Black screen, dead. Nothing works.

My iPod is dead, and when I say dead I really mean dead. I've tried everything, reseting it by *pressing center and menu button* countless times it just *wont work*. Also while charging it, it just wont work.
*When I plug in the iPod with an USB cable, iTunes says it cant recognize it...* If I press the center and menu button while the iPod is connected to the PC, a box pops up in iTunes saying it can't recognize the iPod that is connected.
So to the question, what to do when the reset technique doesn't work, or nothing works?
For me the screen is all black whatever I do. However, my PC makes this little sound when I plug it in. (The sound that you hear if you plug in a mouse or a USB-memory or something.)
What should I do to resurrect my iPod?

  • N8 dead Black Screen and nothing happens!

I there. I bought my n8 yesterday, I used it fine until a couple hours ago now, when it went black screen and nothing happens! Turn it off and then on but the screen does not light up, it shows only the screen protector with the hour and the date, but nothing else happens. What should I do???

    @soviettiger
As you have only had the phone for a few days I would take it back to where you bought it from and ask them to have a look at it.
Perhaps they can either exchange it for another one or give you your money back.
BTW mine does what yours does occasionally and I just unlock the screen with the unlock button on the right hand side of the phone.
You could also try turning your phone off for around 15/30 seconds. Turn it back on. When the home screen appears, on the dialler type *#7780#. The phone will switch off on then back on again. Might/mightnot solve your problem.

In Windows 8.1 Premiere Pro video imported clips shows up black screen in Source & Work space. Everything is updated on my PC. They say it could have been a Windows update? Is anyone else having this problem and found a solution any suggestions.. Thank you.

Hello, thank you for your help. I finally was able to contact someone from Adobe on line.. It took about 1 hour on hold but I finally won the lotto...Lol. Pr.. /Project/Project Settings/General/ I had the (Mercury Playback Engine GPU Accelerated (CUDA) and not the (Mercury Playback Engine Software Only) It only took 1 second for Adobe to figure it out...Lol.
Although I have a high rated Nvidia card that did handle the software for some time after a hack, I believe a Windows update may have altered my Premiere Pro CS6 settings.
Video card is Geforce Nvidia GTX 765M non compatible with (Mercury Playback Engine GPU Accelerated (CUDA). Thank Ronin Edits and cvid01

My grandsons new Apple refurbed 35g ipad keeps locking up with a black screen amd nothing else. I have reset it many times pressing the home and off buttons together but it keeps locking up. Help, please!

Thank you for trying to help. I followed your instructions, it took 6 hours to download, and then said it could not solve the problem (something to do with error 9?). It will have to go back to Apple - its only 3 days since it came out of the package and its very disappointing for him. Looks like I have to hang around in the Apple store in Plymouth all tomorrow until they can fix it, or will change it. Thanks for your help.

  • Upgraded my iPad with the iOS 8.3 software.  This morning, the iPad has low battery, even though it was plugged into the power source.  It's now plugged in, but I don't think it's charging. I have a black screen and nothing else! Any thoughts? Thanks

My iPad was upgraded to iOS 8.3 software while plugged in.  This morning, the battery is almost dead, and I have a black screen.  Not sure the iPad is even charging! Any thoughts on what to do? Thanks.

The update is iOS 8.1.3 not iOS 8.3.
Have you tried resetting your iPad?
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Black Screen BUT Backlight Works and External Display OK

Black screen is persistent (i.e. no pixel data) but I can see the shimmer of the backlight on, just all the pixels are black. I replaced the inverter (661-4112) and it worked again for a couple weeks, now back to the same old black screen.
It seems the backlight burning out is common, but this I have never seen before. If it were the integrated video card broken, you'd think an external monitor wouldn't work, but it does.
    Any ideas ladies and gentlemen?

This is a shot in the dark.  Try a SMC and Pram resets:

    Hi nicholasfromdenhaag,
It sounds like you got at least part way through the update before it stopped going any further.  Try the steps in this article for an update that didn't finish.

  • HELP!!! iPod is stuck on black screen and wont work!!!

I've had my nano for 2 years and it's gotten locked up and I pressed buttons until it worked, but never like this! For the past 3 days my ipod has been stuck on a black screen, and I made sure it wasn't on hold. I've been plugging it into EVERYTHING!! My iHome, my wall plug-in, and my computer but it never works! When I plugged it into my computer, it didn't even detect an ipod plugged in! After that I hit random buttons for half and hour. So, before I throw it out the window in a fit of rage, any advice?!

Have you tried pressing the menu button and the center button at the same time?
If you hold them down for about ten or so seconds the gray apple will appear and things will start working again..
The same thing happened to me today Lucky me I work with an I pod Crew and they helped get it running

  • Starting up shows blank screen, then nothing works

I was using my santa rosa MBP 2.4Ghz last night when every app started showing a spinning beach ball. I tried to shut down properly, but nothing would work, so I used the power button to shut off the computer. When I rebooted, however, all I got was a startup chime followed by a blank gray screen and nothing more. If I leave it the fans eventually start going nuts. If I press the power button it shuts off immediately (no need to hold it down). None of the startup key-combos work, and I've tried booting it off an external USB drive (which I just created for emergency situations and has successfully booted the computer before) but it doesn't work. I've tried resetting the SMC, although frankly I don't see how one knows if that works or not, but I did it. I also reset the NVRAM, which oddly did seem to work, even if no other key-combos worked. Any ideas?

This isn't a major addition to what I wrote earlier, it's just that I noticed that if I hold down the option key while rebooting I see the arrow cursor, while otherwise I never see the cursor.
I also didn't mention that I had tried booting in firewire target disk mode, but that didn't work.

  • Black Screen, only power works

Hi guys, my notebook (HP G62 b19sl) doesn't work anymore. I explain better the problem right now.
When I press Power Button the screen remains black and only the fans runs. Only Power LED and Wi-Fi LED are ON.
I can't do anything if I press buttons. CAPS LOCK's LED it's not ON.
I brought it to a Computer Expert. Maybe he resets BIOS and Notebook was operative but when i pulled down the screen to interrupt my work, computer showed black screen again when i pulled up the screen to continue my work.
The combination "Windows+B" without battery, doesn't work to reset BIOS.
I hope someone could help me.
    Thank you

  • Black Screen & Dead Ipod

I left my ipod in my backpack for about ten minutes during the day on my way to the gym and once I got there I was unable to use it. It had about a halfway charge, but when I arrived at the gym there was absolutely no response with a black screen. I have tried charging it with my car charger, wall charger, and even hooking it up to the laptop with no response. The screen just stays black even when I hook it up to any of the chargers mentioned above. When I hook it up to my computer it isn't recognized at all in my computer or in i tunes and actually causes the computer to freeze. Please any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Dave Addi

If the battery is completely depleted you will not see any sign of life when you hook it up to a wall charger, your computer, etc. Connect it to your wall charger, leave it charging for at least 30 minutes, then Reset it while it is still connected to power. This may take several tries. After it revives, fully charge it.
