Black screen in Win 7 with intel HD driver display on MBP

I'm getting black screen in Win 7. This is very weird - the only help is uninstall intel HD graphics driver (everything is fine under standard VGA windows supplied driver- MBP i7 13.3') or use external display through HDMI. Any suggestion how to fix this?

Hi,
i have the same issue.
You need to restore Win7 before this installation
and install 260.99 version of the driver.
It seems to be the more recent one that works with Apple hardware at this time.

I have a black screen and cant reboot with the recovery disc but I seem to be getting nowhere.
I find it strange I cant ask Toshiba direct about my problem but I have to wait for a kind hearted person to solve my problem or give me a helping hand

Of course you can ask Toshiba. Toshiba has Authorized service providers worldwide and I hope some of them are in your country too.
So please visit Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Download > Find an ASP and contact nearest service provider. Just explain the situation and I hope they will help you.
    Back to your problem:
It is not easy to say why this happen. The whole issue is not described so well and I am missing some important points.
Maybe you have upgraded RAM and now notebook doesnt start properly. It is also possible that CPU is defective. It can be so many different reasons for this.
Best thing you can do is to contact service and ask for help. they can run diagnostic tools and find out quickly what the problem is.

  • G62 A40EP - Black Screen in Win Logon

    Hi,
I have a PC notebook HP G62-a40EP, with win 7 64 bits, when i turn on the laptop, the HP logo apears and when loging in Windows the sceen goes black, it has 2 GPUs, an Intel HD and an AMD HD 5470.
I re-installed windows and the drivers from support page for this notebook, and problem still there, i´m thinking of updating the bios, since i have read somewhere that can resolve the problem.
My Bios Version is F.0B, and in the supprt page there are severall Bios Versions, my question:
May i flash the version  F.48 in my notebook?
    Thanks in advance
    Paulo

    Hi @PauloLGonc ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP G62-a40EP Notebook and needing to know about Flashing the BIOS.  There is a difference from flashing the BIOS and updating the BIOS. An update is necessary flashing sort of makes or forces the computer to apply the changes.
I recommend restore the BIOS to factory defaults.
Can you connect the Notebook up to a monitor and see the screen?
This document shows you how if you need it.
    Hope this helps.

  • BLACK SCREEN on start up with 3 beeps, FREEZES when power unplugged, IF IT BOOTS splash screen freezes, OVERHEATING REQUIRED TO BOOT - 0x7B, Event 41 kernel-power

Issue: One day I unplug the power, the screen freezes and I get frozen music sound. I shut down, start up, I get 3 beeps (1 short 2 long), which indicates a Video failure according to the Thinkpad Laptop beep code list.
How I solve the issue day-to-day: I turn the heat up - I disconnect the battery and hard drive and plug in the power then turn it on. I will wait until the underneath is searing hot with a blanket blocking the fan's flow of air, I mean way hot because any
cooler and it won't start. Plug stuff back in, Hard drive first, Battery second, turn off with power button hold, unplug power, replug power.
I turn it on, no beeps, it goes past the first Lenovo screen, then gives me a prompt because it "didn't shut down properly" and continue regular startup. What happens next is the Windows logo appears,
and just as the animated windows logo starts to move (you see 2 small colored dots on the screen), it freezes. I see this every time, I know naturally that it means that the laptop is still too hot to go past that point, so I shut it down and try again. After
about 5 - 10 tries it will go past the splash screen and into the login area, then it's all fine.
Sometimes when I unplug the power from the back by accident it will freeze. By accident I mean that the connector wiggles it's self out easily. This unplug freezing thing started happening about 1 week before the 3 beep black screen problem started rolling,
    so I'm putting 2 together.
           Errors:
I got a Blue Screen of Death the first time I started it up with the overheating ritual, but I never got it since. It was 0X7B.
I got another Blue Screen of Death about a week ago, but came as it was on already and I had been using it, and said something about disabling Cache or Shadowing in BIOS. I never got it since.
           Event Viewer events found:
    1. Kernel-Power, Summary page.
There are critical events for a few things like Kernel-Power, Event ID 41, Task Category (63). There are 19 of them, each day 1 or 2 of them but mostly 1, so this maybe corresponds to my daily ritual.
"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

    3. LMS - HCMI - Event ID 2, Task Category: none
"LMS Service cannot connect to HECI driver".
I came across a very sluggish performing control panel for Nvidia before and after this problem, and I tried installing a newer version, which I had to jump through a few hoops to do, like uninstalling first, not just updating. At first it said that the
driver wasnt for the system, which was wrong. I made it work somehow, but it was still sluggish. I rolled it back to an earlier driver, and now it works fine. No sluggish performance / slight freeze window thing going on.
MSCONFIG.exe, Boot Advanced Options: I have tried twice to change this 1 setting, check box "Number of processors" and change to 2 processors, because I do have 2 processors. I have been able to change
this in the past, but it does not save the setting now, and I believe this option was selected before I started having problems, and settings did not disappear then.
What could this be. The small round BIOS battery? The video card like everyone presumes? (I.E. the entire motherboard replacement), Software? The wiggly power input area? (Not enough power getting in?), Firmware of some sort? The BIOS software being wrong?

  • HP Pavilion DV6; Black Screen & Atikmpag.sys BSOD with external Monitor

    Hello Guys.
I have HP Pavilion DV6 Core i7 with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Graphics Card. Two weeks ago, I started getting continous Atikmpag, sys BSODs. The operating system also started giving me warnings about the hardrive. After a few days, the BSODs got more frequent. Then one day, I was doing normal stuff on my PC and the Display Driver crashed. Instead of recovering, the PC froze. I forced restart my PC but it got worse. The display of my laptop went black. I connected the laptop to external monitor which detected the display. When I tried to load the windows, it started giving me the Atikmpag.sys BSOD on the start up. Now the operating system works fine in the Safe Mode but with nothing on the laptop's screen. The soultions I have tried so far are.
    -Reinstalled the windows thrice
-Removed the drivers and installed the updated ones a bunch of times.
-Rolled back the bios to an earlier version
-Removed the hardrive and tried to load it from an operating system installed on external flash drive
-Tried loading the PC with linux on external flash drive
-Opened the laptop and cleaned it thoroughly
-Removed all the components and plugged them one by one.
-Removed the old Atikmpag.sys in system32 folder and expanded it with the latest ones.
-Installed every thing fresh from HP website
None of these tricks have given me any luck yet. The only way, I could use the operating system in normal mode, is to delete the atikmpag.sys file in safe mode and then log on back in normal mode. I also analysed the minidump file through window debugger and it says that atikmpag.sys is causing this crash with the TDR message. I did all these with an external monitor as the display of the laptop is black since that day.
Below are the detailed specs of my laptop.
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium
    Version: 6.1.7601
System Model: HP Pavilion Dv6 Notebook PC
    Processor: Intel Core i7 Q 721 @ 1.60 GHz
    Bios Version/Date: Hewlett- Packard F.29, 11/7/2011
    Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 6GB
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1 GB
I have tried almost every solution available on these forums but still have not gotten any where. I am wondering how could the display, graphics card and hard drive stop working at the same time .
I would really appreciate if someone colud help me through this problem.
    Thank you

  • Cursor and black screen on XFree86 server with DirectFb backend

    Hi all.
I need to bring up lightweight XFree86 server with DirectFB as video backend on CE Linux (Intel Set Top Box). For now I've done following:
    1.    Compiled and tested DirectFB with multi application support (fusion library).
    2.    Compiled XFree86 with DirectFB as backend.
    3.    X based applications (xclock, for example) can be drawn from device on remote display after exporting DISPLAY variable.
    4.    XDirectFB server can be started successfully without errors.
I faced with following X server problems:
    1.    I can see only black display with active graphic mouse cursor once I started X server and any X application (xclock, for example). Its looks like application windows are drawn but invisible on a screen. When I moving mouse, cursor changes from arrow to resize or others icons.
    2.    When I try to use XFree86 as remote X server for drawing, client program issue XRandr command is not supported. Again I can see blank black screen and valid mouse cursor, which seems manage invisible windows.
    3.    XFree86 manuals points that X server uses configuration files /etc/X11/xorg.conf  or /etc/X11/XF86Config for video/input devices settings. Does XFree86 with DirectFB video backend use such configuration files? Which one? What video driver should I define there? I have tried both of configuration files without success. It seems X server ingoring them.
    Appreciate advices, suggestions and visions.
Please note me if additional information requires.
    Medvic.

I have discovered solutions for my problems (unfortunaly not causes). Hope this helps someone.
    1. I can see only black display with active graphic mouse cursor once I started X server
I have found that XDirectFB binary accepts 'defaultOpacity' (default opacity for created top level windows)argument which can vary in <1-255> range. Value 1 corresponds to full invisibility windows state and 255 to zero opacity. It seems 255 is default value for opacity, but in my case screen still black/blank. I set 254 opacity and wow! Its a miracle - I can see windows!!!
    2. When I try to use XFree86 as remote X server for drawing ... I can see blank black screen and valid mouse cursor
Now I can use my X server for rendering remote client's graphic applications.
    3. ... Does XFree86 with DirectFB video backend use such configuration files? Which one? What video driver should I define there?
It seems indeed XDirectFB server doesn't use any configuration files. For my case X server normally starts without configuration files.
If you have any questions or need some clarifications, please contact me.
    Regards, Medvic.

  • Kernel 2.6.32.2-2 black screen after closing laptop lid (intel + KMS)

Today I updated my laptop with the new 2.6.32.2-2 kernel from core. Previous update of my system was just a few days back, so there are no massive changes to other packages and I also don't use testing packages.
Since the update, after closing the laptop lid (which just blanks my screen) and I want to continue working I just have a black screen (no backlight) and the screen won't respond to mouse or keyboard input. I have to reboot (ctr-alt-del or pushing my power button) or switch to VT1 and back to VT7 to get my screen back. I'm absolutely positive that this was not a problem before, it worked fine with 2.6.30 and 2.6.31 kernels with my same configuration.
    HP 6730b laptop
Intel GMA 4500 (Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07))
Intel driver 2.9.1-1 using KMS with early start (modprobe.conf) and I rebuilt my initcpio to the new 2.6.32.2-2 kernel
    Gnome 2.28.2
Can anyone confirm this behaviour? Should I file a bug somewhere? I read about lots of upgrade problems with this new kernel, but for the rest everything else works fine so far.
    Thanks for your feedback.

Isn't suspending and resuming a session exactly what you're doing (or hoping to do) when you close your lid and then open it up again?  I.e., putting the machine into a low-power sleep state and then having everything come back to where you were when you wake it up?  You mentioned that the Gnome power management tools depend on pm-utils, which suggests that somewhere in there "pm-suspend" is getting called.  If you can find out where it's getting called (i.e., in some script that Gnome power manager uses), and try changing it to "pm-suspend --quirk-vbestate-restore" (or one of the other quirks, perhaps), then that may bring your screen back on wakeup.
Hehe, nope I don't hope to suspend :-) I just close the lid to save the display (and some power) but want my machine to keep running (when downloading torrents or when I'm going to eat etc...) Also it keeps the dust from entering the keyboard ;-)
I also took a look at the post where there should be a patch present, but I think it's for another problem: flickering screens.
For me it's a bug in intel driver or kernel, but still it's strange that KDE doesn't suffer from this!

  • Why do I get a black screen and no sound with video in iTunes 8?

Just downloaded the new iTunes. I don't have any video playback when I click preview in the store. No video when I try to play anything that I've already downloaded. The play cursor moves but I have a black screen with no sound. I'm hoping this is just a temporary glitch.

  • Black screen install of W7 with Yosemite

How do I get by the black screen following install of W7 on mid 2010 iMac? I am running Yosemite 10.10 Does the USB recommended drive have to be connected while W7 is being installed?.

TY for your response. I removed the 2nd. partition from the HD. There is only one HD in this iMac but I do have two external HDs that I disconnect when installing, or try to install, windows. I believe there is either something wrong with this computer (bad cpu) or the system software is corrupted; I am having way too many crashes; one last night when writing my last response and one just before the response. I have attached the failure report.

  • GD65: black screen after 4.4ghz with i5 2500k

Hi, I have a problem with my MSI P67A GD65. My cpu is an i5 2500k. I tried to overclock it but if I go over 4.4ghz, despite very high vcore (1.39) does not start windows. The strange thing is that it don't go in BSOD, but the screen stays black or windows crashes a few seconds after the start of the boot process. They said me on an Italian forum (I'm Italian) which is strange, with that vcore windows should start or at least should give me BSOD, no black screen. Can you help me? Thanyou very much
    CPU  Intel i5 2500k 3.3ghz @ 4.4ghz
    Motherboard model MSI P67A GD65 Bios v. 1.70
    Memory G.Skill Ripjaws-X 2x2gb 1600mhz cl7 1.5v
    Video card Radeon HD 6850 1gb gddr5
    Hard drive(s) Samsung Spinpoint F3 7200rpm 16mb
Western Digital Caviar Green 5200rpm 32mb
Any other peripheral cards and devices
Operating system and version Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Power Supply Unit brand and output in watts and DC output (amps) Corsair TX 650w

I would start with updating your BIOS to the latest BETA BIOS Version (v1.8b11) which can be found here:  https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=144655.msg1081923#msg1081923
Set all clock settings back to default before attempting a BIOS Update.  >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Then retest with the latest version.

Sorry, but that is basically nonsense.  When the overclock settings are unstable, all kind of things can potentially happen: BSODs, freezes, black screen, reboots etc.  There is no rule that when a certain VCore is applied the only "right" response would be a BSOD.

  • Black screen and no sound with iTunes rentals.

I was going to chalk this up to just a corrupt download, but it's happening too much for mere coincidence now. I rented Captain America: The First Avenger in HD on my Windows 7 machine, only to find that when I tried to play it, I got nothing more than a black screen with no sound. I chalked it up to bad luck and went back to my day, only a few days later, I tried again, only to find the exact same problem had occurred with the exact same movie. I called Apple Support and told them of the problem, and while they refunded my purchases (and gave me 3 free movie rentals), they proposed no solution.
So I tried renting Iron Man 3 today, and the same thing happened. This doesn't occur with any other movies that I own trying to play in iTunes, just with rentals. I've already tried a reinstall, which did nothing, and I'm out of ideas.
    Any assistance is appreciated.

Yeah! Problem solved: It's a QT issue.
Cause: Mac Update Software downloaded a faulty QT.
Solution: Download QT from Apple's QT site.
Great to have the Video back
