Black screen instead of entertainment cen

Does anyone know why i can't see the Entertainment center on my moniter? It's running, but when i select the program it goes to a black screen. When I alt-tab back to the desktop i can see the Entertainment center main screen for a split second. Anyone know how to fix this?

Have you tried doing a reinstall of the software yet, or closing down programs that are running in the background? What resolution do you run at (such as 280 x 024)?

When you see the old number come up in the suggested choices look for a blue arrow to the right of the Contact. Tap the blue arrow and then tap Remove from Recents.

  • When I try to put a PNG watermark that I made myself into a "Picture in Picture" it just gives a black screen instead of the watermark

My channel is partnered with TGN. And they gave me a watermark. When I put the TGN watermark in it's fine, but when i put my custom watermark in I get a black screen.
Please help me. I am using Imovie 9.0.8 Macbook pro OS X 10.8.3

In the iMovie menu item File > Project Properties for Initial Photo Placement choose Crop - NOT Fit in Frame or Ken Burns (iMovie's default setting is Ken Burns). The latter 2 options will convert the .png image to a .jpg image.
If you've already placed the png image into the timeline as a Picture in Picture, you will need to delete it then change the preference setting to Crop. Then you can insert the png image.

  • On video loss, can I have a black screen instead of the QT logo?

I have a MAX/msp app that streams MJPEG video from a camera and displays it using Quicktime.  When the camera is disconnected the image changes to a white background with the Quicktime logo.  It looks terrible.
Is there a way to replace that logo with a blank black screen?  I tried creating my own icns file and substututed it for the icns files in
    Quicktime Player.app
    right click
left click on Show Package Contents
    Contents\Resources\  anything that ends .icns
    but that did not help.
I changed the application icon in the Get Info window.  Still no help.
Am I attempting the impossible?  Or am I just being blind to some obvious solution?
Thank you for any help you can provide.

  • Black screen instead of TTYs after Xorg once started and leaved

    Hi,
I've installed Arch on my laptop and experience following issue... I log in after boot and run "startx", then openbox starts properly. This is fine, but when I leave X, I can't see anything (TTY expected). I can switch to another TTY, login as root and type "reboot" or type "killall X", then log in as regular user and type "startx" to get openbox again. So there are TTYs obviously but I can't see anything but black screen.
By leaving X (above) I mean...
    - typing "sudo killal X" in xterm
    - using openbox "Log Out" menu option
    - switching to another TTY by hitting Alt+Fn
All of these lead to the same issue.
I assume it's not Xorg problem, but I may be wrong of course. Is that driver related? I have Nvidia card and use proprietary drivers installed via pacman. Can anybody give me an advice where to look? Thanks a lot. I also attach (maybe relevant) outputs. If there is anything else needed to know please tell me and I'll post it.

I was having this exact same problem, then it just stopped. I am using the nouveau driver and I have a tnt2 card.
IIRC, I was having an unrelated problem with xorg or udev or something was having problems detecting my monitor, it claimed I had two monitors connected, I wrote an xorg.conf file and that fixed the problem. IDK if its is related or not because I don't recall exactly when things started working when I would switch ttys.
Try using the nouveau driver and see if it does the same thing, it has a kernel module so it might make difference,

  • Black screen instead of login window

    Hello.
    I have a problem when booting a PowerBook G4 running Mac OS X 10.5.8.
I turn it on, see the grey screen, see the Apple logo, see the loading icon, see (for a fraction of second) the blue screen and then....black screen and nothing more.
I have made a few tests:
    - safe boot/mode/login
    - verbose mode, no remarkable errors
    - single user mode (fsck, renaming com.apple.loginwindow.plist, even renaming /Library/Preferences, ...)
    but with no success.
    Does anyone have any suggestion?
    Thanks.

System restored from a Time Machine backup, I found no other way.

  • Edit shows black screen instead of photo

With a couple of my photos, when I double-click to edit I get a black screen with the edit bar below grayed out. They're JPEGs from my digital camera, the same as most of my other photos. I've been using iPhoto since version 5 without encountering this problem before. Any suggestions?

Well I never said it was another internet forum, I said it was an internet forum - this one. Search you and you will see some folks fixed this issue with the 8.0.2 update.
    To do a Rebuild:
Start with Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, faces or places for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
If that doesn’t work: A Manual Rebuild
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, faces, places and books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
    Regards
    TD

    Yes do this.
In meantime you can try BIOS recovery, there is a good chance to recover since BIOS is really corrupted and damaged and recovery can kick off.
Download the BIOS for your notebook from MSI web: http://msi.com/service/download/bios-8539.html
Extract it, then rename A1651IMS.114 to A1651IMS.ROM
Then copy the A1651IMS.ROM to diskette and place it to the USB Floppy and connect the USB floppy with corespond diskette inside which contain A1651IMS.ROM to the an free USB port to the notebook.
Remove the notebook battery and leave only AC Power cord connected.
Then turn it on,[with battery disconnected and USB FDD attached with diskette inside] and leave it in that way for a 10 minutes.
If process is successfully, the notebook should bring back to the live itself after 10 minutes.

  • Black screen instead of Desktop Windows XP on Satellite A100-455

I have now a permanent problem with my Satellite A100-455 laptop since it didn't shutdown properly (in fact it stopped when the battery was out...).
Now systematically when I try to start the laptop, after the Toshiba and Windows XP family logo the screen remains black (only the mouse arrow works), the Windows desktop never displays!
Even with a F8 mode, I tried some options without success...
    What can I do ?
Do you think the only solution is the recovery of the system with the original recovery CD delivered with the Laptop?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    hi deirdra
looks like you have to install your system again. using the recovery-cd is a good idea.
but be aware you could *loose data*! depending on the recovery mode.
when you are not able to start your operating system by pressing f8 you are in trouble.
maybe you can test it with a system-on-cd to check if it is a hardware problem.
in my oppinion there is a problem that depends on software...
try to choose "known last good" configuration
and / or "f5" instead of "f8"on booting into your os.
try to boot without battery only with ac-power on.
let me know if any of the suggestions worked for you.

  • PE9 - occasional black screen instead of video clip

    Hi,
I have Adobe Premiere Elements 9.0.1 and windows XP SP3. In general, I don't have any problems with the software. However, occasionally, the video clip that I have imported in timeline become black (with sound OK). The rest of the clips are OK. Sometimes it helps to restart the program. But then sometime other clip is with black video. The thing is that when I do rendering, if a clip in the timeline was with black video it is then also rendered as a black part of the video.
Any idea how can I fix it? I updated the program. I also downloaded videorenderer.dll as was suggested on some other site without results.
    Thank you.

From nvidia's site they don't show a 8400 ES. Do you mean 8400SE? Although "new" to you it is actually quite old (by technology standards) -  a 2008 product. So the graphics drivers provided with the card will be ancient. You should get and install the most recent version (266.58WHQL) from nvidia.
While your at it check all these other basics as well:
    Install all Windows Updates.
Install latest version of Apple QuickTime (v7.6.9 at time of writing). Even if you don't use QuickTime, PRE relies heavily on it.
Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites.
    Install PRE9 v9.0.1 update.
Delete BadDrivers.txt (use windows search to find it)
    Run Disk Cleanup.
    Run Defragmenter.
    Reboot your PC.
Temporarily disable any anti-virus realtime scanning.
And give us some information about your clips and hardware:
Use the GSpot Codec Information Utility to analyse the file and post screen image.
What project preset did you use?
Where did the clip come from?
How did you get it into PRE?
Post back here with the necessary information described here: Got a Problem? How to Get Started

  • I get a black screen instead of my bookmark list when I click on bookmarks icon

BookThis happened suddenly.  I can still access my bookmarks by going to the Bookmarks(top of screen)/Bookmarks Bar/then pull-down Alice's Bookmarks from that to access my bookmarks. However, I have to keep the cursor pushed down, cannot rearrange them from there or view the actual URLs.  What did I do to cause this?!  More importantly, how do I UNDO it and get back my access to the nice bookmarks list by simply clicking on the bookmark icon up top?"  It is VERY frustrating!

this is happening to me as well but I want to see what that bookmark is as aposed to having to double click the bookmark itself I have saved many bookmarks and I am regualrly looking for things on the bookmarks so I do not want to have to click evey single bookmark to find things again

  • I updated my MacBook Pro and now NO video will play. I get a black screen with "Plug in's Blocked" in gray on the display screen. Any suggestions?

I have a  black screen instead of any video and Plug In's Blocked written in a gray box. This was after an update for Adobe (?). And can't find how to fix it. Everything else is geat. Tried restarting it and; as you might have guessed I'm not very tecky. Anyone out there? Please help me...I'm hopeless. Thanks

I'm experiencing the same problem as described above and it all started after tha 10.8.2 upgrade.
I had no issues until the last upgrade.
Has Apple responded to anyone about a solution to this problem?
    I'm running a Mid-2012 MBP-R also.

  • (Resolved - My own stupidity) Remote Desktop 8.1.3 for iOS (iOS 8.0) - Connects to Black Screen

    New version, new problems!
After finally solving my problems with connecting introduced in 8.1.0 for iOS, I have updated to 8.1.3 and have a new problem!
I am able to log in, but upon login, I am presented with a black screen instead of my desktop.  If I turn on the mouse pointer, the pointer shows up, but it does not control the remote computer.
Additionally, the iOS Remote Desktop Client is not "taking over" the remote computer... I am typing on the computer to write this, while my iPad's Remote Desktop app is supposedly "connected" to it.
Anyone else having this new issue?

Resolved - My own stupidity!  :-P
Garbage in, garbage out!  I have two computers connected to the same monitor...My 2nd computer was active on the monitor, hiding the fact that my primary computer (and remote desktop host computer) needed a restart!  I restarted, and the issue
    was resolved!
