Black Screen on iMac 27" Mid-2010 - Tried many fixs, got no sucess, Need help
Hello, ive been trying to install windows 7 x64 for the past few days.... but i cant pass the black screen after the installation is complete
I already did several searchs on this subject, i read this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173 but got no sucess doing exactly what is asked.
Also i tried other possible solution that i found out that was using Mac Fuse to search for a .sys file inside the windows partition and erase it but i couldnt found these file either..
So im out of possibilities now and dont know what to do, how can i install windows 7 x64 via bootcamp on my iMac?
I can install windows but on the last restart to initialize windows after all instalation it gets on the black screen with the _ on the left upper corner blinking...
My imac is 27" Mid-2010 model
Any help would be aprecciated
Thanks

I have purchased an IMAC 27 mod 2010 and I would like to install Windows 7 with Bootcamp.
I've tried everything from all sources infos. Impossible to install.
After last screen on windows install, when desktop is created for first user and last boot ... black screen with blinking cursor.
I've been able to run this install from VMWARE from OSX. I've tried to install last version of ATI driver, bootcamp 3.2 ... nothing work.
I'm totally lost from 2 weeks now.
I could I proceed to boot windows 7 on I IMAC ?
Please help
This is an old problem I once ran into, but it's completely unrelated to SP1 which is the purpose of this thread.
Here is the solution:

Sudden black screen and restart with mid 2010 15" MBP
My MBP from April 2010 have recently started shutting down mid-sessions. The screen goes black and the computer reboots. I've read that this model have had some issue with the graphic card. One funny (?) thing is that the problem more or less only occurs when I'm using Pro Tools (music software). I formatted the computer yesterday and installed a fresh Mountain Lion, but to no avail. The crash logg is below, hope anyone can shed any light!

IMac 27" mid-2010 as a second screen
Hi,
I recently got a MacBook Pro Retina 13" (2015) and I would like to use my iMac 27" (mid-2010) as a second screen.
I already tried it by using a HDMI to Mini DisplayPort cable but it didn't work.
So I've checked on the Internet and as stated in this forum thread (Macbook pro 2014 connect to imac 27 2010), I need to use a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable and since the Thunderbolt port on my MacBook Pro should handle it.
So I hope someone can confirm me this solution will work.
Thank you by advance.It's correct.
iMac- How to use your iMac as a Target Display Mode display
Target Display Mode 2009 & 2010 iMacs -
inbuilt isight camera is detected in system profiler but no image is being detected only a black screen shows up. I have tried all of the troubleshooting instructions and it still wont work. The iMac im using is OS X 10.6 and was an ex-floor model
Hi,
I would try a Safe Boot first. (This will take longer than a normal Boot and you will need to Restart afterwards).
If it were an older OS I would also suggest going to System Preferences > Displays and making sure the display is set to Millions. (My MacBook Pro does not have this option in Snow Leopard so I did presume Snow Leopard does not have it).
With some laptops there have been some issues with the cable up the back of the screen pulling loose with regular and frequent use of the lid, but this will not apply to you based on your specs. (it does take time to appear and is also somewhat rare). However it seems enough contact with the camera can make it appear in System Profiler and power it on but not give a pic.
If a Safe Boot does not work I would also try a PRAM reset.
Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD (or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.
This is actually "less" destructive in that it clears less memory items than Safe Boot but they are different enough to warrant trying.
Do you have an older version of iGlasses installed ?
The one for Leopard does not work for Snow Leopard.
Do you have Web Browser open ?
This may point to Google Video Chat Plug-in and Flash Conflict. It would be rare to allow another app to access the camera even if not displayiong a Pic.
(Chrome Installs the Plug-in as does the standalone download).
Knowing what "any application" exactly you are trying might help us pin it down.
Any additional downloaded apps that can use the camera ?
Do you happen to have something balck in front of the camera ?

I downloaded Lion on my iMac (i7 mid 2010) and my Apple applications show up in the first Launchpad screen in two folders titled "Utilities". How can I fix this? At first I didn't think they were there.
Click the Utilities icon/folder to see the contents and then drag the items out of the folder upwards onto the Desktop and they will be removed from the folder.

IMac 27" (mid 2010): Will replacing the HD cause fan problems?
Hi,
I have an iMac 27" (mid 2010). My HD is broken, and I'd like to replace it. I've already installed an SSD, so replacing the HD shouldn't be much of a problem.
However I've read that replacing the HD causes the fan to spin up all the time. Some sites say this started one generation later, but some remain unspecific or say that this problem affects all iMacs. Before I replace my HD, I'd like to know what to expect.
So my question is: in my 2010 iMac, can I replace the HD without causing fan problems (provided I put the temp plug in the right place )?
Best regards,
FOWC is mistaken. I don't know why they keep saying that. (I'm not even certain the OWC blog linked above related to using the same make drive on the late 2009s was ever correct. I had a long phone conversation with an upper level WD tech some time ago who said that the originals were special ordered by Apple.) Those drives have Apple proprietary firmware which puts the temp sensor output to the jumper block, and you cannot just replace with a drive of the same manufacturer. A non-Apple WD drive will not have that connection at the jumper block.
Two possibilities: Get an external stick-on temp sensor that will work with your model or use SSD Fan Control.
http://exirion.net/ssdfanctrl/
If I'm mistaken and you do get it to work directly with a replacement WD drive I will be pleasantly surprised, since I have a Late 2009 which will need a new drive sooner or later. Please post back with your results. -
Is iMac 27" (mid 2010) Quad-Core Intel Core i7 64-bit kernel ???
Hello,
Sorry I'm not familiar with 64-bit term and would like to know is iMac 27" (mid 2010) Quad-Core Intel Core i7 a 64-bit processor and does it support in Mac OS X?? I'm confused as I from the Apple list "Mac OS X v10.6: Macs that use the 64-bit kernel" does not have latest iMac models. I plan to buy iMac 27" Core i7 for video editing and also like to know does Final Cut support 64-bit too. Appreciate all kind advise please.
Thanks in advance.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3770Hi,
it's in list...
These Macs *support the 64-bit kernel*, but do not use it by default.
*iMac (Early 2008) and later*
MacBook Pro (Early 2008) and later
The keyword is "not by default"
Regards

I installed Mountain Lion in my IMac and now, some times, when I start up my mac it looks with a black screen and white text. I'm really worry about it, can somebody help me?
Don't worry, this is probably just Verbose Mode. It's perfectly harmless. If you're not specifically invoking it, than it's probably down to an unwanted setting in NVRAM. See this article on resetting NVRAM if it continues to bother you.

You need to purchase 8 GBs as two 4 GB modules. Must meet these requirments:

When I double click on the tool bar on the bottom of the black screen on fox tab, adobe settings shows up. I delete adobe then the black screen shows the fox tab again and says to view it I need to down load the latest version of adobe flash player.
Tylerdowner, as a moderator, one would think that, prior to adjusting comments/solutions, especially when not having a Mac, you would do more research (bet you know someone with a Mac, to duplicate problem), or pass responding on to a moderator who does have a Mac (I am amazed that you are even a moderator on Mac problems/situations, if you only have access to a PC). Had the solutions above worked, I would not have needed to figure out another solution (we all know the newest release of anything is the most secure). Finally I am open to any fixes (tested) that you can provide, that improve upon mine. As a moderator, maybe you have pull with the Foxtab and/or Adobe people to get them to work out compatibility, and lastly, maybe add a warning at the Foxtab add-ons page, after verifying the problem yourself, with an associate's/friend's Mac.

My old iMac and OS 10.4 will not accept the New iTunes Version 10 application and I can't get past the screen offering to download iTunes 10. This is wrong and I need help getting past this situation. Help!
Sure, you can get around it if you don't need the newest version of iTunes. I still use version 7.5 because the newer versions didn't strike me as offering anything I needed.
If you do need a version 10-something then you will have to upgrade your operating system to Leopard (fi your computer will support it) at least. If you need 10.5 for some reason then there's no getting around it, you will have to buy a new computer. -
my ipod has just black screen and the home button is not working. what will i do? help please!
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPodin recovery mode use this prgram.
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
