion from the internet and then install it. Holding down the c key (or Command+c key) would do it.

  • How can I know if my new internal hd for macbook pro is compatible?

I have been trying to upgrade my internal HD for macbook pro early 2008 2.4 and have been having a hard time getting it to boot.  Problems with both WD and Seagate.  I am wondering if the problem is with Mavericks.  I got a good back up from Time Machine to load on the hybrid drive.  Then when I try to restart it shows the apply symbol with no chime and then a black screen comes over the blue screen with some code (strange problem I have never seen) I can see that all the data is on the drive.  I was able to partitian in disk utility.  Anything ringing a bell.  I have done several switches like this and this is the first time I have had so much trouble.  I reinstalled my old drive just to make sure there was not another hardward issue and everything is fine there.  In fact I have a new logic board freshly installed by mac.

Your machine has a SATA 2 interface and I'm sure the new drives are SATA 3. They should still step down and work though. It's possible your SATA cable is marginal and the newer drive is trying to demand more out of it than the old one did. A good test would be to put the new drive in an external enclosure and see if it works ok from there. If so, it's probably the cable.

How did you install Mavericks on the new drive?

Here is apple's instructions in calibrating the battery KB Article
As for leaving it plugged in, that's the normal process most people do, there is circuitry in the computer to ensure the battery does not get over charged. Aside from calibrating it, I'd avoid any deep cycles, that is draining it completely, you're better off plugging it in when you have the opportunity and not wait until the battery is nearly drained. Deep cycles can shorten the life span of the battery.
