Black screen and can't wake up then

Hello,
I have a MacPro 1,1 (2006) 2.66GHz that it is always working as a home server.
After some time working idle the screen goes black. When I want to wake up there is no response. The screen turns into safe energy mode blinking his LED light power indication. I have to force shutting down pushing phisically the power button for some seconds.
What do you think about this strange behavior?
Graphic Card problem? I have another one but I don't test it for now.
I have made a PRAM reset and SMC reset shutting down the MacPro, unplug the power and push the power button for 10 seconds. No results at all.
Even putting Energy System Preference on NEVER (computer sleep and screen) after some time (2-3hours) the MacPro goes to black screen.
Any help will be appreciated!  Thanks!

I had changed the fans of the X1900 with the AceleroX2 following the instructions on this website from xlr8yourmac.com: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/Graphics/Mac_X1900XT_Silent_Cooler.html
It has been working with no problems until right now.
Probably even replacing the original fans of X1900 to AceleroX2 may be some dust on it. I will try to blowing it.
Thanks for your quick reply!

  • MacBook Pro bought in August 2013 Black Screen and Can't See the Cursor

I took the OSX update in the beginning of November and now when I lift up the lid of the notebook and press 'on' I get a black screen and can't even see the cursor.  I've tried pressing command + control + p + r.  I've also tried command + s.  Neither seems to fix this issue.  Are there any other suggestions to try?  Thanks in advance.

  • NB550D boots into black screen and can't even turn off

I've had my NB550D for just under a month. I've upgraded the memory to 2Gb and the Op System to Home Premium, but nothing else. It's on auto update re security issues and I've stayed with the McAfee protection that was pre-installed (and paid for a year).
Everything fine until a couple of days ago when switching on, I just got black screen. Could hear fan and disk though. Eventually pressed the on/off button, nothing changed, waited a bit, pressed it again and it turned off. When I pressed again it came on as normal. Used it several times over last couple of days and was fine. Now today I switch on and black screen again, and can hear fan. When I eventually pressed switch, I could hear disk whirr but still just black screen. Since then have tried pressing on/of switch occasionally but no change at all - can't even get it to switch off!
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
    Flingel

I read in another forum that the answer is to take the battery out (having already taken the mains out) so it'll die and then press and hold the power button for 30 - 60 seconds. I had nothing urgent to do so let it die naturally when the battery ran out rather than take the battery out when it was on. I then held the power button for 60 seconds, plugged it into the mains and switched on again. It's started fine now but of course I don't know a) whether that's because I held the power button in for 60 seconds and b) whether same thing's going to happen again, so if anybody does have experience of this behaviour, I'd be grateful for comment.

  • My iPod Touch 4G suddenly went black screen and can't be recognized by iTunes or my computer...AND my Home Button is broken. What can I do?

I was just casually on my iPod and I put it in sleep mode really quick and when I went to use it again, it wouldn't pull up the Lock Screen! All I want to do is update it, but now I can't...anyone got any advice for this specific situation?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode ue one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • When I try to download something, I get a black screen, and can't download ANYTHING.

I tried to download a program from the internet using Firefox, and it gets to the .exe screen, goes black, and doesn't actually start the download....anyone know why?

The Adobe Add On is causing the problem. I have Adobe Reader on my system, so this solution allows me to use this fix:
    1. Open Firefox.
    2. Go to TOOLS.
    3. Go to ADD-ONS.
    4. Select the PLUGINGS icon at the top.
    5. Disable the ADOBE ACROBAT plugin.
    6. Close ADDONS windown.
    7. Select PDF link; Firefox should download and allow Adobe Reader to open for you (no longer opens in Firefox).

Since it will not boot then a hardware test can't be run. You could try FireWire Target Disk Mode and if it works then access from another Mac to run tests on the new drive. You could also try installing the OS X software from the host computer. If this does not work then professional help should be considered.

My iMovie is now skipping when I try to edit and then the clips just go to a black screen and I can only hear the audio, this has been going on for a week and I don't know what to do?!? Any help?

  • The screen on my MacBook goes black often. I can still see a faint image of what's on the screen, and can only get it to illuminate by moving it back and forth. What could the issue be? How can it be fixed?

The startup disk may need repairing ...
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the disk needs repairing, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.

Thanks for the straightforwardness roaminggnome - I wasn't sure if this problem qualified as deseving a reset. Unfortunately, for some reason I can't explain, your response remained undisclosed to me for a while, the next reply after yours took preference and I ended up doing as Meg St.Clair's susgested and initiated download, installation and syncing of Smartsync which is now taking ages to finish... If problem persists shall do the resetting and restoring.
