It looks like the screen or it's connector has failed.
A nokia care point should be able to easily fix it for you without losing any data.
Call your nearest and discuss it with them.
Unfortunately we cannot tell you how to repair it here as discussing disassembly is against the rules here.

  • Help! N95 8GB Horizontal Lines on LCD Screen getti...

I was getting a few horizontal lines across my screen of my N95 8GB. Switching the slider from portrait to landscape doesn't change the direction of the lines.
The lines have been getting progressively thicker to the point where now it's hard to read anything on the phone.
Do I have a dying screen?
I've take the slider apart, detached and reattached the screen and ribbon cable connector, and it doesn't make any difference.
Should I buy a replacement screen or is there something else that could be wrong? The rest of the phone functions perfectly fine.

    Hi calciumicon,
It would probably be best to have your device checked by a Nokia Care point. From what you describe it might be the screen needs to be replace. The N95 is a model which has been out of production for a while though so check to verify it can still be repaired.

  • Make the N95 8GB screen look like a WM phone. Poss...

    Hi all!
Just curious (and not trying to start a WM vs. Symbian flame-war) whether it is possible to make the screen of the N95 8GB look like, for example, the HTC Touch Cruise: http://www.letsgomobile.org/images/news/htc/htc-touch-cruise.jpg
Is it possible to make changes like this to the layout of the N95 8GB screen?

I doubt that you will be able to make it look like a WM phone.
Well, there is a HTC Touch-like design on http://gdesk.wetpaint.com/page/GDesk+designs
I'll give it a try. It looks quite promising. Thanks!

  • N95 8GB vs W960i

I have a N95 8GB that is now at Nokia service center after a problem with the main camera
I then bought immediately a W960i to get another phone I can use on WIFI networks
I am astonished how the W960i is much more advanced than the N95 8GB that seems to be a old designed phone looking like a project made by school students
The Symbian on the W960 is very fast, nice look
The N95 8GB has this more than the W960 :
    -5M camera
    -stereo speakers
    -3,5mm jack
    -seems the battery is better
    -GPS
The W960 has the same screen size and has this better than the N95 8GB :
    -user interface
-very fast USB (it takes hours to upload 8GB on the Nokia and nothing to the W960)
    -better music player
    -better video player
-better messaging with SMS with full features
    -touch screen
-mini keyboard on the touch screen
    -very good predictive text entry
-also a funny hand recognition text input
-predictive word and predictive next word !
    -better software for the PC
    -many langages installed
    -very good in ear supplied
    -half the price
There are so many features that I would like the same on the N95 8GB

you can lole as long and as hard as you feel

  • Problem with nokia n95 lcd. Black screen and flex ...

Hi i have a nokia n95. I have it since its first year in the market. I am very pleased with the phone but the last month sudenly when i slide to open the phone's screen was not responding. The actual phone was working great. I could receive calls and make calls, listen to music and everything else. The screen was black though. As i am a technician with experience on iPhones mostly i thought that the lcd was damaged. So i ordered one from the internet and 2 days ago i received it. When i installed it i had the same problem. The phone works but the screen not. Then i completely dissaseblied the phone for one more time and i noticed something that i hadn't before at the flex cable. The flex cable consists of 2 flat cables. Well the one is completely broken. Take a look at the following pictures and please tell me you opinion. I am 99.9% sure that this is the cause of the lcd problem. I want to tell me if i should buy the flex cable. I can't go to a nokia center because the phone is out of the warranty over 2 years now. So the only option is to change it on my own.

The flex cable is damaged. Some years back when I had a Nokia N95 8GB the flex cable was damaged and for a few days the screen was showing strange colours at the display and eventually the screen became black. I went to a local repair shop and I replaced the flex cable and what I noticed was that the flex cable that it had no proximity sensor on it so I told the technician to remove the proximity sensor on the original one and replace it with the new flex cable. Another thing I discovered was that after fitting the flex cable and returning the cover the front camera was not in its usual position so the technician had to do some modifications to get it back to its normal position and after a few months it was damaged and this time I went to Nokia Care Centre and replaced the flex cable for a small fee and what I noticed was that the flex cable that I previously bought was a fake cable. The one bought from Nokia Care Centre had its proximity sensor and when the cover was returned the camera was in its exact position the same as it was with the original flex cable. What I wanted to say is that please beware of fake flex cables on the market and I suggest that you buy it from an authorised Nokia Dealer.

  • Nokia N95 8gb problems - freezing, fuzzy screen et...

Ok so been using the Nokia N95 8gb phone for about a week now and noticed that there is a tendency for the phone to freeze for up to 10 seconds like when opening other things such as Inbox etc. The problems mainly occur when the phone is slid shut, then when resliding the phone open the phone freezes or sometimes screen stays black until battery is taken out!
When the phone is slid shut sometimes the screen goes fuzzy in places aswell like a TV with no reception. The text and theme on the phone sometimes goes a dodgy colour aswell like a negative photo and sometimes even goes back to front and the wrong way round?? Anyone else had similar problems or knows what this is??

Its unlikely to have the same issue after doing a software upgrade, it could be some application on your memory card or the simcard .
You may try the steps below
    - A soft reset by keying in *#7780# when on standby - This will not delete any data but will restore all the settings back to default.
If that does not help then you may wanna try doing a hard reset by keying in *#7370# when on standby - This will reformat the phone. DO NOT FORGET TO DO A BACK UP AS THIS WILL ERASE YOUR ENTIRE PHONE MEMORY.
The security code by default is 12345
Also would be best to reformat your memory card and sim cards well as there might be some applications in there which is causing your phone to lag.
Mark me a KUDOS if this has helped...

  • Nokia N95 8gb screen acting up

Hi, I have a Nokia N95 8gb North America version. Recently, my phone started acting up. The phone would sometimes freeze when I'm using an app, but I could often just press the menu button and just go back. Also, the screen would sometimes become oddly coloured. However, now the screen is very, very weird. The screen is flipped and reversed, and some parts are cut off. I didn't drop it or anything when all of a sudden this started to happen. Unfortunately, my phone's not under warranty anymore. What can I do? Also, where can I find a care point in Vancouver, British Columbia, or are there any at all? Thanks

Nokia Care details are in this link..
    http://www.techvibes.com/company-directory/nokia-canada
You may try upgrading / re-installing the firmware..
    1. Download and install the latest version of OVI Suite from
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-ovi-suite
    2. Connect the phone to PC using the USB Cable (Suite Mode)
    3. Open the OVI Suite
    4. First take a Back-up of the phone (Tools-->Back-up).. as you may tend to lose data during the process..
    5. Tools -->Software updates .. and follow instructions
Note : During the updates the phone may switch OFF.. do not worry.. It will switch ON on its own.Ignore any warnings you see in Windows Task bar.. Even when you see the update is complete.. do not disconnect the phone till it switches ON again...
Hopefully the problem should get sorted by now.. Restore your data (Tools-->Restore)

  • Screen won't work, sometimes - N95 8GB

    Hi,
Had a few problems as of lately with my N95 8GB, not really impressed with it to be honest.
Amongst other things, the worst problem would have to be the slider mechanism.
    - I'm not sure how to explain it properly as it's complicated, so please bare with me -
Every time I move the slider from Landscape(music player) to Portrait(key-pad and all) the screen goes black until the bottom of the slider reaches above the 7, 8, 9 keys. Essentially, it doesn't work from starting to move it to the Portrait mode from the Neutral position, to just before revealing the whole 7, 8, 9 keys.
Music and the like play in the background through all this happening, as the phone just goes into the "locked mode" and the screen turns off, so the phone is still on.
Ofcourse there are exceptions, like when I move the slider up and down fast, and seem to trick the phone, but I'm guessing that's mostly irrelevant.
tl;dr The screen doesn't work for the middle third of the entire slider movement.
Not too mention the secondary camera not working - period, or my calls only working on loud-speaker.
Yep, this is the least of my worries.
Anyway, thanks for any help in advance, hope you can help.
And one final note, I'm stuck on firmware v 11.x something, and I run my computer on Vista. Since NSU doesn't support Vista, is their anyway to update it to v 20.x without going to a Care Center or whatever they are called?

    Hi All,
Probably the Secondary camera of my N95 8 GB purchased just a week ago is not working
I discovered it when i used the secondary camera yesterday for the first time
When i use the sec. camera, only a bright yellow screen appears. The pictures taken are just a combination of red & yellow dots. Can anyone help ??

    Yes, sure !!
    Check I've said having an RM-421 phone. That's the N95-4 or N95 NAM. The N95-2 is RM-320.
Should I assume that americans (not only north-americans) don't need to rotate their screens ??? :-)

  • Best place to get a genuine N95 8GB screen

I cracked the screen on my Nokia N95 8GB at Reading Festival this year. The phone works, but screen doesn't. Where is the best place to get a new/used original/geniune Nokia screen to fit? I'm happy to do it myself.
There are a few on ebay, but i'm never sure whether the non-geniune Nokia screens are good or not.

Who knows? Some may be genuine, but the people selling them have no right to do so.
Also, if you do any damage whilst replacing this yourself, you'll invalidate your warranty for other issues that might be covered by it, so spending a little to have it profesionally fixed may benefit you in the long term. Even the oldest N95 8GBs in Europe are still covered by warranty until at least October 2009.

  • N95 8GB LCD Screen.

    Hello,
I have an N95 8GB with a cracked LCD screen. Just wondering where is the best place to purchase another screen? I've noticed them on E-bay around £30. Would I be able to purchase one through Nokia? That way I know it wouldn't be a fake.
    Cheers Tom.

Trying to change the screen yourself is likely to cause more damage unless you are certain that you know what you are doing. We cannot help you here with self repairs as it's against the rules.

  • NOKIA N95 8GB SCREEN ROTATE FEATURE

hello i just got my nokia n95 8gb, and in the manual on pg 95 it says the phone has a auto screen rotate feature under setting>General>personalisation>display>screen rotate
but there is no such setting in my phone??
I have V15 firmware. please help, thanks

No, when v20 is released into NSU it will be there. Just keep checking for it here. I'm sure when V20 comes out it will be big news.
Also I recommend you check what new "features" this v20 may have as you may want to stay in v15 if you don't want some of the "new features".
