Black Screen before Windows XP Logon

First of all: Hi everyone! I've been reading thesse forum for some time, but I could't find exactly my problem.
I have Windows XP Pro Corp installed on my PC. When I start the computer and Windows is loading, appears the initial screen (that with black background, and the Windows Logo and a blue progress bar). After that, the logon screen should be displayed, but instead of it, the monitor gets black, just like if it was turned off.
I tried to make some fixes, using the Windows Recovering Console, repartitioning the hd... I even installed Windows 2000. When I do that, the system seems to work properly for a few days, but after those few days, it happens again.
I know it's not a problem of the hd, because I ran the seagate tests twice (almost 9 hours!! ).
I suspect is the Kingston memory, because I read somewhere that there is an issue between MSI i865PE Neo2 and a some Kingston DDR modules.
Please, can you help me? I've spent 850€ on my new PC and I can't make it works.
Thank you very much.

You wont harm your RAM with 2.7 Volts And Believe Me Lokk at Everyones Signatures, or Look in the FAQ's by Maesus, Raising the DRAM Voltage is the First thing we tell people to do if there is a Problem booting the PC......And as Far as the AGP Aperature is concerned, Depending on how much memory you have in your system (512MB) and How much RAM is Onboard the Vidio Card, I have mine set to 256MB, but I also have Twice the Amount of System RAM, and Both of My Vidio Cards Also Have 256MB of Vidio RAM onboard..I would Suggest that you set your AGP to Either 64 or 128MB, and You Really Should Invest in another 512MB RAM Module, so you can Enjoy the Performance that your Motherboard is Supposed to Operate at, when you have 2 Modules of RAM installed, 1Module in DIMM Socket A-1, and the Other module in DIMM Socket B-3, and you Must Make sure that you Get the Same Memory Type and Size Module that you have now, Meaning you cant go out and Buy another Stick of 128MB or a 256MB Stick of RAM, it Has to Be a 512MB Module......And here is an AGP Aperature Article, and Believe Me, AGP aperature is Nowhere Near as Important as it Used to be, Because of the Size of the Onboard Vidio Card Memory of Today 128MB as the Lower amount of Card memory, and 256MB as the Norm, it made a Difference when Vidio cards had a Norm of 8-12MB, and 32 Was alot , so it is Not as Critical these Days >>>  http://www.tweak3d.net/articles/aperture-size/     .........Let us Know when you make the BIOS Changes.....................Sean REILLY875

  • Black screen before Windows installation

I have already installed Windows 7 before and I had no problems with the installation. The reason why I decided to reinstall Windows is when I was trying to start BootCamp I only got black screen. This started to happen after  I did hard reboot. I did this because Windows freezed.
I deleted Windows on my MacBook and then I tried to install Windows again. After BootCamp Assistant splited hard drive (1st part for Mac OS X,  2nd part for Windows) OS X shutted down and after that I heard Mac sound (sound when You start Mac). And then I can only see black screen ( also there was a console cursor for a second ).
Why black screen started to happen?
    and
    How can I avoid it?

  • Sat A665 - S6092 black screen before windows startup

I got a problem, it is strange. Sometimes windows starts and sometimes it doesnt. I normally press the power button, then it appear toshiba logo, then it appears a little line blinking at the top of the black screen and then it goes completely black, nothing happens. If I press ctrl + alt + del it reboots, but it I press the power button it turns off roughly. Sometimes I reboot 2 times and windows starts, sometimes 10 times and it starts, and sometimes it starts normally. What can I do? Thank you

I have the same problem with my Sat665d for about 1mth. Finally it got worse and worse. Problem is that your hard drive is failing and that you should back up your files asap while you still can. Toshiba is replacing my hard drive. I'm packing my laptop in the box they sent me. It's all prepaid shipping etc. Fed ex is picking it up in the morning. My laptop was under the 1yr manufactures warranty. So i hope yours is under warranty, otherwise you have to pay for new hard drive. They are relatively cheap about $60.00 -$100.00 depending how big it is. I hope this helps you before it's to late.

  • Black Screen Installing Windows 7 with Bootcamp

I know it sounds like a known problem, but if tried alot of solutions i found on internet but noting worked yet.
    Here is some information:
Mac Mini mid 2011 (2.7 GHz)
I've installed windows before, but I have added a second SSD. al workes fine.
Installed OS X with a backup on de new SSD. Tried to start Windows with Parallels, but it couldn't find it anymore.
No problem I thought just format the old hdd and reinstall windows.
    Now this is what happens:
I start bootcamp. let it make a usb drive with an windows iso and the support software.
Now I create a partition on the hdd (150GB should do it).
Mac restarts. I hear the startup tune. A short white screen.
But then a black screen. no windows logo, or whatelse.
    I tried reseting NVRAM.
I found a lot of sites telling me to delete some files, but that is very difficult when there are no files.
I tried a lot of restarts and selecting the booting device. And just waiting for a few hours, but the screen stays black.
I even tried a partition on the SSD and using the whole hdd.
So what is the problem? I'm out of idea's.

Another thing I forgot to mention was that when I had windows, installed and running and had black screen issue on rebooting, I used to verify and repair my permissions using disk utility. All my permissions would get fixed and windows would boot up fine. But however when trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 over the past few days, all but one permission does not get fixed. Apple's support site says it can be safely ignored. But I feel this could be causing my problem. Here is the error from disk utility:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.

I am having the exact same problem with my 13" early 2011 Macbook Pro. I have 10.6.8. I used the disk that came with the laptop to restore the OS to 10.6.7 but the problem existed there too. I have now updated it back to 10.6.8. The problem still exists. This doesn't seem to be limited to an OS version and seems like an issue with device driver or with hardware. I will try to take it to the Apple store and see if this gets resolved.
You too have a black screen in Windows 7. ?

  • HT3986 i get a black screen during windows 7 installation on bootcamp 5.0.1

i get a black screen during windows 7 installation on bootcamp 5.0.1 , it wont install

    Hi wb2009,
I haven't found that the TV would be an issue, but did find an article that states to not have extra USB devices connected.
Boot Camp: Windows installation boots to black screen with blinking cursor
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4536
The Windows installation may boot to a black screen with a blinking cursor. This can occur if you use a USB optical drive or USB Flash drive for the Windows installation and another USB device is also connected to the computer.
There's another article that mentions Windows XP or Vista that may apply.

  • Black screen during windows 7 install on 27inch iMac

  • BLACK SCREEN stating "windows could not start because the following is miss

I installed Bootcamp update 2.1 and then XP SP3.
Now when I start up my Mac I am getting a BLACK SCREEN stating "windows could not start because the following is missing or corrupt: <windows root>\system 32-hal.dll Please re-installl a copy of hte above file"
I tried to use the option key and insert the Windows CD but it won't start up.
Also, when I start up I must use the option key and select the Mac OS and it will start up and everything is fine there. Advice appreciated.

Did you ever solve this? I had updated to BC 2.1 (After updating Apple Software Update al on the Windows side) I waited & just tonight tried to install SP-3. It appeared to install & When I was prompted to restart--I also got the black screen. Mine said:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:\Windows\inf\biosinfo.inf
You can attempt to repair the file by starting Windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM. Select ‘r’ at the 1st screen to repair.
I just force powered off & booted into Mac.
I think I need to restart my Mac into Windows (using the Option key ) WHILE THE WINDOWS XP CD is in the optical Drive. Then maybe I’ll get a choice to select ‘r’ to repair at the 1st screen?
You may need to do essentially the same thing. I do not know if this problem is a boot camp problem of just a Windows problem.
    Sure is annoying,
    Good luck!

  • Dell Latitude E6510 Black screen before posting during cold boot

When I cold boot my laptop,I get about 10sec of black screen before the laptop posts..1st gen. i5 core,4gb DDR3 80GB Intel X25-M Nvidia NVS 3100 graphics with 512MB RAM.

I received a new XPS13 9343 last week and unpacked it yesterday (Friday 4/24/2015). When I first opened the lid and powered it up there was no display. It was completely black, not blank. I went to close the lid and when slightly jarring it I noticed that the initial screen appeared but briefly.
After analyzing the symptom I decided:
It is a physical issue - not firmware related
While I apply very slight pressure compressing the lower right corner of the display it will function
It is the LCD backlight that is intermittent as the image is perfect otherwise and turns on an off with pressure not quite instantaneously
Once the laptop warms (2 minutes) the display becomes completely reliable and unaffected by lid motion
My bet is that this is a problem with the conductive rubber mounting strip used to make the many connections to the LCD panel. Envision a very thin foam double sided tape with the characteristic that current can only flow front to back through the thin dimension of the tape. Adjacent pads (connection points) are not shorted by the tape and pads (carefully) aligned on the other side of the tape are connected. Its very ingenious actually.
In my case probably the circuit for the LCD backlight is at the end of a strip on the bottom right. It didn't properly bond during production. Probably once current flows through it (when I compress the display or hold the lid in just the right position) the adhesive warms and grabs hold. It probably doesn't take much to pass the low currents involved. I wonder if after some use or exposure to warmer operating conditions if it might not finally bond permanently and the issue go away?
Anyway this is what happens when you present an engineer with a problem, it gets over analyzed. You would like to think that within hours of posting this a bunch of production engineers will run over to all of the fixtures in their facilities that are used to assemble the displays and make sure there isn't one out of adjustment. Uneven clamping force or some such science.
The problem now for me is in finding out if I need to replace it and how much of a pain that is going to be. Unfortunately now I don't want to migrate from my prior laptop if I am going to have to send this one off someplace.
In some way this represents a security feature. Haha. I mean there is a trick to getting the thing to come up that I would only know. Another level of security at no extra charge. Still, one wishes to not have a quality concern floating in the back of your mind.
But, this might be your issue too. Anyone else have this experience?

  • Black Screen before installing windows 7. Lets solve once and for all.

I have a late 2008 macbook pro and have been trying to install windows 7 through boot camp for a number of days now. I have read every forum on the internet and have tried every popular solution (i.e. resetting pram, smc, unplugging, changing screen resolution, etc.) and nothing has worked. I know there are many other people with this problem but none of them have solutions. I had windows 7 installed a few months ago but it stopped working and I had to delete it. Just yesterday I reinstalled Snow Leopard and still nothing. I created the partition and tried to install windows but it just goes to the blinking cursor for one second, then a black screen. I have tried everything possible and nothing works.
Please lets try to get this problem solved because out of every single forum on the internet, none of them have solved this problem.

I think after weeks of searching I have finally narrowed it down, based on what I have read, to a disk drive problem. It seems to be something wrong with the EFI or the entire disk drive in general. I am taking it to the apple store tomorrow and I highly doubt they will do anything.

Just tried to boot up from a windows 7 install disk, but I just got a black screen. Nothing else happened. Tried using an xp and vista disk also, but they both produced the same results. I've installed windows plenty of times from this computer before, but for some reason this time it decided not to work.

The only other relevant Support document is this one: If your Mac won't turn on - Apple Support but if your Caps Lock LED illuminates when you press it then your Mac is not completely dead. Technically, it turns on, even though it appears to do nothing else. In that case Apple refers you to the following document: Troubleshooting: My computer has no video but I doubt it will help because you cannot even get your Mac to start.
You will need to obtain the System Install DVD as I wrote, so that you can start the Mac, load an operating system, and format the SSD so that OS X can be installed. You might need to remove the SSD and install a conventional hard disk drive instead, at least until you can get the Mac working to the point you can install an operating system.
