Black screen before booting and diod flashing

Hi, i have problem with my new macbook pro 2011 with OS X Lion. when i open notebook it starts from sleep. after 5 sec grey notification with"system will restart" on five langueges. when it shut down and i start it. the csreen is black and diod flashing and notebook sounding. Pls everybody help me. How i repairt it?? What i have to do?

Sounds like you've had a kernel panic.
Can you start up at all yet?  Do you have any USB devices, or other external equipment attached?  If yes, try unplugging them first.
What do you mean by "diod flashing"?  Do you mean the "sleep light"?
If you don't have any external devices attached and still can't start up, try starting up and straight away after the startup sound hold the "alt" key.  Then select the "Recovery HD" and click the arrow underneath it to start up into it.  You can then try and repair your hard drive with DiskUtility, which you can find at the top under "Utilities" (before any Lion re-installation).
Edit:  Sorry, as I've never been there yet myself I just assumed it was like in the past, when starting up with DVD or CD, but in the Recovery HD you can find DiskUtiility right there at the bottom of the main window, after you've selected your language.

When booting my computer in UEFI mode, occasionally, my monitor does not wake from sleep and the screen remains black until Windows takes over and the login screen displays. This seems to usually occur after the computer has been powered off for more than 10 minutes. Sometimes this never happens, the screen remains black the whole time, and I need to hard reset. Sometimes it boots fine.
This black screen / no signal issue also occurs far more frequently when attempting to resume from sleep. I strike a key on the keyboard or hit the power button while the computer is in sleep mode, the computer wakes up, but the monitor never turns on. This forces me to either hard shutdown or reset in order to restore graphics.
In addition, I have a Razer keyboard that shuts off its backlight when the display is turned off, and it remains off when this problem occurs. This likely means that there is a problem with the card, drivers, or something else, rather than cabling. I might just RMA if we don't get anywhere here.
Perhaps a good first step would be ensuring that my card is flashed with the latest vBIOS. Can you send a link to that?
I'm also wondering if ULPS might be interfering, even though I am not in a CrossFireX setup.
Other than this MAJOR issue, the card works fine when playing 3D games. Though, I had major issues with video artifacts when playing 2D games or doing anything else simple (web browsing, moving windows) because of the absolutely terrible decision to underclock the past couple generations of AMD cards so much that the GPU can't function. I solved this by modifying an OverDrive profile to raise the idle clock to 850 MHz, but not overclocking at all.
    Thank you.
Meta discussion for the mods (feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss this further, in order to keep the discussion here on topic): sorry for not immediately opening up another forum topic when commenting on this issue. Every single other community that I've been a part of prefers to keep users with the same problem on the same thread. In my experience, mods yell at people for opening up duplicate bug reports and duplicate issues far more than they ask people to fragment information across multiple threads, therefore making it difficult to consolidate information.

It could be a mobo issue, but all of the quirks seem to point to the card.
I do not recall if I tested the card in another PC, but I no longer have a second desktop to test with.
I do think I tested an NVIDIA card on a separate Windows install with this build though. No issues there if my memory serves correctly. I've been troubleshooting this issue for months, and I'm becoming tired of this stubborn problem, so the attempts at problem-solving are becoming blurred.
    vBIOS is attached.

  • Dell Latitude E6510 Black screen before posting during cold boot

When I cold boot my laptop,I get about 10sec of black screen before the laptop posts..1st gen. i5 core,4gb DDR3 80GB Intel X25-M Nvidia NVS 3100 graphics with 512MB RAM.

I received a new XPS13 9343 last week and unpacked it yesterday (Friday 4/24/2015). When I first opened the lid and powered it up there was no display. It was completely black, not blank. I went to close the lid and when slightly jarring it I noticed that the initial screen appeared but briefly.
After analyzing the symptom I decided:
It is a physical issue - not firmware related
While I apply very slight pressure compressing the lower right corner of the display it will function
It is the LCD backlight that is intermittent as the image is perfect otherwise and turns on an off with pressure not quite instantaneously
Once the laptop warms (2 minutes) the display becomes completely reliable and unaffected by lid motion
My bet is that this is a problem with the conductive rubber mounting strip used to make the many connections to the LCD panel. Envision a very thin foam double sided tape with the characteristic that current can only flow front to back through the thin dimension of the tape. Adjacent pads (connection points) are not shorted by the tape and pads (carefully) aligned on the other side of the tape are connected. Its very ingenious actually.
In my case probably the circuit for the LCD backlight is at the end of a strip on the bottom right. It didn't properly bond during production. Probably once current flows through it (when I compress the display or hold the lid in just the right position) the adhesive warms and grabs hold. It probably doesn't take much to pass the low currents involved. I wonder if after some use or exposure to warmer operating conditions if it might not finally bond permanently and the issue go away?
Anyway this is what happens when you present an engineer with a problem, it gets over analyzed. You would like to think that within hours of posting this a bunch of production engineers will run over to all of the fixtures in their facilities that are used to assemble the displays and make sure there isn't one out of adjustment. Uneven clamping force or some such science.
The problem now for me is in finding out if I need to replace it and how much of a pain that is going to be. Unfortunately now I don't want to migrate from my prior laptop if I am going to have to send this one off someplace.
In some way this represents a security feature. Haha. I mean there is a trick to getting the thing to come up that I would only know. Another level of security at no extra charge. Still, one wishes to not have a quality concern floating in the back of your mind.
But, this might be your issue too. Anyone else have this experience?

Win 7/Z580: Black screen on boot up, before login screen?
    =======================================
I find some interesting posting in this forum. Thanks for keeping this forum to help windows/Lenovo community. I like to pick up the brain of this forum to resolve the black screen issue. I am not sure, whether it caused by virus. I use Microsoft Security Essentials. I am not able to run this in command prompt.
I started my laptop this morning & login screen showed up. Once I entered my login credentials, I heard the sound that usually plays once a login is successful, but I ended up with a black screen. After this occurred, I had to hold down the power button to manually shut down the computer. Once I started it up again, I was prompted to do a system repair, which eventually ended up with all successful outcomes, but I now have a black screen with a cursor before the login screen now. I have no idea what caused this to happen. My laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad Model Z580 (500 GB HD, 6GB RAM).
I am not able to get into safe mode or any other mode, which all leads to a black screen described above. I am able to use the "Repair Your computer" tools after pressing F8 during booting only . All other options leads to Black screen with cursor in the middle
Last Known Good Configuration leads to same
Enable Low Resolution Video (640x480) leads to same My Z580 is not responding to CTRL+ALT+DEL Windows Logo keys as well.
**** I tried SAFE Mode. It loaded couple of drivers and paused at CLASSPNP.SYS load. It went to Black screen with cursor at center.
I am able to invoke control pannel from Command prompt of working PC by typing control.
Z580 PC is not responding to control from command prompt (under Repair Your computer)  either.
Z580 is able to use the "Repair Your computer" tools after pressing F8 during booting .
Under local user login it provided Start Repair option. As I pick this option, I got the following. Problem signature

  • Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

I've been reading around that there's a common problem with the 1000 series of tablets. After 1 1/2 years, the sucker gets a black screen at boot up, yet the lights are on.
Well, almost a week to my tx2000's 1 1/2 year date (and now out of warranty), I tried to take my tablet out of hibernation. The screen was black yet the lights were on and I could hear the fan.
I tried basic troubleshooting with the online tech, but to no avail. It doesn't work, and they tell me it'll cost about $400 for it to be picked up and repaired. Anybody got a viable solution, or do I just need to go ahead and start saving for a Mac?
Thanks HP for reselling such faulty merchandise.
    http://www.mycheaplaptop.net/2009/03/never-buy-hp-laptop/

So this most likely does not apply to the tx1000 problem, but I believe the tx2000 recent problem is not related.
For those getting lights and fan on.. or perhaps on for a second or so but no boot screen or logo it maybe related to your video card driver.
Sounds crazy right?  Well your video card driver controls how your computer goes into hibernation and sleep.  If the drivers are incorrect the system may not handle this process correctly when you try to reboot it.
I'm not certain on how to get the system to boot up again, but I've done it quite a few times while trying to revive the machine.. pulled the battery.. the ram.. held the power button.. lots of cussing.. the solution seemed different each time, but eventually if you can get back into windows you'll find that either by not using hibernation/sleep or by loading the original video card drivers from the hp site, you'll avoid this problem again.
This problem started occurring for me after microsoft made available a driver update on windows update this past summer..  then suddenly everyone started having issues at the exact same time.. I've seen it blamed on simultaneous heat issues around the world caused by exactly 1 year and 2 months of dust collection on every tx2000 laptop... however I'm quite certain it's the new video drivers in combination with hibernation/sleep.
But don't take my word for it.  For more information on how video drivers can affect the boot process check this site: http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-10878_11-1046825.html

  • Won't boot. Gong sound and Black screen alternate over and over and over.

So yesterday, on a Mac Pro (newer, came with slim keyboarboard) I tried to launch iPhoto. The Icon bounced as though it was opening like 4 different times then suddenly the screen dropped to a really low resolution (i could tell by the size of the cursor) and all blue. Nothing would save it, so I forced it to shut down. Now, when trying to boot it cycles between the gong and a black screen. Over, and over. Even when booting from a disk. If I hold down option it will take me to the screen to select a drive/disk/partition to boot from, but as soon as one is selected: black, gong, black, gong, etc.
I think it's important to note that this bad boy is equipped with Faronics Deep Freeze. It's had problems 3 times within the past month or so, where a clean re-image is necessary. Any ideas on the problem would be great!

    Hi Riley Florence;
I hope you have a back up because it sounds like your hard drive has given up. I suggest that it time for it to go back to Apple.
After reading some of the reviews on Faronica Deep Freeze and its security vulnerabilities, I am not going to install it on any of my Macs.

  • Black screen at boot MSI Z77A-G43 with HD7850

    Hi,
I've tried everything You suggested in this topic. I've upgrade and downgrade bios (official 2.3, 2.4, 2.8, 2,9 / beta 256, 281,296) few times but still is black screen at boot. Now i'm on the newest beta bios 296 and still same issue on Sapphire HD 7850 with my Z77a-G43 board. I know for sure that sapphire working well because I've checked on other mobo with even worst PSU (400W instead 550W Volcano). Before hd 7850 I had gtx460 and swith those few times and always gtx460 works fine, so I don't understand anything right now.
Tried different slots, also clear cmos.
    Board: MSI Z77A-G43

Can You help me somehow, maybe I did not check something else?

Do you see the same problem on bios 2.90?
The Z77A-G43 seems the have difficulties accepting HD7xxx AMD VGA cards lately.
It seems that the problem is gone. I thought of it being an ATI driver issue ~ but not even the latest didn't fix it. But since I flashed to BIOS 2.9 I haven't encountered the problem anymore. So I believe something is fixed between 2.3 to 2.9.
However my problem was a bit different that the OP has.
Oh, and I said this on other thread so I say it here too: MSI and Asus 7xxx cards haven't faced the kind of issues Sapphires are having. I'm so glad to my choice... as I almost picked Sapphire but then read comments on Newegg which weren't in favor for Sapphire.

  • Black screen on boot /w four red LEDs on D-Bracket

Whenever I go switch the power off on my PSU and turn it back on, and after pressing the power button on the front of the computer it doesn't post it acts as if I kept pressing the reset button.
The D-braket shows 4 red leds (which means damaged/not installed processor).
But if I hold the power button to turn if off, then I turn it back on it works flawlessly!
Am I doing something wrong? I didn't have this problem before.
    Specs are below....
    BioHaz

I did a Google search and found this below...
This happens to be my exact same problem, it happens when you turn on the PSU switch then turn on the computer immediately after that. It seems like you just have to wait.
    Is this a common problem?
    Should I worry about this?
    Quote
The old black screen on boot up with four red LEDs on the D-Bracket
    is a fairly common problem.
So far I've only seen four fixes for the problem.
    1.  Defective motherboard (Although this is seldom the problem)
    2.  Power supply is defective, or you forgot to connect the four
wire auxiliary power connecter to the motherboard.  The auxiliary power
connecter must be connected for this motherboard to work.
    3.  Your reset switch is stuck.  Disconnect the reset switch from the
motherboard, then try to boot up.
    4.  This one is weird.  It fixed my problem, however, based on the
troubleshooting you've done, I don't hold out hope it will fix yours.
For some strange reason, some MSI motherboards will not boot
if you've just plugged them in.  Plug in the computer, make sure
the power strip and the switch on the power supply are all in the
"ON" position, then go grab a beer.  After waiting a couple of minutes,
    turn on the computer.
I know it sounds weird.  But I have the same motherboard and CPU.
If I turn on the power strip and attempt to boot my computer immediately,
I get a black screen and four red LEDs.  If I turn on the power strip and
wait a minute or two, the computer boots up every time and works
    perfectly.
    Hope this helps.

some people are having problems with that board! (no idea what is going on with it)
just for the sake of problem checking can you take out your CPU and look at the pins in the cpu socket with a bright light and a magnifier (check multiple angles) to see if any of the pins are bent?
a few of the pins are indeed a little bent out of position, would it be best to return the board or should i be able to bend them back into the correct position?

  • PowerBook 17" 1.33ghz - Black Screen on Boot

Three out of four boot times, this PowerBook fails to boot into the GUI and instead displays a black screen. HD and CD are both running when this happens but there is nothing on the display and the HD does not make normal operation sounds but simply spins. Sometimes, if I wait, it goes to GUI but most times it doesn't. I have run every possible test I can think of from Disk Permissions to Safe Boot to booting with and without battery. Please help if you can.

    Same problem here - with a friend's 15" PowerBook G4.
Once turned off, it takes many start up trials before the machine will finally boot to the desktop - sometimes up to 20 tries!
Pushing the power button will get no start up chime & black screen - so the only indicator that the machine is running will be the faint humming of the hd spin - or hitting the Caps Lock key to see the light come on.
Running Disk Utility from an external drive found no problems - TechTook Pro came up with 1 bad black in the Surface Scan.
Can one bad block cause this issue, or is there something more substantial ?
    Hardware Test maybe ?

In what DIMM slots did you insert your memory?  I just got and at this moment building a new computer with a 970.
A horrible experience I had with my last build reminded me of it.  My board was am MSI A88XM-E45.  DIMM1 is blue, DIMM2 is black, DIMM3 is blue, & DIMM4 is black.  When using two sticks of RAM, it says to install one on DIMM1 & the other in DIMM3 (Makes sense... After all, it's color colored that way).
Well it would not boot.  I reseated every component and for HOURS tried almost everything.  Finally I decided to place my two sticks of RAM in the first two DIMMS and viola!
I think I will begin this build the same way.
